Edited Images not Published

I edited my images from my web page using Photoshop CS5 (using control click, edit in Photoshop), saved them and when I was finished, I published the draft and the images were in their pre-edited stage. It worked when I did just one image on a page but this time I edited 6. I tried various times to publish the draft but had the same result. My versiond of Contribute is CS5.

Yes, each is its own image, as making one text box and hyperlinking each word/phrase results in the unchangeable (arrrgh!) grey underlined text that changes to red on rollover.
I've already been experimenting with exactly what you mentioned. I just tried shrinking all the image boxes, without encroaching on the text, so they would clearly not overlap. I'm publishing to me.com for these experiments so I don't have to keep publishing the entire site to a folder, then ftping to my server. Here's the page I just experimented with:

In iWeb, all links are good to go, no overlapping, etc. Curiously enough, on this page, there are even more dysfunctional hyperlinks with those image boxes.

Likely bug with external editing (in CS5 not CS6 beta) and edited image not showing back up in LR

I have come across something strange today that I've not seen before. I'm running LR 4.0 under Win7 64-bit. I usually use Photoshop CS6 beta as my external editor, but invoke CS5 when I have to use some tools that don't support the beta. Here is the scenario:
* I have CS5 open
* I externally edit an image in CS5 and Save it from CS5 when I'm done
* The edited image does not show up in LR
* I close LR and reopen it
* There is the edited image!
I have duplicated this many times this evening. I don't think I've seen it when I've used CS6 beta.

Something strange is going on because I had the behavior reported of edited image not showing up after using another filter, Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.

Can I use iPhoto to view and edit images not stored in the iPhoto Library

Hi folks,
I'm a newbie to Mac after 20+ years on PC...just switched 2 weeks ago....wish I'd done it years ago. Everythings so easy and fast...e.g. setup wireless broadband in 25 mins with no probs....and I have never done anything like that.
Here's my Q.
I have a load of images, downloads and scans, of old manuscripts, authors etc. which I don't really want in my iPhoto library (which I would like to keep for actual photos. Is it possible to point iPhoto to another location (say in Documents) where it will let me view and edit these images without importing them into the library.
Alternatively can I view images as thumbnails in this other locations, and not as default file type icons.

iPhoto 5 imports all images into it's own database. (this has changed with iPhoto 6 so you might want to check out iLife 6)
The other files you want to view but not have in the library...are they image files?
If so, you can view that folder as icons and then make the icons larger so you can see what they are.
To do this open the folder in question. click the first icon on top of View in the toolbar. This will make that folder contents view as icons
Now go all the way to the top of your screen and click on View>show view options.
Slide the icon size slider all the way to the right to view them larger. Also make sure you have the "show icon preview" checked.
This will work most of the time, but sometimes if you edit images in other applications they might not make icon previews, so check their preferences to make sure you have that checked.
There is also a little third party program that will do it for you.
One is called Pic2Icon

Another one is a contextual menu item called QuickImageCM.

check out that page because there are some other useful contextual menu items that I use all the time.

Edited images not showing up in iphoto

when I edit images in photoshop elements and save them they do not show up in iphoto. I am saving them as tiffs.

I am saving them as tiffs.
But what were they?
If there is a format change - from jpeg to tiff, from Raw to something else - then you need to save the files to the desktop first and then import them as new files.

Ps edited images not visible under keywords or in collections

Images I edit in PS no longer show up back in the catalog with the orignal under keyword or in a collection. I can find them when I go back to the orginal folder by the date the original was shot, but I don't work from the folders because that's not how my projects are organized, so they end up being pretty much invisible to me. when I locate them in the folders, the ps edited image has the same keywords as the original and is in the collection I was working on, but I can't view it when I choose that keywork or the collection. It shows there is a second image but won't allow you to see it, unless you go to folders. Is this something in a new version of lightroom, because my ps edited images have always been visible before, next to the orginal within a catalog or by a keyword. Is there something different you need to do for that to happen now?

By George, that did it! I had regenerated previews, but I missed the main issue.
Why would thumbnails disappear like that?

Photoshop edited image not appearing back in Aperture!!

