IWork Pages Default Author Name

Everytime I create a new document on the Pages app (Ipad 2) and export to .epub file with "open with/Epub", in the Epub information, the author name field is already filled with a name other than mine. How can I change this default name?

Thank you for replying.  However, the reply is about adding a comment to a PDF, not the author of the PDF document itself.
The Author is seen by opening up the PDF file itself, and then File > Properties.  You can see a screen shot below.
When this pop-up screen is open, you can manually change the name of that author for that one document.  However, I can't figure out how to change the name that Adobe uses by default (for example, I want the Author to be just my first name, not the entire name I used when I installed the product (which is what I changed it to for this one document)).
How do I change the default Author name?
Thank you
Jason

  • Save as PDF - Change Author Name?

In any application when you go to Print, Save as PDF is there any way to change the default author name it already has written there?

Unfortunately, that's not the answer that anyone is looking for. It's not changing the author name that is desired, but changing the author name that comes up by default when you save as PDF so that you don't have to select the author field and change it from your username. The goal is to remove steps, not to add steps.

  • Acrobat 7-how to keep author name in Note Tool permanently blank?

One of my main uses for Acrobat is to review academic documents, which is meant to be done anonomously. When I use Tools>Commenting>NoteTool, my login name appears in the Note Tool box, even though I have deselected "Always use Log-in name for author name"
I know I can delete the author name in the properties box of any individual note, but is there any way to make a blank space the default author name?

You should make your sidebar1 and sidebar2 fixed positioned. Make your content DIV fluid.

  • Author name changing 9.0 Pro

Using 9.0 Pro - recently had to change from XP to 7.
Initially started learning 7.0 with Account name of David - no special security.
Then as I get more knowledgeable in Win 7 and IAW recommendations  I set up an "Administrator" account with PW of "Dr. XXXXX" that allows me access to everythhing, but also allows malicious folks in also. Win 7 recommendation was to also have a non-secure account for everyday less-sensitive tasks so I did this also with the PW of "Dr. XXXXX".
Naturally I want to use the Dr. XXXX in my Stickies for professional clout, but Acrobat insists on using David.
Yes, I know about the tick-mark under "properties" where I can specify that my ID in the stickie is to be my log-in name. Yes, I have tried unchecking, rebooting, re-checking, rebooting, etc. Acrobat refuses to use eith my "administrator" or my non-secure name of Dr. XXXX. Frustrating.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Neptune

Hi Bill - thanks for the response.
I am now beginning to "cone in" a bit am better able to describe the
    problem:
    1.  As I stated at the start, I am using Acrobat 9.0 Pro and Win7
    2.  As I go to: Edit...preferences...commenting...making
comments...(checkbox) Always use log-in name for author name.
Whether or not this box is checked or unchecked the result is the same:
I go to Sticky Note on the taskbar, place it on the page, go to
Options...properties...general...author I find "David". Yes, I can change
the Author Name, but whether or not I further check the box, "Make
properties default" thr result is the same - that one sticky will have the
correct "Dr. XXXX" but the next sticky, as well as subsequent PDFs once
    again default to "David.
    3.   Thanks to ***** (whose four links all quite happily referred me to the
Acrobat X page (I clearly stated 9.0 Pro) then quoted a generic OS (rather
than my clearly-stated Win 7) I finally figured out the problem when I
accessed the 9.0 Pro help in the far right lower corner of the Acrobat X
page. Dumb of me, I admit but I had tried this initially in my own program
"help" without really understanding what was happening.
SO HERE IS PART OF THE ANSWER: The overall basic "author" information
appears to reside in Edit...Preferences...Identity...Login Name (type-in
box) David. Now the fun part. I am unable to change the Log-in name and thus
am unable to change the sticky note. When I try to change the Log-in name I
get a cheery tone, a blinking box, and no was to change David to Dr. XXXX.
Well, it does seem that once I can change the ...Identity...log-in name I
should be able to change the sticky PERMANENTLY.
So I apologize if I have seemed a bit grouchy, and I do appreciate those of
you who have tried to help, but it does get frustrating when those trying to
help express a solution that uses totally unrecognized words, or do not get
even the Adobe  product correct, or the OS...
SO - now the underlying problem is defined. ...
USING WIN 7 AND ACROBAT 9.0 PRO, HOW DO I CHANGE THE LOGIN NAME UNDER
EDIT...PREFERENCES...IDENTITY if I am not allowed access?
Again - apologies to all, but the time I have spent...

Please kindly share ideas how I can implement this app.

  • AdobePDFViewer.plugin And Default File Name When Saving

When I grab a PDF document from a web page, it opens in a Safari Window just fine, as expected. I get the Adobe Plug-in Tool Bar as expected. So now I want to File:Save As the document that I have grabbed and am now looking at in my Safari window. The File:Save As dialog opens and the document title always defaults to 'downloadDocument' instead of the actual name of the file that I have grabbed, even if the html has passed the true file name to the browser and plug in. This means I have to retype the name of the document before I click OK. What a pain......
I cannot find a preference or other setting that would be controlling this. I've looked through the Safari Prefs and the Adobe Prefs
I should note that I have Acrobat Pro 9.0.0 installed, and I'm running Safari 3.2.1 (5525.27.1) on an MBP 2.5GHz C2D with 4GB of RAM. OS X v10.5.6 totally current.
How do I get the default file name in the File:Save As dialog to be the name of the file I have grabbed?

