  • Problem with Gmail synchronization

    I have both my work email configured via BES service and my private Gmail account on my Bold 9700.
    Recently I noticed that when I delete emails on the 9700 it reflects almost immediately both on Gmail web interface and both in my Outlook. However, if I delete emails from either the web  or Outlook there are no changes on the device.
    I opened a case with my mobile provider and they did some tests on several devices on their side and also told me to delete and re-configure my Gmail account. They also configured my Gmail account on their devices, All these confirmed that there is a problem.
    After a few days they called back and told me that there is nothing wrong with the service and that the synchronization from Outlook/Web with the device happen after several hours. They also stated that according to RIM's documentation this is how it should work.
    Well, if it's true don't you find it quite troubling?
    What annoys me the most that I'm sure that when I first configured Gmail on my device the sync was much more frequent.
    The support team also mentioned something about BIS upgrade and that that's how RIM decided to implement IMAP4.
    Is that true?
    Did anybody experience what I mentioned as well?

    Additional Information
    Email reconciliation with the BlackBerry Internet Service is from the BlackBerry smartphone to the messaging server, and the messaging server to the BlackBerry smartphone. For reconciliation changes to occur in an email application such as Microsoft Outlook, the email application must reconcile with the messaging server, not the BlackBerry smartphone.
    It is necessary to correctly configure the BlackBerry smartphone and integrated email accounts to turn on the full two-way reconciliation. For more information, see KB13509.
    Reconciliation changes from the mailbox to the BlackBerry smartphone might require up to 6 hours.

  • On my iPhone 5 I am having a problem sending / receiving e-mails and am receiving the message: the user name or password for "imap.gmail" is incorrect. Despite many attempts I am getting nowhere. Does anyone recognise this problem?

    I am having a problem sending/receiving e mail messages on my iPhone 5 and cannot access my account. The message I am receiving is: The user name or password for "imap.gmail" is incorrect.
    I do not know what imap.gmail is. I have also lost data which was contained on my diary which I believe is linked to the problem. Does anyone recognise this problem?

    imap.gmail is the Google mail server. It doesn't recognize the password that is stored in the iPhone. The problem is that the password or email address you have in Settings for the gmail account is wrong. If you changed the password somewhere else that is the reason. You need to go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, tap on the gmail account and enter the correct password. You also need to change it for outgoing mail in Settings.

  • Yosemite Mail still has sync problems with Gmail - any solutions?

    I notice that Yosemite Mail still has sync problems with Gmail. After running for some hours, I noticed there were 6 emails in my Gmail account that had not synced over the past hour.
    In the meanwhile, for safety's sake (don't want to miss emails!) I'm back to Mailplane. But I wonder if anybody knows of a solution to this long term problem first introduced in Mavericks. Works fine in iOS Mail though.
    Thanks,
    doug

    I don't think we'll ever have a "best of both worlds" Doug. I've used Gmail since the week it launched the first beta in 2004, and it's always been a bit of a love-hate relationship for me (mostly love). With the demise of the Google Notifier for Mac, I went with Mailplane, but even it has problems. Like when I see my iPhone update with new mail and I'm looking at Mailplane and it won't update at times with even a forced refresh. I often have to close/reopen it to see new messages. But, it's hard to live without my Google Calendar only a tab click away, one of the primary reasons I use Mailplane, that plus changing view zoom sticks with Mailplane and won't with Gmail.
    For years I've thought Gmail labels were the perfect filing solution, but over the past few weeks I've been analyzing just how much I really use that feature, and for me...it's not all that much. I think I could simplify my life by putting everything into appropriate folders (as in all other email apps). Apple doesn't realize just how much money they're losing by not allowing people to use private domains with iCloud mail...which I would do in a heartbeat just because it would work perfectly with Mail.app. I would pay even more than I currently pay Google for this solution with Google Apps Business. So, I'm actually on the verge of moving my private domain to the best email service I can find and then using it with Mail.app. The problem here, of course, is I'll lose the best spam control on the planet (Gmail). So, as you say, there simply is not a "best" solution for all these things. I'll at least try a new email service first with some other domain to see how I like it before moving my primary email.
    Lastly, the other thing that incenses me is synching of flags between iOS and Apple Mail. It works fine between Gmail and iOS Mail, since all I care about is whether a message is starred/flagged or not.  But using Apple Mail, when I flag a message it will not show as flagged in their own iOS Mail, which is incomprehensible, given they built both apps.
    If you find a great solution or discover anything new...please post it here, Doug. Thanks.

  • Problem accessing gmail with IMAP using JavaMail APIs

    Hi,
    I am trying to access my gmail account with JavaMail API. I am able to access it using pop3s but not with IMAP.
    I have used following details:
    protocol: imap
    host: imap.gmail.com
    port: -1 (also tried with 993) but no success.
    My basic code is
    url = new URLName(protocol, getHostname(), 993, mbox,
                              getUsername(), getPassword());
             Properties props = null;
             try {
              props = System.getProperties();
             } catch (SecurityException sex) {
              props = new Properties();
             session = Session.getInstance(props, null);
              session.setDebug(true);
            store = session.getStore(url);
            store.connect();
            folder = store.getFolder(url);
            folder.open(Folder.READ_WRITE);Any pointers?
    Thanks.

    Changed protocol from "imap" to "imaps"....and used port 993...and its working!!!!

