Customizing contact record storage

Hi,
CCA_AM_813 guide on page 97 tells about "six main configuration options for customizing contact record storage".
I tried to use "Configuration 4".
The guide says:
"In Configuration 4, you keep your contact records in a new
table that you create in the Oracle Contact Center
Anywhere database. You also create a new contact
template and a new data source: Custom contact template
(create)"
I followed all the instructions for "Configuration 4", but when I try to make a contact search from IM with the new "Display Template" I receive this error:
"An error occurred while searching for contacts"
And this are the IM logs:

It seems to be an access/security problem with the table... but I created it inside CCA DB!

your solution seems not to work with us, or maybe we have not understood...
In any case I found some old SR opened with Oracle still not solved: it seems a bug in the application.

    We are maintaining contact person details under contact person tab in customer master record.
    Currently contact person is being created using VAP1 transaction.
    Can we automate this contact person creation by entering the data in contact person itself?

    Hi Venkat,
    To your first question: "Can we automate this contact person creation by entering the data in contact person itself?"
    Yes, you can enter the contact person directly in the customer master in the contact person tab. A number is generated automatically.
    To your second question, go to transaction SNUM, and there use object "PARTNER". Here you can configure number range for contact persons.

  • Contact associated Custom object records in SR when contact is selected

    We have a scenario like this:
    Contact->Family members
    For Contact - Contact Record Type
    For Family members - using Custom Object 1 record type
    This is fine. Whenever a family member is added, ContactId is stamped against the Custom object 1 record. So, when the contact is searched, the family members are also displayed in the child.
    Problem:
    Whenever there is a SR raised against the Contact, the child of SR should show up Family member names of the selected Contact. These records should be editable.
    Have anyone come across such problem or do anyone have a good solution without using Web Services or any kind of integration here?

    Hi Becky, unfortunately you cannot directly create a custom object record in the manor you are describing (from a program or canvas step).  However, what you COULD do is submit to a form from program builder using the "Form Submit" cloud connector.  That way you can leverage the form processing steps as you would normally.  Be warned, if you want to use one custom object for ALL nurture records, then you will have to create a unique key other than email address (otherwise you will simply overwrite the last record over and over again).  The key could be something like email+nurtureName.  BUT be warned again, depending how many contacts you are nurturing, this type of cloud connector could get "clogged" pretty easily, as last i checked it was only able to process something like 300 records an hour.  If you have several thousand records potentially being nurtured, this may not be a great option.

  • Label "Customer" shows in Activity Clipboard shows both Customer & Contact

    In CRM 4.0 we were able to enhance this so contact record would show as 'contact' instead of  'customer' in the activity clipboard.
    In 5.0 this seems harder to do.  Have played with config & development but no luck so far.
    Any thoughts on how to achieve? this is a B2B scenario.

    Hi Shaughterdm,
    Welcome to Numbers discussions.
    When spreadsheets first appeared, I'm going back to the original Lotus 123, they were used by many folks and organizations as flat file databases so the short answer is yes you could do it.
    After reading your request a better answer would be to look at a relational database such as File Maker Pro and their new Beneto perhaps. Of course it depends on your needs, type of data recorded etc. Based on your reporting desires personally I'd lean towards database not a spreadsheet.
    Do evaluate your needs, what you want out of your data now and down the road. I wouldn't want to start with a spreadsheet then realize months, years later it should have been in a database—been there done that got that tee shirt and scars. I've worked with many that this happened to. UGH!
    I'm sure others will jump in here with other more helpful suggestions.

  • Adding a New Contact Record link in a report

    Dear Gurus,
    I've followed instructions on how to create a New record link in a report using instructions from the Oracle CRM On Demand Reporting book but needed additional help in terms of how to auto populate the Account Name onto the New Contact Edit screen. I've created a custom Contact report that is setup as a web applet to replace the OOB Contact section that is showing on the Account Detail screen.
    On this report, I've created a hyperlink that opens a New record edit screen for a Contact record. I need to pass in the Account Name since this is a required field on the Contact Detail screen and needed help with the URL that I've entered as a custom text format in the column formula. From the M. Lairson's Reporting book, I've entered:
    @[html]*a href="/OnDemand/user/ContactDetail?OMTGT=ContactDetailForm &ContactDetailForm.Id="@target="_

    (html not displayed correctly - I've to substitute < and > with *)
    This worked great but I need to pass in the Account Name. Can you help with a URL that will do what I needed? Thanks.

    Copy the URL from the contact create link and pass the values like Account Name etc by adding it to the URL, use & to separate the values.

  • How to create Pager Number for Customer contact in VAP1 or XD02

    HI ,
       I am trying to mass upload Customer contact data , there is pager number to be uploaded . but when i do it through BDC . Its doesnt record the ALV pop up as there no screen fields as it is not a program screen .
      So BDC selects only the first item in the list , which is FAX number . So i cant upload Pager number through BDC .
      Does there any method available to do the same ? i tried direct upload also but seems tedious .

    You would do it the way I created it:
    Select the Text tool in Photoshop and set the font and parameters as I have listed.  Then enter whatever text you like.  It will be rendered over the top of the lower layers you may have in the document.  Save as an image of the appropriate type and you're there.
    Note that "lower layers you may have in the document" could conceivably be none at all (i.e., you render the text over a transparent document).  You could imagine saving that as a .png with transparency and get light text in an image that could then be put over the top of anything else.  The alpha mixing will see to it that the edges smoothly blend with the background.  I haven't actually tried this (I usually do try my own suggestions) because of lack of time right now.

