Import translations

Hello!
I created page group (default language Polish) which is quite complex. I had exported and imported it many times and everything was ok. Then I added English translations and exported page group. After import on clients portal there wasn't any translated elements. In log, in "Modify system tables" section I found warnings:
[Warning: ] context = wwutl_api_import_pronto.import_nls_strings user = PORTAL Unable to insert NLS string 10029911
Of course on both portals (10.1.0.4) Polish and English languages are installed.
What should I do or what am I doing wrong?
Piotr

Piotr,
It looks as you lost the translation... eventually. To better know what has happened I'd suggest you to contact the Oracle Support.
[Warning: ] context = wwutl_api_import_pronto.import_nls_strings user = PORTAL Unable to insert NLS string 10029911
The ID should be exactly what you've lost. It is a warning, 'cause you haven't lost the default functionality.
Maybe... as a wild guess... have you enabled the language polish on the Shared Objects Page Group? You might have created some things/objects in the Shared Objects Page Group and enabled the polish language (in the Source Portal) and in the Target Portal you haven't done the same. As I've said... the best would be to contact the Oracle Support... for further diagnostics.
I hope it helps...
Cheers,
Pedro.

Can anyone tell me if English language annotations on diagrammatic drawings can be 'tagged' or coded in some way so that when they are translated into their foreign language equivalents they will automatically re-import or update to replace the original English language annotations? I am using Illustrator CS2 in Mac OS 10.4.

    RodWard,
Thanks for your input on this - strangely enough, after about my 6th time trying the exact same process ... it worked! Not sure what the glitch was here but I am happy it worked itself out and appreciate your help too!

  • Problem importing translated .inx back into original indesign CS4

I have translated an INX export from CS4 in Trados 8, and now it is not possible to import the target INX in CS4 again. I have done this many times before and it never presented a problem like this, the target INX files always opened ok in CS4 again. When I try to import there is no error message, the import stops and stalls after a while when trying to import a link file, it never gets any further and I have to kill the indesign service. I have tried to redo the indesign completely copying text and images into a blank indesign file, retranslate the new inx, and the only difference is that it stops at a different link when trying to import. Please help, I'm desperate, thanks.
    Br/Jesper

You might be out of luck. Trados writes directly into the INX, and if there's a tag that is not being closed correctly by Trados, InDesign can't read the INX. If your TMs are updated (sounds like they are) you can break the original INDD into parts, export those to INX separately, process those through Trados, and then try to reopen the INX files to see where the problem was, if it's a unique element on a particular page that Trados is breaking.
(I've not used the latest Trados, and I'm not too terribly familiar with any version of Trados to be honest, as I'm an SDLX guy from way, way back. You might have better luck with a Trados community as opposed to an InDesign community - have you already tried?)

  • Page Not Found ! Export/import translater app

    Hi,
I really need some help since we are supposed to go live today or tommorrow.
1- Can I open TARs for issues concerning HTMLDB ??
2- I have an application that is translated 105-2105
When I import 105 into another application ID, and try to run it , it gives me a page not found ??
    Thanks
    Francis.

    Hi Kirk,
    1. Do I understand correctly, you cannot export the application from the server you originally developed it on?
    Exact.
It does not work on same server when I change the appid
It does not work on my test server when I replace the same application
    2. What OS are you on?
    In dev : Windows 2K
    In test : Linux RedHat
    3. Is the workspace name the same from development to production?
    No
    4. Is the parssing Schema the same from development to production?
    No
    5. If you run the app as admin do you get the menu at the bottom of the page that displays the Page not found error?
    No
I am able to export/import all the other applications without problem.
The only difference is that the one that I cannot import/export is translated.

  • FYI - Importing Translated XML (XLIFF) into Captivate 5

I just want to make a point about an issue I've come across when translating a Captivate 5 project.
On exporting to XML - which is actually a mono-lingual XLIFF format in reality, this is where the problems start.
A true XLIFF file contains both source and target tags which is what happened to me when I used the file in a translation application.
On importing back into Captivate I couldn't see my translated text - the file was converted to a true XLIFF format (source and target tags).
So even thou the target had my translations Captivate was only concerned with the source tags!
I had to write a batch script then to change around the source/target tag content.
Hopefully this will help someone who's come across this in the future.
I think Adobe should include a target tag identifier on importing so the user can choose the language they want to import back in.
It just seems strange having translations inside a <source> </source> tag!
    My 2 cents anyway,
    Keith

    Hi everyone.
Is there any update and support in Adobe Captivate 8 of  XLIFF 2.0 ?
I have to write an interactive tutorial that I want to be able to offer for localization while updating the software itself.
That means I am looking for language updates. To volunteer translators I don't want to offer full re-writes of PO or XML files.
    Please advice.

