Video Puzzle Usability

How does one get the JavaFX runtime.I have JRE 1.6_11 installed.I tried accessing the video puzzle demo, without success ,kept giving me an unsupported media type exception. It seemed i hadnt downloaded JavaFX can u imagine, and i had the SDK and all.I only got auto-directed to download it when i tried to access the JavaFX launch Videos.I think there should also be a direct link to download the FX runtime on d javafx.com site. And also close to each example it should be in ur face ow to get the run-time and nt just the SDK.Sun Enginers shud please check out all the demos very well on virgin systems. Also the auto-dowlnoad should be configured on all examples.U guys r supposed to Lead not be Lead.Thanks.The whole experience for now is confusing.

I also get this error while trying to watch the JavaFx Launch Videos.

  • My MP4 video's dont playback sound in premiere 13

I have a few issues with Adobe Premiere that have me very upset . 1. I had premier 11 had the same issue , so talked with your sales rep , he said the files would playback with sound if I upgraded ..so I dug deep threw down the coin ..and upgraded , problem is still there.  so I was lied too to make money. 2. Your organizer leaves a lot to be desired and should be set up a bit different to make it easier to download and not duplicate files ...or if you as I did download a file and it doesn't work correctly , you should be able to replace it with out deleting it and starting over ...  You should also be able to drag drop files between folders etc... I have one huge album with everything in it ..which is not what I was looking to do ... OK now to my main issue  where the blank is the freaking sound  to my video downloads ? I run windows 8 (which like adobe premier sucks ) light room = awesome program ...   my files are downloaded from my Verizon galaxy g2 phone as an mp4 file ...they play fine in light room (odd they will preview play there but not premier and premier is a video editing program ) work well in media player as well ... same as on video player with windows 8 ...but no freaking sound in premier 13 , this is frustrating ....it has no sound in the editor or in the organizer ....WHY ???? Is there a free program or way to convert them to a different codec or file type so I can edit them with the sound in premier???  I don't want to have to buy more programs to compensate for what should already be capable in premier 13 ... maybe I am missing something and the program is fine, and a good quality item  ..but I am not seeing it ...    would not have upgraded had I know there was no valuable  improvements from premier 11 , and that the audio would not work with my videos ... it also does not play with MP3 files from my older phone ....  sad and upsetting because my granddaughters birth , first birthday , Christmas etc are all recorded in these MP3 , MP4 files /format which does not produce sound in premier 13 ...so I have important once in a life time family memories recorded but cannot edit with sound....errrr

Lightroom is awesome .... not sure what gives with premier 13 , and again maybe its me ....missing something

This is not Adobe. Rather it is a user to user forum. You need to contact Adobe via its Adobe Chat if you require direct contact with Adobe. If you purchase Premiere Elements 13 from Adobe within the last 30 days, you should be able to get your money back.
When you are interested in going to a new version for whatever reason, I would encourage you to evaluate the free 30 day tryout of the program before any thoughts of purchase to assure the compatibility of your program with your computer operating system and your project goals. This gives you the opportunity to trust claims but to verify before purchase.
Premiere Elements 13 on Windows 8 (assumed 64 bit)
Cell phone video is often recorded with a variable rather than a constant frame rate. Premiere Elements 13 is not unique in having problems with the variable frame rate. The problems can run from out of sync audio or not being able to import the file at all. A typical solution is to take the video into a program such as HandBrake to change the variable to a constant bitrate, obtaining a H.264.mp4 file.
Movie Maker 2012 often is a good choice for converting problematic video to usable video in Premiere Elements. That program offers a .wmv as well as a .mp4 export choice.
As for video from your older phone, you could take the .mp3 into iTunes and convert the .mp3 to .wav and determine if that resolves the issue.
Are any iTunes music involved in any of this?
I hesitate to ask because you seemed to have said that you worked with version 11 before, but I will ask nonetheless so as not to take anything for granted.
Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements 13 (can you see QuickTime presets in the Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime area? Are you running the program from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?  What players do you have installed on your computer?
And, if MPEG2 is in the mix along with Windows Media Player, remember that Windows 8 and Microsoft have a MPEG2 issue there.
My first target is assuring that you have video and audio presenting in the Premiere Elements 13 Editor. After that is established, then we can take on the Elements Organizer 13 issues.
Please review and consider. If you decide to move forward with your projects, we can sort through the details to seek solutions. We would glad
for the opportunity to be of assistance.

