Performed illegal operation in Setup.exe

Downloading firefox 4, when extraction was about ended, the message "the profram has performed an illgal operation and will be shut down." It did shut downand the download was not completed.

It is critical when using ActiveX to control Excel that you close every Automation Reference used throughout your application in the reverse order in which they were created. If you don't, Excel will hang or crash.
If you create references to the Application, Workbook, Worksheet, Range and then a Cell, after you are done with the Cell, close the references to the Cell, Range, Worksheet, Workbook and Application. If you need access to the Worksheet later, keep the rest open until you are done with them.

  • Labview 7 Express performs Illegal Operation

    Hi,
I have a Labview application to control a small diesel engine. The program runs and controls everything in the right way, but after about 5 hours of operation the program crashes and shuts down. As the program also controlls the throttle and dynamometer in the engine system, everything is shut down once the programs crashes. The error message that I get is in the attachment. Thank you very much for your help on this issue. Peter Perez

    Peter,
This sounds like a memory access violation error.  A page fault is generated when errors occur while
moving pages in between your system memory and virtual memory.  What all is in your code?  Are you doing anything
with ActiveX?  Is the application an executable?  What hardware are you using?  Have you tried running this application on another computer?  What other software do you have on your system?  Is this
a very large application?  What are the specs of your system?  How much virtual memory have you allocated?
Just a few guiding questions that might help determine were this page fault is generated.
    Thanks,
    Nathan

  • A problem when install oracle personal 8i --"jrew perform illegal operation"?

seems something wrong. but i can't figure out.
can u please tell me how to correct it?

For me, I will stop all the Oracle's system services from <Administrative tools> <services>.
    And then,
    1. Delete all the Oracle's directories. if I have it on a seperate drive, format it.
    2. Go to registry editor by typint regedit /HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ click on the ORACLE folder and delete it including sub-folder entries.
    3. Go to registry editor /HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services find all the Oracle's system services and delete them.
    4. Remove the directory from C:\Programs Files\Oracle on Oracle's Inventory stuff etc ...
It is my fastest way to uninstall everything and start a fresh install.
I figure it out myself and it's not official to remove it. So, take it as your own risk (but, it should work).

  • CTplay2 has performed an illegal operation when trying to rip a track from a cd into Playcent

I have had Creative Playcenter for about three years with no problems until a week ago.
I was surfing the Internet and while on one webpage, I had the Playcenter
playing a playlist, the computer locked up after I tried to close a pop up ad. After rebooting, the Playcenter lost the list of tracks, it had the albums and artist lists, yet the track list showed "0". I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and reloaded
the tracks from the Nomad and now I am unable to rip tracks from cd's. I am able to convert existing wave files ripped from other cd ripping software yet cannot use the Creative Playcenter rip and convert feature without encountering this illegal operation message then it shuts it down. It's able to create the file where the mp3's are stored, but unable to tranfer the MP3 to it. No other changes have been made to my computer either. I just hope that I do not have to do a dreaded format and reinstall to fix this.
I really like this Creative product since I have had it have not had any problems with either the Nomad Jukebox or the software until the Internet surfing incident about a week ago

This error occurs when I try to rip a cd track into the Play Center. I have tried to repair from the disc with the anti virus disabled and while reinstalling another error message appears "scandir has caused an illegal operation" during the reinstall.

Also I forgot to mention in my first post, I have added some extra system sounds to my computer and that may have contributed to the problem of it freezing up at the time I clicked on the pop up ad in order to close it out. Some of the sounds activate during "restore up" and "minimize", the sounds or other Windows sounds do not activate while Playcenter is in use.

  • How can I use a setup.exe file on my mac

I am attempting to download a demo software on my mac. It uses a setup.exe and I am unable to make it execute. I do have microsoft office on my mac.

