Folio builder panel problem on login

Updated my folio builder panel and now when I login it tells me I have to update eventhough I just did. Am I the only one with this problem? T.

Hi John!  You mentioned that it will be down the evening of March 12th, do you have any idea what time? We'd like to keep working and uploading content, but want to make sure that we don't screw anything up. Thanks!

  • CS5 Folio Builder Panel Update - Panel Gone

I just updated the Folio Builder Panel for CS5 on Mac to the latest version (Jan 26, 2012) and when I run InDesign, the Folio Builder Panel is no longer there. Also, the CSLive panel gives me an "internal error" message. I installed the updates on my PC for CS 5.5 and it all seems to work. However, I need to work in CS5 for this particular project. Is this a known issue? How do I remedy the situation? In case it matters, I also updated the Folio Producer Tools (Jan 17, 2012), as well.

So, I ended up getting everything ironed out, though it took a couple of hours of trying various things. Essentially, the Folio Builder Panel was installed, however Indesign was not seeing it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Indesign, but that didn't remove the Folio Builder Panel, and did not "refresh" it to become visible.
Ultimately, I had to go throught the app folders and manually uninstall the extension. After reinstalling, the panel showed up. However a new problem emerged. Indesign was trying to login to my account but just spinning and nothing was happening. I could not cancel the "sign in" attempt. Finally, this was resolved by opening key chain and deleting the Adobe entry from there which allowed me to reenter my credentials.
Whew. Thank goodness that's over. (until the next update, that is).
Hopefully, this can save others some time who may run into this. Seems like it was a bit of a fluke.

  • Sharing/Unsharing Apps in Folio Builder Panel - Tweaks

Adobe could help us out by cleaning up this Folio Builder panel feature.
Pasting a list of e-mail addresses has to be formatted juuuust right, otherwise it doesn't recognize them. When adding users it would be useful if there was some sort of memory/auto-fill that recognized previously added users from other folios. Perhaps a master list appears and we could just click to add users from that list. Showing the abbreviated address or name is also quite annoying (for example, when you add a user it formats the entry into a nice little "bubble" but truncates the info). Is this really necessary?
    Thanks for being awesome.

Hi Ruthanne, thanks for the response, but it turns out the solution is:
Quit InDesign and any other CS apps.
First, delete the opm.db file located in /Users/"your user name"/Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE/opm.db, and then start InDesign and try signing in to the panel.
Why that has taken Adobe support, four phone calls, and unhelpful advice, plus a link to a help article that I had to go through several links to find the answer to, I don't know.
It would help if the "DPS" support team were better trained, and rather than sendind emails with links to articles on them, had s stock number of troubleshooting steps to try I don't know.
I was advised to create a whole new user account, uninstall InDesign, and reinstall it on that user account to see if that solved the problem, but fortunately this simple fix cured it in my standard user account.
I have learned in a very painful and stressful way, that a lot of the information on the support forums is not up to date, and relates to CS5 and CS5.5, and that Adobe expect you to do a lot of the research into problems yourself, as they often don't know the cure. I know that DPS is very complex - but all the more reason to invest in better trained support staff.

  • Folio Builder panel question

I can't see my old folios, that were created a year ago on the Folio Builder panel.
Also I do not see "Show All" folios option on this panel.
What I can do to fix the problem?
    Thanks,
    KK

    Bob,
The fact is that I can see my folios in Folio Producer and I do not have two different Adobe accounts.
My problem is that I can't see these folios (except the recent one, see above) in the Folio Builder panel.
If I need to make any editing to the articles, how do I handle it if I can't see and update Article in the Folio Builder?
If anything can't be done, I will recreate these folios under different names.
We (Georgia Tech) are moving towards Enterprise Edition, and plan to publish our earlier created folios. But we may need to edit them before publishing.
    Thanks,
    KK

  • Folio Builder panel in CS6 and CC (says update required) - can't install update (no Admin rights)

Hi. I've been running CS6 and the Folio Builder Panel keeps saying "DPS — A software update is required, go to the Help menu for Updates..." When I go to the Help section there are no updates. I recently moved to CC hoping the problem would fix itself but it hasn't. I downloaded the DPS Package update for both versions of the program — and I tried to install each one. Both give me error messages saying I don't have Admin rights. Adobe's tech support walked me through enabling Admin rights (although I should have had them already) and that didn't work.
Has anyone else had trouble installing the DPS update? I would like to actually use the DPS tools!
    Thanks

Hi Bob, I ended up having to uninstall CS6, then reinstall it — then for a separate Folio Builder log in issue, I followed another thread and removed the (Application Support/Adobe) OOBE folder. Functioning smoothly for now! Thanks for your suggestion.

