Missing QT help files

I have QT pro installed and when I go to the Help files I get all the titles but when I click on them nothing happens. Each title seems to be a link to something but can't get any of them to open up with the help I need. Tried an update and it says all files are up to date.
Thanks

I found a PDF file that will give me the info I need.
Thanks

  • Missing Itunes Help Files?

When I search for subjects within Itunes Help nothing shows up (just a blank dialog box with Help headers at the top). When I select Itunes & Itunes Store Help from the Help menu I used to get a Help guide as the first dialog window telling me particular subjects of interest and a search box -- this dialog no longer appears. I think this may have occured after a recent Itunes update. I really rely on the Help Facility to use Itunes. Any suggestions on how to get it back? Should I reinstall my current version of Itunes?

"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing." Help!!
Hello everyone, I have looked throughout this forum but couldn’t find anything similar so I am posting this in the hope of someone helping me out.
I have encountered some problems with iTunes (most recent edition) after doing a Dell update which seems to have knocked something out with iTunes.
Whenever I hit the iTunes icon it refuses to run and iTunes displays the following message:-
"iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
I don’t want to reinstall itunes from fresh as this will mean losing all the records and playlists that I have spent the last 3 years using.
I first want to try by getting my old one back by any means neccessary.
Like I said this problem first happened after a standard Dell update.
I do have the option of doing a restore with the Dell or using Windows Vista restore itself but I fear I do not have enough disk space.
On the Dell update I can restore to settings of a previous date which might bring iTunes back but when attempt to do
that I keep getting the following message,
"Not enough free disk space to back up"
Around this time I am given a lists of what will be backed up and this readsas follows:-
    Pics 2.87gb
    Music 71.72gb
    Videos 330.57mb
    Documents 219.11mb
    Email etc 203.64mb
How do I free up disk space to do the back up? An external hard drive?? If I baIs there anyway of getting a previous version of iTunes back?
My drive information is as follows:-
    C Drive: Very little room - red warning - 5.67gb of 138gb
    D Drive: 6.34gb of 9.99 free
Do I have too much music?
Ideally don't want to reinstall itunes as is a ball ache, and it has all the playlists etc so if there is
a way of restoring and getting back iTunes either via restoring system to the prior date when iTunes was ok.
C drive is really full now. How can I clean this up and make more room? Do I need to add memory? Are all the songs
causing the problem? What advise can you give me? Please help.
    Thanks!

    Nodders:
I've recently had exactly the same message as you, after iTunes updated to 10.1.1.4. First of all, I checked the *My Music* folder to make sure it was still there - it was. (I do have a back up of that folder anyway!)
I then chose the re-install iTunes option and a pop-up box asked if I wanted to uninstall iTunes or repair it. I (obviously) chose repair and I'm pretty sure what happened was that the install process simply re-installed a damaged (or missing) file. It far too quick to be a fresh install. My library was intact.
So my advice(for what it's worth) is take the re-install option and then repair option. I can't guarantee anything, but ...
By the way, after I experienced a recent hard drive failure, I decided to invest in a 1TB external drive to back up my iTunes library and personal files because it's a much easier way of backing up than my previous method. Luckily, I only lost a small recent part of my library, but it taught me a lesson. Back up regurlarly, using a larger hard drive than you are using on your computer (which allows you to keep the most recent and +next most recent+ back-ups, and don't rely on Windows to do the backing up. Find a suitable backup piece of software. (My hard drive came with s/w built in.)

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • 10.1.4 library file missing for help and update not working

Just updated to AR 10.1.4 and everything seems to be working except the help and update functions are not working. I get the message that the library help file is missing. I uninstalled and reinstalled in both FF15 anf IE9 with the same result and I installed from both Adobe and FileHippo with the same result. Anybody have any suggestions?

On the AR 10.1.4 tool bar menu click the "Help" item and the drop down screen shows a number of items to select from. If I click on "Adobe Reader X Help" I get a message saying "the library file is missing and I should reinstall". As for "check for updates" nothing happens. I've uninstalled and reinstalled AR 10.1.4 from two different browsers, IE9 and FF 15 with no difference. I'm using Vista 32 bit OS.

  • Cannot uninstall after error missing help file.

After an error that the help file is missing, I tried to uninstall the program so I could reinstall it.  It will not uninstall and I cannot reinstall it using the original CD.

I got it fixed finally by doing your manual uninstall.  Had to remove several components in the registry before it would finally reinstall.  Thanks for getting back to me.

  • Missing help files

I have just bought a new iMac and installed Leopard. However I am having a lot of problems trying to use any of the help tools in Finder. Searches do not bring back any results, and sometimes the window remains blank. Today it displayed the main Mac Help screen, with "What's New in Leopard?" etc., but none of the links work. When I click a link I get an error message saying "Alert Page cannot be found". I guess this could be due to a corrupted install or Help index file, but I have no idea how to fix this. Any suggestions? Many thanks

In case anyone else searches this forum for "Missing Help Files" here's my experience:
I'm too chicken to delete files even though I've a good back up, so I renamed each with "old" inserted in the file names which macjack cited above. There are four files he mentioned. "Deleting" the ~/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.helpui folder didn't produce any visible. I still got the "Alert" message from Mac Help.
I then went to the set of four ~/Home/Library/Preferences/ files he specified. I found there was no com.apple.helpui.plist file there to delete! Then I "deleted" the remaining three he specified and restarted. Worked like a charm. Mac Help looks to be running as intended.
    Thanks, macjack.

  • TOC in Microsoft help file missing expand buttons

Firstly happy new year to all
I am having an issue with a generated microsoft help file which is causing the expand buttons on the TOC to disappear.  The help file works as expected apart from this irritation.  Here is a screen shot of the dodgy TOC:
I would appreciate any help on this as I'm a bit stumped.
    Thanks,
    James

This is controlled by an option in your single source layout properties. Click on the Edit button next to the "Advanced Settings" field. In there, click on the TOC Styles tab and select the "Plus/Minus Squares option. If this is unavailable, select the "Lines from Root" option.

  • Missing help file in Dreamweaver

The program installed OK, and the help file was present.  Now I get the message that it is not available,
How do I re-install the help file?

This issue is usually seen if you are trying to launch the help offline and the pdf is not downloaded.
To help troubleshoot this issue, do the following steps:
    1. Check if the Adobe Help Manager is installed (on Windows, go to \Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Help).
    2. Click Adobe Help.exe.
The Adobe Help Manager should launch showing the local content available for download. If there is new content available for download, the download status appears as “Pending Download”. Select the CS6 Reference PDF that you want to download and click the Update button.
Once you’ve downloaded the PDF to your computer, you can select Yes for Display Local Help Content Only in the General Settings panel of the Adobe Help Manager. When you select Help from your product menu, the downloaded PDF is displayed.

  • Missing 9.0 help files

I still use the previous iMovie 9.0.9 rather than the most recent one. I've forgotten how to add titles to a video, so I went to the Help files, but they are for  iMovie 10.0.6.  How do I access Help for my preferred version?

  • Missing Mac OS Help files?

As much as I hate to admit that I sometimes need it, I can't access Mac Help. When I type in a question, the screen stays blank until I finally give up. Clicking on the home icon does bring up the Mac OS Help opening screen, but all of the links do nothing. Help files for other programs seem to work fine. If it matters, Mac Help hasn't worked since the day I got the computer. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