You need to be running Windows to use that software:
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
    1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
    2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
    5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
    6. Last is Q.  Q is a freeware emulator that is compatible with Intel Macs.  It is much slower than the virtualization software, Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

Oracle Universal Installer (OUI) for RDBMS 8.1.x Hangs on Machines with Pentium 4 Processors ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Versions Affected ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oracle Universal Installer version 1.7.1.9.0 and earlier versions (bundled with products in 8.1.X CD packs). Platforms Affected ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Any platform that uses the Intel Pentium 4 processor with Sun JRE and Symantec JIT will encounter this problem. Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows 98 and NetWare operating systems are confirmed to be affected. Description ~~~~~~~~~~~ The Oracle Universal Installer hangs when installing Oracle 8.1.x Server and Client products on machines that use Sun JRE and Symantec JIT. Likelihood of Occurrence ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Any Oracle Universal Installer 1.7.1.9.0 and earlier installation on a platform that uses the Intel Pentium 4 processor, with the Sun JRE and Symantec Just in Time Library (JIT) will encounter this problem. Possible Symptoms ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The failure is manifested in these ways: - The affected application simply terminates. - The installer hangs, quits, dies or disappears. - The hourglass appears, disappears and nothing else happens. Fix ~~~ 1. Obtain the OUI application (~15.3MBs) under patch number 1507768 in Metalink: a. Click Patches button b. Enter 1507768 in the Patch Number field c. Click Submit d. Download the patch 2. Unzip the patch to a temporary directory. 3. Uncompress the resulting Jar file (~20MBs). 4. Navigate to the following subdirectory under the temporary directory where the patch was unzipped and rename symcjit.dll cd <temporary_directory>\Disk1\stage\Components\oracle.swd.jre\1.1.7.30\1\DataFiles\Expanded\jre\win32\bin Rename symcjit.dll to symcjit.dll.old 5. Navigate to: cd\Disk1\install\win32 6. Run the setup.exe program from the current directory and install the OUI to your hard disk. 7. Use/Invoke this installed OUI from Start menu > Programs, to install Oracle 8.1.x and related products. Workarounds ~~~~~~~~~~~ Workaround 1: 1. Create a temporary directory on your server. 2. Copy the entire contents of the Oracle RDBMS Server CD to the temporary directory created in step 1. 3. Search the directory structure created in Step 1 for the existence of the filename symcjit.dll. 4. Rename each copy of the symcjit.dll to symcjit.old. 5. Run the setup.exe from the install\win32 directory (under the directory on your hard disk used in Step 1) and install Oracle 8.1.x and related products. Workaround 2: If you continue to experience any of the symptoms after performing Workaround 1, follow these steps: 1. Copy the contents of the \install directory on your CD-ROM to a temporary directory on your hard disk. 2. Search for all copies of the 'symcjit.dll' file both in and under the directory from Step 1, and rename them to 'symcjit.old'. 3. Navigate to the directory you created in Step 1, and open the 'oraparam.ini' file for editing. Please note this file is write-protected, and the properties of the file must be changed to allow writing before editing. 4. Change the JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS parameter to JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS=-nojit -ms64m -mx128m 5. Save the oraparam.ini file. 6. Navigate to the win32 subdirectory, under the directory you usedin Step 1, and run the setup.exe program. If you have tried Workarounds 1 and 2 and still experience problems, please do the following: Workaround 3: 1. Navigate to: Start> Settings > Control Panel > System 2. Select the "Advanced" tab 3. Click the "Environment Variables" button 4. Highlight the PATH entry and click "Edit..." 5. Copy down the current PATH setting. 6. Remove any entries that refer to previous JRE directories Note: Care should be taken when editing the system path. Incorrect edits can prevent Windows or other applications from starting properly. 7. If any entries were removed, repeat Workaround 1 or 2. Patches ~~~~~~~ Patch 1507768 is available on Metalink, and should be installed using the Fix section of this article. • CS4 Master Collection/Windows 7 Broken Setup.exe

Yesterday I made the jump from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Beta--everything carried over nicely except for my CS4 Master Collection. Upon booting Premiere Pro up, I was informed that my "trial" had expired--a fact which I knew was not true as I own retail. I figured that uninstalling and re installing would solve my problem, but when I rebooted the setup, the installer would install about 15% of the complete package before giving me an error and closing.
After this, I read through some forums and learned that I needed to run CS4Cleanup from Adobe to reinstall the programs; I installed both the CS4Cleanup and the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (the Windows Installer Cleanup was needed for the Adobe Cleanup to work) and ran the CS4Cleanup successfully.
However...when I attempted to run the Setup.exe after the cleanup, the initial Setup gets to about 80% and then informs me that the "setup encountered an error and cannot continue" and then closes on me. Since using the WIndows and Adobe Cleanups, I am now worse off then I was before! Does anyone have any suggestions/solutions?

