Moving into a new c

Old compell XPS 550 mhs28 megs ram20 gig HD(pathetic i know)?NEW COMP!!!!!:homebuilt 2.4 ghz dual core2 gigs ram50 gig WD raptorTWO 750 gig Seagatesevga 8800 vid card?Players owned:? Nomad Jukebox 3 40gb, brand spanking new Zen Vision in transit on way to me.GF?owns a?Zen Microphoto. my problem/issue is that she no longer has her install CD. i need to know what software to download from this site to get my new comp to talk to it (send/recieve files from it). failing that i need to know how to manually move the already-installed "Zen MicroPhoto Media Explorer" from my old computer to the new one and have it work. i tried just copying the Creative software/files from the old comp's Program Files directory to the new comps one (they both have XP sp2) but that didnt work. so i assume i must update a system file or update the registry somehow in the new comp if i can't download Media Explorer here (I didnt see it in downloads). nomadness.net doesnt seem to have it either. (they did have Playcenter which talks to my old Jukebox 3. will playcenter recognize/communicate with her MicroPhoto?)? any help appreciated..-ToddMessage Edited by happyguy49 on 05-07-20070:03 AM

Hi Wenda,
This is likely a permission issue. Our Parameter prompts and dll's have dependencies on Java. Assuming this is a WEB app it's possible your browser is not allowing scripts to run or your local firewall of MS firewall, anti-virus etc. may be blocking your code from passing the values. Check the browser settings and try lowering the security to see if that works.
Thank you
Don

  • Moving into a new place

    Hi,
My friend and I are moving into a new flat and are attempting to get our utilities set up before we move in. How do I go about finding out if we have a Bt landline when I cannot get access to the property and do not have a known phone number for the premesis.
If there is no way to do that could you please tell me the conventional method of finding out so I can tell my letting agency as they do not seem to know ( appauling isn't it).
    Any help is appreciated,
    Cheers.

    Hi Tomkix,
I can check the address details for you to see if there is an active line. Please could you drop an email, to the email address found in my profile? Please make sure to include the address details and a link to this thread.
    Thanks

  • Just Moved into a new House, previous tenants took...

    Hi all,
I am just about to move into a new house and I believe the previous owners are going to take their phone number with them.
How do I go about getting my own phone number for the property, and does this cost any money?
If someone could let me know, that would be great.
    Thanks.

Telephone numbers aren't allocated to specific properties, getting a new number is easy.
Just pick which service provider you want, i.e. BT, Sky, TALK TALK, etc then call that company's sale team or if you can place the order online as they normally put the better deals online because it is cheaper for people to do that then phone their call centres.
In regards to cost, again that depends on what company you go with and if they have any offers on. Best thing to do there is shop around.

  • Moving into a New Build House

Despite booking the House Move Transfer 9 weeks before moving - yes NINE weeks - it has taken another four weeks for me to get an active line. Excuses from BT Retail, have in the main blame BT Openreach (i.e. no cables installed - yes there are!; not enough circuits in the exchange - Duh, there is substantial developments going on in the area, surely not a surprise; then the best of all, after arranging an appointment date, it was brought forward and it seemed impossible to put it back to the original date!!)
Anyway I have now a working phone line, the data usage on my mobile phone has melted, and a broadband connection which is currently running at around 300kB/s - yes that is 300kB/s. The upload speed is well over twice that at around 800kB. We are now well past the three days that BT advise is normal for the speed to get up to an "normal" level. BT Homehub 3 working well, networking the laptops, printer and smartphones well.
The Homehub is plugged into the master socket and I have done a restart, however I guess I will need to be patient, and maybe sometime I might have a usable boardband speed.

Second time - this time I appear to have a formatting available
"This took a while. The only way I could initially get onto the forum was by using my MobileWifi. Hooked back upto the HomeHub to get the details. Not sure about the formatting of the message, however it is a miracle I have managed to get it it this time."

  • Does a HDTV need to be present during install? (I'm moving into a new place).

