WRT54GX2 GPL Firmware building unsuccessful

Hi,
I downloaded WRT54GX2_v1.01.19.tar.gz from Linksys GPL repository and tried building an image on a debian system (Woody) but I keep running into build problem.  Please see the error message below.  Can someone from Linksys give me a recommended building platform to build these images?  Also I noticed that you have removed the above file but the WRT54GX2_v1.01.14.tar.gz is even less build friendly because there is no make file or toolchain included.  I just want to build a default image first before making any modification but so far no luck.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
wadalada

Well...I've been hacking away at WRT54GX4 1.00.20, just out of curiosity, all evening...with no success: 1) Makefiles do not behave well on FC6, at a minimum 2) I cannot find a way to make images/2x28/kernel.bin.gz happen 3) copying vmlinux over to images (and gzipping it) doesn't seem to help much, although it gets past not having the kernel file of (2). 4) No load_srcroot directory anywhere, and no obvious way to produce what's needed there or in the images directory. ....I got pretty far up the creek (up to a point where Image Packer ran, but skipped packing a bunch of items that don't exist/build. I'm unsure how much of my lack of progress is (1) versus not having all the needed parts in the tar.gz), but I still have no paddle.

  • WVC80n GPL firmware released (upon request)

    Hey gang,
I sent a formal request to Cisco for the GPL sources contained in the WVC80n, and they were very responsive.
Cisco/Linksys very quickly uploaded the GPL firmware online, and now I'm sharing the link with you:
    http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/186607/wvc80n_gpl_cisco_usa_fw_v1.0.00_build_08.tar.tar
Hopefully the same bits are deposited to Cisco's official GPL download site soon, but for now you can fetch them from the above 3rd party. I take no responsibility for what the link points to, and the file size is ~150 MB.

  • Cisco EPC3925 EuroDocsis Wifi turned off but light stays ON w/ recently updated firmware

    hi there
i have a Cisco EPC3925 EuroDocsis 3.0 2-PORT Voice Gateway and i just noticed that today they pushed an OTA firmware upgrade via ISP "Melita" here in Malta.
It looks like now when i disable the wifi, the green led for wifi still stays on, did anybody notice this? I have this firmware now:
    Model:
    Cisco EPC3925
    Vendor:
    Cisco
    Hardware Revision:
    1.0
    Serial Number:
    MAC Address:
    Bootloader Revision:
    2.3.0_R1
    Current Software Revision:
    epc3925-ESIP-16-v302r125573-131025c-l2gre
    Firmware Name:
    epc3925-ESIP-16-v302r125573-131025c-l2gre.bin
    Firmware Build Time:
    Oct 25 11:30:50 2013
    Cable Modem Status:
    Operational
    Wireless Network:
    Disable
if anyone has a link to a newer or older firmware, i'd like to change this one, we don't normally use wifi and prefer the cable. I checked with inSSIDer 3 and when the wifi is disabled it cannot be found but i am really thinking if that's for real since the light is still on....
    any help appreciated..
    thanks
    Gabrio

    hello everyone,
The technical supoort of my ISP got back to me with the following:
The fact that the Wi-Fi light on your Melita cisco modem is still switched on is because we have recently launched the new Melita Wi-Fi, where all Melita’s cisco modems are being used to broadcast this signal so that customers with Melita mobile can connect to Wi-Fi wherever they are. The cisco modem is being used only as a repeater to boost this signal and it will not affect at any time the connection that Melita is providing you.
Having said that this option may be switched off by turning the modem to bridge mode, by doing this you will eliminate completely the Wi-Fi option from your modem. If you wish to turn your modem to bridge mode kindly follow the link below to guide you through the process.
    http://help.melita.com/index.php/bridge-modestatic-ip/
so anyone else that wants to do the same, feel free using that guide.
One piece of advice.... if you don't plan in using another wifi router to plug to the CISCO, should you want to have the wifi again, then you need to log to http://192.168.100.1 and then switch back to "router" mode from "bridge" mode. DHCP will not work in bridge mode so if you just turn on wifi, you will have to manually configure it. Or switch back to "router" for the time being.
When you enable bridge mode, you cannot log to http://192.168.0.1 maybe obvious but good to know.
I have to say that this ISP pushed this OTA update without saying anything to its customers for boosting their signal to their mobile customers, very nasty indeed. I don't like to have the wifi on at home when nobody uses it, it's bad for the health, it made both me and my wife having headaches in the past, so if i need it, i turn it on, otherwise it's OFF and i want to have the freedom of doing that at my will.
There's already too many microwaves and wifis out there, at least at home i want to control it!.