  • Practical suggestions for splitting up long sequences

    Hi
I have recently done a video shoot for a wedding and I have lots of material. A lot of it is just continuous recordings where I do multiple retakes on videoing the flowers or dress or location. I want to be able to split up an hour long video into usable chunks that I can give a sensible name. Is there an easy way in CS3 to mark multiple in/out points on a video that would be listed as separate videos in my content bin or something to that effect? The videos where captured as avi so the alternative would be to use a different program to cut up the videos and then re-import. Any suggestions as to how I can achieve this would be very much appreciated.
    Best Regards

Double-click on the clip in the Project Panel to open it in the Source View monitor. Set In and Out points and drag the image from the Source View monitor to the Project Panel. A dialog box will pop up and ask you for a clip name. Set new In and Out points. Drag to the Project Panel. Repeat as desired.
This workflow has the advantage of using a single source file, but with multiple clips in the bin.

  • What caused this blockiness - dirty heads?

    http://idisk.mac.com/denis.murphy-Public/viking.jpg
Not a FCP question, but I could do with some opinions. I lent my Canon XH A1 to a friend last week and he shot two hours of video at an event. He's not a pro shooter, and didn't really test the camera beforehand, although he did spend a few hours familiarising himself with the controls. None of the video is usable (see link). I assume this was caused by dirty heads. AFAIK he never got the "dirty heads" warning that the XH A1 is supposed to flash up in the viewfinder (not that you'd depend on that).
I've cleaned the heads since, and can't reproduce the problem. He was shooting DV-Pal anamorphic. The tape brand is Sony DVM60 ME, bought new from a reliable dealer. I've shot test footage at the end of one of his tapes, and there were no problems.
The weird thing is, if I play back the tape on a Sony handycam, the blockiness is not as pronounced, although still unusable. But on the Canon, the footage seems to deteriorate with each play,
My friend captured all his footage to FCP from the Canon and the blockiness on his capture is not as pronounced (similar to when I play back in the handycam).
I know this footage probably can't be saved but can anyone have a look at the link and confirm that this is in fact just a dirty head problem? I don't want this to happen to me on a shoot!
I've had the camera for a couple of years (very lightly used) and never had a problem with dirty heads.
    Any ideas?

Been talking to my friend again, more info:
He did a short test the night before the shoot and there were streaky dropouts on the tape (Tape 1). He thought it might be a bad tape and re-tested with a different tape of the same brand (Tape 2)). The re-test was a static shot with no movement, and it looked fine (in retrospect, the buffering could have masked the problem). So he went ahead and did the shoot using the Tape 2 and another tape (Tape 3) of the same brand.
He didn't review Tape 2 in the field, so we can't say if it was good. Rechecked a couple of shots on Tape 3.
He got home and captured Tape 3, as it was still in the camera. Good footage, no problems. Tape 2 however played back with blocky pixels. He cleaned the heads at that point, but the blockiness persisted. He nevertheless captured Tape 2. Both tapes were also checked on a different camcorder. No improvement.
On playback again in the Canon camera, the tapes deteriorated further. Tape 3 (the good tape) is now unusable, but luckily he got a good capture of this one.
I thought it might be a tension problem and FF/RW'd the tapes a few times, but no improvement.
Does it make sense for a head clog to appear, disappear, and reappear after shooting and capturing an entire tape (Tape 3)? And then destroy tape 3 on further playback? Or could there be something more sinister at play?

  • Editing/Archiving Codec

    Hello,
I have been searching through various forums and can't really find a possible suggestion/answer for what I am seeking. Additionally I apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong forum, not sure if I should post here or in the Prelude forum.
I have been getting the hang of Prelude and I am really liking the workflow and want to include Prelude in my daily workflow.
Right now I have a Sony handy cam which shoots AVCHD. I have a folder that has about 15 minutes or so of AVCHD footage straight from the camera and is just under 11GB in size. I want to use the Prelude workflow to ingest the footage and transcode it to one file with a unique name...rather than 20files of  00000.MTS, 00002.MTS, etc.
I am really struggling to find a decent codec. Just to compare file sizes with different codecs, I have imported the entire folder and did several transcode tests. All of them of are anywhere from 30GB on up in file size.
I have tried DNxHD, and various settings of it, AVC Intra and various settings of that as well but the file sizes they have produced are anywhere from 3 times to 6 times larger than the original AVCHD footage.
Can anyone recommend a codec that can be high quality for editing yet is not so ridiculous in file size? I really want to use PL to transocde my video to usable file names, etc but it's not worth it if I have to go from approx 11GB of storage space to 30-60GB of storage space for the same footage.
    Footage is AVCHD 1080P / 59.94
I hope I have explained this correctly.
All the apps are CC with latest updates.
    Thank you,
    Shane

Anything smaller will reduce the quality.  Keeping the quality will only inflate the size.
Your best option is to just use the original media.

