Officeject 7500A: Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax

I get the following error message: "Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax", whenever I try to do any of these operations.
I already did a semi-full reset. And a normal reset (remove from the plug, wait for an hour, and return it).
And I can't connect the printer directly to the outlet, because it supplies 220V (as in the european standard) and the printer operates on 110V, thus I have an adapter that must be connected.
The problem was not solved.
Are there any suggestions for solving the problem? Can a full-full reset help (and if yes, then how can I do that reset)?
Best,
Yuval

Boy, does this story sound familiar.  After some research and considering the fact that good quality photos are important, we purchased the HP 3310 a little over 3 years ago.  This certainly was not the cheapest all-in-one unit available.  Thank God we purchased the extended warranty from Best Buy.  Roughly 7 months after purchase, we could no longer copy, scan or fax -- same message you received.  We returned the unit to Best Buy and they promptly replaced it with a new one.  We were offered as a replacement any printer of our choice up to the purchase price of the 3310. Second mistake:  we chose to replace the unit with another HP 3310.   Guess what -- a few days after expiration of our extended warranty, we received the same message again and could no longer copy, scan or fax.  As it was out of warranty by this time, we examined the unit carefully and found that the light carriage bar that scans was out of alignment and stuck there.  We removed the 2 screws holding the scanner bed and were able to squeeze a hand far enough under the glass to re-align the scanner bar.  It still would not work.  We thought it was broken and turned it off.  Much to our surprise, next time we turned it on, it worked...until, that is, we tried to use the reduce/enlarge function and it repeated the malfunction.  We have since determined that the reduce/enlarge function creates the problem.  As long as we do not use the reduce/enlarge function, the printer continues to copy, scan and fax. We are going to replace this printer, but there is an old saying..."Once a fool, shame on you; twice a fool, shame on me."  The replacement will surely not be an HP product.

  • Officejet 7610 unable to scan, copy or send faxes

My 3 days old officejet 7610 is @unable to scan, copy or send faxes' I parted with almost £200 to buy this to prepare for a very important job inteview next week. having followed some dicussions, I am sure somebody out there will help me today.
I have spent all the 3 days without sleep trying to fix this but to no effect.
    thanks.

    Hi AndyKali11,
I understand you have an Officejet 7610 that is telling you it is currently unable to scan, copy or fax. I'm sorry to hear this and will do my best to assist you.
Essentially this error is telling you that the scanner itself itsn't functioning properly. I would suggest you start by following this A 'Scanner Failure' Message Displays on the All-in-One Control Panel and You Cannot Scan, Copy, or F... document and make sure to plug the printer directly to a wall outlet.
If this error persists I believe it may be a hardware defect inside the printer. In that case you can exchange the printer at the store, or contact HP Tech Support for your area and inquire about an in warranty replacement.
Hope this helps, have a great weekend!!

    Hello ang31,

  • HP M1136 unable to scan & photocopy due to showing busy

Unable to scan & copying due to showing BUSY

Hi , I see that you are having issues scanning and copying, you are getting the error message "Busy". I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue today.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation. I will send you another step to try in a private message.
In the forum beside your handle name just click on the envelope to view it. If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below. Thank You.

  • 5180c unable to scan and send to computer

I have HP Photosmart Printer and am unable to scan and send to my computer. I used to, but am unable to. How can I fix it?

    Hello @Foxglove77,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the issue that you're experiencing when attempting to scan documents to your Windows 7 computer from your HP Photosmart C5180 All-in-One Printer.
To start troubleshooting I am going to have you download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool. This Tool will run on your computer and 'fix scanning' issues for you. Should any driver, software, or connection conflicts be found than the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool will attempt to resolve those conflicts for you. Please click here to download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool.
Once the Tool completes, please test scanning again. Should the issue persist, please take note of any error messages.
If you do happen to see the message 'No Scan Options' when you attempt to scan from the front panel, please click here. Once the support document opens select the dropdown for 'How to scan with HP Software'. Next, click on 'Set up scan settings'. Lastly, select 'Control panel button settings' . Please use these instructions to reconfigure your front panel scan options. Once your scan settings have been reconfigured, please test scanning from the front panel again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

  • Unable to scan (internal error)