  • New WRT-160 V2 firmware posted

New WRT-160N V2 firmware (build 15) is posted.
    http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WRT160N/download
I have had it up (as a beta) for three week, no problems
I used Firefox to install / flash instead of Safari///

when you connect your com to  the modem the speed got to be faster
because your are getting direct connection with the modem.
when you use the router the speed gets slow because it handles multiple devices at the same time
however as you mentioned that it is  reducing your speed to 1-2meg download and 1 meg upload.
that seems to be really bad .try to hard reset the router for 1 minute then reconfigure your router from the scratch
after that upgrade the firmware on the router and power cycle the entire network.and set the wireless security as WPA2 personal that would give you good speed on the wireless computers. also try to reduced the MTU to 1364....
once you are done with these troubleshooting then  you would Definitely get the better speed .

  • [REPORT/HELP] ideapad K1 build K1_A301_02_02_110822_SG a lot problem...

Hi, last two weeks ago I was brought a K1 from Singapore IT Fair @ Suntec City. It come with original firmware build 725 SG version and it generate a lot of problem to me.
    1. Random reboot very unstable 4 ~ 5 times per day!
    2. Can't wake up from sleep mode, it show black screen at all and the Home button two LED light up.
    3. The LED Screen will bright up from sleep after a moment and it will never turn off the screen again unleast you touch the power button...
    4. Use a lot of battery power even in sleep mode... I was managed to turn off wifi and left it in sleep mode overnight, the next day the pad totally left 3% battery power and unable to boot up...
After one week, I was received the firmware update notification, it push the firmware to K1_A301_02_02_110822_SG version. I was think about Lenovo Software Development team have release a bug free firmware to resolve this kind of problem... but after upgraded the latest firmware, it was generated more problem to me.
The new problem was found here...
    1. Random system reboot... (Still got this problem but least happen {1 time reboot per day} after firmware updated to build 110822_SG, I was confirmed it's not apps compatibility problem, even use the Youtube to play online stream video, the system screen also black up and reboot...)
    2. Can't wake up from sleep mode! OMG, still got this problem... I was tried to change to AWD Launcher EX to reduce this case happen, and the pad running more smooth than stock launcher.
    3. After upgrade firmware, It prompt up a lot of apps error! I was do factory reset, and all back to normal. But it also prompt up error message at home screen. I was suspect internal service error because after firmware upgrading, I can't sync my browser bookmark with Google Chrome account... And the google calander sync also not working anymore... (Bookmark and Calander won't sync!)
    4. Battery power fast finish and the pad will generate heat even sleep mode! (Suspect wifi problem, even at sleep never automatic turn off)
    5. The LED Screen will bright up from sleep after a moment and it will never turn off the screen again unleast you touch the power button... (Problem with stock launcher, replace with AWD launcher EX resloved)
    6. After firmware upgrade, Wifi signal become weak... (Suspect driver problem, and I hear that got a lot of bug at wifi driver!)
OMG... What a buggy tablet pad??? I brought it bring to work, now nothing can do... Just leave it at home... everyday I have check with system update, and I never receive new system firmware since last week build K1_A301_02_02_110822_SG. I was disappointed about Lenovo Software Development team can't resolve the problem in short time when problem found... Most the bad thing is consumer can't get the good after-sell product support... Hopefully Lenovo Software Development team able to release the new firmware and resolve the problem. Thank...

