Write back report not refreshing

Hi,
I have created two simple 11.1.1.6 analysis and put them on a dashboard. The first enables the user to enter some commentary into a text box and save the entered text to the database. The second is a simple report on these comments, this report does not show all the new comments entered even when I refresh the analysis. Is there a parameter or config item I need to set to get a report to refresh in real time?

1) Disable cache on that table
2) Delete presentation services cache or you can try 'bypass prs server cache' option
3) Delete your browser cache. also log out and log in again.

  • Can i use session variable VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.USER) in write back report?

    Hi All,
I have created a write back report and successfully inserted records into a table.
Now i want to capture the user who has inserted in to the table.
Till now i have given edit option to the users on USERNAME column.
But now i want to capture the user automatically.
when i user VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.USER), i can capture the Logged in user in USERNAME col and the moment i execute the report it is throwing an error.
    What i observed is....
In the advanced tab USERNAME col is changed to VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.USER).
is there any workaround for this?
    Thanks

    >>I have a session variable assigned to the ID#(auto
number in access db) of messages posted.
I not sure if I follow your in the description. I would
assign the Record ID to the session variable.
Place the Record id in the repeat region.
Then you could assign that record id to a session variable
when the button is click, capture the button click event. Then
redirect to the EMPLOYEEMessageDELETE1.asp page, which will read in
the session variable (record id) to be deleted.

SSRS reports are always best viewed in IE and the report result what you see in IE always will not be same and consistent in thirdy party browswers.

  • WebI report not refreshed after BW pwd change - SAP EP-KM asPoint of entry

    Config:
    BOXI3.1 SP3 FP3
    INTG. KIT SP3 FP3
    BW 7.01 SP5
    SAP EP 6.0
    Imported all transports
    Configured BW Publisher
    Configured SAP Authentication in CMC
    Imported required roles in CMC
Imported KM Par file in Portal
    Issue:
Users logon to EP with SAP BW credentials and clicks on a webi report within KM with Infoview structure -> report is executed and can be refreshed successfully.
User forgets his pwd and the security team reset his pwd
User logon to SAP EP with reset initial pwd and gets a prompt to enter new pwd -> new pwd chosen and logon successful -> clicks on a report within KM with Infoview structure -> report pops up but can not be refreshed as an error msg below pops up
    A database error occured.
The database error text is: Unable to connect to SAP BW server Name or password is incorrect (repeat logon). (WIS 10901)
    Temporary solution:
Logon to Infoview directly and login with SAP account -> report executed and refreshed successfully -> Logout
Then go back to EP to execute report and since then works fine but issue occurs again if pwd is changed and logon to Infoview directly process have to be done to move on.
Has anybody had these issues or have an idea what config might be missing?
Please note that SNC was not configured as we are not using AD for logon or report bursting for now. All docs read have specified that SNC is not required for my scenario.
Also certificates have been established btw BW and EP and SSO works well with BEX queries deployed thru EP.
    Any ideas will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Norita

    More info -
If I clear the error msg and continue to click on refresh values in prompt screen multiple times then the bw account gets locked in SAP BW backend.
Please note that the universe was created to use SSO authentication and no user credentials hardcoded.
FQDN are also used for all the configs.
Has anybody encountered these issues before? Please let me know if you have any ideas or pointers.
    Thanks,
    Norita

  • Report Not Refreshing in Crystal Reports Server 2008

I created a report and posted it on Crystal Reports Server 2008.  I have since updated the report's selection expert and I want the new criteria to be updated.  When I right click on the report and choose Refresh Options I have chosen to update and refresh the report but when I try to schedule it again it keeps the old select expert statement.  I have gone back to the report to ensure the change was taken and it was.  In fact if I delete the report and repost it then it does show the correct criteria.  Does anyone have any idea's as to why this is happening.  Thanks.

A simple solution to avoid the font issue: Draw a box on the report, and put an X in (on top of) the box to check it if value is true.
    Or
A formula that is an X if true or F if false.  Format the font to be white if not an X, and put a box around it.