    Hello,
I won't have my HDTV until later in the week but my FIOS install is on Monday.
Does the tech absolutely require a TV? Or can I just bring my TV in later, plug in the HDMI and start watching.
    Thanks.

You can have the TV connected later, but it's always a risk.  With a TV the tech can confirm proper operation before they leave.

  • Moved into New Build in August - still no phone li...

I know from reading various forums online that ours is not a unique problem but I'm not sure how it can be resolved. In a nutshell we moved into our new build home at the beginning of August. Once we had received confirmation of the completion date I placed my order with BT for a new phone line. I was advised that it would probably be easier to sort out the phone first and then add on broad band when that was done. My order was placed on 31 July. I was told an engineer would attend on 20 August to connect us up. So far so simple but then it all goes wrong. I check online and the engineer should be with me between 8 and 1. That's all fine. I'm working but my husband will be in as he is on a late shift. Come 12.30 no sign of the engineer and now my husband is concerned that if the engineer does show up, he will need to leave for work before the work is done. I call BT from work - I'm told that the engineer is en route but that he's been delayed. My husband and I therefore agree that I will leave work at lunchtime and be in should the engineer arrive in the afternoon. I call up again in the afternoon - I'm told that there is no engineer en route, I should never have been told that. The connection is delayed because of some outstanding works that need to be done. Thus begins the series of lies and untruths that lead us here. I am told time and time again that works will be done by X date, only to receive a text message telling me that it is not possible to provide the update and that BT will contact me again in due course. Then begins the passing of blame - BT tell me that my developer hasn't completed all the ground works, my developer tells me they have and that it is Open Reach who are delaying. This goes on for many weeks and many phone calls. Eventually I'm told that there is to be a meeting between my site manager and Open Reach on the site on Monday 28 October. Surprise surprise Open Reach fail to attend. Not only that, but they they refuse to reschedule despite requests from the site manager. There is clearly a communication issue here - my developer tells me they have done all they need to do. They are therefore not going to do anything else as they don't know what they need to do. The meeting would at least (one hopes) have cleared that up. I have called BT today and been told that a site surveyor is attending our site on Friday but it seems no one has bothered to tell the site manager (obviously I have passed this on and asked him to call to check arrangements).
So here we are many weeks on and still no phone line. I don't feel like I am getting any sort of proper answer from BT about what the issue is and of course Open Reach won't deal with me direct.
Given the number of discussions about this on various forums, does anyone have any advice or tips on how to resolve this. I know it seems like a small issue but it is starting to impact on us. For example we had some bad news in August that required making numerous overseas calls which we had to make on our mobiles. It really is beyond a joke now and I cannot see that it will be resolved this year!

  • Moved into new flat

I've recently moved into a new flat. The previous tenants were with BT and as far as I can tell, they moved out fairly recently. I've attached a landline phone and there's still a dialtone, but I can't make outside calls. I want to take over the phoneline and had hoped that it would be quite a simple process, but this doesn't seem to be the case!
-The first person I called said I needed a completely new phone line installed and it would cost me £170 (unless I took a broadband deal and an 18-month contract, neither of which I'm that eager to do).
-The second person I called said they can reactivate the phone line, but that this would require an engineer visit, and it would cost me £30. I made it clear at the beginning of the call that as I'm working full-time and living alone, I could only really have a visit at the weekend. We went through the very lengthy process of making the order, then after I'd given my bank details, he mentioned that there were no weekend slots available at all, ever. I asked if the engineer would certainly need access to my property, because I'd read on the website that this is something that's not automatically required, especially if there's no damage to the line and there's a dialtone. He couldn't really give me an answer on that, and said there's no guarantee that he won't need access to the property.
All a bit of a mess really! I basically only want broadband, I'm not too fussed about a landline. I'm quite confused about the whole thing too, as it seems that the account was stopped but the phone line has not yet been deactivated. Does anyone have any advice on what I should do? Preferably something not involving engineer visits, as I'm not keen on taking time off during the week!