  • Techniques for smooth continuous motion in a game

    Hello all,
I'm working on a brick-breaker variant and all is going well except for the motion of the ball-- it isn't as smooth as I'd like.  I've done some reading on the subject and have come away with two promising techniques for smooth continuous animation:
    1. Use time based position update functions rather than frame-based.  This basically allows you to cheat the SWF's FPS setting and make a certain object move more fluidly without jacking up the entire movie's FPS.  This is handy and does have a dramatic effect, but it also costs much CPU and/or battery power to process so it (might) not be suitable for continuous motion.  It is better left to tweens and other animations that are both short and critical.  Also, I found that in order to get the ball moving at a reasonable speed for difficult gameplay I had to either lower the time delay or increase the velocity modifier to the point that the ball appeared to half-vanish much of the time (presumably) because it was getting too far ahead of the movie's frame renderer.  As such, this method really isn't suitable for managing continuous core gameplay mechanics.
    2. Convert velocity modifiers to floating point values rather than integers.  This worked very well to smooth out the motion a bit, and has had no adverse side effects so far as I can see.  It doesn't quite get the ball to the level of smooth animation I'd like, however.
Currently my movie's FPS is set to 45 and I'd prefer not to go any higher than that if possible.  With floating point modifiers and 60 FPS everything is very smooth, but I am wary of using an FPS setting so high, particularly as this is eventually going to be a mobile app and therefore battery life is a consideration.  Does anyone know any more tricks to smooth continuous, game-mechanics-centric motion?
Is there perhaps any magic that can be worked with the new Stage Video API and/or any other hardware acceleration offered by flash player/AIR?  Is Stage Video even usable in iOS and/or Android apps created in Flash CS5?
    Thanks,
    CCJ

  • Creating an Animation with Edge | Learn Edge Preview 6 | Adobe TV

When Preview Release 1 arrived in mid-2011, Edge was able to move pixels from “here” to “there.” This video not only shows you how to move pixels, but also demonstrates how Edge vastly expands the creative possibilities for web-delivered motion graphics through the use of the timeline, keyframes, easing, and property manipulation.
    http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-edge-preview-6/creating-an-animation-in-edge-aka-visually- author-animated-content/

    Thanks for the video.
I am just starting with Edge, have reviewed a few examples, done a few lessons, and looked at some code.
Something about Edge, demonstrated in this video, puzzles me.
    The PIN mechanism seems counter-intuitive.
In this video, the "E" is at the bottom, you then click the PIN, slide the PIN HEAD to 1 sec, then move the "E" to the top of the screen/stage.
When you play it, you see the exact opposite. Instead of seeing the "E" move up to the top position over the time frame specified, you see it move from the top to the bottom during that time. That seems exactly backward to me.
Your comment "The motion moves towards the Play Head" seems backward to me.
Can you kindly explain your thinking behind making it work that way?
For me, having it at the bottom, setting some construct, and time frame, and then moving the "E" to the top, should result in the "E" going from the bottom to the top during the time frame specified. Is that not more intuitive?
    Thanks,
    Derrick

  • A puzzling video problem on a friend's Power G4 667Mhz

I don't know when it exactly happened, maybe around the same time she got DSL, but her PowerMac G4 667Mhz (Digital Audio) developed video problems.
Her video card is the stock Nvidia Geforce 2MX 32MB video card and her monitor is an clear enclosure Apple ADC 20"Cinema DIsplay.
There are video artifacts on the icons, edges and around the borders on the screen at bootup in either Mac OS 9 & Mac OS X Panther. The screen would return to "normal" with the artifacts gone when she puts the Mac to sleep and wake it up or if she changes the resolution but when she shuts it down and turns it back on, the artifacts return.
I tried zapping the pram and the artifacts went away but the moment she reboots, the artifacts are back again.
I also tried a LCD monitor with a vga analog connector on the vga port of her Geforce MX and it worked fine.
    I'm puzzled at this point.