  • BI publisher report not refreshing when associated OBI EE report is changed

We have a dashboard that has an OBI report at the top, and a linked BI Publisher report underneath. The BI Publisher report is supposed to reflect a template version of the results in the OBI report.
On the initial load of the report, the two reports are synched and matching. However, when you change a prompt with a request variable for the OBI report, the BI publisher report either blanks out or shows the prior information which no longer matches. If I change defaults in the OBI EE report, resave, then reload, the BI Publisher always gets it right the first time, just never again after that.
Since all my research to this point led to a caching issue, here are the report properties that matter(?):
    Report properties:
    Caching –
    Enable Data Caching = unchecked
    User Level = checked
    Document Caching = unchecked
User Can Refresh Report Data = checked
    General -
    Run Report Online = checked
    Show Controls = checked
Allow Sharing Report Links = checked
Open Links in New Window = checked
    Asynchronous Mode = unchecked
    Auto Run = checked
Also – how do you make PDF the default output for a BI Publisher report? When we load this dashboard, it always tries to run the RTF version, and we have to Cancel, choose PDF and then refresh to get the PDF version.

when you change a prompt with a request variable for the OBI reportUse Presentation Variable instead of Request Variable. Make sure you keep the same name for both Parameter in the BIP report and Presentation Variable in BI.

  • 10g Write back works for some users, not others

    Dear Gurus,
I have a strange problem with the Write Back in my system. We use Write-back pretty extensively and have maybe 10-20 separate reports, updating a number of tables.
We have been using this system for almost a year with no problems - Myself (logging in as Administrator) and a member of the Business team, logging in as herself (a member of the Presentation Server Administrator Group).
    We now require two more Business power-users to use our Write-back reports. I have added them to the Presentation Server Administrator group. However, when they try to enter values into ANY of the write-back reports, they get the following error;
An error occurred while writing to the server. Please check to make sure you have entered appropriate values. If the problem persists...
*State: HY000. Code 10058 [NQODBC]... A general error has occurred. [nQSERROR 27024] The EXECUTE PHYSICAL statement must specify a physical SQL statement to execute (HY000)*
SQL issued: EXECUTE PHYSICAL CONNECTION POOL "GL Oracle Data Warehouse Connection Pool"
I do not understand why the write back is working without error for my own user, the Admin user and a member of the business team who is in the Presentation Server Administrator group, but not for two new additions to that group.
I have checked that the Presentation Server Admin group is granted on the "Enable/Manage Write Back" privilege and on the Execute SQL privilege.
Any ideas what else I could check?
    Thanks,
    A.

    Hey Amith,
Thanks for your quick reply! Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case. The system is pretty much wide open, apart from the Write pack privilege, which only the Presentation Server Administrator group has access to.
I'm having another of my Presentation Server Administrators who has been in the group forever try to use the write back.
There's no specific connection pool or database level permissions for write back, is there? And there's no specific permissions which need to be set on the xml template files?
    Thanks,
    A.

  • Crystal Reports Web Elements - database write back question

    Hi,
I have a question about Web Elements. In description of them on SAP site it says they can provide "write-backs to the database". This is something I would really like to see. I have a scenario:
User sees a long report and sometimes she needs to add a quick note that should be saved into the database. That note can be entered into WETextArea I suppose and WESubmit button click can be an event  trigger for such a write back.
I would like to see example of such functionality on Crystal Report rpt file.
Please advise if anybody knows, I would highly appreciate your assistance.
    Regards, Grettir

    hello,
webelements can be used for the interface to database writebacks...they don't do the writebacks themselves but create the interface to make it easier for an end user to add annotations etc...these values are then passed to a second report or a subreport. using the default prompting interface makes this quite difficult.
here's where the database writebacks are done...since version 9 of crystal reports there have been command objects. command objects have the ability to use any database syntax that is compliant with the database connection. i.e. if the syntax can go through the odbc layer then you can do this in a command in crystal reports.
commands will honour database securities so you don't have to worry about someone dropping a table if rights have been properly assigned. a word of caution there to ensure that database rights have been done properly as you don't want all end users to have the ability to write a report that can do database updates.
commands are also database specific so you would have to check your database online help to see what syntax would be appropriate.
the workflow would be to have 2 reports, one that had the webelements user interface and one that did the writeback. this user interface report would have the text object and submit button and using open document syntax, the values would be passed to the 2nd report that had the command object. the command object would have a prompt that would take the values from the open document url and then use the values in the write back.
    for example,
    1) the user interface report has one text object called "t1" and one submit button.
    2) the target command object report has a prompt called "t1".
    3) the target report command object has syntax like
    INSERT INTO yourtestable
    VALUES    ('{?t1}')
    SELECT     1
    4) yourtesttable in this case has only one text field
    5) the "SELECT 1" at the end of the command ensures that a dummy value is returned after running the update...to avoid a database error
    6) this syntax would be for sql server
this is of course a very simplified example.
if you are at tech ed phoenix, please drop by the business objects test drive area & i will be there. i can show you a bunch of different webelements examples and write back reports etc. until you become quite bored
    i hope that this helps,
    jamie

