TG582n Modem not recognised

Hi
I am trying to configure my external HDD with my TG582n (telstra supplied) modem and my MacBook Air.
I am hoping to plug the HDD into the modem and allow sharing of files over my home network.
The modem works great as a router and we can all access the Wi-fi and printers etc, but when attempting to access the files on the modem (listed as Technicolour in the Shared Devices file), I am told that it is not supported.
The Technicolour gateway and configuration page for the modem recognises the HDD, but not my MacBook.
I use Mac OS X Lion
Any advice would be great.

  • Help - PowerBook 520c modem not recognised

I recently resurrected an old PowerBook 520c from my back shed. I was on the verge of binning it but tried installing some software for it. Could not find the original 7.6 disks it came with. But managed to find a Performa 7.5.1 CD which by SCSSI was able to connect it to my LC630.
To keep this post short the PowerBook boots up fine but I think i am missing something vital for it to "see" the modem. Just out of curiosity I tried dialling in to my ISP but no luckk. "Serial port is used by another application" or something along those lines.
I downloaded MacPPP on my current PowerBook G4 in the hope of "kick starting" the modem .
I vaguely using Config PPP in the old days. What do I need to tell the PowerBook there is a modem in there and that it isn'[t really a Performa. Do I need to download Global modem software. If so, any ideas where I may get it from.
    Thanks anyone.
    Cheers from Oz

JoeYou feel that i should get hold of the OS specific for the PowerBook, huh.Not quite. PBs 5x0 can run Systems/OSs from 7.1.1 to 8.1, but the latter requires the full complement of RAM (36MB) to run 8.0/8.1 elegantly. I don't know of a PB 5x0-specific CD, so your need is for a 'full install' set of floppies or a 'retail' CD. Just be prepared for the fact that the 7.5.3 download is 19 floppies. (Guess why CD-ROM was 'in' thereafter.) If you can attach a SCSI CD-ROM to your PB, using a CD (say one of OS 7.6.1, or 7.5.5, which do exist) will save your hair.
Unless your internal modem is far out, installation of a new OS will provide a new modem CCL (script) for whatever modem is in the PB. You need to know who the modem's maker is so that you can choose the relevant modem in Modem control panel.
The aforementioned AAUI port on the back is Apple's guess at the time, before there was an agreed ethernet port standard. The AAUI/RJ-45 adapter will bridge from the PB's AAUI port to a standard Cat5e ethernet patch (or a crossover) cable.
The way i have been getting CD roms thru to the PowerBook has been by SCSI the Performa with CD to the PowerBook. This sounds like SCSI disk mode, which, for all the reasons mentioned above, is NBG for the purpose of System/OS installation onto the PB.
For some reason the PowerBook won't SCSI with my external CD Rom which I used to use all the time in the mid 90s with my 475!Ah! That's because the PB is an older PowerBook. Very genteel. Very stylish. And utterly maddening. It has a compact HDI-30 SCSI port, not the DB-25 port used by desktops. It needs either a special HDI-30 (with only 29 pins and a light grey jacket) to CN-50 adapter, or a switchable 30/29-pin adapter and conventional peripheral CN-50/CN-50 cable, to connect successfully to the CD-ROM. Hold fast to the idea that it can be done (I use it often). There must also be a pass-through terminator between the CD-ROM and the PB. Fortunately, the CD-ROM, if it is one of Apple's, will supply termination power to the daisy-chain, and be terminated on the remote side.
The explanation takes longer than the setup does when you have the gear. There is more about this process in one of the previous posts if you need it.

  • USB Modem not being recognised in OSX

Sorry if this is being posted in the wrong forum.
I have an oldish Usb modem (Intel(R) AnyPoint(R) DSL Modem 3240 http://www.intel.com/support/network/dslmodems/sb/CS-009978.htm) that I have been using for a while with my PC laptop.
I have recently updated to a MacBook and was expecting this modem to be fine since it has worked succesfully with a friends older iBook (he simply plugged in the usb cable and was able to connect to the internet once I gave him the Username/Password. No software installation was required) but on my MacBook the modem doesnt seem to be recognised.
I have followed the install instructions to the letter but when it comes to plugging in the usb modem nothing happens and no modem is found (the l.e.d on the front of the modem stays off)
If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. I only need access to broadband very occassionaly and would like to avoid having to buy a new modem. Thanks
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Generally usb modems don't work or don't work well on Macs
IMO, that is a bit of a sweeping statement. Most people in the UK use a USB modem, not least because they were supplied free by your ISP.
    Get a modem with ethernet
Better still get a router, which what many UK ISPs now provide free.