I'm a Lightroom user but thought I'd try out Aperture 3 for a new project to see if I prefer it.
I scanned in an old family photo album and imported them into Aperture. Some of the photos got torn as I removed them from the pages (they were glued!!) so I thought I'd repair them in Photoshop and also try to remove the paper texture that also got 'scanned' for some of the photos.
When I choose the option "Edit with Adobe Photoshop CS4", I can see a TIFF copy is created and it appears alongside the original image in the viewer. I can also see the physical file in Finder.
However, after I finish editing the image in Photoshop, and save and close it, switch back to Aperture, the TIFF image just disappears from the viewer.
I checked to see if a stack is created, but there isn't one. The physical file still exists in Finder though.
I tried manually importing the edited TIFF image back into the project, but it still doesn't appear!!!
The Aperture library file has increased though, so it seems like something has happened but I just can't seem to access my Photoshop edited image in Aperture.
I have tried this a few times, with different photos, but get the same results.
The other option I tried was regenerating thumbnails for the project but still nothing happens.
Anyone have any suggestions, what's going on??

How did you fix this? I'm having a similar problem!

PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS 3--EDITED IMAGES NOT VIEWABLE--WHY ???

Recently had computer "serviced" and within 24 hours I realised when I edited any images and saved them all I got was a jagged image of nothing.Computer service people told me it was nothing to do with service or Windows, to uninstall/reinstall Adobe photoshop 3.0 but despite trying everything no luck.All goes fine until I save the edited image .Any help much appreciated.

I have no idea what to do but I think you need to give more details for someone to help you.
What is a "jagged image of nothing?" You can upload a screenshot to pixentral.com and put a link to it in your post.
Are you talking about the thumbnail view in the Organizer photo well?
Can you view the images in other programs (windows picture viewer?)
What are you saving as: psd, jpg, tiff, etc?
Can you open the image in editor?
Are you windows xp or vista?
When things that used to work stop working two first steps to try are file>catalog>recover and deleting the preferences.

IWeb '08 Images Not Publishing and Image Distortion in Application

I created a website a couple of years ago and recently noticed two issues:
1) Images I included on the site are now not showing up on the published site, but still appear in iWeb '08 app.
2) Images and graphics in iWeb '08 app are barely showing up. It looks like images that were really over exposed, but the rest of my computer shows colors and images beautifully.
Anyone else run into these issues? How should I fix it?

Actually, somehow, I just solved both problems. I opened up iWeb 9 and it seemed to resolve both issues. Sorry for any confusion.

Edited images not updating...

I went through every slide image and removed some errant marks, using the :Edit with..." function in Captivate and when I go back into Captivate, the image hasn't changed, so I close the file, reopen it, and it still doesn't update the image. I also noticed sometimes when I select a slide then right click and select "Find Background in the Library" and it selects totally the wrong image. Any ideas what might cause this? Below are my system specs...

Didn't work. Whats strange is if I have the background image selected in the Library palette, the preview shows the correct image. Now theres a new problem. When I breview the project, it's not even showing that slide, it's using the background from the previous slide!!!!! This is driving me crazy! Any other ideas?

Muse Edits Do Not Publish

I am using the Beta version of Muse. I launched the website to a third-party provider (StartLogic) and it all went well. I have since then made many edits to the pages. I saved the pages and exported the site to my FTP server. It all looked as if it transferred; however, when I went back to view the website, not one of the pages reflect my changes. I even tried saving the Muse site as a different name. Again, it looked as if it exported and transferred; however, nothing changed. Is there anything else that can be done? Or are edits not possible in the Beta version??

I am having this problem too.
I'm using Muse 2.1
I clear cache and Hard Refresh.
My hosting is from GoDaddy and it is working but just not right.
When I delete all files off the server and then FTP the entire site I get errors saying Muse can't create a folder "like: assets" and any other folder having to do with Adobe Edge. I click Retry and it creates the folder for each error.
But only about 90% of the files actually upload and most Edge files and even some pictures don't show up.
If I manually upload the website using Internet Explorer as my FTP it works perfect even for overwriting files.
The last web design program I was using would FTP fine and even overwrite old files for changes.
The FTP does works on another Muse website that goes into a Subdirectory.
I think it's a problem going into the root folder.
I know there is an update that affects FTP but I couldn't find it to install.....

