I can't download anything because of payment information when the app is free I want to remove it

When ever I want to download a free app it asks me to enter a payment information to complete payment, this was not doing this before. I want to completely remove my payment information but I don't know where the NONE option is in payment information in settings. I'm really mad  because I'm not being able to play the games that I want not download or update! ***

Hi Keith Boutte,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.

  • I deleted the applications on my 2nd gen iPod accidentally, now I can't download anything because everything's updated and the newest software isn't available for 2nd gen iPods?! What's the point of buying apple devices then?? They're meant to last long.

So basically, am I now suppose to throw the device away??
I was really disappointed in Apple when I found out that 1st and 2nd generation iPods cannot be updated. So my device is pointless now?
Or is there any kind of solution?

Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.
Your iPod still plays music, gets and sends mail, surfs the web and does other things. to. It is old by electronics standards.

  • The last apple ID used on my App Store is stuck how do I change back to my apple ID? I can't download anything because its not asking for my apple ID and password, help?

help, the last apple ID used to download in my ipad2 is stuck, I can't download anything because its not asking for my apple ID and password, how do I change it back to mine?

Again, this only affects you if someone *redownloaded* content with a different ID. In my case, I emailed iTunes Store support, explained the situation, and they reset the counter.  I recommend you try the same
If you read discussion boards, this is a significant change from a year ago, when Apple told people in the same situation to go f&$# themselves.  Clearly it's dawning on them that this is a stupid policy, and my guess is if people keep complaining they'll change it to something more reasonable.  Remember, it wasn't that long ago you couldn't re-download content at all.
Apple can't really afford to play hardball on this. Sure, the hardcore fanboys will always say "Thank you sir, may I have another" whatever Apple throws at them,  but the rest of us will just switch to Amazon, which has none of these restrictions.

  • How can i download  OS X Lion 10.7 without the app store?

ow can i download  OS X Lion 10.7 without the app store ?

You don't. For a while, Apple sold 10.7 usb sticks, but they don't now. See if you can find one of them lying around. Otherwise, the mac app store is your only option. (P.S. To even get 10.7, you have to call Apple at 1-800-MY-APPLE and buy a download code. Lion is not availible on the app store without a code).

  • Verify my payment even though the app is free ?

Why does apple keep asking to verify my payment even though the app is free and every time I'm verifying my payment info it keep saying declined even though all the information I have given them is correct?!? Please help me!!!

Hit the issue too and the following fixed it for me.
Settings->iTunes & App Store->apple ID->view apple ID->payment->re-enter all the credit card information especially the credit card number.
My guess is that after upgrading the stored credit card number gets messed up although it *looks* like it's still stored ok (e.g. still displaying the correct last 4 digits when the error happened and only asking for security code).
    Hope this help!

  • I'm trying to download a FREE app on my iphone4s and the billing information thing keeps popping up. It wasn't doing that yesterday. What should I do? Idk why I need that info when the app is free

I'm trying to download a FREE app and the billing info thing keeps popping up. It wasn't doing that yesterday. Now I can't even download anything. What should I do ? Idk why I need thus info when the app is free

You must have a payment method in your iTunes account, even for free content. It is used to verify your identity. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534 for information on how to create a billing method if you don't have a credit card.

  • I can't download Lion from my past purchases in the App Store

I click the "Download" button; I'm prompted that I already have Lion installed. I click "Continue" and the "Download" button greys out for a few seconds, then becomes active again. Nothing else happens.
I need to do a reinstall because my laptop is running really slow and hot.
(This is the lastest OS my old Macbook Pro will run; my laptop can't run Mountain Lion).