Let me explain the situation more in detail:
Her 20" Apple Cinema Displey (the clear enclosure model with the ADC connector) does work, but on boot up the screen has artifacts and the artifacts will go away when she changes monitor resolution or when she sleep and wakes her PowerMac G4.
She has an analogue LCD from her nephews' PC and it works fine without artifacts when connected to her PowerMac G4's GeForce 2MX via VGA port.
I tried zapping the PRAM and the artifacts went away on the ADC Apple Cinema Display but the artifacts returned upon reboot.

Photo Stream does not do videos. For videos, you must import to your computer. You can use iPhoto to import them.

  • Apple Multiple Scan 1705 - usable with modern video cards?

I still have an old Apple Multiple Scan 1705 display which I've been using continuously since ~1995. Even though I don't have a Mac anymore (I know, I know, mea culpa), I hooked it up to my PC and it has worked great. But, I recently received a newer hand-me-down PC from my sibling. It didn't come with a monitor, but I thought that would be OK as I could just switch the monitor from my old system to the new system.
As it turns out, it's not that easy. When I boot it up, the monitor goes blank after POST, usually between the XP screen and the welcome screen. Sometimes I can actually get as far as seeing the desktop, but the screen usually goes blank before I can navigate anywhere. It works fine in safe mode, though. From what I've read on the Web, this would appear to be an "infinite loop" problem, where the OS and the video card stop speaking to each other.
I may be on a fool's errand here, trying to combine a PC video card (an NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS) with an Apple monitor which is ten years older than it. I've done some basic troubleshooting, such as reinstalling the video card drivers and visually inspecting the hardware and connections. But I wonder if it is even possible for the two to communicate properly. For the record, I'm running Windows XP SP3. Has anyone else been foolish enough to try this?
My girlfriend hates the bulkiness of this old CRT monitor and wants to get a flat panel anyway, but while I save up for that, it would be nice to be able to use the new computer with the old monitor. Even if it won't work, I've gotten 13 years of use out of the monitor, so I certainly got my money's worth. But I thought I'd check with the community and see if there's any life left in the old display.
    Thanks for your help!

In Windows XP, in order to change the resolution for the monitor, you have to right-click on the desktop and select "Properties". This bring up "Display Properties". From there, you click the "Settings" tab. This gives you some basic options. For a wider selection of resolutions and refresh rates, click on the "Advanced" button. Then select the "Adapter" tab and press the "List All Modes" button. This lists all the available configurations for resolution, refresh rate, and colors. I fiddled around with these, trying all of the configurations that were supposed to work according to the Apple Multiple Scan 1705 specs. Unfortunately, anything other than VGA 640x480 60Hz would cause a "blue screen of death".
My girlfriend had indicated that she wanted to get a flat panel display anyway (to get back some of that desk real estate), so I decided to cut my losses and buy a new monitor. Unfortunately, I now have the exact same problem with the new monitor. So, it seems the problem is not with the monitor after all. Or, at the least, that's not the only problem. Once I resolve what other hardware/software issue is going on, I'll see if the 1705 display will work. But for practical purposes, you can consider this question resolved.
Thanks for entertaining my obscure question.

  • HELP! Converting video captured w/Nikon D90 into usable codec w/FCP 5.1

I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to get AVI files--captured with the Nikon D90--to export with Final Cut Pro 5.1
I can't convert to ProRes as I don't have FCP 6, so how can I convert my AVI files to something usable in FCP!? I've searched and searched, but all the help forums only touch on doing this with ProRes, which again I DO NOT have on my version of Final Cut.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm going out of my mind.

  • I'm using iMovie on my iPad 2. when I import a jpeg from my desktop and use it in a video clip it is so large in the frame it is not usable. No matter how I resize it in photoshop it's still the same. When I take a photo with the iPad it's no problem.

I'm using my ipad2 with iMovie. When I import photos from my pc and try to use them they are huge. Even when I resize them in photoshop they are still huge and unusable. How do I resize them?

I'm not sure of your question.
Are you asking how to use Photoshop?
Or are you asking for the dimensions of video iMovie uses?
It edits in 720P HD, which is 1280x720.
You can make it a bit bigger so you can zoom in.
Much bigger then this is a waste of time.
