BTW I have gone to the "Contact iTunes Support" and do NOT get anywhere. That is why I am here!
You need to contact iTunes support and send an email by following the link I posted.
Simply going there does nothing. -
still stuck in recovery mode..says ipod software server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable
Apple support is useless...apple is going down hill fast...nothing but problems with several products....so you know what apple can do....

The iPhone Software server could not be contacted
My friend just sold me his iPhone 3GS since he is buying a new one. He says that I need to update the OS version of the phone to iOS 6.0 by using iTunes.
I downloaded iTunes and tried to update it but it now says the error:
/quote
The iPhone Software server could not be contacted.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.
/unquote
I have read some existing queries regarding the above error and I have did some of the workarounds mentioned but it is still not solved. My network settings are updated, network carrier is correct even the ICCID displayed is not blank.
Below are the data when my 3GS is connected in iTunes:
Name: iPhone
Capacity: 14.28 GB
Software Version: 4.3.2
In phone settings
ICCID: 8963 0313 3180 7298 4798
Carrier: SMART
BTW im from the PhilippinesDid you ever use your computer to hack or jailbreak any iOS device? If you did your hosts file is corrupted, and you will have to fix it. If you are sure you never used iOS hacking software of any kind then the previous post about antivirus is your next choice.

The iPad software update server could not be contacted or is unavailable.
Hi,
I tried to update my iPad to iOS 4.2.1, but after I downloaded the update, it said it was verifying the update with Apple, and continued to do this for several minutes, then it said Apple's servers could not be reached. It then put my iPad into recovery mode, and told me I had to restore it, which I've tried to do multiple times, but all with the same result. Is there anything I can do?I spent the better part of a day with this problem, including a talk with support people at Apple that were as stumped as me. The next morning (well, today), I took my Macbook and my iPad to someplace where I could try the restore from a different Internet connection, and lo and behold, it worked. So I guess my home network is the issue, although other Internet activity there seems unimpeded. Hope that helps...

the iphone cannot be restore at this time because the iphone software update server could not be contacted or temperarily unavailable....
this error has been occred"Activation Server Temporarily Unavailable, contact Customer Care?"
99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, either get a sim card from the carrier your phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked. -