    Hi Apple Have a question,
I am trying to create a bootable partition on my external firewire Hard Drive for Leopard OS.
First I created .dmg file : "Mas OS X DVD.dmg"
2nd > after creating the dmg file - I ran "Scan image restore" on the DMG file
3rd > after running completing both steps above the system generates this error message:
"Unable to scan "Mac OS X install Dvd.dmg" (internal error).
According to my research, before installing Leopard on to an external hard drive as a bootable partition, the dmg file must be scanned before completing the process.
However, the scan is not working. Can someone shed some light on how I can
    get this off the ground.
    Again:
The object is to create a bootable partition of leopard on to my external hard drive for
Technical maintenance support of my computers.
Please send me your solution or thoughts

Sorry, no Apple here, only other users. That said, I have no idea of what you're trying to do. If you want to make a bootable partition, all you have to do is install the software onto the partition. Alternatively, you can put a bootable backup/clone of your current boot volume onto it using Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!. BTW, the error indicates that the .dmg file you created is corrupt.

  • Unable to scan and communicate with scan function C6180 Vista Home Premium 64 bit Printing works

I have an all in one C6180 Photosmart connected by wireless network (infrastructure). Network consists of 2-laptops, 1-Desktop and the printer.  Everything works from HP solution Center on the Compaq laptop and the Dell desktop both running Windows XP. My newest laptop is a Dell studio XPS core2   2.4ghz running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I am unable to scan from the Dell Laptop using HP Solution Center nor can I scan from the printer buttons to the laptop. Solution Center opens I select "scan document" and immediately get an error message "unable to communicate with scanning device. Likewise with the copy function.  The laptop does recognize the printer though and I am able to print wirelessly.  All functions work when connected via USB so I believe the printer is fine.  I have been working with this problem since I bought the printer in 2007. I spent many hours reading hundreds of internet posts, talking by phone with HP and via e-mail support from HP.  I became frustrated and gave up for awhile but now I want to see if there are any new solutions that I don't know about. I downloaded full feature software and drivers for the 6180 from HP and performed various levels of uninstall (L1, L2, L3, L4). I also cleaned the registry with ccleaner, windows disk cleanup and manual registry deletions when allowed per HP. I have checked port settings, tried stopping HP functions is Services.Msc. The Digital monitor is currently running, however no scanner communication-computer to 6180 and no scanner communication 6180 to computer. I can print and fax from computer wirelessly. I have ran the HP diagnostic utility separately and it appears everything is fine, connection IPaddress etc. During install when prompted to run test it says the printer is connected to the network. I have tried to add a device to the network after install and get the message no wireless devices found. The scanner does not appear under Cameras and Scanners in control panel. Nor will it find the scanner when I try to add device. Firewalls and antivirus have been turned off. Still can't make it work. Suggestions please.

Sorry about your pain.  L3 uninstall is what I recommend.  Re-install from hp.com and this time, with the printer properly attached it should flow OK.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Unable to scan to HP 8600 after Mavericks update

I am unable to scan to my HP 8600 Officejet Pro since updating to Mavericks 10.9.4. It keeps telling me that it can't open a session. I have reset the printing system and downloaded and installed the printer drivers but still get the same response. I have tried using the USB connection and wireless.
Before updating the Mavericks software, the Mac and the printer communicated with no problems. The printer works fine but cannot get the scanner to respond at all. After searching the web, all I can find is that HP are responsible for correcting the glitch but can't get a response from either HP nor Apple and have now become totally frustrated with the whole thing.

I have the same problem. I was trying to upgrade my 3G iPhone to 4.1 and ran into problems. Then I did a right-click "Restore on my iPhone in iTunes and halfway in it just says "cannot restore this iPhone" or something to that effect and then a message pops up asking if you want to send the info to Apple and that's it!
    Need help too!

  • Disk Utility: after creating the .DMG (compressed image) When "scan image for restore" finishes it displays "unable to scan (internal error)". Since the process was scanning for about 1 hr is this a fake warning?