  • Importing Translated Text Not Working - Help!

    Hello,
I'm creating a training module right now via Captivate. Part of the process is translating the module to Spanish, Chinese and Japanese. I've done this for several different modules in the same course and it all worked very smoothly. My process is: exporting the English Captions into a Word document, having a translator translate the document, and then importing them back in.
Again, I haven't encountered a problem in this process until now. For some reason, the Spanish captions will not import back in. Captivate says they are imported, but nothing changes. I try exporting again, changing things, importing - it's simply not reading any of the imports. I've already imported the Chinese captions in a different copy with no problems so I'm confused what the issue is here. Does anyone have any insight?

  • Import Translation Issues

Usually when I want to import a CD, its in English. If in a foreign language like Japanese, it will give me the little window option with at least 3 versions, one including an English translation and 2 of Chinese and so on of which English is the one I always choose. Usually when I choose the English version, all the songs/artisit/album names are translated into English format, making it easier for me to comprehend. Now when I try to do this process, it just downloads Japanese, skipping the album options window. I've attempted to search for the windows, but so far I've seen nothing to help, even when clicking on the link for "get track names" in the advanced. It acts like its searching then a milsecond later, stops its search. I put in the second CD to the named album, and it gave me the options window- which makes no sense to me! I thought maybe it was the album seeing as the scratches were noticeable, so I bought a new album and the same result occured. Much help is required and appreciated.

Rather than Import and change the info, BEFORE importing, select the CD, right click - get info and edit the fields so they are correct (exactly as shown on the CD cover).
Then iTunes menu Advanced > Submit CD track names.
    Then Import the CD.
It will have the info as you edited it.
Gracenote should update within a few days and if you insert that CD in any other computer, is should get the updated info. Or it should display the original that was there plus the updated info and give you a choice.

  • Import/translate .rpt file

    Post Author: f'lar
    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
I work for a medical billing company.  We take reports from our
clients, import them into our system, and then bill insurance or
patient as appropriate.  I'm a programmer who is responsible for
writing routines to parse the various formatted files from our
clients.  I have never used crystal reports.  We have two
clients that send us .rpt files. Of those two sets of .rpt files, one
set is human-readable if I open it in a text editor, so it's no big
deal.  The other I have no idea.  We have a windows 2000 machine that
we leave running all the time that was set up by a previous programmer
that converts the .rpt files to a usable format (I'll accept .txt,
.csv, .xls, .rtf, or .pdf, among others).  I'm not real happy with this
solution because if that machine dies we're up a creek, but this is the
way it's always been.  We can't get the program that runs on that
machine to work on any of our other machines (windows xp or server
    2003).
I've tried several things to open the .rpt files myself,
including several variety Visual Studio projects and (free or trial)
3rd party viewers.  The result is always that whatever application
tries to open the file hangs, and I have to kill the process.  I was
finally able to get a file to display something reasonable in Visual
Studio by creating a new report using one of my existing files as a
template.  But it's just the layout and formulas for the file rather
    than any actual data.
Eventually I had a breakthrough, where I got a dialog box asking
me for connection information for a sql server on the clients network.
I shouldn't need to use this connection, since all the data I care
about is in included in the files from the client.  I was able to avoid
the crashes by supplying real (but incorrect)  sql server connection
info.  At least then I could look at the design view in Visual Studio.Based
on that I on this I have a small program that attempts to load a file
with the template I made and export it to rtf.  Unfortunately, it's not
working.  First of all, it takes over a minute to load the file,  I
figure that is mostly waiting for a timeout from my incorrect database
(which I don't need).  In fact, each individual property access takes
that long.  When it's finally loaded when I try to export it will give me an error about parameters. I can
see the parameters in the design view, but I can't remove them because
of dependencies I don't know how to find. I worked up some code so that it will prompt me, but If I go ahead and enter
parameters manually (I will need this to be automated) it will eventually
just hang completely (I left it overnight with no progress) on
the ExportToDisk statement.Like I said earlier, I have not used Crystal Reports before.  I don't even know which version is used to create the .rpt files.  I would really appreciate any tips on how to convert these files into a usable format.  I get the feeling I'm going about this the hard way, and there must be something simple I can do to just tell the CR engine to use the file as the datasource. Some additional InformationI sometimes see this error message:Error in formula  <CompletedDate>. 'stringVar sDTTM := CStr({vusrPatientExamInfo.CompletedDTTM}, 'MM/dd/yyyy h:mm tt');'The remaining text does not appear to be part of the formula.I considered the possibility that the windows 2000 machine was set up to know how to connect to the client's database mentioned above, but I looked into that and this isn't the case.  We've been getting these reports from the client for a long time, and it's more likely I'm seeing an old version of crystal reports the the new system doesn't know how to use but the older version on windows 2000 works just fine.  Again, I know nothing so feel free to contradict that if you have a fresh insight. Thanks in advance, and wish me luck posting a question to any discussion board on a Friday evening

