Manually triggering updates in Office 2013

Hi,
Does anybody know how to manually trigger an update in Office 2013?
How to update immediately rather than auto /
scheduled?
Updating via Windows/Microsoft Updates doesn't seem to work??
Many thanks.

I found that if you do the following you can always trigger manual updates for Office 2013.
In the registry go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\propertyBag"
Add a string value named "updatetoversion" and set the data to your desired version (must be a recognized version in http://support.microsoft.com/gp/office-2013-click-to-run)
such as 15.0.4551.1512.  This is KEY in making this work.
Make the following values are set to something that starts with http://officecdn.microsoft.com so that the updates are grabbed from Microsoft.
Here are what mine are set to (removed product ID just in case yours is different).
***All values are found in key location outlined in step 1.
- “baseurl” = “http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/<Product ID>/Office/Data/15.0.4517.1005”
(This version was my base version at install, do not change it if already set.
If not, set to whatever your base version was at install)
- “updatebaseurl” = “http://officecdn.microsoft.com”
(Make sure this one matches)
- “wwwbaseurl” = “http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/<Product ID>”
To Find your Product ID go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\ProductReleaseIDs\Active\Stream"
You will see value names that include the path of your install.
Don’t use that ID, look at what the data of that key is set to.
Such as “http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/<Product ID>/Office/Data/15.0.4551.1011/stream.x64.en-us.dat” and pull out your Product ID.
Ensure all the keys in Step 3 are in the format I listed but with YOUR Product’s ID in place of <Product ID>.
Now run the batch file that has the following content.
(Use ClientX86 for 32-bit)
cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64"
integratedoffice.exe updatedetection
integratedoffice.exe updatedownloadprompt
If it does not work correctly every time, break into 2 batch files and run one right after the other.
Batch file 1
cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64"
integratedoffice.exe updatedetection
Batch file 2
cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64"
integratedoffice.exe updatedownloadprompt
Good luck!

  • Windows Update won't find updates for Office 2013?

    Hi,
    I'm on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1.
I have Office 2013 Professional Plus.
Whenever I check Windows Update for updates, it never seems to bring up updates for Office.  I assume there have been at least some updates to Office 2013 since it was released?
My Windows Update screen tells me:
"You receive updates: For Windows only."
When I click the "Find out more" to get updates for other MS products, all that happens is the IE opens up on a page that says "Use your Start menu to check for updates"
So... how do I get Windows Update to check for updates to Office 2013?  I feel very confused--I mean, shouldn't I be able to set Windows Update to check for updates for a whole host of MS programs (Silverlight, .NET, Office, etc.)?
I've tried changing the Windows Update settings to include other Microsoft products but there's no option to do so when I check.
Any insight would be appreciated! Someone recommended I ask here because I'm on Windows 7 Enterprise.

    Check for updates manually

  • Free Office 2010 Update to Office 2013

I upgraded Office 2010 to Office 2013 when the free upgrade period was available.  Recently, my computer hard drive crashed, and the Microsoft Store restored my Hard Drive and saved my data.  The programs were gone, however.  I reloaded Office
2010 from disk.  How do I get Office 2013 back?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi,
Since the free upgrade period was over, we don't provide this service now.
If you can't activate Office 2010 now, I suggest you do a phone activation. Explain your scenario to the service (Human being), you can also consult them about the free update matter.

  • Office 2013 updates fail on computers with Access 2013 installed

I have about 10 workstations with the combination of Windows 7 enterprise 32 bit, Access 2013 and Office 2007 installed.
SCCM offers up both Office 2007 and Office 2013 updates to these machines, but the Office 2013 updates, fail to install.
The same thing happens when I go to Microsoft updates and manually install the required Office 2013 updates.
I read that one of the updates required Office 2013 sp1.
But when I downloaded it, it won't install:  KB2817430 "The expected version of this product was not found on the system."
This is the second month I've had the failures. I removed KB2878316 and KB2889927 from my deployments and packages to stop repeated install attempts.
But this month I've got a new on failing, KB2899493.
Is there a way around this problem?

Thanks, I couldn't really find anything but it looks as though this could be just the way it is.
    from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2784668
When you start a version of Access on a computer that has multiple versions of Access installed, the Windows Installer may start, and
a message that states that the Windows Installer is preparing to install Access may be displayed before Access starts.
Every time that you start Access 2003, Access 2007, or Access 2010 after you use Access 2013, the Windows Installer repair operation registers
that version of Access. Similarly, the Windows Installer repair operation registers Access 2010 every time that you start it after you use an earlier version of Access. This does not occur when you start Access 2002, nor does it occur when you start the same
    version of Access again.
Is this likely to also apply even when running App-V?