External 500GB drive is partitioned with 400GB for Mac OS extended (journalling) and 2nd partition formatted today as "ExFAT".
Yesterday I tried to create a disk image of my HD to no avail - this was compressed on a FAT partition. I got a warning after running the <scan image for restore> saying "unable to scan (internal error)"
I rang Apple support who suggested formatting a partition as MAC OS extended (journalling) and choose to save the image as "read/write'. The image process stopped writing at about 200GB and then the file size jumped to 499GB (ie the size of the HD). But the process did nothing for about an hour so I foce quit disk utility (as suggested by apple support)
My current attempt was to format the external drive again; this time with a 400GB Mac OS extended (journal) format; plus a 100GB ExFAT format partition. The new image was created after about 2.5hrs with a compressed size of 149GB. However, after running the "scan image for restore" facility I got the warning message "unable to scan filename " (internal error). The process was scanning the image file according to the progress bar - this took about hour - thus the warning is a puzzle.
If anyone can say more about this error I would really appreciate knowing tips for using disk utility. The screen grab is below.
"unable to scan filename " (internal error)
    thanks

Thanks for a quick reply <baltwo>. You’ve answered that it is not a fake message!
fyi: I thought that I would use my external Buffalo for two purposes; namely the smaller ExFAT partition for copying stuff to my win7 netbook. The larger partition was to be used as my imac image of SL. So this was my first attempt at using disk utility - the idea being to hold an image backup at another location. Plus I now have the Lion thumbdrive ready to upgrade from SL and so being cautious wanted to have a SL image backup
Anyway I followed the apple instructions using my mac 10.6.3 install DVD but it would appear from other discussions that <unable to scan (internal error)> is not unique to me.
I’ll get back to apple telephone support for further advice.
I would though be grateful for an “idiots’ guide to making an image backup of my internal HD that runs SL 10.6.8
eg should I have just one partition on the external USB drive? format it as Mac OS extended? create the image as compressed or read/write? Basically I’ll do whatever will work!!
    thanks again

have misplaced the original installtion CD. have dowloaded from HP the complete program. I am able to print documents from pc, however, unable to scan as I have no ico or possibility to access the printer from PC.  My initial installtion had a page that came up that asked what you wanted to do, scan, print, copy or fax. • Unable to scan and email to hotmail

yesterday i did a disk clean up not sure if this is related to this or not. i always scan, save and email to hotmail. Today it i an scan but when i try to send to hotmail address it says error unable to receive or send messages to hotmail. What is wrong?? Thanks

Hi , Based on your description, unable to scan to hotmail, I suspect the issue is related to the Browser or your Microsoft settings. HP scan is not designed to scan to web mail, so I am not sure how much help I can be, but I will happily do all I can to assist you. What Browser are you using? Once you have determined your browser and version, please click the appropriate link below for instructions to clear your cache and cookies. Internet Explorer 11

  • I  need to scan docs and send by email

I need to copy the steps to scan docs and send them by email.   I scanned 1 doc and my computer indicated it was sent to Adobe Acrobat pro 9 bur I couldn't find it to email.  I only have a medium need right now@@@

Best to do --- open the Scanner software user manual (one comes with a scanner and the software you have to install).
As well, review Acrobat's Help re: Scanning.
Doing these two things the best way to ensure that most times most scanning you do is understood by you.

  • Failure to scan, copy, and fax for HP Officejet 4500

I am trying to scan with my HP Officejet 4500 and it is not allowing me to do so. When I turn on the printer it says "Scanner Failure. Cannot scan, copy, or fax". When I try to scan, I have the wireless option to send it to my computer and when I select my computer, nothing happens and it takes me back to scan, copy, fax menu.  I have tried installing and reinstalling and unistalling too many times. I have also unplugged all wires. Nothing is working. I have had mutiple problems with this printer and it is not even a month old. How do I fix this issue.

My best advice to give in regards to trusting HP may be a little biased (as I have always had good luck with electronics).  So with any new printer, remember that when deciding to purchase anything, I avoid the cheapest and the most expensive item, regardless of the product or the manufacturer (because they are usually the most fragile).  A good mid-priced reliable printer that I absolutely adore for its durability is the Officejet 6700 because it has all the great functionality of an expensive unit, affordable ink like for cheaper printers, and you still get the free one year warranty.  That is simply my opinion as I do not get paid to sell anything. I hope this helps you.  Best of luck with your decision.  May any printer you choose bring you many successful years of printing.