  • I'm missing Folio Builder Panel in Indesign CC

I just downloaded InDesign CC, installed DPS tools but don't have Folio Overlays or Folio Builder panels under Windows in InDesign.  I am using inDesign CC on a MacBook Pro.  I have it all working in CS6 but not CC.  Is there something that I'm missing? bv

As far as I remember I had the same issue when i let an old version of CS6 on my computer (was a PC). I had to clean everything related to Adobe to then install all CC, and then that worked. Not surs that may be the same problem for Mac, but that was my experience.

  • UPDATE: Install new Folio Builder panel

The Folio Producer tools on the web were updated July 21. Please update your Folio Builder panel to make sure that it's in sync with the web client. The links for downloading the 1.1.2 update will appear on the main DPS installer pages:
    Mac OS: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=172&platform=Macintosh
    Windows: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=172&platform=Windows
Note that there is a difference between installing the new Folio Builder panel and updating the authoring tools. Whenever there is an update to the web client, you should update the Folio Builder panel. However, when the new version of the authoring tools (Overlay Creator panel and plugin) becomes available, you have a choice of updating the authoring tools or continuing to use an older release. For example, you may want to continue using an older set of authoring tools so that you can continue to work on folios for a custom viewer that you created, and you don't want to update that viewer app in the store every time a set release comes out.
The v14 authoring tools will be available later, when all the viewers are approved in the stores. The new version of the Viewer Builder app is scheduled for release early next week. You'll be able to specify languages and use in-app billing for Android viewers.
When you update your Folio Builder panel, you will be able to do the following:
    * Re-order articles in the Folio Builder panel by dragging and dropping
    * Unshare folios with individuals
    * Upload large articles (the limit increased from 100 MB to 2 GB)

    OK, I've done this.
To test what's happening for sure, I have uninstalled and re-installed time and time again, step by step. Here's what I get:
    1. install Digital Publishing Suite: I can sign in to Folio Builder
    2. install patch 1.0.1: I can sign in to Folio Builder
    3. install patch 1.1.1: I can sign in to Folio Builder
    4. install patch 1.1.2: I cannot sign in to Folio Builder
Here are the messages I get when I try to sign in with 1.1.2. It's always one or the other, at random.
On my Mac at home, I can sign in without problem. Could it be a firewall issue with the Windows computers at the office? If the sign-in system has changed, please tell me what Adobe has done so that I can communicate this to our IT support.
In the meantime, I have downgraded to 1.1.1 so that I can continue working with DPS.

  • Folio preview does not work!! since Mandatory Folio Builder Panel update!

    hi everyone
my grafic team told me that the folio preview in indesign does not work anymore since the required folio builder panel update!
working on mac and cs 5
    please help
    best regards michael

I just spoke with a member of our team and they were able to reproduce this issue: invoking folio preview from the file menu brings up an empty panel instead of launching the desktop preview tool. Thanks for bringing it to our attention! There are two ways you can work around this and get the desktop preview application up with your content:
    1) Use the preview button in the Folio Builder panel (this will preview the entire folio)
    2) Use the preview button in the Overlay Creator panel (this will preview the active InDesign document)
This problem only affects CS5 and CS5.5. If you are on CS6 the menu will work correctly.

  • Folio Builder panel is empty?

Hi, the various folios I have created within InDesign seem to have disappeared from the Folio Builder panel. I am signed in, paid up, restarted, re-opened and have updated all software. Anyone else had this problem? They ARE showing up in the SPS Folio Producer panel online. I have also created a new folio just to see, but the panel in InDesign is still empty, although that also shows up in the browser. Associated options from the little drop-down menu in the InDesign panel are also absent, as if I had no folios.
    Thanks,
    David

I'll add that it's clearly a glitch. I don't have the option to create an article from an open document. However, quitting InDesign I get an altert saying that the folio builder is busy—as though I have managed to get it to do a task, despite no visual feedback of that in the panels...