  • AirPort express not recognising internet signal from cable modem

my airport express is not recognising the internet connection. It is connected directly via a cable modem (which has full strength when connected directly to the PC) and when networked to the PC it shows in airport utility but when configuring it returns an error message saying it is not recognising an internet signal. the unit can't be faulty as I have just replaced this one with a brand new replacement and the problem is the same. Is there a setting i have missed which is not allowing the signal through from the modem ?

It is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle of your networking gear whenever you change network hardware. Please check out the following AirPort User Tip for details on how to do so.

  • My Imac late 2012 running Yosemite does not recognise my Huawei 3g usb modem. itried to install Java bt still it does not although the same modem works with my MacBook pro . any help please

My Imac late 2012 running Yosemite does not recognise my Huawei 3g usb modem. itried to install Java bt still it does not although the same modem works with my MacBook pro . any help please

    Hey there mbarikiwa,
If your iMac still has not recognized the usb modem, I would use the troubleshooting for Yosemite USB issues in the following article:
OS X Yosemite: If a USB device isn’t working
If the device is connected to a USB hub:
Make sure the device and the hub are the same speed. Connect USB 3.0 SuperSpeed devices to a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed HUB, USB 2.0 Hi-Speed devices to a USB 2.0 Hi-Speed hub, and so on.
If the device doesn’t have a power cord and is plugged into another USB device that doesn’t have a power cord:
Try plugging the device directly into your computer’s USB port  or into a USB device that does have a power cord. You might need to disconnect and reconnect the other device as well, if it has stopped responding.
If you have many devices connected to your Mac:
Disconnect all USB devices except the device you’re testing, an Apple keyboard, and an Apple mouse. Make sure that the device is connected directly to the computer, and that any hubs or extension cables are disconnected. If you can use the device now, the problem may be with one of the other USB devices or hubs you had connected to your computer. Try reconnecting them, one by one, to your computer. When you find the device causing the problem, review its documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
Verify that the device appears in System Information:
Choose Apple menu > About This Mac. In the window that appears, click Overview, then click the System Report button to open System Information.
In the window that appears, see if the USB device is listed below Hardware in the Contents list. If the device appears but does not work, review the device’s documentation for further troubleshooting steps.
    Restart apps:
Quit and restart any apps that use the device.
    Restart your Mac:
    Choose Apple menu > Restart.
    Check your device’s USB connection
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Cellular modem is not recognised by Leopard

Hi. My CMOTech CCU-550 cellular modem worked fine with 10.4.10.
Since I installed Leopard, even after checking all the configurations I keep getting the message that "the device does not exist" when I try to connect.
My supplier tech support does not support (ie does not know anything about) macs...
Anybody out there with any ideas?

I'm using a HUAWEI HSDPA USB Modem to access the internet via GPRS 2G & 3G. (Vodafone NZ)
Activity Monitor in Tiger showed up and downloads in Network, in Leopard nothing.
Tiger's Internet connect is now part of Leopard's System Prefs > Network.
I use the modem status icon from there, on the menu bar, to get online.
Does System Pref > Network show the modem?
Do you have a Mac OSX disc from your internet provider? if so check for an update, reinstall anyway.
I often get the modem not found message after a restart. Unplug from USB count slowly to 10 and reattach, wait for a minute and try again. Try a different USB if available. If you have third party connect software from your internet provider try that, three or four times somedays. Try alternating with the menu bar option.
Mine tells me to use the Internet connect App which of course doesn't exist in Leopard. I use the menu bar option instead. Seems to take a while to get noticed some days
I use CheetahWatch software to keep track now Activity Monitor no longer works. It works, very well.
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/33154
    Hope this helps.
Cut out again with modem not found ~ only had to try three times
It wasn't any better with Tiger.

  • Equium M50 will not recognise the LAN port - error: Network Cable unplugged

I own a Toshiba Equium M50 and have problems with the Marvell Yukon 88E8036 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller.
I used to connect via an 'ADDON' Modem/ADSL Switch and had no problems. I then replaced the ADDON with a 'NETGEAR' DG834G ADSL Modem/Router to gain the wireless port, and since then my machine will not recognise the LAN port. <error: Network Cable unplugged>.
I know that the cables are OK as I used them with other laptops and had no trouble. I can also plug in a PCI card to connect without any problems. It looks to me as if the Marvell Yukon 88E8036 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller has a problem with the netgear Modem/Router.
Anyone out there with a similar experience and some advice/suggestions?
    PLEASE

    Hi
For me it doesnt show like a LAN card problem but your router is a problem.
Check the device manager if the LAN card was properly recognized. If there are no yellow exclamation marks so everything is ok!
You can try to delete the LAN card from the device manager and after new reboot install the LAN driver again.
The issue has stared after installing or connecting the new Netgear modem router.
Therefore I would recommend to checking firstly the settings or to update the firmware on this router.