  • Office 2013 and the KB3001652 update

    I am using a click-to-run version of Office 2013 on my 64-bit Windows 7 SP1 system.
I do not allow Windows to update my system automatically.
Unless there is a good reason to do it more frequently, I use Windows Update every month to update my system manually.
For the last three months (February, March and April 2015), Windows Update has offered KB3001652 (update for Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime) as an important update.
At first, I didn’t know why this update was being offered.
I don’t have Visual Studio 2010 installed.  But I later learnt that Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime comes as part of Office 2013, so KB3001652 appears to be a legitimate update for Office 2013.
However, I have still not installed the update.
    I have the following queries:
Having installed a click-to-run version of Office 2013, I expected ALL updates to Office 2013 to be done automatically in the background.
In fact, I’m sure I read somewhere that no updates would come through the Windows Update route.
So why has this update come through Windows Update?
Does anyone know whether the KB3001652 update to Office 2013 will eventually be done as an automatic update in the background?
If you inspect the April updates to Office 2013 in support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3050766, the highest numbered individual update is still only KB2965279, so it might be a few months yet before KB3001652 is included (assuming it will be, of course).

Same problem here!. Giving the computer network access allows the control to be populated. Then I disabled and restarted and it seems to be ok....

  • Update Office 2013 & IE

Hi there, I have WSUS setup to approve Windows Updates for my 2012 servers. Can I use WSUS to approve and install Updates for Office 2013 & IE 10 as well? If so, how? If not, what is other way to install updates for Office 2013 & IE 10?
I open Word -> File -> Account, but I can't find manual update there, so I'm sure how to update it manually.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    check this
Do you have a click-to-run version of Office?
Management tools like Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and products controlling WSUS like System Center Configuration Manager 2012 are not distributing software updates
    to Click-to-Run software.

  • Patching Office 2013 multilanguage - updates to be applied

    Hi,
I deployed Office 2013 Std English with a list of Language Packs (german, italian, spanish, ...). To make the deployment, I created an administrative share with the suite (english version) and added several folders extracted fron Language Pack iso (the iso
is named "Office Multilanguage Pack 2013 w Proofing Tools (All Languages)"). The deployment worked fine: now users can select English or other languages for the interface, the guide and the proofing tools.
Now, I have to update for my deployed Office 2013 suites. I configure WSUS to download updates for Office 2013, but my question is: I can download only the english version for updates, or I have to configure WSUS also to download updates for Office
in the languages I added to the suite?
    Thanks in advance.
    Roberto

Always include English in addition to any other languages that are required throughout your organization.
All updates are based on English language packs.
    The recommended practice by Microsoft
    is as below:
    Plan for WSUS Update Languages
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh328568(v=ws.10).aspx
Choose a Type of WSUS Deployment
    http://technet.microsoft.com/us-en/library/cc720448(v=ws.10).aspx
Using the WSUS 3.0 Configuration Wizard

  • Windows Updates keeps BREAKING Office 2013, SkyDrive, ETC

Everytime I do the Updates my system and Office 2013 becomes completely unstable.
As a result I only do upgrades every 2 weeks. On Friday, April 24 I sat down to do my 2 week update and had almost 40 updates that had to be done. (goodbye 4 hours of my life)
After the updates, just like clockwork, office, sharepoint and onedrive stopped working. I am going to try to provide as much detail as possible so as to notify Microsost in hopes this stop and in case anyone else has the issues. I will also provide
the steps I took to fix some of the issues.
    Note:
    I am running Windows 8.1, 64-bit on HP-ENVY 17" touch laptop
I DO NOT have any virus', malware, etc. I have ran MalwareBytes, Windows Defender and Webroot (as I always do before and after updates)
I have office 2013 and subscribe to office 365 for business - I have a license key for Office 2013 but was told somewhere that it conflicts with the click-to-run we are forced to use with 365 so I only do the office 365 version
I do have Sharepoint Designer on my system as I am the administrator of our sharepoint site
I access our sharepoint documents via Windows Explorer
After the updates I have experienced the following
I tried to open a ppt, xls and doc file and nothing would open giving random errors. I then did the control panel --> office click to run --> change --> reinstall everything. I did this and then some of the documents opened fine (goodbye
    another hour of my life)
After trying to open a file from my windows explorer in our sharepoint site I get a continuous and recoccuring popup from Microsoft OneDrive for Business that says "Sorry, we can't perform this action. Incompatible Office Products are installed
on your machine. If you have an administrator, please contact them for help." (The last part just makes me laugh because I AM the administrator)
This annoying popup NEVER stops. It keeps popping up every 60 seconds if I close it. I have kiiled the onedrive process, paused the syncing, killed the office click-to-run task. Shut down all office products. Nothing makes this stop except for a full reboot
Please HELP or tell me what to do so that I can once again open my sharepoint files (and all of my employees can do so as well!)