If they were with BT, then line activation normally is done via software, and no visit is needed.
You can find out the number by dialling 1470 17070. If its a BT number then a voice will read it out to you.
You can tell BT the number, and they should be able to activate it for you, once credit checks have been done.
They may have had a BT line, but paying another provider for their calls. If that is the case, then it may take a bit longer.

  • Moving home but not moving into house straight awa...

     Hi
I am moving out of rented accommodation soon and will not be moving into my new house straight away. I currently have a phone/broadband/vision package that has been running for 6 months. I can't find any paperwork from BT to say how long my contracts are set for. My question is can I cancel the services at my old address and then wait a month or so before having them put on at my new address (while still paying)? (although I would like to cancel Vision as we have not watched it for 4 months). If not I am going to have to cancel all the services and I would not like to know how much that will be.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
      Cheers
          Steve

The early termination charges are here: http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/dynamicmodules/pagecontentfooter/pageContentF...
You'd have to add up all the charges for each of the services.

  • How do I import an iPhoto Library  (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.

How do I import an iPhoto Library  (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.

So what exactly did you copy over? If it's a 12 gig iPhoto Library then it sounds like the files are there. Perhaps the copy went wrong along the way.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Moved into new house

This is the tale of my house moving saga!
Moved into house on the 16th July, previous house owners cancelled there BT line on the same day.
On the Monday I engaged a company called TitanADSL as they were my previous broadband supplier that had stated to me that they could arrange for a new number and give me an all in one package, of which up until then I had no complaints with there service.
I was given a go live date of Tuesday 27th July, On the Tuesday I received a phone call telling me that there was no spare capacity at the cabinet! and that a new line would have to be delivered to the cabinet.
Was told this would be done by end of play Wed, Thursday evening another phone call, now this one said that a BT line engineer has ordered a new line but there is not ETA and this could take weeks to resolve.
Has anyone else heard of this? or am I being fed a load of ....... (you can fill in the blanks  )

    This is quite common.
With the network being set up many years ago there are areas where there is a shortage of line plant.
Broadband has made this problem worse as you need an individual line for it to be provided and you can't share the line as with standard PSTN.
It can take weeks or dare I say months for additional line plant to be provided.  It's all to do with the network in your area and the pressure on available lines.
If somebody near to you ceased a line then you could be given that line when it becomes available.

  • Moving an mp3 into the new iTunes 11.0.1?

I have tried tragging the mp3 into iTunes, I have used the "Add to Library..." in the File menu and "Import Playlist" in the File Menu - Library. None of these worked.
The only way I have found to move an mp3 into the new version of iTunes 11 is to put it on a track in Garageband and Share it to iTunes. This is too labour intensive. Are others finding that the "Add to Library..." isn't working?
The mp3 is a recording of a friend's voice so I know that copyright infringements are not involved.
    Thanks.

I was also having this problem, any file I added was not showing up in my library.  Go to Itunes, preferenced, advanced and notice where your Itunes media folder is being directed to.  When you find it, quit itunes, and delete the Itunes folder **BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR MUSIC SOMEWHERE ELSE**
then relaunch and try to add them, this worked for me.

  • Moved into new flat - How do i find out what the t...

I've just moved into a leased flat as a tenant and there is a BT box on the wall.
I'm looking to setup broadband etc but all providers require the telephone number at the property.  Is there any way to find this out?
I don't have a phone plugged in atthe moment so i'm assuming no dial tone etc.

Don`t assume there is no dial-tone, as quite often the line is simply "stopped".
Plug a phone in, and if there is dial tone, then dial 1470 17070.
If you are lucky it will give you the number.
You may however wish to ask for a different number, just in case the previous tenant, had problems.
If its not a BT line, you may get a different message.

  • Moving several events into a new calendar...

I am consolidating several different databases and now have too many overlapping calendars in iCal. I'd like to be able to select a dozen or more events in one calendar and move then into another calendar, so I don't need to go into each event individually and change them. Is there a way to do this?
    Thank you!
