Upgrade 10.1.0.5 to 10.2.0.4 on Solaris SPARC 64bit (on VCS) Hangs

Hi
Im in progress of upgrading a 10.1.0.5 Database to 10.2.0.4 on Solaris SPARC 64bit with VCS installed.
I installed the base 10.2.0.1 and then 10.2.0.4 and then CPUJAN2010 without failure. I began the upgrade as per the b14238.pdf (Oracle® Database Upgrade Guide 10g Release 2 (10.2) B14238-02 January 2008)
Its seems hung since last Friday morning, but the smon process is first on "top" command so it must be doing something.
Any idea how I can resolve this issue?

I get the feeling that not all the info has been written to this file.
Previous to this the database took 1.5 - 2 hours to shutdown immediate (straight after startup restrict) with smon process using lots of cpu...may be related to above problem.

  • Upgrade from 4x2 GB to 2x8 GB Ram results in strange Windows 7 64bit behavior

I wanted to upgrade my System, swapped the 4x2 GB (Adata 1600G) to 2x8 GB (G.Skill F3-2133C9D 16GXH) Ram to the Dual Channel Slots (2 x Blue)
The System asks me to enter Setup with F1 recognizing the mem change.
I have OC Genie active and tried it later without.
When I boot to Windows with the new RAM my NVIDIA Card has a yellow exclamation mark in my device list. Also NVIDIA Software can`t access the card telling me I would have not such an device active. I tried to reinstall the drivers without success.
I tried a couple of changes in bios and rebootet, but gave up after 40 Minutes of experimenting.
After I went back to my old RAM the system runs smooth like always.
Now I hope someone here can give me the right advice what to do, or ì`ll sent them back to the shop.
    System:
    MSI Z68A-GD80 (B3) (MS-7672) (Bios V20.1 01/09/2013)
    Intel Core I5-2500k @ 4200
    NVIDIA N560GTX-Ti
    New Ram: G.Skill RipjawsX F3-2133C9D 16GXH
    Old Ram: A-data 1600G @ 667 MHZ
    What I did:
1 G.Skill Ram in DIMM1 works good, also with OC
changed the other one G.Skill module workd ok (to be sure both are ok)
as soon as I add the second RAM NVIDIA Card doesnt work correctly, some programs give me strange warnings, blue screens, random crashes.
I choosed DIMM1 + 3 (Blue) or DIMM2 +4 and all other positions with no good result.
Even with default settings no luck.
i get the following error on my nvidia card in the device manager
"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"
Is it an error on the motherboard ?
How can I proof that? Any tools ? I`m really out of ideas ...
    Thank you

  • ORA-29958 when upgrading 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.1 on Solaris 10 using DBUA

    Hello,
We are working in our test environment on our upgrade process from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.1. I have cloned a copy of our Production database to support this effort. During the upgrade process using DBUA, we consistently receive an error. The error is encountered when DBUA is at 79% and the exact error information is:
ORA-29958: fatal error occurred in the execution of ODCIINDEXCREATE routine
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SQL", line 1053
    ORA-06512: at line 6
I'm given the option to Ignore or Abort in DBUA.
From the upgrade log file the error is the same:

I've gone through metalink, google and some listservs that are particular to my industry and have tried many ways to solve this but still haven't been able to overcome this problem.
Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?

Thank you for the warm welcome as well as your response Srini :-) I have entered an SR with Oracle but to date they haven't been able to help so I thought I would try the community to see if anyone else has seen this problem.

  • Upgradeing oracle 9i Windows 32 bit to Oracle 10.2.0.3 Windows 64bit

I have a DB in oracle 9.2.0.5. I have two questios
1 ) How can I upgrade this to Widnows 64 bit oracle 10.2.0.3 without doing an export import.
    2) Is it possible to upgrade 9.2.0.5 straight to 10.2.0.3 Windows 64 bit without export import.
My plan is to copy the 9i DB to Windows 10.2.0.3 64 bit server , startup upgrade, then run utlip.sql and utlrp.sql.
    Thank you

Just copy the datafiles and upgrade your database directly onto your target system, that'll convert automatically your db in 64-bit :
"+If you are installing 64-bit Oracle Database 10g software but were previously using a 32-bit Oracle Database installation, then the databases will automatically be converted to 64-bit during the upgrade to Oracle Database 10g except when upgrading from Release 1 (10.1) to Release 2 (10.2).+"

  • Upgrade apache from 2.0.63 to 2.0.65 in Solaris 10

    Hello All,
Any person knows if Oracle have upgrade plan to support higher Apache version than 2.0.63 in Solaris 10?
    Regards
    AD

This is not planned for the moment, but you can still open a service request and explain why you want this specific version.
If this is to fix latest security alerts noted in the 2.0.65 change log, then install our latest Apache 2.0 patch. All these alerts are fixed in the latest patch we provide.

  • Solaris SPARC upgrade failing

I am trying to apply a Solaris 10 upgrade release to my E450 server, but get the following error during the install process:
"Could not reinitialize system state, please exit installer and try again"
Retrying the upgrade gives the same error.
The current release on the server is 10 1/06 and I am trying to move this on to 10 11/06.
Anyone got any idea what it is complaining about, the upgrade process worked OK on my V480/V490 servers!.

Obviously Sun (excuse me, Oracle) does not intend to support the solaris-10/sparc/firefox-3.6 combination. Firefox 3.6 requires the NPAPI and/or NPRuntime interfaces to java, but oracle does not provide the new "libnpjp2.so" java plugin with the jre-6u18-sparc-solaris java download.
A search at www.oracle.com does not turn up any support announcement about this. You have to learn it the hard way. :(
If you want to continue to use sparc-solaris, downgrade to firefox-3.5 so you can use the old libjavaplugin_oji.so module. Otherwise run Linux or Mac OS X to stay in the unix camp.