    Hi,
"I tried to open a ppt, xls and doc file and nothing would open giving random errors." Could you please provide some of these errors to me? Then I can do some research based on the errors.
Based on your error message, please make sure you have installed this update:
    February 10, 2015 update for Office 2013 (KB2920798)
We can also collect some event logs after the issues occur, press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter.
Browse to Windows Logs -> Application, check if there are any logs about the issue.
You can send the logs to our email address, we will then help analyze the information. Please send the logs to this email address below:

  • Office 2013 patches not installing

I am trying to install some updates for office 2013 through Windows update and I keep on getting the error message 80070663 when installing these (8 so far). Other windows patches
install fine.  I am running Windows 7 Pro in a Domain environment and am a domain admin running these with full admin privileges.
I have tried just about every fix suggested in every other post
    - Rebuilding the Windows Update environment
    - Running Sfc (no errors)
    - Running the relevant Fixit's (no issues or repairs found)
    - Running Chkdsk Scan (no errors)
    - Downloading the patches and trying to run them manually (They error out with a applicability test error)
    - Running Antimalware and similar scans (nothing)
    - Running a repair on Office 2013 (errors out with a 5 error towards the end of the repair - faulting module msvcrt.dll fault offset 35e1
    - Downloading and reinstalling the C++ library re-distributables (i.e. msvcrt.dll)
Not this is only on the Office patches and not any other patches which suggests an office problem rather than a Windows update issue.
Anyone got any thoughts - There was a suggestion that this might be caused by missing update packages...

    Hi,
    Apologize for the late reply.
Regarding Office issue, have you tried Repair Office programs from control panel?
    Follow this guide:

  • Office 2013 C2R Update Scheduled Task does not work

    Hi all.
I am having difficulty getting network deployed updates to work correctly. I installed and older version of Office 2013 with the ODT from a network share and set the update path. I then downloaded an update via ODT.
The issue is the scheduled task does not update office. If I trigger or manually run from a command prompt "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe RUNMODE RERUNMODE modetorun updatedetection modeargs reschedulemode tasktrigger
scheduledtask updateuitype background” from Task Scheduler nothing seems to happen. Monitoring Task Manager it looks like integratedoffice is called albeit very briefly.
But, if I run "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\ClientX64\integratedoffice.exe RUNMODE RERUNMODE modetorun updatedetection background” from a command prompt Office updates, but if I edit the Scheduled Task to above Office does not update if the
    task is triggered.
As Office can update if the right command is given it would appear that my config.xml etc is correct. Any ideas on why the Scheduled Task does not work?
    Cheers
    Jakes

What permissions are set on the location of the updates ? C2R currently needs permissions granted for machine accounts as it runs under that context. This will change at some point that C2R gets updated.

  • Office 2013: where the heck are the security updates hiding?

I built a deployment for Office 2013 yesterday.  The source files were downloaded from Microsoft, with SP1 integrated.  This is *not* a "Click to Run" deployment.  I used the Office Customization Tool to make a few changes (we're
not using OneDrive, so that piece isn't getting installed.  I disabled the "First Run" and Customer Experience stuff, and disabled RSS Feeds and SharePoint integration.  And I put in our volume license key.  Overall it's a pretty vanilla
    build.)
I wanted to include all available security updates since SP1 has been released, and stick them into the "Updates" folder of my deployment.  So after I installed Office 2013 x64 on my Windows 7 x64 system (the base package that I built installs
just fine), I went to Windows Update to see what was available.  There is nothing there.  I rebooted, and tried again.  Still nothing.  If I go into one of the Office 2013 apps, and go to File -> Account, I do *not* have any "Update"
    buttons or options.
If I go to Windows Update in my Control Panel, and click "Change Settings", I have two things checked.  "Give me recommended updates the same way I receive important updates", and "Allow all users to install updates on this
computer."  There are no other options to look for alternative Microsoft products, or at least no options that I can find.  This is Windows 7 x64 SP1, fully patched.
I know that there have been security updates released for Office 2013 since SP1 came out in February 2014.  I manually downloaded a security patch for Lync 2013, and installed that MSP onto this test system with no
issues.  So there are applicable security updates out there.  So why in the world can't I find the updates through the normal mechanisms?  Ideally, we'd want for end users to be able to install security updates manually in an
emergency, but either I'm missing something, or that is not possible in Office 2013.  Hopefully distributing Office 2013 updates through SCCM will work, but from what I'm seeing so far, I'm not sure the machines will be "detected" as having
Office 2013, because right now it can't even scan itself against Windows Update for that product.
Thanks for any input...I'm quite baffled at how the update routine is supposed to be functioning in Office 2013.  I think the missing link is why I can't choose to search for "other" Microsoft products from the Windows Update panel.
    The option/checkbox is totally gone.