    CA Forum: Crystal Reports
I've been checking around google, trying some things, and I think I've made some progress.  I did some investigating on the win2000 machine's file system.  I'm pretty sure now these are version 8.5 files. Also, I was able to grab some .dlls from the machine (notably crxadrt.dll) and register them locally.  Adding a reference to that dll in a visual studio project and I was able to build this code:Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load        Dim a As New CRAXDRT.Application        Dim r As CRAXDRT.Report = a.OpenReport("C:\a.rpt")'        r.MorePrintEngineErrorMessages = False        r.EnableParameterPrompting = False'        r.ExportOptions.FormatType = CRAXDRT.CRExportFormatType.crEFTText '8        'r.ExportOptions.FormatType = CRAXDRT.CRExportFormatType.crEFTPortableDocFormat '31'        r.ExportOptions.DestinationType = CRAXDRT.CRExportDestinationType.crEDTDiskFile ' 1        r.ExportOptions.DiskFileName = "C:\a.txt"        'r.FormulaSyntax = CRAXDRT.CRFormulaSyntax.crBasicSyntaxFormula        r.FormulaSyntax = CRAXDRT.CRFormulaSyntax.crCrystalSyntaxFormula'        r.Export(False)End SubIn that code, "a.rpt" is an actual file I've copied locally and renamed to avoid having to type the long name so much.  You can also see that I've been playing with some of the options to see if anything helps.  It runs all the way up the last line ( r.Export(False) ) at which point I get a "COMException was unhandled" exception with this error message:"The remaining text does not appear to be part of the formula."The good news is that it runs nice and quick with no requests to access a database and without my bastardized template from the earlier scenario.  Also, it's consistent with the last piece of advice I got (a function referring to a missing dll).  So my question still stands- how do I find this mystery dll?  I've been looking around the windows 2000 machine and I can't find anything obvious.

  • How can I import/translate thunderbird filters into mail rules

The export function from iCloud creates one single .vcf file with all the addresses in it. If you click on it on the desktop, it starts displaying each and every address as a separate vCard. However, "Tools/Import...Address Books...vCard file" doesn't do anything.

  • Imoprt/Export Strings in Translation Builder not working

    Hi All,
I am new to Translation Builder.
There is a form which is referring many other forms, when I am importing strings of main form in translation builder, its not importing all prompts and only 25 out of 500 prompts. May be it is not importing prompts from other referring form.
Among above 25 prompts, I have imported translations from English to German (translation builder). But after exporting the translation and compiling the form in D folder, translated prompts are not visible in German language login.
I am following the below steps:
    1. Created DB connection
    2. Created New project
    3. Right click > import strings
    4. Base language 'AMERICAN', character set 'WE8ISO8859P1', version ='1' form=form from 'US' folder. (this form also refers other forms which are available under resource directory)
    5. Right click on .fmb > add translation > translation language 'German' & Trns. character set 'UTF8'
    6. RHS double click on GERMAN UTF8 > ok (here its not importing only very few prompts)
    7. Provided translations > save
    8. Click on version > export string and exported to d folder.
    9. Logged in with German language.
    Now translations are not coming.
Note: First time i am using translation builder.
Please let me know if I am missing any step or any set is required etc..
    Many thanks..
    Soniya.

That's odd. It worked for me when I tested it. Perhaps you should try moving the current xml file to a different folder, downloading a new version, copying and pasting, and rebuilding.

  • Font size changes between Export and Import

    Captivate v5.5
My office in Germany is translating existing project from English to German.
They export a slide from v5.5 to be translated (in Word)...make the required translation and then import it back into Captivate v5.5
Problem is the original font size when exported is Tahoma Regular 11 but when the translated document is imported it arrives back in Captivate as Tahoma Regular 10.
The font size during and after the translation is Tahoma Regular 11. The change to size 10 is happening during the import into Captivate v5.5
Any ideas why and how to make sure the font keeps the same size (11 in this case) when imported ?

  • Is there any way to export data from a calendar 5 instance to 6.3?

