WebDav Repository Manager Disappears???

Hello,
I am seeing some strange behavior with an IIS WebDAV based KM WebDAV repository manager I created. I used the following as a basis for my setup.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/4a/217fb6c33c6748a1715a161ac942cd/frameset.htm
I created the memory cache, CM HTTP System, a portal system aliased with the same ID as the CM system, and finally the WebDAV Repository manager. If further setting detail is needed I can send that. The repository worked on Friday. It is not there today. This has happened twice. When I drill down into Content Administration > KM Content>root > runtime > Repository Managers... > IISWD > servers I am presented with "hostname". When I select Details>Properties>Miscellaneous tab I see failures.
Example:
last-failure-1:   2007-07-16T20:12:14Z: PROPFIND /ExternalPortal: com.sapportals.wcm.WcmException: sending request to: http://hostname/ request uri: /ExternalPortal unable to connect to hostname: unknown host: hostname (java.net.UnknownHostException: hostname)
All of the required KM objects mentioned before are still present and configured as they were a few days ago. Is my repository loosing it's reference to the CM HTTP System.? Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks,
Doug

Hi Doug
I believe the problem is that your HTTP System in the portal cannot see the share you are trying to integrate into the potal. Is it a webdav-share set up using an IIS?
I have tried to implement the WebDAV/SSO solution where we got the same error for no reason. But after installing some different hotfixes (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;893246, eg) and changing server to a standalone IIS, the error didn't occur any more.
Hope that can give you some ideas.
Kind regards,
Martin

  • SOAP/Web service based repository manager

    Hi,
We would like to implement a repository manager using SOAP/Web service messages to connect to the document store.  The solution will have to support most opperations as the WebDAV repository manager supports.  TREX has to be able to crawl for indexing/classification, but I guess that is not a problem.
Is the some information out there on creating repository managers like this, and how they tie in with ACL managers, cahces etc?

  • KM links not functioning through Webdav repository view

    Hi All,
I have a somewhat complicated setup here which is causing some strange issues.
We have an EP instance and a BI portal instance setup. Currently we broadcast reports to our BI portal KM instance, and use ICE to replicate the data from BI portal KM to EP KM. This is not the desired end result.
According to SAP, the end result should consist of using a Webdav repository solution. When users hit the EP KM, specifically the content that is being replicated over currently, they would hit a Webdav repository which points to the BI portal KM, which has an identical KM folder structure. So far this works fine. The problem happens when we create links within the BI portal KM.
Near the root of the KM structure, we have the main content. We link back to this main content with different permissions on each link. This is done for business reasons.
When I try to access this linked content from the BI portal KM it works fine. From the EP KM it throws a HTTP 403 not authorized error. I have tried opening up the permissions to everyone on both KM's with no success. When I access the content directly (ie not linked) it works fine (same permissions). Any ideas why the linked content through a webdav repository would throw HTTP 403 errors?
    Kind Regards,
    Richard
Edit: I should add that we are currently using EP 7.0 EHP1 SP3 highest current patch level and BI 7.0 EHP1 SP3 highest current patch level.

  • How to control permissions in KM using File System Repository Manager

    Hello everybody
I have a scenario with 15+ file servers which content needs to be mapped into Portal KM as read-only.
Windows Authentication is configured on the portal, so the users don't need to supply the portal with username/password.
Now the users are of course only allowed to see the same content in the portal as they can see on the file servers. I know that the permission mapping can be done using a File System Repository Manager with W2KSecurityManager, but in that case the users will have to maintain the mapping of rights from windows to portal manually. And with ever-changing passwords this is too big an administrative task. So I am looking for another solution.
    My question is therefore:
How can you configure the File System Repository Manager in a way where it the user does not need to maintain "user mapping" manually, but only need to logon to the portal (through windows authentication) and can see the same files from the portal as he/she can see from the file servers.
Can this information in some way be taken from the configured Windows Authentication? Or is the only solution to enable WebDav on the file servers and and follow the "Integration of Windows File Servers into the SAP KM platform Using SSO and the WebDAV Repository Manager"-guide?
    Any help will be rewarded.
    Best regards,
    Martin Søgaard

    Hi again Dirk
I just studied the "Integration of Windows File Servers into the SAP KM platform using SSO and the WebDAV repository manager"-guide in depth and I don't quite understand what rights the cmadmin_service and notificator_service are supposed to be given in the Active Directory. In the guide it says:
"A number of global services and repository services need to perform operations on resources in various repositories. For example, the index management service must read all resources it is meant to index. When an index is created, the service user index_service is used. Therefore, this user has to have at least read access to all repositories that are to be indexed. Other users that are used by the SAP KM platform are the service users notificator_service and cmadmin_service. When a search is taking place, it is the user that is currently logged on to the portal."
I dont quite understand what the two service users are doing but more importantly, I need to give the two service users the correct permissions in the Active Directory (or through user mapping). I understand that index_service only needs read_only permissions, but what permissions should the cmadmin_service and notificator_service be given?

  • WebDAV repository and incremental update

    Hi guys
Does any of you know what is needed in order to make incremental update work when you have configured a WebDAV repository manager?
Is it only neccessary to check "Send events" or do you also have to activate some services like "properties"?
    Any help will be rewarded.
    Kind regards,
    Martin

    Hi Julian
    Thank you for your answer.
It is a win2000 server, so I guess that should not be the problem? But since the data communication is going through the IIS, it might be a setting that needs to be set there?
    Kind regards,

    please help me!

    Gentlemen,
    Thanks for the replies.
I'm glad to hear that normally I shouldn't do anything special when accessing a WebDAV-repository.
    I'm currently building a 'debug-environment' so I get more specific error-information.
    I will come back..

