Windows Installer not recognizing partition!

Hey all, I just bought a macbook pro yesterday and have been trying my hardest to install xp viz boot camp. When I start boot camp, I set the partition to 32GB, then click partition. Then a boot camp icon appears on the desktop showing it is 32.11GB in size.
Next it says to put in the XP CD and click start installation. Do that computer restarts, then begins installing windows. However once it gets to the part of choosing which partition to put it on all it shows is c: with 1310xxx MB for the partition. Basically I think it is not seeing my boot camp partition for one reason or another.
I have tried multiple times removing the partition then re-creating it and doing it over and over and cannot seem to find out why the partition isn't being recognized. Any help at all would be great as it doesn't seem anyone has a solution to it. Thanks!
Jerome

I am trying to install Bootcamp, I've followed the instructions up to this point:
1
If you already quit Boot Camp Assistant without installing Windows:
a
Open Boot Camp Assistant.
b
Select “Start the Windows installer.”
c
Click Continue.
2
If you are using a computer with more than one internal disk, select the disk on which
you want to install Windows, and then click Continue.
3
Insert your Windows installation disc.
4
In Boot Camp Assistant, click Start Installation.
5
Your computer starts up from the Windows installation disc. Follow the onscreen
instructions. Refer to the following sections for more information.
Selecting the Windows Partition
It is very important to select the correct partition when installing Windows so that you
don’t overwrite Mac OS X on your computer.
To select the correct partition for Windows XP:
m
Select “C: Partition3 <BOOTCAMP> [FAT32].”
When I select the "C" partition by arrowing down, and hitting enter, I do not get the choice to format the partition that was initially created, what is going wrong?

  • HP 5470c Scanjet on Windows 7 not recognized / will not initialize

Scanner first set up on Windows Xp system. New HP p6710f desktop purchased last year with Windows 7 Home Premium operating system which recognized the scanner on USB and worked flawlessly . Recently rearranged the office which required disconnecting the peripherals, and now the scanner is not recognized .
The product support area on this website says the scanner is not supported on WIn 7 .  How then did it work previously ?
And why would HP discontinue support for a product that still has a long useable life ? Is this just a ruse to encourage purchase of new products ? Should the baby be thrown out with the wash water ?
I am not a computer guru , but suspect a 'driver' is needed to get operational again ?
Thanks in advance for any help offered .

  • Windows installer not booting after boot camp partition

I'm running OSX 10.9.4 and trying to boot camp windows 8. Everything is going right up until after the partition when the Mac restarts. It goes back to OSX and doesnt launch the windows installer.

I haven't really kept up lately but the only thing I see missing in your information is you didn't say if you had Formatted the Boot Camp partitiion to NTFS. The last I looked into Boot Camp that was one of the mandatory things you had to do in order for the installer to "see" the partition.
You end up formating it twice.
The original format when you make the Windows partition should be "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" it's done by the Mac (BootCamp) then when your booted from the Windows installer you then have to format it again with the NTFS format. And of course it has to be on an internal drive. And a full install disk not an upgrade disk. Boot Camp 5?
Take a gander at the instructions again and see if you might have missed a step?
Hope it helped, at least I bumped ya up.......

  • Windows installer not booting up after resizing the partition

    Hello.
I am trying to reinstalling Windows 8.1. pro on my macbook with Yosemite.
When I initially installed Windows, it went fine, but Windows corrupted my booting process.
So I tried to fix it with gdisk command to create hybrid mbr, but I was not able to fix the problem.
So I deleted the Boot Camp partition using Boot Camp Assistant.
then I created a new Boot Camp partition through Boot Camp Assistant.
However, Windows installer did not boot up automatically nor manually(pressing option whilst booting) anymore.
I have booted up Windows installer using the same usb on pc, so I know that the usb containing Windows installer does work..
I am not sure how to boot the Windows installer.
Do I have to do clean install the OS X??
thank you for your help and time in advance.
    Rin

Is it possible to create the disk using BCA and a Windows ISO on the Mac, if your Mac supports it? If your Mac has a built-in Optical drive (or used to have one), you are going to run into issues.
    Can you
    1. Run Disk Utility Repair.
    2. SMC Reset - Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - Apple Support
    3. PRAM Reset - OS X Yosemite: Reset your computer’s PRAM

  • Windows 7 not recognizing HFS+ partition

Is there support for Windows 7 to read the HFS+ partition of the hard drive? If so, Windows is not seeing it. Also, does it only apply yo the internal drive or will it read external HFS+ formatted drives?

