LCD SCREEN DAMAGE/APPLE WONT FIX

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I sent my Mini I pod in to be fixed because the screen was not showing just lines and a few words here and there. I had not dropped or caused any damage to my I pod. I had sent it in and Apple said it was misused and they wont fix it and I have to buy a new one. I had a protective cover on my I pod and it was always in my bag. They said the screen is so fragile and it could break easily. But still they wont cover it. I am fuming. It is completely unfair as I took very good care of my I pod. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sorry to hear about your dilemma.
My screen's backlight recently stopped working. Mine is a first gen out of warranty now for the last 6 months.
Oh well... Maybe check out the Nano and see if you like that better. That is what I plan to do, but whether I buy a Nano or another Mini, I am definitely buying the extended warranty!
It blows that these things don't hold up as well as a Macintosh, but they are obviously a different kind of product.

  • Nano screen cracked, Apple wont fix

I just purchased my Ipod nano straight from the apple website less than 3 months ago. All of a sudden the screen appeares to have cracked. It now wont turn on, the only thing it will do is the backlight will light up if I plug it in to a computer. That is all, nothing will appear on screen. I did not drop or mishandle the Ipod in any way. I knew it was still under warranty and that apple would replace it, so I sent it in using their replacement service, only to recieve an email a few days later stating that the problem was caused by accidential customer abuse and it will not be fixed. That is complete garbage, I did not mishandle my ipod in any way. So im wondering why some people who have had the same apparent problem have gotten their ipods fixed for free, but mine they will not fix?

No, not really. I live in Central Illinois, and all the Illinois stores are near Chicago, well over 100 miles away.

  • APPLE WONT FIX MY IPODTOUCH!

So I've had my ipod for about 9months now, 3months ago the screen started to crash every now and then, I didn't think much of until now! my screen has changed colour! It hasn't been dropped, nothings spilt on it at all! I bought a case for it the same day!
I sent it to repairs and they refuse to fix it! what should i do?!?! Its still under warranty and the outcome is surely unacceptable.

    What reason did Apple provide?
iPod was abused so not covered by warranty?
Apple could not recreate the problem?

  • Home button broke and Apple wont fix it?

I became a first time iphone user a little over a year ago through Verizon.  I have an iphone 4.  About 3 weeks ago (50 days after my one year warranty ran out, the home button on my phone broke.  Sometimes it flat out doesnt respond, other times it acts as if it is pressed in and constantly flips between the desktop and open apps and also activates voice command and randomly dials people.  Essentially it has become unusable.
I've gone through the list of common fixes for this problem and tried them all.  I've tried calibrating the home button,  using the charging adapter to unstick the button, ive tried the isopropyl alcohol in the button, nothimg fixed it. I even did a full format and restoring of the phone.
I finally took it to my local Apple store.  They looked at it, determined it was indeed a hardware issue with the button and told me they will not repair it and that my only option is to buy a new 4 for $200.  I was willing to pay to have this issue fixed as I am out if warranty and do not have any coverage plan but they wont do that.  Im pretty unsatisfied with this answer as you would expect.   As a first time Apple customer I dont have a good first impression.  Im realistic and understand that im out of warranty and thats why im willing to pay to have it repaired, but when im told my only option is to buy a new phone...wrong answer.  I now just feel as if its a tactic to increase revenue.  Not surprising, I know.
Anyone ever experienced this before and have any suggestions?  Unless it fixes itself or I get a satisfactory resolution from Apple, I'll probably activate an old phone, wait a year for my verizon contract to renew and get an android.

It is actually a refurbished iPhone 4 and it is $149 (U.S.)

  • Liquid got behind LCD screen. How to fix?

Unfortunately some liquid (OK, Mountain Dew—don't ask) got behind or inside my LCD. It now has some very bright regions where the liquid is, and an overall dimness in other parts. My sense is that the liquid is between the LCD panel and the backlight lens, and not in the LCD panel itself. Can the two be disassembled separately and the liquid cleaned out? Or do I need the whole panel to be replaced? Any one successfully fixed this?

Not bad, considering how it looked at first.
    Maybe all the caffeine helped!
Keep an eye on it anyway. If some of the goo worked into the hinge area where the cables run, there could be some "down the road" issues.

  • HT200006 Apple wont fix Iphone because 'been tampered with'

Im really struggling with what or where to go from here... And it seems a lot of people are having the same problem... My iphone 5c is still under warranty and after taking it to the Apple shop 3 hours of waiting the man comes back and says sorry I cant replace the phone as its been tampered with... I was given no proof or written evidence to tell me why/how or anything... What am I to do now? Is this apple just trying to pass my warranty on? It seems apple are very good at selling there products but not taking responsibility afterwards? Anyone had this issue and what was done? Ive been told I need to have it collected and taken in for testing... Im unsure whether this is just a waste of time to have my phone returned and be told again its been tampered with.... Well yes by your staff!!