  • 6th generation Ipod nano not recognised in itunes

When I plug my ipod into my laptop, it is recognised in my computer but not in itunes or as a device when trying to safely remove it.
I tried plugging my 4th generation ipod nano into my laptop but again the same thing happens.
I tried plugging it into a different laptop and my 4th generation was recognised but my 6th wasn't. In another laptop, my 6th generation was recognised in itunes and worked fine.
I have tried resetting my ipod both ways, uninstalling itunes and reinstalling, using different USB ports and uninstalling everything apple related and reinstalling it but that hasn't solved the problem.
My laptop was sent away to have the hard drive replaced and this problem has happened since but that doesn't explain why it worked in another laptop but not in another one.
Can anyone suggest anything else I could do to try to make it work?
    My laptop runs windows 7.
    Thank you!

I've tried all of the USB 2.0 ports on my laptop and I have tried using a different cable.
I've tried resetting the ipod whilst connected to the laptop and still isn't recognised.
I am working through the iPod not recognised in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows:
    Step 1: didn't help
    Step 2: didn't help
    Step 3: didn't help
Step 4: Empty your Temp directory and restart - When I tried to delete the Temp folder, a message came up saying 'action can't be completed because the folder or file is open in another program' but I didn't have anything else open so I can't delete that folder.
Step 5: Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed - when I opened the Device Manager window, it was empty, there was nothing, so I couldn't continue with that step.
    Step 6: didn't help
Step 7: I've already tried to remove and reinstall iTunes and it hasn't helped
Step 8: Disable conflicting System Services and Startup Items - I did this and restarted my laptop then tried opening iTunes but it said Bonjour had been disabled so I enabled it but setting it to Automatic and then opened iTunes but the iPod still wasn't recognised.
Step 9: I turned off security and tried but he iPod still wasn't recognised
Step 10: doesn't apply to me as I'm using Windows 7
I've tried the steps in iPod troubleshooting assistant and they haven't helped.
I've put it into disk mode and its still not recognised.
    My ipod isn't Macintosh-formatted.
My ipod doesn't sync via FireWire.
I have now worked through each and every single suggestion from Apple.
I have run a device connectivity test with the iPod attached and here are the results:

  • Can some one help me reinstall my MP640 software on my Imac and macbook pro? as the software does not recognise os 10.7.5

My Imac and macbook pro stopped accessing my MP640 via the home wifi set up, so I sent all the canon software to the trash on both computers, thinking I should reinstall the software I got with the printer, but the software does not recognise os 10.7.5. I am using a netgear modem. I also use time machine to back up to time capsule.

  • IPhone "Usb Not Recognised"

Hi, I know there have been loads of similar questions since the iOS 5 and Itunes 10.6 update. I recently got a new laptop and have tried to plug my iPhone in for the first time yet a "Usb Device is not Recognised" keeps showing up. My iPhone does not show up in iTunes or on My Computer. I have tried and followed almost every trouble shooter including:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 ( Please so not give me this link, I have tried every step on it about 500 times =.=)
    http://http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292
iTune's Diagnostics (which have lead me back to the links above)
Selective Startup only having iTunes start up.
    Restarting my laptop.
Making a new "Inbound Rule" through Windows Firewall for iTunes.
    Checked my USB cable etc.
    Getting recognised as a Camera
Uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes + everything published by Apple Inc.
Deleted everything under the Universal Serial Bus Controllers, restarted my laptop so that it reinstalled them then plugged in my iPhone.
I've stopped the Apple Mobile Device service, plugged my iPhone in, then restarted the service.  The same message pops up.
I'm pretty confident it is a problem to do with my iPhone 3G as I have tried it on multiple different computers with different Apple USB cords and it has always come up with the same message.

I have also found in my iTunes diagnostics log above ^^ it says that iTunes is not enabled by Windows Firewall, even though I have it enabled and followed http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2553 to enable it and the iTunes box was already checked. However, I do have 3rd party Antivirus software running (Norton Internet Security) Could this be conflicting with windows firewall? If so, how do I turn off the firewall in the Norton program so that it stops conflicting with it.
And if this is relevant, I also found that
Connection attempt to firmware update server was unsuccessful.
    The network connection timed out.
    Is is this important?
    Thanks in advance.

