Epson Scanner connection problem

I have used my Epson 2480 scanner for a few test scans and had no problems. Now all of a sudden the green power light is OFF but only when the USB cable is plugged in. If I unplug the USB cable the power light comes on. I have no idea what would cause this. I tried re-installing the software but that didn't do it. I tried plugging it into a powered Belkin USB hub and directly into my G5 dual 2.5 GHZ but there was no difference. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

If available, plug it into another computer to see if you get the same results. Did your problem occur after updating to 10.4.4 and did you check http://www.epson.com for any updated drivers?

  • Epson Scanner Selection Problem in Acrobat 9

With the most recent update of Acrobat 8 as well as with Acrobat 9, when I try to create a pdf using my scanner, Acrobat does not recognize my Epson Perfection 3200 Photo scanner. I have the most recent version of the twain driver and Epson Scan utility (with works on my MacPro). Any suggestions of how to correct the problem?

John said he was using the very latest Driver for his MacPro. Although the software work around might work for him.

  • Mustek scanner connectivity problems

I recently bought the much-maligned Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB. I am running Mavericks 10.9.5 on my iMac.
After finding and installing the driver and ImageAcquire software, I thought I had solved all my problems.
However, all I get is a "Scanner not connected to computer" error message when I attempt a scan.
I have checked all the obvious signs (the scanner is plugged into power and to the computer by USB).
Does anyone else have this issue? Mustek support is virtually nonexistent and I'd really like to use this scanner.

Are you able to set the ImageAcquire software to launch in 32 bit mode?  I had some problems with my Canon scanner and software. It turned out that the scanner required the software to be in 32 bit mode.  I had to download and install the 32 bit version of the scanning software.

  • Scanner Connection problems.....

I have a powerbook G4. Recently I have had problems connecting to my HP Scanjet 3970. I used to be able to connect to it with no problem, but all of a sudden I can not connect to it at all. can anyone help?
    powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Repair permissions is one item to try.
Have you recently replaced a short cable with a longer cable?
Have you recently loaded new software that might be affecting the scanner such as VueScan?
Have you tried reinstalling the software that came with the scanner?
Have you tried a different USB port, different cable, scanner on a different computer?
Have you looked in your system logs for error messages?

  • Microsoft problem in image aquisition from Epson scanner

I cannot get my Epson Perfection 3200 Photo to scan even using its own Epson Scan program. I always used Photoshop 7 to scan and import the images easily. Then we moved to a new house, and when I went to reconnect everything, Microsoft doesn't recognize the Epson scanner no matter what I do. Epson technicians were not able to help. I believe that it's a Microsoft acquisition problem. It says "Could not open the TWAIN source". Should I just remove everything that has to do with Epson, even the plug-in in Photoshop, then recalibrate my monitor and reload Epson after that? --thank you, L Williamson

Re-installing is the first step, make sure after the un-install that you remove any vestiges of the install left over. Disconnect the scanner while doing this. After you are finished, shut off the computer, re-connect and start the scanner, start the computer again and let Windows find it and then install the latest software for the scanner.

  • Acrobat XI won't connect with Epson Scanner

I have an Epson Perfection V33 scanner connected to a MacBook Pro. When I open Acrobat XI and choose File > Create > PDF from Scanner, I get this error message:
"Error interacting with the scanner. The selected scanner was not found."
The scanner is properly connected via USB; I can scan with it. Any idea how I can get Acrobat to connect with it? Thanks.

You are more likely to get an answer if you ask in the Acrobat forum.

  • Problems with Image Capture for Epson Scanner

When using image capture for my Epson scanner, at the Image Correction, when I select Manual I get no menu options.

There is no Epson scanner utility for Mountain Lion, it appears. Even Epson's FAQ defers to Image Capture and says it only provides software for image modification.
    http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&info Type=FAQ&oid=207953&foid=214278&cat=214269&subcat=214264
Unfortunately Image Capture completely fails to provide the service it should be expected to. The 3rd party software VueScan seems like it would be adequate once I learned how to manipulate it a little more, but ultimately the only decision I can justify is to hook up the scanner to my Windows PC and use the TWAIN-based scan utility there.
If there's anywhere I can make an official plea to Apple to get Image Capture in a workable state, feel free to point the way.

  • How i solved my iPod to iTunes connectivity problem

After reading so much advice on this forum, I just wanted to tell you guys about the problem I was having with getting my Windows XP machine and iTunes to communicate with my brand new 80 Gb iPod Classic, and how I finally managed to fix the problem (I hope).
The problem was that my iPod communicated very poorly with my Windows machine and especially with iTunes. When I first bought the iPod, I was able to get it to work with iTunes sporadically. After three days of struggle I was able to sync my 3100 song music library to it, but then things began to deteriote. It got to the point where the iPod would not sync with iTunes, if iTunes recognized it at all. When I connected the iPod to my computer, it would show up as a USB device in the Windows device manager, but if I tried to open it in Explorer I could see no folders. iTunes could see it, but it would insist that it was not compatible with Windows and that I needed to restore it. When I tried to restore it, I'd always get an "unknown error" error message. It was impossible to connect to it or restore it!
Finally, I figured out what the problem was. It was my HP PhotoSmart C4280 "all in one" printer! As soon as I disconnected that thing from its USB port the iPod suddenly was fully recognized by iTunes and I could sync it again. Furthermore, the syncing process was about 10 times faster! It was a miracle!
I believe the issue had something to do with the on-board memory card readers on the printer. Those show up as a letter drive under Windows, whether you have a card in them or not. I believe the HP USB driver was somehow interfering with the Apple USB driver, but that's just a theory.
Even with the iPod working, I still had a problem because the printer could not be connected at the same time as the iPod. I managed to fix that problem too (I think). I went to the HP support site and downloaded the latest printer driver software. Now both the printer and the iPod seem to coexist peacefully. I may not be completely out of the woods, but right now it looks promising.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my little success story with you in case there was someone else out there having the same problem.