I installed 3.1 update it and it now reads the internal Mac partition.

  • Disk image of installations not recognized after download

I have tried to install the suggested software that Software Update suggests but once the download is complete, I click on the disk image and I get a dialogue box stating that the software is not recognized.
I tried downloading other software (a game) and I got the same response.

This would tend to occur when the hard drive is corrupted or your OS X installation is dysfunctional. Updates that don't mount may also be due to a failed download that produces an incomplete or corrupted file.
It's possible this is occurring because the new hard drive was not prepped correctly Generally I recommend the following procedure for prepping a new drive:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.
Be sure you are using the original OS X installer discs that came with your computer. If your computer originally came with an Intel version of Tiger then you will need a retail copy of Leopard in order to install it on the computer. If your computer came with a version of Leopard previous to 10.5.5, then you can update to 10.5.5 via Software Update or by downloading the 10.5.5 Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site.

  • Bootcamp usb windows installation not working

    Hello all,
Heres the issue, My iMac is running Yosemite and I'm installing bootcamp with bootcamp created usb installation of windows 7. the bootcamp partition is created and i see it in the partitions so thats fine. but i reboot from bootcamp to begin the install i get the non bootable device error. when I use the option key on boot the thumb drive does not show at all. i checked the thumb drive and all windows files are present but apparently the iMac does not see it as a bootable drive. I have never had this issue with bootcamp prior to Yosemite so I'm not sure if thats the problem. Any ideas?
    Thanks

ok guys i had the same problem in my new macbook retina. The problem is not entirely the USB. The windows version u are trying to install is either pirated or cracked.
Try installing the original windows 7 or 8 90 day trial version from Microsoft website and then it flows flawlessly. No USB or any other problem.
After installing the trial version using USB 2.0 (bought 3 yrs agao) the installation completed successfully and all USB ports were working perfectly and no red light in the headphone jack!
just for the sake of checking your mac's hardware try the windows trial if it works means the USB is not the problem and your  windows copy is not original.
I am 100% sure windows trial version will work with no errors.try and let us know
    thanks

  • Windows Installation DVDs Recognized Blank!!!

I have to install windows to do my work, but recently after I erase my previous Bootcamp drive with win7 on it(cause I’m planning to re-install windows), I start again the installation procedure. I expect it would be smooth, but my iMac just can’t read win7 DVDs, actually read as blank DVDs.
I burned like 7 or 8 DVDs but the problem wouldn’t fix. I also changed 2 ISO files(Original Microsoft MSDN), and problem is still there. I tested that those DVDs can be recognized on my PC, so it’s not the DVDs’ problem.
I tried to inserted a data DVD, and it can be read fine, so it confuses me whether the DVD drive is broken.
So what’s the problem on earth??? I badly need windows.
    Hope for reply soon.

Boot Camp will only install from a full retail licensed version of Windows, based on your hardware's limitations:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1846
If you want to install from OEM, or other versions of Windows that are licensed but not full retail, you may want to try a different virtualization engine*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html#WINTEL
Copies of the Windows installation CD generally are not legal if they were copied to blank CDs yourself or by someone else, and may have copy/protection schemes that prevent install. Only use genuine Microsoft operating systems.

  • Windows Installer Wont recognize partition

    Hi people,
I partitioned my Hard drive through boot camp with out any problems (the partition for BOOT CAMP is 20 gb)
When I go through the windows installer it only sees the one partition for the entire drive it is called untitled
Im not sure if i have the SP2, the disc is an MDG branded(that may be my problem) but doesn't say SP2 on it anywhere,
    Please help me with this

    Hi Paul,
to check if your XP CD is containing the SP2, you can look at the root directory of the CD for a file named 'win51ip.sp2'.
If it is there then SP2 is included if not, you can follow these instructions for 'slipstreaming' the SP2 http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp
I am not sure, what 'MDG branded' is, but it could be that the CD is not a single full installation CD but rather a 'Recovery-CD' which only works with the computer it originally came with.