    Hi,
By default Windows Update only updates Windows itself. To get updates for Office and for any other Microsoft products as well, you will need to upgrade your Windows Update to Microsoft Update.
On Windows Update panel, click "Find out more" link to install Microsoft Update.
    Hope this helps.

  • Office 2013 small business version is missing UPDATE NOW

    Hi
I'm  currently running office 2013 version 15.0.4433.1508 and trying to update, however it doesn't seem to auto update even though option is selected to auto update.
The option to update manually is missing  i.e. "File-> Office Account-> Update Options->
    Update Now"
please advise why my office is not updating or doesn't allow the option to update now?
    thanks

How did you configure the Update option when deploy your Office 2013?
Please publish your configuration.XML file. If this is a corporation network env, you might also want to check with your admin and see if they have re-configured your Office installation.

  • Office 2013 simply refuses to update templates

    Hi All,
Was wondering if you could help as i'm really getting thin on ideas now.
I've been working with Azure RMS for a couple of weeks with no problem but all of a sudden I can't get Office 2013 to update the custom templates I've been creating on multiple devices.
I've created custom templates before that have refreshed in Office perfectly but new ones simply will not download. As far as I'm aware everything is set as it should be  in terms of the template is published and my user account is within the scope
of users who can use the template.
I have installed the RMS sharing app on my Win 8.1 machine and when right clicking a file to complete an in place protect the most up to date templates are present but whilst working directly within Word or Excel etc the templates are out of date.
I've tried all sorts of combinations of deleting the templates folder in: %AppData%\Local\Microsoft\MSIPC\Templates and deleting the LastUpdateTime dword, signing out of office and signing in again but nothing I try seems to help.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I could try?
    Thanks in advance!

While this feature (departmental templates) is in Preview, Office applications don't recognize these templates, by default.  From
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn642472.aspx#BKMK_HowToConfigureCustomTemplates, see step 8 and the behavior you're seeing:
Not all applications can support departmental templates. To do so, the application must first authenticate with the RMS service before downloading the templates. If the authentication process does not occur, by default, none of the departmental templates
    are downloaded.
There is a script that you can run (see the Note) for this to work with Office applications during the Preview period. We were hoping to get the script on the Download Center, but it's currently on the Connect site.  If you have problems accessing it,

  • Office 2013 latest update broke new profile creation on all network computers

    Hi,
    Reporting a bug here!
    Setup details:
We're using samba 3 as our backend and all workstation are Windows 7 Pro x64.
Office 2013 Home and Business Retail (en-us) Click 2 Run version
    Context:
Deployed to the whole network of one of our client using the Office Deployement Tool.
We update their base update (no updates) to the latest update 15.0.4569.1508
Everything was working alright after initial Office 2013 installation with no updates. After updating the all the PCs to the latest version as of 31/03/2014, the user profile creation broke for newly created user.
    Symptoms and causes:
Trying to log on as a new user on the machine would give the following error on Logon before automatically loging off because it cannot copy the following file to the new user profile:
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_00.sqm
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm
    D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_02.sqm
The Bici folder has Read and Execute permissions for everyone but the _XX.sqm files inside only have permissions (Full Control) for SYSTEM and Administrators and LOCAL SERVICE with the all permissions EXCEPT:
    - FULL CONTROL
    - TRAVERSE FOLDERS/EXECUTE FILES
    - CHANGE PERMISSIONS
    - TAKE OWNERSHIP
    Solution:
I gave "everyone" Read and Execute permission on those files and the new user could log in and his profile got created alright.
The files with broken permissions time stamp shows they've been modified during the Office 2013 update and Bici seems to be a OneDrive related service. This bug should get fixed ASAP.
    Event log error:
Windows cannot copy file \\?\D:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm to location \\?\D:\Users\TEMP\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Bici\_01.sqm. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.