Externally edited image not stored with referenced files?

When I open an image in the external editor, do my work in PS, and then save, the new file is located in the Aperture Library even though the master for the image is a referenced file. Is there any way to change this so the new images will be placed in the same folder as the referenced images? Thanks...gary

I'm afraid for the moment you have to do it manually by selecting the image and going to File/Relocate Master.
We should have and option in Aperture to allow us to have ALL the images in an external location.

SP 2010 Publishing - Rollup and Page Images not visible when entering page edit mode

Hello, I have an odd issue recently appearing after installation of FEB 2013 CU install. When users select to Edit a Publishing Page the Rollup Image and also Page Image(Article Page Layout) are not visible. Only the "Click here to insert Image from
SharePoint" link is visible.
The issue has be confirmed in 5 servers across two farms
DEV, QA, and PROD on client recently updated
DEV and PROD in a completely separate client farm
I have confirmed the issue does not exist in two separate farms running April 2012 CU. In both of those environments the image appears with issue even in Edit page mode.
In the farms where the issue exists you can click the insert image link and simply hit OK to see the image again. An easy enough work around for tech savvy but my client's content admins are very confused/frustrated by.
Is this a bug? I have confirmed in two separate farms including brand new web applications using out of the box publishing site templates.

We have been facing the same issue in a 2013-environment (SP1), but in this case an upgraded 2010 Solution, which still runs in 2010-mode. Because of this, SharePoint still use resource-files in the 14-hive (as we have not performed an upgrade of Master
Pages etc.) The problem is also reproduced on a clean 2010 Site Collection in the same 2013-environment.
I have managed to find the cause of the problem (at least in our environment), and that is that as long as the selected picture/image has
not defined an "AltText"/"Alternate Text" the problem seems to occur.
In other words, try to define an Alternate Text and click OK in the "Edit Image Properties" Dialog.
I don't know if this may be the case for everyone else, but give it a try.
From this, I've further discovered (after hours of js-debugging) that there is a minor change (from 2010 to 2013) in a js-file called "SelectorControls.js" which is responsible for updating the various controls used in Page Layouts etc.
The problem exist in a method called ASO_UpdateButtonsAndPanels(), which checks whether the Image Control in question has content or not (Url). The local variable "hasContent" is then determined of an if statement, if(this.AssetData.ManageLinkDisplayText)
which in 2010 (14-hive) seems to be "true" regardless whether the Control is of type Image or Hyperlink. Further the code checks for AssetText (Alternate Text) which on an Image may be left empty.
In 2013 (15-hive) however, this if statement has been changed to, if(this.SelectorType==ConstLinkSelectorType), which clearly states "Image" or "Link" depending on the type of control.
I don't know if this is the cause of the problem in 2013, but in 2010 it seems to be exactly that.
Pending a solution from Microsoft, we have modified SelectorControls.js to overcome this issue until the customer decides to do a Visual Upgrade to 2013.
This is by all means not a supported nor a a permanent solution to the problem, as future Hotfixes, Service Pack etc. may "reset" our fix.

Hyperlinks edits are not retained when site is published

I am trying to link images on a page to specific url in iWeb slideshow. I am setting up the link as an external link and paste the entire url from the slideshow. I have gotten it to work but not consistently. If I cut and paste the url from the slideshow into the link inspector and edit the photo number (after the #) that edit does not seem to be retained when I publish the site. In fact, when I view the link characteristics in the inspector the type has changed to file and the name of the file is the photo file name.
Any ideas what is happening. Like I said, I have gotten it to work but I cannot seem to figure out why some work and others do not.

Point of clarification... I was not linking directly to the slide show but rather the page that is automatically generated from a gallery page when you click on a thumbnail. This keeps the formatting of that automatically generated page.
Update: I've been able to resolve the issue. The solution I found is as follows:
For each of the photo links I set the "Link To" value to "One of My Pages" and selected the main page. Then I set the "Link To" value to "An External Page" and then my pasted url was saved.
One of my coworkers suggested that I create five additional pages formatted exactly like I those that are automatically generated but DO NOT add them to the navigation bar. This method also works.

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