  • Write Back Error

I have Dashboards accessed by users through SSO login, i am trying to have write back enabled on one report.

I am still facing issue with write back with LDAP Authentication.
    The rpd uses LDAP Authentication.
Oracle BI server take the User ID and password typed by user and pass them to LDAP server for authentication, hence User ID and passwords are not stored in the rpd.
The Write Back report works for Administrator id.
The Write Back report also works for a user id created in rpd (after assiging all the required privileges for write back).
The Write Back report fails for LDAP user id with the following error
SQL_STATE: HY000] nQSError: 10058 A general error has occurred. nQSError: 13017 User or group has not been granted the Direct Database Access privilege to access the database 'ANSWERS'. Please verify the User/Group Permissions in the Oracle BI Administration Tool. (HY000)

I checked in database, data have changed in db, but why raise this error?
Edited by: jacky on 2010-7-27 下午8:42

    Hi Jacky,
I guess you should put an insert statement in place .If the column that you are updating has null values then it will look for insert statement but if you are updating a column value that already has some value then it will look for update statement. For ex : if you are updating some meaure value from 200 to 300 then it will execute update statemnt but if you are updating null to 300 then BI server will look for insert staement.
I worked on this a long way back so if you can try puttting insert statement then we can reach at some conclusion.
    Thanks

  • Write Back

    Hi All,
OBI being a reporting application, I am abit confused about the write back functionality, Can anyone throw some light on any real time business use of this write back in OBIEE? Why we will be ins/upd doing data here in OBI rather than the OLTP doing the same?
    Thanks Shravan

    Hi Shravan,
Here is a good scenario. Lets say you are using external table to do some security or customizations to obiee reports. You are populating the values in table into session variables and using them at various places in obiee. Now, there is no source for the custom table. Someone has to manually sit there and maintain this table. In production, people that are mainting this table might be HR guy who dont have any technical knowledge on how to select table, insert or update data. In this case, you will build a write back report, with list of prompts that a user can select for each column to populate into the table, or update the existing rows.
Hope this answers your question. Please award points if helpful
    Thanks,
    -Amith.

  • Report Portlets do not refresh data.

How can I refresh a report portlet?
I have created a report and a forms provider based on the same table. I put the portlets on separate TABS on the same PAGE. The report works fine, but when I update the information on the form and return to the report it does not reflect the changes. I have pressed 'refresh', I have gone to another page and come back, no luck. The only way to see the changes is to log out and back in again. Any ideas?
    Thanks, Deb

I had caching turned off. When I turned on both content and page definition, I was unable to query my forms. The forms and reports are on the same page, different tabs. When I select cache page definition only, I get the same results as no caching. The forms will query my data, I can update, but when I return to the reports TAB, the data has not changed. (Yes, I did click refresh.) I have found that if I click the 'Customize' link on the portlet containing the report and then click 'OK' the data will update. This, however gives me a new error that I will worry about later. For now, the users have 'Minimize' but do not have the 'Customize' Link and the 'minimize' link does not refresh the data, nor give me the new error.

  • SkillBuilders modal plugin - Reports will not refresh

    Hi all,
I'm attempting to use the SkillBuilders Modal Page 2.0.0 plugin, everything seems to work except the refreshing of the reports. When clicking on the links the modal page opens, I can make changes, and after clicking on "apply changes" the modal box closes and I am back at the originating page, however the reports have not refreshed. Hi Wayne,
You've got a job on trying to refresh a classic report using the standard dynamic action, it's not as straightforward as simply selecting the region.
The fastest way to achieve this (unless you MUST have AJAX refreshing of reports) is to change the action of the Auto Close event to Submit Page.
It's quick and dirty - but it works.
    Hope this helps, cheers, Pete