Well, that results in the correct document name appearing in the Save As dialog.
However, it also means all the Adobe tools are gone.
And more importantly, it means that the in-document bookmarks are not available for use. The bookmarks are critical in our application. We work with very long documents (big insurance policies) that have many sections and hence they are all bookmarked so that we can move from section to section easily and find the specific sections, pages, endorsements, etc. that we need.
So, it appears my next step is to "visit" Adobe and find out why they don't play nice??????

  • Default File name using CL_BDS_DOCUMENT_SET= CREATE_WITH_TABLE

We are using BSP application to display smartform in PDF format in a new page/window. When I try to save the PDF from the browser/window, its pops up a screen with defaults as "Desktop" and a File Name. I am not sure how system is generating the default file name. How can we change this File Name?

    Hi,
It's done while creating the Response-Caching as in below code:
    cl_http_server=>server_cache_upload( url = filename   response = response ).
We can pass custom value in the variable filename.

  • Change author name in properties

I have a PDF created by someone else and I need to anonymise it before sending it on. This means I need to change the author information in the document Properties, but although I can click the author name and highlight it, I can't change it. Has anyone come across this? Does anyone have a solution other than going back to the original author, who presumably would be able to change it?

    Hi alisons68876995,
You might need to try this out:
Go to "Edit> Preferences> Commenting" and disable "Always use log-in name for author name" option.
Then, make a comment in the PDF and once done, go to Comment properties (Click on options in the comment pop-up) and the choose 'General' to choose the author name.
Now, accept the changes, click on options again and choose 'Make properties default'.
Now, adding a new comment will now include your name.
Please check and then let me know.

  • PDF File - Author Name and Title

Product: Adobe Acrobat Standard Version 8.1.2
Product: Microsoft Access 2003 Windows XP Professional
Problem: When creating PDF documents using Microsoft Access forms as the source, the PDF document is created with a title and author other than what is desired. Thus I have to manually enter the desired information into the PDF document.
Question 1: Where is the default information (author and title) being sourced from?
Question 2: How do I change this default information.

You can edit the Name in Acrobat/Reader's Identity object, but login name is pass from the OS. But changing the Name in the identity object will not change the "Author" name of the PDF. You could try setting the Author/User name in FrameMaker's properties. If that does not work, you can create an Acrobat menu item, tool bar button, or batch process to change the "Author" name value in the PDF's by using JavaScript.

  • Author name in the header

How is possible to insert the Author name of sheet on header page??
    bye
    gianlu

    Hi JeanCruz!
Were you able to sort your problem out?
Based on what you have written, what I understand is:
    1) Your clients have access to various business areas
    2) They are creating their own reports either using Discoverer Desktop or Plus.
    3) They want their name to appear on the header as a report author.
The solution I had suggested was let them select 'user' from your quary 'select user from dual' and place it as a page item in the report. Thus, when they select page items to be displayed in the header, their name will automatically apear as an author.
However, there is something that I had not thought of....if some other user (with whom the author of tha report has shared the report) logs in and checks tha same report...then, his/her name will appear instead of the author.
Answer to your last question: I'm from India, but, working in Mauritius.
    Regards,
    Aparna

  • Bug in list binding editor - change to default iterator name doesn't take

    JDev 10.1.3.2
Not sure anyone has reported this...
    1. Drop a View Object onto my jspx as an ADF Form
    2. Delete one of the inputs.
    3. Drop the attribute (for the deleted input) as an adf select one choice
    4. Hit the "Add..." button next to the List Data Source
    5. In the Add Data Source dialog, choose the appropriate list source view object.
    6. In the Iterator Name field, change the default iterator name with one of your own choosing. (Mine went from something like "MyViewObjectIterator" to something like "MyViewObjectIteratorForThisField".)
    7. Hit "OK" in the Add Data Source dialog
    8. The new iterator is now in the List Data Source drop down, but it did not get the new name.
Yes, one can easily work around this by editing the page def file.

    Hi,
good catch. Though it can be changed in the PropertyInspector after that it means more refactoring needed than if it worked in the binding dialog. Will file it as a bug

  • Default Author

Hi, I am encountering a strange issue with the Author field in Site Studio. I have a user trying to create a new content item in a Dynamic List but the author field is getting the default value of sysadmin, rather than the user creating the content. Obviously, the user in question does not have sysadmin rights and is being prevented from doing so. This was working up until a while ago. It started happening after I applied the latest patches on UCM. Strangely enough, when the user tries to check in content directly from UCM, rather than SS, the author field has the proper user. This seems to only happen when through SS. We cannot use the workaround as content is HTML driven and needs to be checked in through SS. Any pointers as I cannot remember, if any, the options to change this in SS. When I set the defaults of the contributor region, the author field is not available. Any type of help is much appreciated.

    a) OK, in 10g it could be Set Default Project Document Information Page (see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E10316_01/SiteStudio/10gr4/Pdf/Site_Studio_10gR4_Administrator_and_Manager_Guide.pdf , chapter A.6)
    b) you should first find out where the sysadmin comes from. I still believe that it is from the default values, but it can be as well from a profile.
Without this information it is not possible to move on.
    c) if you allow to insert a CDF, not a native file, why is it so important that the correct author is used? In your first message you wrote that
Obviously, the user in question does not have sysadmin rights and is being prevented from doing so (i.e. trying to create a new content item).Do I get it right that when a user tries to check-in a content, an error appears - if so, could you please share this error? Or, anything else happens?
    d) if my assumptions are true, you could most likely override the default author by a profile, or a global rule - the idocScript command <$UserName$> could be used here.
However, like yourself, I am surprised why this behaviour started to appear just now, after applying a patch - maybe, the functionality of default values was not present in your previous version?
Could you mention on what version you were before update?
Overall, this is probably a question for MetaLink (first check, if anything relevant cannot be found).