It appears in my sent folder on the server (I can see it via GMail web interface) but it doesn't appear in my sent folder in Apple Mail. What am I missing ?

    i guess perhaps that the problem could be within the google settings.
    does anyone have another solution i could try?

    Hello
    I have a problem related to synchronization.
    When you synchronize ipad Section 3 "Other" takes as much memory up to 8 gigobayt.
    How to make the section "Other" did not increase?
    Thank you.

    DOCUMENTS AND DATA IS ALSO WHERE YOUR MAIL INFORMATION IS STORED SO IF YOU ARE A "HOARDER" IN EMAIL, GO INTO THE GMAIL, HOTMAIL, ICLOUD ETC WHATEVER YOU USE, AND DELETE YOUR TRASH, SENT, DRAFTS, ETC.
    THAT SHOULD HELP A LOT.

  • Need help troubleshooting imap/gmail account

    For reasons not worth getting into I changed my port setting from 25 to 587 (I think) to 25 again. Ever since, I can't get mail to sync with my gmail account.
    I have the right account name (gmail address), the right server (imap.gmail.com), the right password, the right server (smtp.gmail.com). I have it set to port 25.
    I have turned off (and on) SSL, and checked (and unchecked) "use only this server."
    I have not typed in an "Imap path prefix," but don't think I ever did. Any thoughts?

    I believe I switched it to 587--whatever number Verizon advised. they they told me that imap accounts were not affected by the 25 ban, so I switched back to 25.
    I've fixed the problem however, by deleting the account and starting over, resetting all the accounts online with google and then starting from scratch w/Mail. (Port is now 995.) Thanks for the help.

  • Problem with gmail acoount

    hey
    every few days i get a message when i check for mail:
    The POP server “pop.gmail.com” rejected the password for user
    the thing is that i can login to gmail using the browser
    30 minutes ago i was using the mail and everything was working, and now it rejects my PW
    help.....

    when this happened to me, i deleted the POP account and setup gmail under the IMAP settings. i haven't had any problems since then. all the settings are the same, the only difference is instead of having the incoming mail server be pop.gmail.com, it's imap.gmail.com. and obviously, through the gmail website, you would want to have IMAP enabled.
    hope this helps

  • Imap gmail stopped working

    my imap gmail stopped working on both my wifes ipad and my iphone sometime this evening 10 july 2013. says cannot connect to imap server and recommends checking settings.  i noticed a similar problem occurred once in 2012.  Is Apple working on this?

    IMAP stopped working on mine as well as two of my employees Macs. Two Google Apps Business accounts and one regular Gmail account. Gmail was down this morning so it might have something to with it. However, accessing mail through the web interface works fine. So something to do with IMAP.

  • Mail stopped connecting to imap Gmail

    Looks like many others are having same problem:
    OSX Mavericks 10.9.1 and Apple Mail 7.1 (1827):
    Yesterday, Mail stopped synching with my Gmail account. Get the error "Unable to Connect.....
    There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account “[name]@gmail.com” or try again.
    The server returned the error: The server “imap.gmail.com” cannot be contacted on port 993.
    I have verified password. I have used Network Utility to ping, lookup and portscan. No problems there. Good ping, etc.
    This is really a pain. What else can I do?

    Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages

  • Not sending mails with attachments (Imap Gmail)

    I've only Imap-Gmail accounts in my Apple Mail, and using it for almost a year without any problems. But since a couple of weeks, most of the time I'll send an email with an attachment in it. I'll get the Pop-Up window that the mail can not be sent, and that I can choose another mailserver to send the mail. When I check my connection, there is not a problem. But the mail is still standing in my Outgoing Mail and is not sending.
    Can anyone help?

    I was troubleshooting my own issue noted above and tried to send the attachments via gmail's web interface (bypassing Apple Mail). This time, gmail provided an error message stating that the file contained a virus.
    Since it was a zip of several Word docs, I saved them as PDFs and then rezipped, and Apple Mail sent them off like a champ.
    Evidently, Mail does not have a method for relaying the precise nature of the error message that gmail sends (in this case that the attachment had what gmail thought was a virus). This would be a prime area for some software developers to tackle on a future version of Mail.
    By the way, the files almost certainly do not contain viruses; they are extremely old Word Docs that have been on my successive Mac hard drives for at least 9 years. Too old a format for gmail to recognize?
    Hope this helps someone who may be having the same trouble.

  • Whats up with IMAP + Gmail + Apple mail

    Dear folks,
    I've been searching the entire (no really) internet for some answers but nothing seems to work and it's starting to annoy me now! The problem is that i've been using IMAP and Gmail perfectly for years on my mac. Recently i bought a new macbook pro and all of a sudden i cant receive any more emails! It just says it cant reach the IMAP server 'cause my password/username isn't right. I've tried just about anything. I know about the terminal trick where you delete some hidden folders and the capthca tricks. I've tried them all, nothing seems to work!
    I pay Apple a lot of money so it really bothers me that something like receiving email is such a big deal.. Can anyone please help me with this problem? It shouldnt be so hard right?
    Thanks guys!

    As you're trying to connect via IMAP is it safe to assume that you don't have any local emails stored? If you don't you could try wiping the Mail settings and start from scratch - see if that makes any difference. I only suggest that as accessing gmail via IMAP is working for me.
    If that doesn't work then as a long shot, what does imap.gmail.com resolve to for you? For me it's currently 209.85.229.109 (I'm assuming they have a few machines) and what happens if use that IP address instead of the URL?