You might find the HP doesn't just interfere with your iPod. I have an Epson all-in-one photo printer/scanner/copier with card reader that interferes with EVERY other external drive I connect. I tried my best with Epson support but got nowhere. Problem occurs in both Vista & XP, with at least 3 memory keys, 2 500gb external drives & the iPod. If I turn the printer on, all access to other USB drives is disrupted. Sometimes I can view the top level folders (cached?) but they appear to have no content - scared myself a few times at first. It's a bore but there seeems little I can do until Epson acknowlege the problem & issue new drivers.

  • VUESCAN & V550 EPSON SCANNER

I need some help from the experts here. I recently bought Vuescan in order to get the best out of my new Epson 550V. But the Vuescan does not see that scanner. I also have a Canon all in one printer that scans & Vuescan does see & scan from it.
The Epson Scanner software does see & scan from the 550
Image cature only offers the Canon all in one as a source but not the Epson.
System Printer & Scanner prefs pane does not see the Epson scanner
In "about this mac" system report" USB it does see that the Epson scanner is connected to the computer
I exchaned many emails with Ed Hamerick of Vuescan but he finnally gave up & could not resolve the problem
Does any have any ideas as to how I can get this epson scanner recognized by vuescan as well as image capture?

For those who come across this problem I have found a soution.
Sometime I get very motivated by a challenge!!! I noticed a posting on the Appe Discussion Board about ICA driver that would allow for using the Epson Scanner in Image Capture so I d loaded it from http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid= 231162&prodoid=63097270&infoType=Downloads&detected=yes&platform=OSF_M_X9 &
After I installed the ICA driver everything was fixed. The Epson Scanner shows up in Vuescan & works properly. It now shows up  in “Printer & Scanner” preference pane, & it shows up in Image Capture.

  • Finnicky epson scanner via server

We have an Epson Perfection 3200 scanner connected to our (less than 2 months old) Mac mini server running Snow Leopard Server. We have been using Image Capture on user machines to access the shared scanner via ethernet connection. It works great.. for a while. The problem is that every few days, the scanner stops responding. Image Capture opens, but when you click on the scanner in the list of devices, it just reads "Trying to open scanner session..." and never resolves.
Sometimes restarting the scanner will fix this problem, but not always. We end up having to restart the server and kick everybody off that's using files at the time in order for the scanner to show up again.
We have tried accessing from multiple user machines (Leopard, SL, diff machines, no result)
We have tried restarting user machines
We have power-cycled and restarted the scanner
We have disconnected and reconnected ethernet at user-machines
We are trying to avoid having to restart the server every time this issue occurs, since we have to scan things several times a day. Any ideas? Thanks.

There is nothing wrong. The USB port on the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) does NOT support scanning.

  • Software Update cannot identify my Epson Scanner

Update software cannot locate software from the App Store for my Epson Scanner when connected to my MacBook Pro.  I updated my mid 2010 MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion (Ver.10.8.1 latest).  I follow instructions using software update of connecting my Epson Scanner to the computer and selecting update software from the menu.  The response is "no updates available". Tried it many times. Following the same procedure with my MacBook Air that I upgraded from Lion to Mt Lion, the store provided a new driver for the Epson Perfection 1650 on the first try so the scanner works.  I am also having issues with Office 2011 of not opening certain docs and parts of applicaitons on my MacBook Pro, do not know if the 2 issues are related.

I had the same problem.  I ran permissions repair and restarted.  No more bogus notifications.
    Then...
Sorry,  the problem came back.  I then went to Apple support and downloaded the Epson Update from there.  For some reason the update was not available fron the usual software update but was downloadable from the Apple Support.  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398
For the last week -- no more annoying pop-ups asking me to update and then not doing anything.  Hope this works for you, too.

  • BB Link stops my Epson scanner...

So suddenly BB Link began working on Easter-day's night and it's now working fine.
But there's a little problem that I've always had, even when Link didnt work. When BB Link is installed, my Epson scanner doesnt work. When i double click on Epson Scan to start the scanner, it doesnt load and then I get a message saying that I have to check if the scanner is connected and so on. Long story short: if BB Link is installed, my scanner doesnt start. If it's not installed, scanner works flawlessly. I have an Epson Stylus Office BX305FW Plus printer, fax, scanner.
Does anyone else get this problem? Any suggestions? Please help Thanks.

I am having the same problem with an Epson Workforce 635.
You can stop the Blackberry Link Communication Manager Service from running on your PC and the scanner will work. Just restart the service when you wan to use BB LInk.

  • Connection Problem HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910

    Dear Forum,
we are experiencing connection problems with the Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Printer/Scanner.
The device is connected via Wireless Network and can reach the server (e.g. for storing scanned images).
When we try to access the printer (or scanner) with a Computer (WinPC or Mac) that is also connected via the same Wireless Network, the printer/scanner cannot be reached (host unreachable), i.e. even a simple PING to the network address (IP V4) of the printer/scanner cannot be completed. As soon as we connect the computer via wired LAN, the printer/scanner can be reached again (normal operation). Between both states (computer connected via Wireless Network or Wired LAN) no changes were made to the configuration of the printer/scanner. It simply is unreachable when the computer trying to connect to the printer/scanner is connected via Wireless Network.
We have looked at different firewall settings of the Wireless Router but did not find anything, the firewall is deactivated (as the router operates behind a firewall, as does the whole LAN).
I already switched on the "compatibility to 802.11b/g" in the advanced network settings of the printer, no effect.
Anyone got a smart idea why this is so? We tried with different computers and different operating systems, but always the same picture...
    Thanks!
