DRIVER HP photosmart 5510 B111a

  • Cannot print in draft on my HP Photosmart 5510 B111a

Hi - my HP Photosmart 5510 used to have the option of printing in draft.Following on from a reinstallation, this option is no longer available. Can anyone shed any light on why this has happened, and how I can fix it.  Thank you in advance,  JillC1

    Hi mm48,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are running into some print quality issues on your HP Photosmart 5510, you are unable to print in black ink.
I would like you to continue here: Printer Does Not Print Black Ink or Color Ink, or Prints Blank Pages, I understand you may have done some of these steps already but I need you to complete all steps in order to resolve the missing black issue you are experiencing.
Please note: There are three printhead cleaning stages. Complete all three stages if necessary. If the printhead is badly clogged, it might require another cleaning cycle. If so, wait 30 minutes after the last (third) cleaning stage to start the first stage of the cleaning process over again.
If you are still unable to print in black ink, I suspect the issue may be the printer and not the cartridge. Please let me know which Country/Region you are in as well as the product Warranty status: HP Warranty Checker
I hope to hear from you soon.

the printer has stopped connecting to word and keeps sayin default - i'm not into machines and computers and noticed before it has done this but if turned off seems to start up again but wont do this time - did a network test  and results seems to be ok except it says attention to the manufacturers default network name and recommends this is changed  How???and why ? the results of test
wireless on pass working pass signal quality excellent
    connectivity
connected pass disconnect count total 21 disconnect count (last hour) 0 disconnect count (last 24 hours) 0
Network name (SSID) found pass no filtering pass channel 11 security pass
settings - printer settings consistent with wireless router settings pass - no filtering - pass channel - 11 security pass
then goes on about configuration  which is clear as muck lol

I personally have not seen an error that only said default.
What is the exact error message you are seeing?
Is Word the only program affected?
Are you able to print from any program or not at all?
What brand and model is the router?
What operating system does the computer use (e.g. Windows 7, Vista, XP, etc.)?
Was the driver installed from the CD or from a download from HP's site?

  • How to do a full reset of an HP Photosmart 5510 B111a

Printer out of warranty. Two weeks ago HP software notified my original black XL cartridge was almost empty. A couple of days later, and without removing cartridge, HP software notified the same cartridge was fake. Despite of this I could print normally during the next week. When black cartridge stopped printing I replaced it with another original XL, and since then black cartridge does not work any more.
Now I even get messages warning all my cartridges must be replaced (even the new black one).
I think I'have to buy another printer, but wanted to try the hard reset before. I am from Spain.
    Thank you very much

Hi @Cuelebre , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're having cartridge errors.  I'd like to help!
Before looking into a reset, I'd like to suggest a couple of other things.
I'd recommend removing the ink cartridges, and performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I'd then suggest following the steps in this document:
'Incompatible Ink Cartridge(s),' 'Cartridge Problem,' or 'The Indicated Ink Cartridge(s) Must Be Rep...
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • HP Photosmart 5510 B111a - iMac can't locate printer on network

When I first bought this printer I set everything up just fine and everything worked great. I recently moved, and for some reason when I hooked it back up, it will not print. I am able to go thru the setup assistant with the printer wired to the iMac just fine until it asked for the usb to be removed and then it says that "device not found on network". I am not sure what the problem could be. Seems it should be quite easy, but I cannot for the life of me, figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.
    Matt

Well, I have the same problem with my WIndows 7 (64 bit) laptop. Installing seems to go fine with USB, printer is connected to my network, and works. After I have restarted the networkconnection is still fine (in menu printer) but when I try to print without the USB-cable the printer cannot be found by my computer.
I have tried ever troubleshooting step I could find but still it doesn't work via the network (with USB cable no problems).
Could a permanent IP adress configuration in the router be a solution?
    Kind regards,
    Ilco

  • HP Photosmart 5510 B111a - Cannot connect to the server

My printer is not printing when I email [id] @ hpeprint.com, even though I get the "ePrint Job Received" email, so I investigated it further.
It's on the network because I can access the web page like normal.
    Here's what I'm greeted with.
There's a red cross next to the "ePrint", but the network has a green tick. Odd.
I check the "web services" tab...
Again, it shows a red cross and says "fix this".
I click "fix this", which after a little while displays this.
    The error says:
    Cannot connect to the server.
Check the Internet connection and try again. Or contact your system administrator or the person who set up the printer.
If your network requires a proxy server address to connect to Internet, click Enter Proxy or check your browser settings.
I know my connection is working as it should be.
I believe the fault lies in the printer, please can you advise further.
    Thanks.

    I discovered the problem.
I recall the printer had advised me some weeks ago to automatically set a manual IP.
When this was done it seems to turn off DNS settings so it cannot resolve any hostnames and will not access any services even though it is connected to the network.
I restored the IP back to automatic, which allowed me to also set DNS to automatically.
It seems that if you set a manual IP address on the printer, you cannot set the DNS.
    Odd behaviour.