  • The lcd screen of my 15-inch Macbook Pro (mid 2009) is separating from the case. The glue failed due to the heat.  How can I get Apple to fix this factory flaw?

The heat vented from the back of the laptop caused the glue to fail and now the screen is separating from back of the lcd case near the hinges. I know for a fact that this issue is known by Apple as I have seen the issue reported at least a dozen times.  This laptop was considerably more expensive than any comparable laptop at the time I bought it. I bought it believing that I was buying a quality product from a quality company.   I've owned many laptops and I have never seen anything like this.  My laptop is out of warranty but this is really besides the point.  This is clearly a factory defect that Apple should remedy.  What do I need to do to get Apple to fix this design flaw?

    Ask Apple.

my ipod touch died in the middle of a upgrade and now it wont come back on. When I charge it, it just goes to the apple but not the home screen. how do i fix it

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Damaged iPod Nano LCD screen

A while ago i found my Nano with the LCD screen cracked with no damage to the outer part of the nano, only the screen inside was cracked. I called Apple and they said that the damage was physical and that they will not replace it. I also read my 3-year store warrenty and they said that we have to contact apple because they will do nothing for it. This ****** me off because I payed $90 on a 3-year warrenty and the wont do anything for me. I was told to send in my Nano anyways but i dont know what i need to send in with the Nano and where I would be able to find an address.
Any suggestions on how I could get my Nano replaced or what I need to send my iPod with would be very helpful

If possible, I recommend taking it into an Apple store first. This way you can talk directly with a real person.

If you've had it more than 6 months, you will be charged $29.95 for shipping. Less than 6 months, it's free.
Apple will send you a box via DHL or FedEx.
Put your iPod (only-no accesories) in the box, put the return label on the box and call or drop it off with whoever delivedred it.

  • Monitor Mirroring - iMac 24 with damaged LCD screen

My iMac 24 LCD screen is damaged to the point where it is basically worthless. I have attached an external monitor via a VGA adaptor. Problem...since I cannot see the screen, I cannot get into system preferences to select "detect displays". Is there any way for the computer to detect the external monitor automatically? Or other suggestions. Thanks.

  • Fixing an LCD screen that has been shot in a video and ispulsing/flickering

I have an HDV format movie of a product video that includes a small LCD touch screen, editing in apple intermediate 1080i codec, that includes scenes with LCD screens in the background, one of the screens is flickering as it was not synched to the camera during shooting. It doesn't look too bad in HD but when I downconvert to DVD (using the bonsai method going thru a DV50 intermediate http://web.mac.com/bonsai71/iWeb/HDVtoDVD/Welcome.html) the flickering is very noticeable.
I've tried roughly masking it and using the flicker filter - it helps but it doesn't fix it 100%. The rest of the video looks great. I can't replace the screen as it's too much work. Any ideas how i can reduce the pulsing/flicker.

  • Can you send your iPad to Apple to fix a cracked screen?

Can you send a ipad (3rd gen) with a cracked screen to Apple, will they fix it and how much will it cost?

The standard 1-year Apple Care warranty only covers defects in materials and workmanship, not damage due to accidents.
Apple's Limited Warranty http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/ for iPad excludes coverage for damage resulting from accident, disassembly, unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications.
    Out-of-Warranty Service
If you own an iPad that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will replace (Apple doesn't repair) your iPad with an iPad that is new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below. (The replacement will most likely be a refurbished iPad in a brown box, however, it has a new screen, back and battery.)
    iPad model
    Out-of-Warranty Service Fee
    iPad mini
    $219
    iPad 3rd, 4th generation
    $299
    iPad 2, iPad
    $249
A $6.95 shipping fee will be added if service is arranged through Apple and requires shipping. All fees are in US dollars and are subject to local tax.
Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPad that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service. See http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipad

  • Apple Hard Drive not working after picking it up for a new LCD screen

I recently picked picked up my repaired MacBook Pro ( replacing LCD screen). It was weird because they didn't test it in front of me or anything, They just handed it to me. When I got back home, i turned it on. It shows the Apple logo and the loading screen. Once the loading screen was full , it would turn off automaticallyy. It turns out my hard drive failed. Even though my my LCD screen was damaged,  everything else on the mac was working fine. this is also my second hard drive , which i purchased in August ( 90 day warranty up) . I feel like this is an Apple issue and they should give me a free hard drive. Is this possible.
The hard drive was fine before they started to repair it.

  • Do I have to pay apple to fix my phone screen if my warranty is still valid.

Do I have to pay apple to fix my phone screen if my warranty is still valid.

If you damaged the screen, then yes, you have to pay. But most Apple stores can replace the screen for a relatively small fee. If the screen was defective there will be no charge for replacement.
