Help with Large Flat Hierarchies

I'm building a cube with 7 dimensions. 4 are sparse and 3 of those are large and flat (2-4 levels deep) Member Counts: 3K,9K,12K in those. Performance is not good to say the least. Playing with hash table options - any other advice?

Performance in the calc or retrievals or both? Please provide more information.

  • Help with larger sized voice wlan.... design considerations.... tips...etc...

    Hi Everyone,
         I'm hoping that you guys and gals can help me with an ongoing problem that we have at one of our sites. We're working on areas of the location due to it's size and phone load. We have an area, that I will refer to as building A, that is roughly a square that is 240' x 240'. The inside of the building has some pallets inside for storage(they allow RF to penetrate through them) and also some metal production lines. There is also a mezzanine  / elevated area in the middle that the users can walk under. It's not very large, but it would affect a phone if you walked underneath it while making a call. So, now that I have a brief description of the environment, I will tell you the equipment I'm running...
    1 x 4402 50AP Wireless Controller with 6.0.199.3 (MR3) installed.
    We currently have nine AP's installed in this area, with 4 up front so that way they cover the office areas better. Most are 1231G's, but some are 1242's.
    Since we do not have A radios everywhere (budgetary decision) we are running all of these phones on 2.4Ghz (Yikes! I know!)
    The 7920's use LEAP and the 7921's use PEAP MS-CHAP v2 with CCKM enabled on the controller.
    I also have 802.1p wired QoS enabled for the voice QoS profile and it is applied to our voice WLAN.
    We have conference rooms in the front area that will need to support roughly 20-30 maximum mixed 7920 and 7921G phones in a roughly small area. (Yikes! I know!)
    We also have a 2106 with mesh .54M installed, but it is for outdoor AP's and should not be affecting this area.
    So, I guess my questions are....
    Has anyone ever operated the 7920 and 7921G's in mixed mode?
    I'm thinking about separating the 7920s on 2.4 and tell the 7921's to prefer the A band or just use A. This will require A radios / surgery, but we've dealt with different code trains, TAC configs, and even added a few more radios. I think it's time to say we need to redesign this area. It doesn't help that phones keep getting purchased either....
    What rule of thumb would you guys / gals say would be appropriate for this phone count in terms of the number of AP's I should use?
    Since we're dealing with two different phone models, it makes it hard to simply just read the deployment guide. I know these phones can coexist, I just think we're running into over capacity and problems with 802.11B in the mix. In the conf room right now, there are most likely signals from at least two AP's. This doesn't seem like enough bandwidth for just the 2.4 Ghz range when 20 - 30 phones are in there. Not all of them are calling, but the associations / mgmt traffic alone must be horrendous since the phones are 802.11B
    We are going to do a manual survey with a 1242 since that AP will support both phone models. I think we may need to survey twice if we're going to go this route; One survey for the 7920's on 2.4Ghz with a 1242AG and one survey on 5Ghz with a 7921G. I think that will provide the info we need to get the AP's repositioned where they need to be.
    What kind of power levels should I be using in an area like that? We've originally had a survey at 50mW, but since then we turned the power down to pwr lvl 3 in some spots due to the additional AP's. I've seen references of roughly 1 AP per 3000 sq. ft at pwr level 4, but that seems overkill.
    Can we run mixed power levels on AP's with the phones? Or will that cause one way audio due to the transmit power diffrences in the cells?
    I'm thinking that we should pick a power level, survey the -67 cell size at the power level, add more AP's so that way they are overlapped 15-20%, and then actually implement the design. I'm pretty good at getting decent channel assignments in place. I know of non-overlapping channels, RRM, etc. I also have an AirMagnet laptop with an Aironet Adapter. It is good for finding noise, interference, etc...
    I understand this is practically a book, but at this point, we've been trying a LOT of different things in order to get this to work properly. I think it's finally time for me to "strongly suggest" that we do the following...
    1. Choose ONE phone model.
    2. Choose ONE AP model.
    3. Make sure to implement the 5Ghz band for all AP's so we have complete coverage.
    4. Choose ONE power level for each band. This will affect the coverage and placement of AP's. I'd imagine that we'd need to survey with A first, and then survey with b/g. Typically we can use the 1242 and get about the same cell size on both bands, but 5Ghz is a higher frequency and may not penetrate as much as 2.4 Ghz..
    5. Come up with a new coverage map based on a manual site survey with the phones mentioned above.
    6. Implement the design.
    7. Use it.
    8. Try not to have a heart attack when the system actually supports that many phones in that area...
    So, please, let me know your thoughts and if you have any suggestions. It would be greatly appreciated. We've been slowly working out the gremlins in the phones there over the past few years. I'm more of a data wireless person myself, but I do have good luck with a low to moderate phone count (usually no more than 7 calls per AP). Once we start doing craziness like trying to get 20-30 802.11B phones to work in the same area on only one or two AP's, then things start to become a challenge, especially when we don't have the 5Ghz cells to help with the bandwidth requirements for voice....
    Thank you for your time,
    Craig