  • Upgrading 11.5.10.2 to R12 - 2 nodes - DB 10.2.0.2 - Solaris SPARC

    Guys,
We are upgrading our 11.5.10.2 instance to R12. Ours is a 2 node installation. Node A has DB and Concurrent processing services and Node B has Web and Forms services. As per these guides, we have followed the all the steps and
started rapidwiz (Rapid wizard version 12.0.0.21). Here are the options we
    selected in the rapidwiz screens:
    1. "Upgrade to Oracle Applications Release 12" in the select wizard operation screen
    2. "Create Upgrade File System" in the Select Upgrade Action screen.
And then we entered the port details, Database Configuration and Application User information in the respective screens. Then we got the "Primary Applications Node configuration" screen.
    Here are our questions:
    1. We entered "Server A" as the DB host and "Server B" as the host for the primary application node. We are able to select the services for the Primary application node using the "edit services" option in the "Primary applications node configuration" screen. But there is no such option for selecting the services for "Server A" on which the CCMs would be running. So how can we make sure that the config file created by rapidwiz has the correct details. Do we need to add "Server A" as the secondary Applications node using the "Add Server" option in the "node information" screen.
    2. Rapid Install guide says "Using ftp, copy the
<10g ORACLE_HOME>/appsutil/conf_<SID>.txt configuration file to each Applications node" and then run rapidwiz on the application nodes like "rapidwiz -silent -config <configuration file>". Do we need to make any changes in the
configuration file before ftping it to the other node.
    3. As we mentioned earlier, our DB is already on 10.2.0.2. We use the same oracle home for many other databases. So we don't want autoconfig to run on the 10g Oracle home as it is shared by many other databases. Also we don't want to have separate oracle homes for all the instances running on the server A. But rapidwiz installs a new oracle home based on the details provided. So what are the
options we have for upgrading to R12 without affecting our existing oracle
    home.
Hoping to get an anwer from you guys.
    Thanks,
    John

    John,
    1. Yes, the R12 methodology is to assume the DB host will be a DB only host. If you still wnat to run concurrent managers there, you will need to add a host on the Applicatiosn Node screens.
    2. You should not need to modify the context file before copying/ftp-ing to the other server.
    3. Unless you are absolutely strapped for disk space, I have never advocated running other databases out of an Apps database oracle home. If you want to upgrade your Apps database to 10.2.0.3, then you cannot until all of the other database owners agree to the database upgrade. If you want to use your existing 10.2.0.2 Oracle Home, you will need to apply 35 RDBMS patches via opatch and complete all actions from the readmes.
Oracle 10gR2 Database Preparation Guidelines for an E-Business Suite Release 12 Upgrade
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=403339.1
It would be less work to accept the new rapid install delivered 10.2.0.2 Oracle Home, and leave your existing databases running out of the old 10.2.0.2 Oracle Home. Note 403339.1 was recently updated to indicate you can switch existing 10.2.0.2 Apps databases to the rapid install delivered Oracle Home.
If you follow the R12 upgrade doc (Oracle Applications Upgrade Guide: Release 11i to Release 12 (zipped) B31566-01), you can easily generate your 10gR2 context file and run autoconfig on the rapid install delivered 10.2.0.2 Oracle Home. If you are using the rapid install delivered 10.2.0.2 Oracle Home, you will not disrupt any other databases using your old 10.2.0.2 Oarcle Home.
Update the RDBMS ORACLE_HOME file system with AutoConfig files. On the application tier (as the APPLMGR user):
Log on to the APPL_TOP environment (source the environment file).
Run the following Perl script to create appsutil.zip in <INST_TOP>/admin/out.
    perl <AD_TOP>/bin/admkappsutil.pl
On the database tier (as the ORACLE user):
Copy or FTP the appsutil.zip file to the <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>.
    cd <RDBMS ORACLE_HOME>
    unzip -o appsutil.zip
2.Run AutoConfig on the database tier nodes.UNIX:

  • Once downloaded and unzipped, how does one upgrade Firefox on a Solaris Sparc machine?

I tried updater, run-mozilla.sh, firefox-bin. Or do we just replace the files in the current firefox directory?

After unzipping the file just copy or move the directory firefox to /usr/lib. You may wish to backup the original /usr/lib/firefox to something like /usr/lib/firefox.<date> before you start.

Now choose Oracle Database, scroll down to Solaris SPARC 64bit -> patch set versions 10.1.0.3 to 10.1.0.5.
As far as I know, I dont deal with Client installs much, you can upgrade both Client and Database with the "Database" patch sets.

  • Can't find wfaqupfix.sql

    hi !
Iam upgrading the database from 11.1 to 11.2.x in EBS12 on solaris sparc 64bit.
I am following the post install steps as stated in document id 1058763.1 and got stuck on step 21 cause the $FND_TOP/patch/115/sql/wfaqupfix.sql file is missing.

iam at release 12.1 so which patch would i need ?
    regards
    Hi Sami,
    Are you on 12.1.1 ? Or 12.1.2 ? Or 12.1.3?
Please run this query and post the output so I can provide you the patch number:
    SQL> select b.FILE_VERSION_ID,b.FILE_ID,b.VERSION
    from AD_FILES a, AD_FILE_VERSIONS b
    where a.file_id = b.file_id
    and a.filename like 'wfaqupfix.sql';
    Thanks,
    Hussein

    "Installations and Upgrades
Installations and Upgrades" SAP Technology Components" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER" SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.0 EHP 1 "
