Testing a 15" screen on a 12" PB

I have a 12"aluminum Powerbook, (1.33 ghz) and a 15" TiBook (1 ghz). I received a 15" aluminum dispaly from a 1.5 ghz machine that I'd like to test. Can I use either the 12" aluminum or the 15" titanium to test the display? I can't tell from the take-apart manuals if the connectors are different and do not want to go through all the work of tearing either machine apart to test the display if I won't be able to hook the machine up to the display.

It will not work like that because the connector in the PB G4 12" and 15" titanium are completely different than aluminum 15".
The inverter and LVDS (data) cable in aluminum 15" have different connector than either of your units.
You will need another PB g4 15" to test your display.

  • How to test the LCD screen with digitzer removed?

Have you tried putting your monitor to sleep via system preferences (set to one minute, theres no instant option )?

  • Testing an aluminum screen on a tibook

I have a 1 ghz TiBook with a broken screen and purchased what I thought was a replacement screen on eBay. But the seller didn't know the difference between aluminum and titanium. So now I have an aluminum display I cannot use, but rather than return it, I'm thinking it is probably worth more than a titanium display but am a little nervous about selling something without testing it. So my question, did Apple change the connectors when they made the aluminum machines or will I be able to connect this aluminum display to my tibook just for test purposes? I cannot tell from the take-apart manual for my tibook what the connection looks like and do not want to go through all that work taking it apart only to find that they don't match. The aluminum display came from a 1.5 ghz machine (should have tipped me off to the fact that is wasn't titanium!)

Compare the display-removal instructions provided at iFixit for your Tibook model and for the Albook model your display was taken from. You may be able to tell from the photos (click on the small ones to enlarge them) whether the connectors on the Albook display cables are the same as those on the Tibook cables. Of course even if the connectors are identical, the pinouts for them might be different.
Absent the advice of someone who has done the experiment (and I can't imagine that it's been tried often), I stand by my previous advice to sell the Albook display "as is" and swallow the loss. I wouldn't even consider risking a Tibook that works OK (apart from having no display) by connecting a display to it whose compatibility was doubtful.

  • Get Mail to wrap test to fit screen

When I receive email from certain people, the body of the email runs way off the screen instead of wrapping to fit. What can I do to make the email message wrap itself to my screen size to avoid endless left to right scrolling?

This may vary based on your printer and not your mail preferences, though you can change the view settings in your preferences for smaller font. Also kind of unclear on what you are asking...hope this helps:
    When Printing:
    1) Print message
    2) Click "Show Details" in bottom left hand corner
    3) Select "Scale Message to Fit" (This will resize your message to one page) or "Rewrap message to fit"
    4) From the preset menu dropdown, select "Save Current Settings as Preset"
    5) Name the Present "Mail Settings" or something like that so you may use it as a template in the future
    Using Mail Preferences:
    1) Preferences > Fonts & Colors > Message Font
    2) Change font/size accordingly

  • What is cause for green screen when Apple Hardware Test is assessing memory

My PowerBook G4 1.33 GHZ with 256MB RAM was giving messages about needing to restart on each start-up attempt. Of interest when the the AirPort wireless card (that had not been working) was removed, the restart problem resolved. When the AirPort card was re-inserted, it functioned correcly allowing connections to a wireless router. The restart message did not return and the computer appeared to be functioning normally. Also of note I had reinstalled the system software and had run multiple updates thinking that the intial restart error messages were related to a system software problem. Now, when I run the Apple Hardware Test the first three items "pass" (AirPort, Logic Board, Mass Storage) but, after about 3 minutes of testing the nest topic, "Memory," the screen turns green and blue (reminiscent of the dreaded "blue screen" in Windows). I have to power off the computer and it will restart without problems. Of note the Apple Hardware Test did the same thing before I reinstalled the system software and re-installed the AirPort card. Does this point to a problem with the built in RA<?<br>

Thanks Rodney! Your explanation was correct. I had not waited long enough for the test process to complete. When I watched carefully, it was not until just after the memory section and the beginning of the V RAM testing that the screen started to change apperances. There were multiple changes until finally the original dialogue box reappered. I had previously been too impatient.

  • HELP: iPhone 6 Keyboard/Touch Screen Not Working

    Hello.
I recently acquired to an iPhone 6, which has been working properly for the last two weeks. Today, my keyboard/touch screen stopped working properly. When I am typing in iMessage, or trying to compose an email, enter a URL, or anything else that requires my touch keyboard, my "123" button that switches to numbers, punctuation, and special characters does not open. I updated my software to iOS 8.3., which switched to a new and "improved" emoji keyboard, but I did this after my keyboard had already become unresponsive. If I click on the emjoi keyboard icon to switch over, the "ABC" button to swtich back to QWERTY is unresponsive. This is REALLY frustrating! The phone is two weeks old, and I cannot use to for a huge chunk of functionality.
It's not a dead spot on the touch screen. When I am not trying to access the keyboard, that little bottom left corner works fine to open/use my Phone app.
I really don't want to reset my phone. Any other ideas?
I made a Genius Bar appointment for next Wednesday 4/15, but that seems like an eternity from now.
    Please help!

