Ops Center - reportdb problem

I have problem starting OPS Center services. Ops Center is not coming online as scn/repordb is in the maintenance state. svcadm clear scn/reportdb too doesnt work.
Did stop / start of agentadm, proxyadm and satadm server times, but no use. OCDoctor.sh is not reporting any specific error.
Any help is welcome.

Hi,
it's not really possible to analyze your problem with this level of information, whats the output of:
# svcs -xv
# svcs -l reportdb:default
# tail /var/svc/log/application-scn-reportdb:default.log
And did you try a restart the whole satellite:
# /opt/SUNWxvmoc/bin/satadm stop -w
# /opt/SUNWxvmoc/bin/satadm start -w
Have you already consulted Oracle support?

  • Configuring email alerts in Ops Center

    Hi all,
I have been struggling quite a while to get email alerts working from Ops Center with no success in 11g nor 12c. In the Ops Center GUI, Administration -> EC -> Local Users -> configured user to receive all alerts and emails. I have also configured email relay host correctly(checked a million times).
Sending emails from the host through the email relay works fine, so I'm baffled.
    #mailx -s " Test from Ops Center" "my.email@work" < text-file
Do I need to configure something else in Ops Center or what am I missing here?

The email alerts from Ops Center are working for me, I performed...
    1.) You must be able to send email from the command line on the Enterprise Controller to the intended email address, ie;
    # mailx -v [email protected]
Subject: Email test from Enterprise Controller
    EOT
    <control-d>
That test must be successful, and the email received!
2.) Setup the Notification Profile in the BUI...
Administration > Enterprise Controller > Users
Highlight the root user, select Configure Notification Profile (the wrench icon)
Notifications via >> Subscribe to All Notifications
User Interface > "Problem updates and all Severities"
Email: > "Problem updates and all Severities"

    Port: <blank>
    Mail User: root
Mail Password: <enter the password for root on the EC>
    Connection Security: STARTTLS
    Select: Update Notification Profile
3.) Go to Assets > Operating System (second level down) of some Asset
In the center pane select the "Monitoring" tab
Under "Threshold Monitoring Rules" highlight "Memory Usage Percentage"
Edit Alert Monitoring Rule Parameters (the pencil)
    Monitor for alert limits continuously
Toggle: Generate Alert after 1 Minute
    Change Critical MemoryUsage.usedMemoryPercentage > 2%
    Change Warning MemoryUsage.usedMemoryPercentage > 1%

  • Ops Center 12c Java API - Any tutorials?

I'm trying to figure out how to extract alert information from the Ops Center server, using the Java API. I have the API package installed, but other than the javadocs, I don't see any information on how to use it.
I found this, but the examples it gives aren't useful to me.

... After some troubleshoot steps, we detected that the both OVM Managers has the same UUID (install 1rt OVM Manager and clone it to deploy the 2nd OVM Manager). Because this the Ops Center has problem to configure the second OVM Manager. To fix it the following steps were performed:
    - uninstall OVM Manager
    - remove file /etc/sysconfig/ovmm
    - install OVM Manager
    - import config (server pool, VM, etc...)
To prevent this issue (false job status), Ops Center could return a error in the discovery job saying that there is already another OVMM with same UUID...

  • Console redirection not working when ILOM is launched from Ops Center.

    Hi,
I just installed Ops Center and added a few servers as assets. I'm having trouble to get console redirection when I start LOM Manager from within Ops Center.
If I point my browser and login directly to a server's ILOM web interface, I get console redirection without problems. If I do it through the "Start LOM Manager" option in Ops Center, I get an error message: "Cannot launch Java application" when I try to start redirection.
    Is this normal behavior?
    Thank you for your help.

Do you mean the 'Launch LOM console" from Action pane? If so, check your java version on the PC/laptop you are accessing OC from.
    What is your OC version?
I am not finding any issue in accessing the ILOM console.

  • Unable to activate ASR for an asset in Ops Center

While activating an asset in ASR it gets failed. There was a case opened with Oracle but they suggested to Re-install Oracle Ops Center . Is there any alternate method to solve this issue .
The problem was that a host was added a long time ago with another IP address and it was not removed . After chanign the IP it is unable to recognise the asset and activate ASR. Is there any option to remove the old conflicting entry of the asset .
    Thanks/Regards
    Mohammed Sadiq

    Hello Mohamed,
This question is complex. There are 2 sides :
#1  one is the cleanup of the asset with wrong IP
#2  the other is the ASR activation problem
For issue #1 , to do the cleanup we need a jmxdump to understand the level of the cleanup that needs to be done. This would need to be worked in the case you have.
About the ASR issue #2, the activation fails because it is trying to activate a wrong formatted serial number
"ERROR The assets serial number ({0}) was not found in your CSI(s)"
So we would need more debug traces. I would suggest you create new SR if you don't have one already.
Please ask the SR owner to engage me if you want we discuss about it.

  • How do I configure a basic LDAP to work with OPS Center?

I have Solaris 11 and have configured it a few ways with LDAP. The last setup I used Directory server with a proxy then added LDAP configs. I am having problem getting the clients working correctly but first I need to know if I can just configure LDAP without DSEE and allow OPS Center to control the users?
Chapter 9 of the Oracle Solaris Administration guide says DSEE is recommended but not required and points you to chapter 14. But I have been unable to figure out how to create the DN and Bind PW prior to configuring LDAP with IDSCONFIG. The OPS Center server is already in play so if configured correctly I should be able to talk to the LDAP server.
Does anyone know what set I am missing or whether it can be done without DSEE?