    I have found the error:
one of the parameters we used in the coding was 'LOCATION'. We filled this parameter with '/webdav' since we saw that folder in the root when looking in Km content
BUT as the prefix in the WebDAV repository manager we filled '/tst'
that was the reason for a InvalidUriExeception
once we changed our parameter to '/tst' everything works fine!

    Hi Amar,
Can you check your parameters you have used for the WebDav repository manager configuraion?
It should be of this format:
If WebDAV server is available at http://webDAVserver:1090/projectshare.
Example of a WebDAV repository manager configuration:
    Name               = webdav
    Description        = WebDAV Repsoitory Manager
    Prefix             = /webdav
    System ID          = webdav
    System Path        = /projectshare
    Cache Timeout      = 5000
    Memory Cache       = ca_webdav
    ACL Manager Cache  = ca_rsrc_acl
    Versioning Manager = [u2026].WDVersioningManager
Server Type        = Native IIS WebDAV Server
    Example of corresponding HTTP system:
    System ID        = webdav
Description      = HTTP System for WebDAV
    Server-URL       = http://webDAVserver:1090
    Same User Domain = Activated
    max. Connections = 300

  • Can cm_createdby and cm_modifiedby be filled using WebDAV Rep Manager?

    Hello everyone
I have got a rather simple question regarding the WebDAV Repository Manager or perhaps it's more correct to say the WebdAV Protocol.
Does any of you know if it is possible to integrate from a file server into EP KM using the WebDAV Repository Manager, and then be able to show properties like cm_createdby and cm_modifiedby in KM even though the properties were created/edited on the file server?
    Kind regards,
    Martin

    Hi Julian
If you go to Properties > Summary Tab > Origin for a word document there is both an Author and a Last Saved By entry. I was wondering if it would be possible to map these attributes into KM through the WebDAV Repository manager, but apparently not? (I know these attributes are only available for certain office documents).
This changes my question a bit - and I'm afraid I will not like the answer.
    Question:
If I have implemented a number of files using the WebDAV repository manager into Portal KM, is there a way in which I can display an author/document responsible? I guess I cant get the Author-property from the fileserver, but is there any way I can maintain an author/document responsible attribute from KM then? Or is that only possible using CM repositories in FSDB and DBFS modes?
I will not be able to change my integration from WebDAV to CM repositories in FSDB- or DBFS-mode bacuse thay solution does not support SSO.
    Kind regards,
    Martin

  • WIndows File Repository Vs WebDAV Repository

    Hi,
Colud you please let me know what s the difference between
windows file repository and webDAV repository .
    Thanks in Advance,
    Ashok

    Hi Ravi,
if you want to integrate a Windows File Server, the file system repository is the easiest way to implement this.
Here you can use the W2KSecurity Manager to manage the access rights.
But all Users have to do an User Mapping in the Portal. That means that they have to save their username and password in the portal before they can access the files. If the password for the file server has to be changed periodically, this method is not very user-friendly.
if you have a WebDAV Server, you could use the WebDAV Repository to connect to this server. In this case you can use the kerberos module to install a really Single Sign-On.
    For more information see https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e1f93f5c-0301-0010-5c83-9681791f78ec

  • File Repository Manager

    Hi all,
I have created a file repository manager.
I have done the following settings for creating a file repository manager:
    Active   :checked
Hide in Root Folder: not checked
    Send Events :checked
Property Search Manager  : not set
    Repository Services   : not set
    ACL Manager Cache   : ca_rsrc_acl
    Security Manager   : W2kSecurityManager
    Description
    Prefix (must start with /) : /demo
    Windows Landscape System   : Microsoft_Windows_KM
    Read-only   : not checked
    Lookup mode : caseless
    Read-only Content Expiry Delay:
    Root Directory:
    132.186.124.207\calender
Even after restarting the server, a folder by name calender is not being created in the root in KM content.
    What could be the reason?
    thanx and regards,
    anuradha.

    Hi Anuradha,
The root in KM Content will have a folder by the name <i>demo</i>(value of property <i>Prefix</i>), not <i>calendar</i>.
BTW I recommend you don't change the prefix to <i>/calendar</i>... as the CalendarRM uses that prefix and so a clash could occur!

  • WebDav Repository - MS Sharepoint Integration

    Hi Everybody,
I'm trying to apply the things I read in the article "Interoperability between SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 and Windows SharePoint Services" (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/9e891378-0601-0010-5386-a3387f1b161b).
It's about configuring WebDav repositories to access HTTP Systems. I'm trying to acces documents stored in MS Sharepoint.
I'm having a problem with security.
The IViews I use to access the WebDav repository I defined are working well and showing the content stored in MS Sharepoint.
My problem is that those IViews are showing the info with the privileges granted to the user I've used to define the HTTP System.
In that config screen, there's a checkbox that says "Same user domain". Its hint says that if it is checked, the credentials of the logged user would be forwarded to the http server, but this is not happening.
I'm logging on to SAP Portal with an user that has no permissions in Sharepoint and i'm still seeing the documents and I can even upload new documents.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks in advance, Fede.

    Hi all,
the WSS WebDAV Connector (aka "SharePoint WebDAV Connector, SWC) was released some days ago and a new Interoperability Section on Microsoft-sap.com is now live.
See http://www.microsoft-sap.com/technology.aspx --> SAP Enterprise Portal (EP) for the WSS WebDAV Connector.
In the SWC documentation there are some hints for the configuration of the security requirements / authentication types which should be helpful for your problem.
