Dropped my ipod in the snow

hey guys! i have a real knee slapper. one of my roommates who is on a co-op work term right now gave me his ipod for the term since he's gone. it's a 30gb black ipod video which i think might be a fifth generation ipod, i'm not too sure. long story short, i dropped the ipod in the drive way in the cold temperature, found it 5 hours later, now when i try and turn it on the logo appears and it makes this angry ipod face that says www.apple.com/support/ipod:( i've tried everything from resetting it to setting it in disc mode but nothing works. it tries to keep on restarting and it just goes in this cycle of the apple logo and the angry ipod face. please help!

I think you mean the sad iPod icon. This is a hardware issue, leaving your iPod in the snow for so long probably ruined its battery and possibly other particles inside it. Read this for help:

Again, sorry to tell you but this is most likely a hardware issue meaning that your iPod requires professional service.

There are companies that specialize in data retrieval but it's costly (probably cheaper to buy a new iPod) and more than likely as Allan said, your circuits are probably damaged beyond all hope of retrieving anything. - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