    There's a pretty recent (last few months) Voice over Wlan design guide published (was published for the 9971 phones - but all great advice) and it recommends just about all the settings required for an off the shelf wireless voice network.

  • Color printing help with large graphics Reader 11.0.3

    Good morning!  We recently upgraded to 11.0.3.  Windows 7 64-bit.  We've had issues printing large color graphics from Reader 11.
    For example, the PDF will have an intricate purple graphic with matching purple text blocks underneath.  Print preview shows correctly, but when printed the graphic prints brown instead of purple.  The purple text blocks print correctly.  This seems to happen sporadically, but seems to be with complex graphics.
    Documents from all other apps print OK and if we open this .pdf from Acrobat X Standard and export it to a .png file the colors print correctly.
    The graphic files come from a myriad of sources and customers and we don't have control over the way the documents are originally saved or what apps are used to create the artwork.
    Any idea why the graphics colors aren't printing and if there are settings we can adjust in Reader 11 so they will print correctly?
    We've tried:
    - Printing to several printers with different drivers and all yield the same results.  (Toshiba eStudio 3530c with PCL6 and PS drivers, Epson Artisan 835, HP OfficeJet 8600, Samsung CLX-6200x)
    - Adjusting the Overprint Preview settings under File -> Preferences and setting "Simulate Overprinting" under the Advanced button in the print preview window.
    - Selecting "Print As Image" under the Advanced button in the print preview window.
    - Adjusting the Document Color Options under File -> Preferences -> Accessibility.
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Fastest thing you can try: use Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement.
    If that doesn't work, you can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
    After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Help with large import to Lightroom

    I have about 15000 images in 100's of folders to import into Lightroom; tech assistance tells me I must import each folder one at a time; please tell me there is a faster way for such a large import.  Thanks in advance, Mirlie

    I beg your pardon.  You are absolutely right (as, I am sure you had no doubt).  I was clicking choose instead of import all photos in selected folders; as a matter of fact until I just read you response I had not ever seen the option of "import all photos in selected folders".  Again so sorry to have indicated your solution was wrong.  It amazes me that I have spent hours on the phone with Adobe LR tech support and they continued to read from their scripts that I needed to import each folder individually.  You have saved me many hours and stiff shoulder muscles.  I now know where to come for help.  Have a great evening.  Thanks so much.

  • Help with large document please.

    I'm using a MacPro 2 x 2.26 Xeon/6GB RAM/Radeon graphics card. For the 6th year I'm producing an A4 product catalogue for a client with mostly full page photographs on every page. This year it will have grown to 400 pages. I'm half way through and already the file is becoming a bit unwieldy with daily crashes and slow to load. Does anybody know if increasing the RAM would help or should I try to split the catalogue into smaller chunks and then join them up into a book. That's not something I've tried before so am not sure about the drawbacks.  The client does have a habit of changing the page order quite a bit which might be a bit of a problem if I have to move between the smaller documents. Or am I wrong?
    Any advice most welcome.

    Thanks for your comments Peter. I think I'm at a stage where I can easily split a duplicate file into 10 or maybe 11 documents but I will need to reference 5 or 6 words on each page for the index. Hopefully that won't tax the system too much!