Reinstalling is a last resort solution.
Things You Can Do To Resolve Slow Downs
If your computer seems to be running slower here are some things you can do:
    Start with visits to:     OS X Maintenance - MacAttorney;
                                      The X Lab: The X-FAQs;
                                      The Safe Mac » Mac Performance Guide;
                                      The Safe Mac » The myth of the dirty Mac;
                                      Mac maintenance Quick Assist.
Boot into Safe Mode then repair your hard drive and permissions:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions Pre-Lion
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    Repair the Hard Drive - Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilites Menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD disk icon and click on the arrow button below.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. If no errors are reported, then click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Restart your computer normally and see if this has helped any. Next do some maintenance:
For situations Disk Utility cannot handle the best third-party utility is Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible.
Note: Alsoft ships DW on a bootable DVD that will startup Macs running Snow Leopard or earlier. It cannot start Macs that came with Lion or later pre-installed, however, DW will work on those models.
    Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts was significantly reduced since Tiger.  These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard or later and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive.
    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Protection
An excellent link to read is Tom Reed's Mac Malware Guide.
Also, visit The XLab FAQs and read Detecting and avoiding malware and spyware.
    See these Apple articles:
Mac OS X Snow Leopard and malware detection
OS X Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
OS X Mountain Lion- Protect your Mac from malware
About file quarantine in OS X
If you require anti-virus protection I recommend using VirusBarrier Express 1.1.6 or Dr.Web Light both from the App Store. They're both free, and since they're from the App Store, they won't destabilize the system. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for these recommendations.)
    Troubleshooting Applications
I recommend downloading a utility such as TinkerTool System, OnyX, Mavericks Cache Cleaner, or Cocktail that you can use for removing old log files and archives, clearing caches, etc. Corrupted cache, log, or temporary files can cause application or OS X crashes as well as kernel panics.
If you have Snow Leopard or Leopard, then for similar repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the command line.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard. Applejack does not work with Lion and later.
    Basic Backup
For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components:
    1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences;
    2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is
used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine
requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the
        drive being backed up.
Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
      1. Carbon Copy Cloner
      2. Get Backup
      3. Deja Vu
      4. SuperDuper!
      5. Synk Pro
      6. Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore.  Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files. For help with using Time Machine visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine.
Referenced software can be found at MacUpdate.
    Additional Hints
Be sure you have an adequate amount of RAM installed for the number of applications you run concurrently. Be sure you leave a minimum of 10% of the hard drive's capacity as free space.
Add more RAM. If your computer has less than 2 GBs of RAM and you are using OS X Leopard or later, then you can do with more RAM. Snow Leopard and Lion work much better with 4 GBs of RAM than their system minimums. The more concurrent applications you tend to use the more RAM you should have.
Always maintain at least 15 GBs or 10% of your hard drive's capacity as free space, whichever is greater. OS X is frequently accessing your hard drive, so providing adequate free space will keep things from slowing down.
Check for applications that may be hogging the CPU:
    Pre-Mavericks
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
    Mavericks and later
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the View menu.  Click on the CPU tab in the toolbar.
Often this problem occurs because of a corrupted cache or preferences file or an attempt to write to a corrupted log file.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is
                    three times faster than wireless.

  • I had to restore my computer. All my music is on my iphone. Can I import it back to itunes? When I look to sync, it want to remove anything on the iphone

I had to restore my computer(windows). All my music is on my iphone and ipod. Can I back this into itunes? When I try to sync, it wants to erase data on the ipone or ipod.

Certainly you did not restore your computer without making sure that your backup copy of your computer was up to date.
Just use your backup copy to put everything back.
The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases

  • What the hell i can not download anything because of my adobe reader

this is what it keeps showing me no matter what i download, what the hell is going on?(Adobe Reader could not open ').exe' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). I am going right thru the website trying to download this ???????????????????????????? I am running a mac os x 10.5 pc & adobe reader 9  I have no idea what i am doing wrong someone anyone please HELP

Probably you need to check your file associations. Probably mistakenly .exe file is associated with Adobe Reader which is meant to open only PDF files and not an .exe. Thus when you download an .exe, due to its association to Adobe Reader, it tries to open it and throws that message. Just search on the net and you will find how to change file associations on MAC.

  • Can't download anything, and my payment keeps being declined what do I do?

what it says above and I've been trying for hours.

What are you trying to use as your payment method ? If it's a debit card then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method in all countries - from this page :
You may be able to use other payment types in your country, like debit and Maestro cards.
which implies that they are not accepted in all countries, and there have been a number of posts about them being declined. Pre-paid cards are also unlikely to work.
For a card to have a chance of being accepted it needs to be registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are. If your card is then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes support and see if they know why it's being declined (but if it's a debit card then you might notbe able to use it) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Account Management

  • Everytime I go to download an app it asks me to update my payment method, and even if there's money it will come back payment declined. Even when the app is free - I'm starting to have issues

I dont know how to fix whatever is happening, it use to work fine

Either add a payment method that iTunes accept or contact iTunes about using the method that you think is valid.
Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us