Hopefully you were not even thinking about using a beta release of an operating system for production work! Even Microsoft warns you about that! And even more so, you should not even attempt to do an "in place" operating system "upgrade" (something that has never worked particularly well with any Microsoft operating system).
Assuming you were just "hacking around" trying to see how well Windows 7 may work with existing applications, you should have deactivated the Adobe software running under Vista, backed up data, and totally reformatted the disk (low level format) before attempting any such experiments.
    Please understand that Adobe does
not support operation under pre-production operating systems. CS4 was released well before there were any builds of Windows 7 available to developers.

  • I am trying to install current Firefox 3.6, as I am currently running an older Firefox on my Windows ME, but I keep getting this error message: "Setup has caused an error in SETUP.EXE Setup will now close."--Please help?

I have downloaded all IP changer Privacy software I have purchased and am trying to install it, and although it is made to work with WindowsME that I am currently using on my computer, it now says it requires Firefox 3 or above to be able to install the software. Therefore, I am trying to update my Firefox to current 3.6 but once Firefox 3.6 downloads it doesn't install. Instead I just keep getting the same error message: Setup has caused an error in SETUP.EXE. Set up will now close. Several times, I have also tried restarting the computer as the error message also recommended But I just still keep getting the same error message when I try to update/install Firefox 3.5. Please help/advise on how I can fix this problem. Many thanks in advance!

Firefox 2.0.0.20 is the last ever version of Firefox for Win98 / SE / ME.
You can get it from here, but you are better off using K-Meleon (derived from Firefox) or Opera instead an old version of Firefox:
    [ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/2.0.0.20/win32/en-US/]
You can try KernelEx to get Firefox 3+ to work, but it would be very slow with an old PC of less than 750Mhz. 3.5 and later supposedly doesn't work.

  • 9.0.124.0 Update - Firefox Illegal Operation

My system, Windows XP SP3, IE 7, Firefox 2.0 , Flash Player
9.0.124.0. After a recent Windows update which included SP3 I had
to install Flash Player latest version for IE7. The normal Flash
download and install wouldn't work. It caused IE7 to crash
repeatedly. Followed Adobe's online recommendations - uninstall and
redownload didn't work. Downgrading IE7 security to medium didn't
work. The Adobe Flash uninstall tool didn't work. Their final
online solution (which required several steps) regarding Windows
registry permissions was successful for IE7in my case: from the
    Adobe technote -
"Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues that
prevent the Flash Player installation. For instruction on how to
run SubInACL to fix these permission issues please refer to
"Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues that
prevent the Flash Player installation" (TechNote fb1634cb)."
Of course I was using Firefox 2.0 to do this online
troubleshooting (version info: latest version - Mozilla/5.0
    (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404
Firefox/2.0.0.14). Flash had always worked fine in Firefox
previously for me. Firefox is my preferred (default) browser. I use
IE7 only for a very few Microsoft and other sites that
display/download correctly only via IE7 (including Microsft
Update). Now following the suggested IE7 fix, my Firefox
    Flashplayer plugin is broken.
When I first opened Firefox after the IE7 fix, any pages with
Flash reported the missing plugin message. Using the Firefox
"Install missing plugins" feature tried to install the Flash Player
Plugin but failed. Visiting the Adobe website and following the
download and install Flash Player instructions with Firefox seemed
to work. The Flash plugin reported successful install. Now visiting
almost any Flash enabled website in Firefox results in this Firefox
    error message -
"Shockwave flash: The plugin has performed an illegal operation.
You are strongly advised to restart Firefox"
Now uninstalling and re-installing Flashplayer are not
working for Firefox. Searching the forums here doesn't give any
recent instance of this error message for version 9.0.124.0 (that I
can find anyway...) that seem pertinent. I need to get Adobe Flash
Player working with Firefox 2.0 again. Any help appreciated.
    - note - don't use any 3rd party pop-up blockers etc. Do use
anti-virus AVG 8.0 Free (disabled for installs/uninstalls) with
their LinkScanner tool disabled. thx - Andy

I don't know what goes wrong as took my serial number on my profile from the adobe web site, same thing for the download of the software.
Does it means that the serial number provided was invalid for deploying ?
NB.: My goal is to deploy our Acrobat XI through SCCM in silent mode and I don't know if there is extra consideration for that.  For now it's only not working at the command line.
Another important point is that the install works great without customization !  If I just run the setup.exe from freshly extracted files and I use my serial number, everything is working fine.
    So what goes wrong ?