  • Help with large counters

    Hi,
    As part of an EEM script I am collecting the bytes downloaded on my WAN interface, formatting it and using it to create a banner with the monthly usage. The numbers get quite large and I am getting the following message:
    %HA_EM-6-FMPD_OPERAND_INVALID: Invalid operand in action, expected value within range -2147483648 to 2147483647, received: 4824555627
    Is there anyway around this?
    Ryan

    Hi Ryan,
    I don't know it it's recommendable, but if you really want to do calculations with such large numbers, you could use floating-point values instead of integers:
    R1(tcl)#set x 4824555627
    4824555627
    R1(tcl)#puts [expr $x]
    integer value too large to represent
    R1(tcl)#puts [expr [format "%.1f" $x]]
    4824555627.0
    R1(tcl)#puts [expr [format "%.1f" $x] * 10]
    48245556270.0
    Perhaps you should wait a while for other answers or a confirmation as I'm not very experienced with TCL.

  • Help with large file copy to WKS

    I need to copy a folder and all of it's contents from
    \apps\reallybigfolder to each workstation at c:\putithere.
    Because of the size of the file copy, I chose to create an app object
    with logic that says if xxx.exe exists then do not push. Basically, I
    don't want this thing to just run constantly. I need it to run one time
    to each workstation on the network when the users log in.
    I have tried pointing the app object to \public\ncopy.exe and then
    setting the parameters the way I want them, but I keep getting an
    error: "Cannot load VDM IPX/SPX Support". The two files in the folder
    are copied, but the subfolders are not. I have tried using the /s/e
    switches, but it does not help.
    I have also tried writing a .bat file, to test it - but I get the same
    results as above. So next I tried using copy instead of ncopy. I do not
    get the error message, but it still does not copy any of the subfolders.
    Is there another way? An easier way? I really appreciate the help.
    Tony

    What you are doing should work.
    It sounds as if there are some other workstation issues going on.
    I don't think I seen or could make the error "Cannot load VDM IPX/SPX
    Support" happen if I tried. Perhaps this would happen w/o a Novell
    Client installed. In such a case you could use XCOPY or ROBOCOPY.
    (Robocopy is way cooler than XPCOPY and is free from MS.)
    You can also use the "Distribution Tab" and the "Files" section to copy
    entire directories. Just use *.* as the source.

  • Need Help With Large SATA Stripe & 1.3/1.9 Bios please

     I recently changed my 2X 75GB 10.000RPM WD Rapters for 2X 300GB 7200RPM WD regular SATA HD's and flashed from 1.3 bios to 1.9 bios.
    I created a RAID 0 stripe in the RAID bios and proceeded to install XP. However, after formatting the striped drives and reeboting, I get an error message. Basically the array is not sticking. In addition, I noticed that the 2 drives are on the same channel (0) instead of (0+1) if that makes sense? I flashed back to 1.3 bios and everything went through fisrt time.
    I also noticed that my machine is MUCH slower using the 2 300GB HD's. For example... when right clicking on a download link, the explorer file/folder box takes ages to pop up? Before it was instantanious. I'm sure the new 7200RPM HD's are not that much slower? The machine seems to pause quite a lot, especially when maximising windows etc.
    I would also like to update my bios again, now that I'm up and running again. However, there are several new options in the 1.9 bios that I have not seen before. Would someone be able to point me in the direction of an up-to-date bios guide? Also, will a bios flash cure my problems?
    Also do I really need to upgrade my bios from 1.3 to whatever? I have been really happy with 1.3 for over a year, however, my K8N Neo Plat 2 does not seem to like my new large SATA drives on RAID 0 for some reason.

    Hi ,
    Do u suggest to use the calculate Hash for char with MD5 algorithm or SH1 ,or there is other recommended scenario  i that take the performance side in the picture too since the performance side is very impotent to my design .
    or there is other ideas/ recommendation to my design?

  • Horizontal scrolling. Help with large images.

    Putting together a .pdf publication for iPad.
    I have content that fits a standard iPad format BUT I also have these very long timelines (170cm x 21 cm). These need to be displayed zoomed in -  with the reader swiping right to accessing the remainder of the content. So a horizontal scroll! Whenever I test it on the iPad it display the full image (so zoomed out and tiny). The other images are displaying fine.
    So how do I make sure I view them as I require?
    Thanks!

    I also need this feature, to view and mark up street plans that are long narrow landscape format pages with "match lines" at the left and right sides.  What I want is similar to Acrobat's existing "Enable Scrolling" -- but in the horizontal direction.  Planners need this for road and path plans.  Musicians and composers need this for viewing multi-page sheet music so they can browse the entire "timeline" of the piece.  And as the OP notes, schedule planners need this for reviewing timelines such as Gantt charts.
    Adobe, please add this feature.  I'll gladly pay for an upgrade (currently using Acrobat Pro XI Mac).