Call of Duty 4, Halo 3(Xbox360s), etc. and they don't like to play from behind the Firewall and we can't disable it obviously.
Our NAT is set to strict... I guess.
Any help would be nice in setting things so they can work properly for
our games as we get serious lag with some games.
    Thanks
PS: I haven't updated the firmware, I am sceptically of updating
BIOS and Firmwares, because they can sometimes go wrong.
Also I checked the release notes for the only upgrade available, and
there doesn't seem to be anything related to what I am doing

ok then just figure out yourself if your ISP gives you a private or a public IP address. your issue can be resolved by port forwarding, IF there is only one computer involved. it usually works by setting a static IP on the computer that uses the software/the game you wanna play, then a port forwarding rule will be set up on the router. so you actually have to know what ports you need to allow/open on the router. the problem is you have several computers on the network, and forwarding a certain port to several computers is not possible. maybe this link can help you out in understanding what im trying to say. link

  • Can't update E61 (prod code 0538289) to firmware v...

    Hi,
I've been trying to update my E61 phone (prod code 0538289) to the latest v3 firmware build for over 3 weeks now.
The phone came factory flashed with firmware v2 and would like to take advantage of the enhanced SIP capabilities present in v3.
At first NSU game me a message that no update is available but I can reflash to the same version. After several attempts all I get is that no updates are available.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    VladS

    Check here: http://europe.nokia.com/A4305060
For your product code there is no update available. Generally, you can only update phones which are not branded by a provider. I guess you bought a branded phone from a phone company. You have to go to your phone company to have the firmware updated. Branding and support for the branded firmware is generally from the company you got the phone from. Nokia Service Centers in your country may also have the branded firmwares for your provider.

  • WRT54GX2 does not pick up time from the network...

I have a WRT54GX2 running firmware 1.01.14 and it does not pick up time from the network. I have PacBell (now AT&T) as an ISP and a DSL link. My old Netgear router picks up the time immediately. I am trying to figure out if I have a defective unit or if this is a firmware bug. Without the time, I can not use any of the scheduling functions, nor measure uptime.
Does anyone have this router with the time working? I have set the appropriate time zone.
    Thanks,
    Martin

    Thanks for you ideas.
The backup file appears to be binary. However in searching through it I did see 3 time related text strings, namely: clock.stdtime.gov.tw, time-b.nist.gov and time.nist.gov. I can successfully ping clock.stdtime.gov.tw and time.nist.gov. This reinforces my belief that my ISP (AT&T nee PacBell) is not blocking access.
however ntp works on TCP port 123. ping works on udp 7 afaik. if your old netgear works i guess this is a router problem.
have you reset the router yet? afaik press reset button for 10 seconds.
you will however loose all settings and need to enter them again. it may however fix the issue.Message Edited by linksysinfo on 07-09-2006 03:09 AM

  • Does the RV180 support DHCPv6-PD with firmware 1.0.3.10?

    Hello-
I am running a SOHO on Comcast and wish to get IPv6 working.  I have read some old posts around the 'net stating that the Cisco RV180 does not support DHCPv6-PD, and that this is needed to successfully use IPv6 with Comcast.  Firmware 1.0.3.10 was released in late July 2013.  I don't see anything in the release notes stating that DHCPv6-PD support was added, so I suspect it was not.  Can anyone confirm that it still does not?  Does anyone know if it will be added in the near future (say 6 months?)
    Thanks!

I can confirm that it does not.  Been working with Tuska (from Comcast) on this for over a year and no word from Cisco on whether they plan to build the functionality into the next firmware build or not.  Tuska has formally requested Cisco make this update.  Very disappointed in the black hole that Cisco has allowed this to fall into.  This is supposed to be a business product (why I purchased it), I expected more.
Just ordered a new router to replace my RV180 since I see no hope of Cisco getting it together.  I think Cisco is more interested in supporting their large corporate accounts and have abandoned supporting SOHO (as evident with the sale of Linksys to Belkin).