To make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using any backup data afterwards. Set up the rest of the personal settings manually and test the Touch Screen . If it still does not work, this is a hardware issue and the phone has to be serviced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider:

  • MacBook Pro 17" late 2009 - Black screen on boot, not even a grey screen

    Got a monstrous problem.
Started up my MacBook Pro (bought in Feb. This year, core 2 duo 2.88GHz/4 Gb RAM - basically the top specced model.)
Booted up today, no grey start-up screen. No screen at all. Yet I can still log into Snow Leopard, but again no screen. Rebooted into boot camp, heard windows start. Managed to log in again no screen. Volume controls, keyboard illumination work. Just a black screen.
I have tried resetting PRAM, etc. with no success. Cannot use hardware test as the screen simply does not start.
Any ideas before I throw the effing thing from a 5th floor window in frustration?
Is this the Nvidia problem other folk have experienced?
I am tempted to ask for a new machine spending 2 months on and off with my previous MacBook Pro in and out of repair if this is a hardware problem that has been fixed in recent Macs.
    Regards,
    J

I had the same problem just now. My 15" MBP (6.2). I followed the following steps and it worked for me. I used another Mac in my house to use screen sharing to accomplish these things:
    1) access the /private/var/vm/ directory on the nonworking computer from the working computer. This is invisble so you will have to press cmdshiftg in the finder and go to /volumes/YOURHARDDISKNAME/private/var/vm to get there or use an application that lets you view invisble folders like PathFinder.
    2) delete the sleepimage file
    3) delete the /system/library/extensions.mkext file
    4) eject the drive (drag to the trash)
    5) press the power button to turn off the non working computer
    6) turn the nonworking computer back on normally(cross your fingers) then if it works,
    7) open up the the terminal.app in /applications/utilities
    8) type sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0
    9) make sure there is no sleepimage file again
That worked for me...hope it helps for you!

  • Bad screen? I cant tell

    Hi There,
about 4 days ago I rushed to my semi local computer store to find that they finally had touches in stock. But unfortunately it is a 9c37 one...however i got it home, 0 dead pixels, and I cant even really tell if it has negative blacks or not. I tried the lagom site but i just dont know, is there any other way to test if my screen is bad. And it came with 1.1.1 preloaded so could it be refurbished or something?
    Thanks

unlike some other electronics manufacturers, apple actually sells refurbished ipods as being refurbished- not new. anyways, about the first question, if it doesnt bother you, is there a problem? my first one i noticed, so it was an issue. if you cant see it, no problem. thats the way i see it atleast if you checked all the screens on that site. check the one with the grey squares over the white background though. thats the one that should tell you whats goin on.

  • Part of the screen turns black

Hi, I have a Lenovo x240 with Windows 7 professional. I am very happy with it except that, around 30% of the time when it wakes up from a sleep or a hibernate, about a fifth of the screen on the right turns black. To turn it back on, I have to do Function F7 to put  the output to duplicate or extend, where the entire screen is normal again, and then put it back to "computer only" to restore the resolution. That resolves the issue of the black screen, but it becomes annoying over time. I have installed the latest Lenovo graphics driver updates. That seemed to improve the situation, because before installing the updates, it happened around 50% of the time. I have also tested if the screen is responsive when it is black. It is responsive during this state, and it seems to be a display problem, and not a hardware problem. Has anyone encountered this issue?

    Hi Lenovouser12382,

  • Dvi - no signal on new screen

    Hi,
I got my new Acer AL2423 yesterday, very nice screen, but I only get it to work on VGA and on not so good resolution, 1600x1200. When DVI is connected 'no signal' only comes up on the screen. According to Acer the screen will know if it's digital or analog signals, so there is no button or anything like that on the screen to switch. What can be wrong? Graphic card? (Nvidia GeForce Fx5200 64mb), have never been running the computer (PM 2x1.8) with a dvi screen before, only a vga screen. The call was disconnected when I talked to Acer (after been waiting over 15 min to get through, phew), so all my questions wasn't answered. Thought I would check out a few more things before calling back and heading into that cue again, with mac folks etc.
I've been resetting PRAM a few times with no different result. Is there anything more I can do? It's DVI-D on the screen and DVI-I on the graphic-card on the PM, but that should work, shouldn't it? I am no screen wizard, have only had one screen with my PM all the time. Will soon get my MBP from service (with a fixed lidlock) and so I can test if the screen and DVI works on that one. That could exclude anything wrong with the screen for instance. It would be nice if you had any qualified thoughts that could help me after a night of googling, searching and testing?

After I removed the card and replaced it I couldn't get a signal on VGA either. So I guess I wont bother to test the ADC port with that result. Will make another try tomorrow to be certain, but it seems like the card is gone. I guess the flimmering that has been going on for a few months on the old screen had more to do with the graphic card then the other screen then. I thought the screen were getting old....but well the g-card is older Was some weird color flashes that happened as well on VGA when I tested around on the G5.
The screen is btw wonderful when running on MBP, and how less complicated computer problems gets when having 2 computer, can't even imagine how life was before.
    Again, thank guys....

    Thank you

    Hello ABAP_SAP_ABAP ,
Youneed to select the option "generate template data " and then on the displaying template there you will see the option for editing in the top left corner toolbar.
Then after editing you can do a XMl syntax check and test your proxy.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