  • Please help with TV and home theater system for very large basement room....

    I'm looking to get my boyfriend either a TV or home theater system for the basement.  I know he eventually wants a 3d TV.  Right now he has a set up where he has 2 tv's so he can play video games and watch sports.
    The basement that the tv and home theater system will be in is large (I'd estimate at least 15 ft x 30 ft...maybe more) so I want to make sure the home theater system will be enough for the room.  We live in a ranch so basically the basement is almost the size of the house with some of it being storage.
    I've started to look at products online but there are so many and technology isn't really my thing.
    If anyone could help with recommendations for the home theater system and/or the tv I'd appreciate it!
    Thanks so so sooo much!!!!

    What will he be using the HT system for?  Just watching sports or skipping the movie theater and watching them at home.   If you plan to watch them at home your going to be on a tight budget with the home theater system but it is possible.   Spend good money on the sub, that is one speaker you don't want to skimp out on.  With such a big space you have a lot of room to fill and the cheap subs aren't going to cut it.   You will probably need two subs as it is.  The speakers I recommend on a tight budget Polk or Klipsch.  My list includes a Denon receiver as I am a Denon fan but Yamaha, Onkyo, or Pioneer will suffice.
    Here is a Option 1 will run you about 1700 with just one sub. You could always go up a model on each speaker if you feel the one sub is enough.  I like an explosion sounding like it happened in front of me so that is why I mention 2 subs.

  • A help with a hierarchical query

    I've got two tables:
    FOLDERS where relevant fields are: folderId, parentFolderId, folderQuota
    and DOCUMENTS where the relevant fields are: folderId, size
    FOLDERS is hierarchical - parentFolderId of a child's folder is set to folderId of the parent
    folderQuota is nullable (quota not set)
    Now, I need to execute a query with the following recursive logic
    <i>function calcQuota (folderIdpar, isFirstpar) {
    if (not isFirstpar) and (folderQuota of folder with folderIdpar is not null) return folderQuota;
    return size of all documents where folderId = folderIdpar + calcQuota (folderId of all children, false);
    }</i>
    (I hope the pseudocode is understandable - the query is executed as <i>calcQuota(originalFolderId, true)</i>).
    Now, my question is if I can achieve it with a single hierarchical query, or if I have to implement it as a recursive stored procedure.
    Thanks!
    P.S. I'm using Oracle XE (10g)

    OK,
    I will need to create it (in real life it is created by an application), so I hope I will make it correct. If not, it should be easy to fix.
    create table folders (
    folder_id number primary key
    parent_folder_id number,
    quota number
    create table documents (
    document_id number primary key
    folder_id number,
    size number
    INSERT INTO folders (folder_id, quota) VALUES (1, 1);
    INSERT INTO folders (folder_id, parent_folder_id, quota) VALUES (2, 1, 2);
    INSERT INTO folders (folder_id, parent_folder_id) VALUES (3, 1);
    INSERT INTO folders (folder_id, parent_folder_id, quota) VALUES (4, 2, 4);
    INSERT INTO folders (folder_id, parent_folder_id) VALUES (5, 2);
    INSERT INTO folders (folder_id, parent_folder_id, quota) VALUES (6, 3, 8);
    INSERT INTO folders (folder_id, parent_folder_id) VALUES (7, 3);
    INSERT INTO documents (document_id, folder_id, size) VALUES (1, 1, 16);
    INSERT INTO documents (document_id, folder_id, size) VALUES (2, 2, 32);
    INSERT INTO documents (document_id, folder_id, size) VALUES (3, 3, 64);
    INSERT INTO documents (document_id, folder_id, size) VALUES (4, 3, 128);
    INSERT INTO documents (document_id, folder_id, size) VALUES (5, 4, 256);
    INSERT INTO documents (document_id, folder_id, size) VALUES (6, 5, 512);
    INSERT INTO documents (document_id, folder_id, size) VALUES (7, 6, 1024);
    INSERT INTO documents (document_id, folder_id, size) VALUES (8, 7, 2048);
    running the query for folder_id = 1 should return 1 + 2 + 64 + 128 + 8 + 2048 = 2251
    running the query for folder_id = 2 should return 4 + 512 = 516
    I have decided for this data, because it allows to track what values (folder.quota or document.size) is included in the result.
    (it is the knapsack problem - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knapsack_problem)
    P.S. I'm leaving for three weeks, so I will come back after that.