Supposedly the Software Update version is supposed put it in the /Applications/Utilities directory and run it automatically. There are additional steps needed to complete the firmware update. If you didn't do these things, it may attempt to reinstall the package until it senses the latest firmware build is installed. You might try downloading Firmware Update 1.2:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macbookefifirmwareupdate12.html
It loads a program that you then need to run in order to update your firmware.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1557?viewlocale=en_US
    4. Double-click the appropriate package for your computer to start the firmware update process. (The installer puts the Firmware Updater in the /Applications/Utilities folder, and launches it automatically.)
    5. Read the onscreen instructions and click Shut Down to proceed with the update. The firmware image will be loaded on your machine, and your machine will shut down, but the update will not be installed until the next step.
    6. Hold down the power button until the power indicator light flashes, then release it. A long tone will be heard, then a gray screen with an Apple logo appears. There is a progress bar under the logo. As the progress bar moves, your firmware is being updated.
Important: Do not unplug, shutdown, or restart your computer while the update is taking place. Interrupting a firmware update can render your computer unusable. If this happens, take your machine to an Apple store or authorized service provider or perform the recovery yourself using another Macintosh computer to download the Firmware Restoration CD disk image from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/. This software allows you to create a CD which you can use to restore your machine to working order.
    Installation takes a few minutes.
    7. After your firmware has been updated, your machine will restart.
    8. After you log in, a dialog box will appear indicating the firmware update has been successful. Click OK to dismiss this dialog.
I didn't quite figure out all these steps. You can manually run the Firmware Updater from the /Applications/Utilities directory.

  • Premiere CS4 installer to support Red's camera build v20

Any estimate/date when the new Premiere CS4 installer to support Red's camera build v20 will be out?
The new Red API is released and just a matter of Adobe integrating. (FCP already has released it!)
    many thanks....Dave

Thanks for the quick replies guys.....
I've spoken to the developer at Red who is indicating the release date is dependant on Adobe.
Now whether that suggests acceptance/integration testing (or development) by Adobe, I assume Adobe is on the critical path for the release this plugin...hence question. any further information greatly appreciated.
    Dave,
edit: cheers Curt. The v20 plugin deals with noise, particularly in low light tungsten scenes which starves the blue channel of any signal, hence the noise.
Red say 20% of the corrected code in the camera firmware (build v20) and 80% is in their software API which has been since released in other Red products and Final Cut.
Makes a huge difference in picture quality so great to see it in Premiere.

  • S860 and X2, Google not connecting on mobile network.

I live in Sweden. Had my S860 for 3 years and it has been working fine but some months ago it was not connecting on mobile network with crome and play store. Restart and it could work for some time the it was gone again. At the same time Hotspot, skype and OS update is working fine. Got a new sim card i november but it did not help. This was going more and more bad and finally it did not work at all. Tried to reverse OS a few steps back and still not working. So i tought that it was something to do with hardware. Now i bought a Vibe X2. Away from sweden for the moment (Saudi Arabia) but this one does the same when I try to connect. OS update working but Crome says ssl error and Play Store just wont connect. Saw some forums said it might be time and date that was wrong so i tried to change to local format but it was the same. My S860 i was waiting for 6 month before i could buy it (not for sale in Sweden) in Saudi. Haas been very pleased with it so now when it has been messing with me i had no problem to buy a new Lenovo phone. This time just waiting 3 month before i could buy it in Saudi. Hope this is something I can get some help to solve. /Nils

    Hi Ragge
Can you tell me your firmware build number(for the S820 and Vibe x2) and Baseband version(for the S820)?Settings->About phone....
''Had my S860 for 3 years and it has been working fine.....Sorry, checked and it is a S820 i have.''
The S820 has been relesed in May 2013.
''Tried to reverse OS a few steps back...''
    How did you do that?.
    Can you install THIS ->Open the app->MTK Settings->Telephony/BandMode->SIM 1(Do the same for SIM2) and make a screenshot(Power&Volume-) ->post the screenshot here.Thanks