  • Folio Builder panel crashing + other issues

    Hi,
I have been facing difficulties in updating any of my folio articles on the Folio Builder panel in Indesign CS6 this whole week. An article that contains of three spreads and a file size of around 60 mb takes up to an hour to update and most of the times the panel crashes straight after the upload is complete and hence the update don't go through. When the panel crashes I just see the panel with a blank space inside it, no folios and I can not sign out — I have to restart InDesign.
After several attempts, quitting InDesign and opening it up again, opening up the panel again and trying to update the article then [sometimes] it works – still very slow, but it doesn't crash and when it does, I have to do this over again.
And on Content Viewer, downloading the folio updates takes longer than usual. Again only this week.
My folios are on the cloud. My internet is pretty quick, DL 60 mb/s and UL 600 mb/s so there are certainly no problems with my internet connections. And all my DPS files are up to date. It usually takes maximum an hour to upload the whole folio, it took 8 hours yesterday.
    Thanks,
    Bilal

Uninstall and re-install the Digital Publishing Suite Tools for CS6. If that doesn't resolve the issue, un-install and re-install InDesign CS6.

  • Folio Builder Panel Sign in failed. Please try again.

  • Update new Folio Builder Panel but not the Folio Producer Tools?

    Hi Guys
I was prompted to update the Builder Panel so I have done this now. I have read some older posts from last week about the new producer tools with new interactivity inside MSOs.
Is everybody still having problems with this update or has the bug been fixed now?
I'm not on such a tight deadline but I don't want any problems! Should I hold fire on updating the Producer tools?
    Cheers
    Gemma

You can update the viewer builder panel independent from producer tools.
So you can stay on version 17 of the tools but you need the current folio
    builder panel.

  • After update Folio Builder Panel 1.1.3. articles keep on loading

    Hi all,
After updating the Folio Builder Panel as requested (by the panel it self), we are unable to acces any articles. A loading icon keeps on animating and the article-folders stay grey. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Looking forward hearing from you.
    Regards,
    Remco van den Hout

The good news, your'e not alone. The bad news... Adobe doesn't really have a fix at this point.
It's a problem where the DPS thinks you are trying to update those articles, and they don't ever get reset to a state of "updated". The only fix I was able to do, unfortunately, was to trash the folios and reupload the whole thing again. It's unclear at this time where the problem was introduced so it might take a while for a fix.
It was a major pain to have to do this stuff over again – but I know that the issue has been documented and they are looking into it.
I recommend you make a sidecar.xml file with all the folio descriptive copy. This way, if you have to do this process another time, you can import the sidecar file and it will populate all of your articles again a lot faster. You might have to still adjust the order in a few cases... but it works pretty well. Info on that here:

  • May 2nd, requires a mandatory update of the folio builder panel question

Does this update require another update for the Adobe content viewer on iPAD and will have to be approved from Apple again?

    Bob are you trolling me?
You keep repeating the same mantra and ignoring the basic components of my questions, which could be answered in the context of other versions, if it were really a problem to talk about CS6 (it isn't - see below). For example you could say "In CS5.5, when Help > Updates doesn't update the panel, it means you need to install _______ OR it means these files ______ are corrupted. Delete them and try again." Those might not make any sense because I don't know what the actual answer is, but hopefully you get the idea.
By "Builder panel: I mean the Folio Builder panel. Located at the bottom of the stack in the Digital Publishing workspace. AFAIK there isn't another panel that uses the name "builder" (?) so I assumed people would understand what I meant. It is this panel that integrates people's InDesign content into the DPS workflow, is it not? This is where people "experiment" with DPS formatting of documents, based on the tutorials I've seen. Maybe I'm confusing it with something else that has to be installed separately.
    My final words on CS6:
CS 6 is not shipping but it IS available (legitimately) to some people and there is no longer an NDA for those people. Perhaps you're under a special embargo not related to the ones that partners and pre-release people had (which were all lifted on the 23rd according to Adobe's own announcements for those people). Other examples that demonstrate there is no limitation about discussing CS6 in the context of DPS:
This week this was posted here.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS67cb9e293e2f1f60-21ba9a4512e5e5e0b8d-7 ffe.html
It talks in part, about DPS in the context of CS6...

It also talks about DPS in the context of CS6...
...if there were an embargo on discussing CS6 in the context of DPS those documents would not be live. Simple as that.
    All that being said:
Are you saying the updated Builder Panel being talked about in this and other threads, is not related to CS6? Tangent to that: when people say "Folio Producer Tools", is the Builder Panel (any version of InDesign) a part of those tools? I'm sorry with all these questions. I've done some homework (reading the product literature, watching tutorials and webcasts) and I am ready to dive in and get to other topics (related to producing content / testing content) but I am stuck at a point where it appears I can't do anything.