  • How to connect three pieces together -macbook - large flat screen - tablet

    What is the best way to connect the following?
    Mac Book Pro
    Large FLat Display
    Wacom cintiq tablet
    Can I have flat display and wacom table at same time?
    Any tip?

    Thank you A Brody,
    This is all very helpful to a guy like me.
    I guess the first thing I'll have to do is get an ethernet cable. Presumably, the FireWire cable will not be needed now. Correct?
    The same questions still seem to apply. I did print out the "Connecting two computers using Ethernet" that you forwarded to me.
    1) But, do I power up both computers before installing Ethernet cable?
    2) After following instructions on the"Connecting two computers....." will an icon appear for the old Power Mac?
    3) After hooking up the Ethernet cable, do I have to re-boot, use the "T" key, to get into the old Power Mac?
    4) After fiddling around on the old Power Mac, how do I get out of there and back onto my i.Mac?
    5) Or, because it would be hooked up via Ethernet, could I simply go back and forth between the two computers?
    By the way, after checking out your info on how to identify my old Power Mac, this is the info I've been able to glean, I think:
    The old Power Mac is:
    • A Power Mac G4 (PCI Graphics)........and therefore, it says, not able to serve as a target computer backup with my i.Mac
    • Apparently made in 1999
    • System, apparently, is OS 8.6 (my i.Mac is OS X 10.3.9...Panther)
    • Model number either M7631 or M7826 (can't find it on the computer)
    • Memory: PC 100 SDRAM, up to 1 GB (don't know how much it has now)
    • I have no idea how much storage is available (i.e. my i.Mac is 74.5 GB (I think)
    Thanking you again

  • Help with launchpad organization

    I want to use the Launchpad to organize my applications while leaving the Applications folder untouched (a large flat list of stuff since experience taught me that trying to organize programs there in subfolders might lead to problems with some applications and their update procedures).
    I ran the command to reset the launchpad to a blank state since it had 8 pages with doubles etc. :-)
    I am now dragging applications I want there from the Applications folder (or subfolders) to the Launchpad icon on the dock. Two questions if I may:
    a) is there a way to have a larger target when dropping the applications ? the icon on the dock is small for an old curmudgeon like me :-)
    b) for some reason most applications I drop there end up on page TWO of the launchpad while others go on the first page. Is there a reason and can this be avoided ? FWIW the first page is still almost totally empty.
    c) Is there a way to select multiple icons in the Launchpad and drag them all at once on another icon / page ?
    Thank you very much

    I can at least give you a work around for your third question. To move more than one icon to a different page you can 'lump' all the icons you want to move into a folder, then move the folder to the desired page, then remove the icons from the folder. To create a folder drag one icon on top of a second icon, wait, and a folder will be created. To remove icons from the folder, open the folder then drag the icon above the folder.
    Hope this helps!

  • SQL Adapter Crashes with large XML set returned by SQL stored procedure

    Hello everyone. I'm running BizTalk Server 2009 32 bit on Windows Server 2008 R2 with 8 GB of memory.
    I have a Receive Port with the Transport Type being SQL and the Receive Pipeline being XML Receive.
    I have a Send Port which processes the XML from this Receive Port and creates an HIPAA 834 file.
    Once a large file is created (approximately 1.6 GB in XML format, 32 MB in EDI form), a second file 1.7 GB fails to create.
    I get the following error in the Event Viewer:
    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: BizTalk Server 2009
    Event Category: (1)
    Event ID: 5740
    Date:  10/28/2014
    Time:  7:15:31 PM
    User:  N/A
    The adapter "SQL" raised an error message. Details "HRESULT="0x80004005" Description="Unspecified error"
    Is there a way to change some BizTalk server settings to help in the processing of this large XML set without the SQL adapter crashing?
    Paul

    Could you check Sql Profiler to trace or determine if you are facing deadlock?
    Is your Adapter running under 64 bits?
    Have you studied the possibility of using SqlBulkInser Adapter?