After contacting Oracle I was informed that there Documentation is misleading and that DSEE is required.
    From Oracle
"The statement "However, while using the Oracle Directory Server Enterprise Edition is recommended, it is not required", does not mean you can configure the Solaris native ldap client without a Directory Server. What the statement means is the Solaris native ldap client is not required to use the Oracle Directory Server, it is recommended, but the Solaris native ldap client can be setup to work with third party Directory Servers. The term "not required" is a reference to the use of the Oracle Directory Server vs a third party Directory Server."
The documentation does not state that Directory Server of any kind is required.

  • EM12c , Ops Center plugin missing ?

I recently installed EM12c and I'm following the manual to get the plugin for "Ops Center Infrastructure Stack".
The problem is that there is no "Ops Center Infrastructure Stack" in the list? Is there something I need to do first ? Is there a way I can download the plugin from somewhere else ?
    From the manual
Download the Plug-in From the Enterprise Manager Store
This procedure assumes that you are connected to the Internet and describes how to download the plug-in immediately. Alternatively, you can choose to schedule the download to occur at a specified time.
From the Setup menu, click Extensibility, then click Self Update to get the list of updates.
    Click Plug-in from the list.
Select Ops Center Infrastructure Stack from the list, then click Download.
Select Immediately, then click Select to start downloading the update.
When the download is complete, plug-in deployment page is displayed.

    thanks, I found it !
Also, this morning, the plugin is suddenly available for download in the extensibility > plugins page. This after the auto-update job ran successfully last night (there's a large number of new plugins available). So it does seem that when the manual says the plugin is included with 12c, they meant to say, the plugin is available with 12c after running the auto update job.

  • Ops center agents

We were recently told that in order to use Ops center to monitor our servers we would have to buy the ops center licenses for each server we want to monitor at $3000/server.  Really? Ops center free but you can't do anything with it except admire it's interface?

    Hi user8675293,
If you have a "Oracle Premier Support for Systems" (hw and sw contract) or "Oracle Premier Support for Operating Systems" (Solaris/sw contract), don't have any problem. You can download and use Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center to manage their covered Oracle systems at no additional cost.

  • Does Ops Center 12c Release 1 PSU2 (update 2) work with T4 and solaris 11.1

From the release notes of Ops Center 12c Release 1 PSU2 (update 2)
Issues With Upgrading to Oracle Solaris 11.1
Oracle Solaris 11.1 is supported in Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12.1.2.0.0 but is not supported in prior versions of Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center. In addition, an issue with Oracle Solaris 11.1 prevents Oracle VM Server for SPARC management on Oracle SPARC T4 servers using the Oracle Solaris 11.1 OS. See the Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center Release Notes for more information.
Does any one know if there has been a fix for this yes

We were told this was actually a problem in OC not S11.1, and this was fixed in U2.
I know this contradicts with the other answer, but thats the info we received from Oracle.

  • Ops Center Console V 11.1.0.1571 shows latest downloads as .1536

I installed a clean/fresh copy of Ops Center Enterprise Manager which showed me v11.1.0.1536 and the ran then downloaded and ran the console upate to bring the system to 11.1.0.1571. The issue I'm having is that when I'm in the console, click on "Ops Center Downloads" the downloads displayed are for 11.1.0.1536. If I check the "Show Older Updates" box I can see thre newer versions .1549, .1559, and .1571
The console is installed on Oracle Linux v 5.5
The original instal was performed using the .1536 package from e-delivery in a command shell
The .1571 update was installed using a download from e-delivery and applied in a command shell
It acts like the versioning database is out of sync.
When I attempt to deploy/push the proxy the ProxyProvPrecheck passes but the copy fails in ProxyProvProvision. Is that because the files aren't on the local system?
I have downloaded both the .1536 and .1571 versions using the console and the error continues. We tested (completely different system) with .1536 and the deployment worked.
    Any ideas?
    TIA!

We decided to deploy the agent manually and discovered that the installer had several coding errors. For example, it stopped because it needed at least Solaris version 10u3 installed. The installed OS was 10u10....
I think that may have been the deployment issue.
The console issue has changed. Once I was able to installe the agent on the console the problem changed, noe the ops center downloads show.
    Without Show Older Updates Checked
    Ver .1571 SPARC. .1559 SPARC, .1549 SPARC, .1536 x86, .1536 SPARC, .1536 Linux x86
With the check it shows all 3 item of all 3 versions

  • Performance report in ops center.

It is possible to create performance reports in ops center like PRM module in SunMC is doing for CPU Usage, Disk, Memory, Network.. etc.. ?
    Thanks
    Antonio

    Hi Antonio,
You can also look at the Halcyon Neuron Performance Manager (http://www.halcyoninc.com/products/PerformanceManager/index.php). It hooks into Ops Center and/or SunMC to automate a lot of the reports (on top of what Ops Center provides out-of-the-box).
Note: I work for Halcyon, but part of my day job is also deploying and configuring Ops Center, so I hope this post is considered relevant.