  • PC Suite not recognising any connection

Having recently updated to the newer model 6120c from my previous 6230i I reinstalled PC Suite for ease of transferring data from my PC to my handset but have found that when I reach the 'Get Connected' page of the installation where it asks me to 'Select the connection type' I have no options active at all and when I make certain that the phone is connected to the cable which is fully plugged into a USB port it still will not show any active options for me to select from. I had no problems connecting the previous 6230i via the cable connection and am currently at a loss on how to solve this issue. It may be with the limited amount of services that I have running that I may have inadvertantly turned off an essential service that is required to have PC Suite running. Or maybe it could be that I have a selective start up, but upon investigating the system config utility I do note that there is a launch application checked for a Nokia service to start up so at this point I am open to any helpful suggestions that may assist in the solution to my problem.
Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.

PC Operating System: XP Pro SP2
    Connection Method: Cable
    Handset: Nokia 6120c (Classic)
    PC Suite Version: 6.84.78.3

Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002
    Service Pack 2
    Nokia PC Suite 7.1.18.0
    Cable Type: DKE-2
I have a problem with PC suite; it doesn’t allow me to connect to my Nokia N95 and maybe my other Nokia phones; as the get connected wizard shows three greyed out options. These options are Cable connection, Infrared connection and Bluetooth connection. These are found under the select connection type. I have already un and then reinstalled three times, tried to repair the installation and installed the drivers separately. The previous 7.0 version worked fine, but by updating I can no longer connect my phone through PC suite mode. Data transfer, image print and media player work fine. The USB symbol does appear on top of the phone screen, but still no phone connected.
When I click on ‘click here to connect a phone’ a
    Menu pops up:
Get Connected - Troubleshoot Titled  Problems with Infrared connection?  I don’t even have infrared or Bluetooth on my laptop.
The computer does however make a noise to show that something has been connected to the laptop, “tun-nuh” when I connect via PC suit mode.
When I click on one touch access, it says no phones connected, there are no Nokia modems installed, make sure you have installed Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver software. Settings spanner icon, Select modem, and from here I can chose Nokia N95 USB Modem, and then my network operator.
Sometimes when I connect the phone, it says the USB device is not recognised and has malfunctioned. But, when I continue to replug into the different sockets; it starts to install new device found Nokia N95, phone parent, sync-ml… until it finally says your new device is ready.
Please do help, if you can.
    Thank you!

  • KT4 Ultra PCI slot not recognising Audigy

Just wondering if you guys could help me out on this.
I have a KT4 Ultra mobo with two of the six PCI slots occupied by a generic/Conexant ADSL modem and the card part of an Audigy 2 Platinum eX. Everything was working fine until two days ago. Then, I opened my case to read the details of the PSU (for a proposed graphics card purchase that has now been canned due to said PSU being underpowered). However, when I booted up again neither the sound card nor the modem were recognised in Windows. I rebooted several times and the problem remained. So, I removed the case and moved the cards into different slots. I booted up again and there were 8 beeps, a pause, and then a further 2 beeps, but nothing appeared on the screen. I moved the cards around again and ensured that they were seated firmly in the slots. The PC then booted up but nothing appeared on the screen. I fixed this by pushing the graphics card (Radeon 9000 Pro) more firmly into its slot - presumably it had come unseated somehow when I had opened the case. This time, the PC booted up and, although the modem was recognised, it would not connect. I reinstalled the modem drivers and then it connected and functioned fine, however the sound card remains undetected. Should I try to reseat the card in its current slot or should I move it to a different slot? I just don't want to cause another problem by disturbing everything!
Apologies for my general newbieness: despite being a computer science student I have never built a PC myself and would consider myself a novice when it comes to the practical side of PC hardware. I guess I should take apart and rebuild the nine-year-old PC that is sitting in the garage!
    Thanks for your help,
    Nick

  • Apple airport express not recognised

I have a new iMac running on Yosemite and an old(ish) first gen apple airport express which allows me to stream itunes to my nice big speaker and that works great.
Also have an Apple TV, an iphone and an iPad and they all talk to each other fine.
Have bought another, second hand, first gen (model number A1088) apple airport express as I want to get another nice speaker for another room so I can have music streaming throughout the house.
However, when I plug this second apple airport express in all I get is a flashing amber light and it's not recognised on the airport utility on the mac or on my iphone.
When I disconnect my original apple airport express and leave the 2nd one still connected I "think" my Mac detects it but it says the Airport Utility does not work with this device.
    Can anyone please help?
I have power cycled everything (inc modem/router) and no change.
    Thanks

Believe it or not I have got it all working.
I ethernet connected the troublesome AE to my router, downloaded AU 5.6 and configured it to join my existing home wifi network.
Yes my iMac's and iPhone's AU won't allow me to change any settings but they both now see it.
If I want to make any changes I just use the AU 5.6 that I now have on my iMac. And any changes I want to make on the AE which I have been successfully using I just use the Yosemite AU.
All good. Now off to go shopping for a nice powered speaker.