I've run into yet another issue with my migration from calendar 5 to 6.3.
It turns out that one of our satellite clinics has a very large amount of data stored on our older server. Right now we're having to put the migration on hold because there are several hundred events on the old server that are repeat events and/or events scheduled relatively far in the future. This issue, along with the possibility of double booking events/appointments while both servers are active, is a serious risk that could have detrimental effects on this site.
There are a few issues that I'm not certain how to handle in this case. First of all, the old server's database is stored in schema 1, and changes in the LDAP directory structure from cal 5 vs. 6.3 made it impossible to migrate the old database and accounts. The new server is schema 2. So migrating the whole directory, especially at this point, seems rather unlikely.
Is there any way that I can export data for specific accounts and calendars for the people at this site in a version-independent format and import it to the new server? If nothing else we can schedule somebody to come in on one of the weekends and manually copy the data, but if possible I'd like to avoid devoting somebody to that for the several hours that it would take to copy that by hand. Also, this would not be the preferred method due to the fact that human error could result in our clients being misscheduled, which would obviously be bad for business.
I'd appreciate any ideas anybody may have on this matter.
    Thanks in advance.

Actually I guess I was missing the obvious method of simply exporting to xml and importing on the new calendar. For some reason I thought that the exports were incompatible between versions as well.Hmm... whilst this may have worked on the face-of-it I do wonder whether everything has indeed been moved across and more importantly translated into the correct form e.g. access controls, uids => uids@domain format.
Is there anybody that can answer definitively whether or not any data will be lost by this procedure? There are simply too many variables involved in your proposed migration to provide any kind of 100% iron-clad guarantees. I would suggest you perform a thorough test migration of the data and then compare the ics/xml export from the ics5/6 systems to see if any of the data has changed. Also test to see whether access controls are still working (can a user who could previously edit another persons calendar on ics5 now do so with ics6).
Things to look out for are that meeting attendee information is kept, any 'fancy' characters (i.e. 8-bit characters) and formatting information is kept, the number of tasks/meetings is consistent between the two versions and so forth.

  • SAP XI and COM interface

The Import / Export Service has been developed by 3rd Party to allow you to programmatically load information into the 3rd Party Command Centre System. The service can be used to initialise new installations, and to synchronise data in an on-going basis with other applications within your organisation. The Import / Export Service is a licensable feature. Therefore, for this feature to work, your site must have the Import option turned on in their licence file.
The service consists of a Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) Automation interface, and a set of import / export plus data translation scripts. Data is imported into the system using the Extensible Markup Language (XML). While this is the sole format the system uses for data imports, translation scripts are provided to convert from comma or other delimited file formats, to XML.
Data may be loaded into or extracted from the 3rd Party Command Centre System in an on-line real time manner, or in a batch oriented approach. The method that is most appropriate to you will depend on your specific business requirements. The on-line method is appropriate if you require data to be immediately updated in 3rd party Command Centre after being keyed by an operator into one of your existing applications, or where an external application requires immediate access to data held in 3rd Party Command Centre. This method is provided via a COM Automation interface that can be called by any COM compatible programming language, (e.g. VB, Delphi, JScript). The batch approach also uses the Automation interface, but information is passed to or from 3rd Party Command Centre in one or more data files rather than directly through the programming interface. This approach can either be initiated by calling the COM interface directly, or by setting up a scheduled task that looks for, and processes, new files.
My question is can I directly communicate with this COM interface with the existing adapters of SAP XI. I had initially thought of file adapetr to put the XML file in the FTP location from where this COM interface will poll and pick the file but in a real time scenario can we go for this approach. The other option is to publish this COM interface as a webservice but not sure how much rework is required to make this COM Service webservice enabled.
Apart from this can you suggest any other approach which we can work out.
    Thanks in advance
    Ravijeet

    Hi Ravijeet !
You could develop a Java Proxy client that uses the COM objects to extract data and send them directly to XI (http://research.microsoft.com/~chadv/java_com2.htm)
Or you could develop a proxy application in VB or any other tool and do the COM calls and then connect to XI via HTTP, RFC (e.g. SAP .NET Connector) without creating any file in any file system.

    hi,
I have successfully exported and imported translations.
It is also working fine but the problem is with "edit globalization attributes".
In this we have to set primary language to the application
and there are 5 options as:
    1) No NLS (Application not translated)
    2)Use Application primary Language
    3) Browser (use browser language preference)

    5)Item Preference?(use item containing preference)
Now when i am making primary language as italian the application is running successfully but that is wrong because app. primary language should be English in which it is made.
Now when i am choosing 3rd option (browser based) the application is not showing images(or templates) only it
    is displaying the translated text.
So please tell me how to set these settings so that the application can be run successfully in both the languages.
Please kindly help me in this.