Thanks for the reply brogers_1 and Vinod Dbhal, you gave good hint.
I retried installing the initial package in French on a Windows 7 English and the software installed properly in French.
As I used to work with virtuals for those tests, I rolled back my virtual and redo my test installation with chosing to install it in English on my Windows 7 English and again the installation finished properly but I was surprised when I realized that even if I chose English as language, the software was running in French !
Of course I can change the language settings (in the edit-preferences-language) to follow the operating system witch is nice.
That gave me the cue I needed to know.  I started from scratch my customization with choosing only the French language in the "Application Languages" and I left the MUI Languages blank and saved the .mst
    I ran again the same command : msiexec /i  AcroPro.msi TRANSFORMS=AcroPro.mst /qb!
    And everything works fine.
NB.: As I used the .msi directly, of course I had to install the prerequirement Visual C++ 2010 first.  Otherwise the installation failed without any error message.
Thanks again to you for your good hint,
    Bob

  • "Your computer must be connected to the internet to perform this operation" during sync.

My curve had this error message:
"your computer must be connected to the internet to perform this operation. Please ensure that you are able to connect to the internet and try again".
Worked fine with desktop manager 4.6...
update to 4.7 blew it up...
found an article to fix.. regedit and change hklm \ software \ reasearch in motion \ blackberry\ syncronize
change State from 1 to 0
    worked fine....
    till the 5.0 update ...
now it does not work again and this key does not even exist anymore.
Of course there is internet and there is no firewalling enabled or any application which would block this traffic, no proxy settings, routing issues etc....
There has to be answer to this issue.. I know I am not the only person with this issue.

    Hi,
You only need to connect onve, and then you satisfy the request.
I have run into this twice, and I cannot logically explain why it occurs.
On the first install I finally connected the PC directly to the cable modem, after disabling the firewall software.
It did take about 6 hours with Kapersky to ensure it hadn't got infected. That was a friends DM 4.5
The second was was out of total frustration with version 4.7. On my network.
I , like you, have routers and firewalls in front of the cable router if I had had a packet sniffer it would have been easier to trace.
I reasoned that the PC and applications like explorer and Outlook could access the internet with out fail.
I then tracked the default IP gateway address for my PC.
In Windows click on Start, then on Run, and then type "cmd" and press Enter to open a DOS window.
    - In this window type "ipconfig" and press Enter.
    - The screen will display the IP options for Ethernet the submask, etc.  "Default Gateway." is what you need.
    - Copy the the default gateway's IP address.
I then started the Blackberry device manager and opened the Blackberry Hardware properties icon in the systray.
I was trying to see if I could find what the desktop manager was trying to access or at least what path it wanted.
I found the Blackberry Router configuration tab.Click on the bottom right "turn on user defined routes".
So basically you can provide a bypass route "static route". I entered my PC default gateway address, hit apply and OK.
I did a cold boot of the system, started the DM and it never whimpered, just hit the internet and I could access the
sync options. This worked without changing any firewall or router settings. I purposely left it all in place as that
IP gateway worked for any other program on both my PC's. (I have setup mu PC to device the home network.
After running steady for a couple of weeks, I went in and removed the bypass address. The 4.7 install has yet to miss a
    beat.
Well I probably broke 87 FCC regulations, all of the RIM agreements but it worked for me.!
If I'm not here tommorow have a drin for me at the party!
I have just installed the Desktop manager 5.0 and never had the problem.
So basically it's your call !
The worst that can happen is it doesn't work and you narrow it down further, the best that happens is you get connected.
I would recommend getting a  " sniffer" program. This is the one suggested by Blackberry in the KB article
(Packet capture  tool (such as Wireshark®)
Let us know what you think.

  • "Unable to perform this operation because No enough ram"? Insolent!

    Hello,
I use Photoshop CS4 Extended and I don't speak english but..... When using the quick selection tool  sometimes gives me the following message "Unable to perform this operation because the available RAM is insufficient." Actually I do not understand because thanks to a software that gives me real-time active memory available, I know that this is largely sufficient (more than 1GB of available). Besides, I need only close the file. psd and I reopen the message to disappear In short .... I do not understand and I find it annoying!!
    Best regards,
    Ben
Ps: The making of a double q only rarely solves the problem.
    Setup: 2 GB of RAM
                Xp 32 bit
69% of available RAM memory has toshop or 1200 MB

J'ai installé le sp3 de Xp et le bug semble avoir disparu (j'etais rester au sp2)....