        I have the following requirement: I have customers that are also vendors. I will create Customer Master Data via IDOCs. My client wants the system to create a vendor master data record for those customers automatically when the customer MD IDOC is posted and a custmer number is generated.
    Do you have any idea how to do that?
    I suppose it should be some exit for the IDOC_INPUT_CREMAS function module but... what should I trigger ? How can I map the customer data to the vendor master data ?
    Is there any Workflow/BAPI that can help with this ?

    If you are creating a Lead Record using Webservices then you can also automatically create an Account or Contact Record as well. Make sure that you create the code to search the CRM first to make sure that the account or contact dont already exsist and then if they dont create an account or contact if they dont then the lead should be associated with the Account or Contact.

  • ContactList_UpdateInsert will not update Contact Record

    I'm having trouble getting ContactList_UpdateInsert to work with Contact Records that have a username.
    1) First, I call Contact_RetrieveByEntityID('adminuser', 'password' , 1234, entity_id) to retrieve the contact record data for updating.
    cr = c.service.Contact_RetrieveByEntityID('adminuser', 'password' , 1234, entity_id)
    2) Then I modify some data, such as ExternalID
    cr.externalId = '123456'
    3) Calling ContactList_UpdateInsert returns an error:
    'Contact(s) saved in the system. Please review the list of error(s)/warning(s) found when processing the data.\n- Contact: John Doe | ERROR: The username [TestUser] cannot be assigned to contact with email [] as it is already used.'
    Manually adding the emailAddress field because it's not in the original cr record fixes that error.
    cr.emailAddress = '[email protected]'
    Calling again gives the error:
    Contact(s) saved in the system. Please review the list of error(s)/warning(s) found when processing the data.\n- Contact: John Doe | ERROR: The username [TestUser] cannot be assigned to contact with email [[email protected]] as it is already used.'
    It seems as though any time the contact record has a username assigned, I'm unable to update the record. What's the deal??
    EDIT: I thought I was posting this in the API section, but apparently not. Sorry.

    Okay I figured this out. When updating, you either have to supply externalId or emailAddress to match the record you want to change. If neither is supplied, or it doesn't match the supplied value, it adds a new record instead of update. So if you're trying to add an external id, you have to supply the emailAddress parameter as well, so it can match the record you want to change. I don't know if you can change the external id since it will try to match the external id before the email address.
    This is the explanation from the knowledgebase
    Please note that similarly to the import routine, you can utilize the External ID property to set a unique idenitifier value for each customer. If this value is present then customers are matched and updated accordingly. For example if every customer in your system has a member number, then assign that to the External ID property. If you do not utilize this property then the unique identifier used will be a customer's email address. If neither is provided then contacts are added and never updated as no unique identifier exists.
    I assumed that if you retrieve the record you want first (using Contact_RetrieveByEmailAddress), then make your changes and send it to ContactList_UpdateInsert, it should just update that record. But you have to set the emailAddress parameter.

  • APEX Bugs: Editing customer contacts and uploading attachments

    I'm using the pre-packaged application, "customer tracker"
    Application Version 2.2.35
    Build Version 4, Application Express 4.2.3
    I am using it on a MAC
    And am having some issues with the pre-packaged application "customer tracker".  I uploaded a bunch of data. However, now when I try to edit a contact record, I get the following error:
    1 error has occurred unable to extend table application_name.EBA_CUST_History by 8 in tablespace APEX_5956688132079418188.
    It doesn't matter if I'm using Firefox or Safari.
    The only way I can modify customer records is to completely delete them and then manually add each one back in -- which is not very scalable. I was able to edit records previously.  This just started yesterday.
    Is this a known issue?  Any way to fix?
    I end up getting the same type of issue when I try to manually add an attachment  It doesn't matter if I'm adding a word doc or a PDF, same error.  This error started after I manually uploaded a handful of attachments last week. The error reads as follows:
    Unable to extend lob segment application_name.sys_LOB0006066941C00008$$ by 128 in tablespace APEX_5956688132079418188.
    Could someone please assist?

    What is the responsibility name? Form name and navigation path?
    You can determine the query from the form itself as follows:
    - Query the record(s)
    - Click on Help > Diagnostics > Examine
    - Under 'Block' field, select 'SYSTEM'
    - Under 'Field' field, select 'LAST_QUERY'

  • Webform Customer Contact field only adds email

    Hi,
    Our customers enter their information via a webform which automatically adds them to our CRM and creates a new case. Yay! Great and easy function.
    Here's the thing though, the customer also enters their Cell Phone as a mandatory field in our webform, however the record is not entered into the customer contact field and only their email address is added.
    Can anyone help?

    Hey there,
    At a guess you made a custom field for the cell phone number which will only go into the case. In the form builder you should select and use the cell phone number field, not a custom field. This will then go into the CRM entry.
    If you feel you have done that you need to ensure you have not renamed the input field name paramater as it needs to he the same as what it spits out in the system so it knows where to store it.
    If that is ok then it could be that you have changed the ID etc or changed the form to break the javascript of the form so people are leaving it blank and the script to run it is not working.

    This has been noted by a few people, must have been either a mistake or Blackberry's way of cutting down on the drug trade. Do drug dealers even use pagers anymore? Just kidding!
    I would call the issue into your Carrier's Blackberry support team so that it gets officially recognized and fixed in a future release.
    As a workaround for now I can suggest moving the pager numbers to any other type of telephone field.