  • Photosmart 5510 printer model #B111A when using touchscreen apps i cannot connect to the server

Photosmart 5510 all-in-one printer,  model #B111A, windows XP----i can print from the computer, but when i try to use the apps on the touchscreen i get a message error "cannot connect to the computer"

The steps below typically resolve the issue you’re experiencing:
    1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
    2. Unplug the power cord from the back of your router (and modem, if separate from the router).
    3. Wait 20 seconds, then plug the router (and modem, if applicable) back in.
    4. Wait 30 seconds, then plug the printer back in and power it on.
    5. Press the ePrint button on the printer's front panel, and it should try to connect to Web Services again.
Those steps usually resolve the issue, but if it still occurs you can try setting static network info for the printer (which sometimes helps to stabilize the printer's ability to get outside of your network, to the internet):
    1.  Press the wireless icon at the top of the printer's screen and note the IP address.
    2.  Enter the IP address into the address bar of a web browser on a computer and press enter or click the browser's go button.
    3.  The printer status page should be opened.  Click on Network at the top.
    4.  Click on Networking on the left.
    5.  Select Proxy Settings.
Note:  If you are prompted for a redirect, select OK.  If you receive a certificate warning, select the option that lets you continue anyway.
If you receive a Internal System Error, refresh the page until it loads the proxy settings.
    6.  Verify that all fields are blank.  If they are not, clear them and make sure the Proxy Server requires authentication is unchecked and click apply.  You should get a success message.
    7.  Click on Network Address (IP) on the left.
Note:  If you only see IP Address Configuration and DNS Address Configuration with a yellow note, refresh the page until it loads completely.
    8.  Leave the IP Address Configuration as Automatic IP.
    9.  Change DNS Address Configuration to Manual DNS server.
    10.  Enter 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Manual Alternate DNS Server.
    11.  Click Apply and you should get a success message.
    12.  Power off the printer for 30 seconds and then turn it back on to force the new settings to take effect.

  • My HP Photosmart 5510 won't scan photos to file on my Mac running Yosemite

    This question was solved.

    Hi @JaneCat,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that you cannot scan photos from your HP Photosmart 5510 to a file on your Mac running Yosemite. I am sorry to hear this, but I am happy to help!
I would recommend downloading the full feature software and drivers from our website, HP Photosmart 5510 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers, as it is compatible with Mac OS X Yosemite.
If you are still having issues, I would also recommend this scanning guide, A 'No computer found' Message Displays during Scanning. Then follow the steps for the section that says it is for, Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, OS X v10.7 Lion, OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion, or OS X v10.9 Mavericks. As these steps will still work on Mac OS X Yosemite.
I would also see this how to scan guide, Scanning with the Full Feature HP Software in OS X v10.10 Yosemite.
Hope this information is helpful, and thank you for posting!

  • Does anyone know if I can print to hp photosmart 5510 from my 1st generation ipad if I can't download the drivers for the printer?

Am trying to set up an HP Photosmart printer and it is proving much more complicated than I'd expected. I don't seem to be able to download to my ipad from the HP website - does anyone know how I manage to print, or get my ipad to recognidse the printer, if I've no printer software downloaded?
Thanks, in anticipation, for your help

You can't download drivers, or any other software, via a browser on the iPad. If the printer isn't the HP Photosmart 5510 e-AiO B111a which supports AirPrint, and it also isn't supported by HP's ePrint app, then you can see if any of the third-party printer apps such as Print Central For iPad or Print n Share work with it.

  • HP Photosmart 5510 - Installation support

    Hi,
I'm trying to set my HP Photosmart 5510 All-in-one via Wi-fi. When I'm asked to enter the IP adress from the printer, the driver keeps telling me that I've got the wrong IP adress. What should I do to solve this problem?

Sorry that you are having a problem with the IP address being wrong.
When you have the printer connected wireless from the front panel, you just need to install the software and drivers from the computer.
You should not have to put in the IP Address, unless you are adding the printer from the (Add Printer) tab in Device and printers.
Install the CD or go to the link below, and just download the drivers. After download, it should search for the printer, and find it and the IP address on it's own.

Is there no driver that I can download so that the printer does it automatically ? I'm confused I think it is such a waist of paper if you can't print on both sides.

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01663233&tmp_task=useCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang...

  • Photosmart 5510 - connection to Mac

The Photosmart 5510 software is installed on my Mac, the printer has found the wifi and is connected, but my Mac is not connecting with my printer and refuses to 'find' it on setup.
I have the USB cable and this is not helping either. Ideas? Thanks

You are going to use an ethernet cable to connect the Mac to one of the 3 lan ports on your TC. The USB port is or connecting a printer or an usb hard drive to that you want to share.

  • 2 of photosmart 5510 wireless

i have 2 photosmart 5510 e-all-in-one printers that need to work wireless from 2 different laptops in a small business.
laptop 1 works fine on printer 1
laptop 2 prints to printer 1 only & does not see printer 2 even when connected via usb, due to confidentiality must only go to printer 2

You will have to add the second printer manually on each laptop:
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Devices & Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.

My Photosmart 5510 All-in-One has avery limited choice  when I go to properties options i.e no duplex printing (which I use regularly) no choise for colour , gray or black and few others diferent options. My old HP Al -in One had a fantastic number of options to choose from for printing.
I've noticed that only the Basic driver is downloaded and installed and I can not get it to download and install the full version. I have tried with the installation CD it came with as well as directly from HP web site.
    Can anyone help?
