Permissions to allow Users to receive emails.

Good Day all,
I have made a site collection. This has a HomePage (permissions are sent to allow departmental groups to see this page) and departmental pages where only the group in the department has authorization to access it.
My question is, I would like a department to assign a task to another department head. I can do that but the department head does not receive an email stating it has been assigned to him.(I made and tested SMTP Server). Is there a way for him to see the
task, but still cannot see the departmental information on the Site?

The email of the task, assuming you're using a task list, is a setting inside the tasks list. Go to advanced settings and turn on the email when ownership is assigned setting.
Since you may be assigning tasks to users that don't have permission to the site, you may also want to give the Everyone user rights to that last. Otherwise, that user will receive an access denied message.

  • User not receiving emails regarding approval notifications

    Hi,
SRM system has been upgraded to 5.0.
User is not receiving emails regarding Approval notifications. However, the user is able to view the SCs pending for his approval in his approval list.
I checked the transmission of the emails, the approval notifications are sucessfuly sent and the email of the user is correctly maintained. I tried resending the emails, and the user didnt receive emails even then.
Could be please advice what could the error.
    Thanks
    Hemanth

    Hello Hemanth Kumar,
    If approval mail:
    - is correctly generated,
    - you can see it in SOST transaction,
    - request status in SOST is OK,
this means SAPconnect is working fine, so your problem does not come from SAP.
You have to check your STMP gateaway and your mail server.
    Regards.
    Laurent.

  • User can receive email but cannot send

    Hi,
I'm migrating a domain in an organization to another new domain. Now, we are migrating the workstations to the new domain. Users are not migrated, they are completely new in the new domain.
So, the problem is that we have a workstation in the new domain and the user from new domain logged on on this machine. The user has successfully configured is old exchange account in Outlook (Exchange server is still in the old domain) and can receive email,
    but cannot send.
Can someone help please to find what is wrong?

    Hi Silva,
    Thank you for your question.
Is there NDR when you send email?
Which way outlook connect Exchange 2013?
Where is email which was sent? “sent item” or “Draft”?
Which user mailbox use when you configure profile? New domain user or old domain user?
We could create a trust between new domain and old domain:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc779840(WS.10).aspx
We could ping old domain successfully on the new domain.
If we have created mailbox for new domain user on old exchange, we could refer to the following link:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998031(v=exchg.150).aspx?f=255&mspperror=-2147217396
In addition, we suggest we migrate user and Exchange to new domain as soon as possible.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim

  • Exchange Server 2007 OWA users can receive email but can't send

    Hi,
I have an Exchange server 2007 in an SBS 2008 environment with POP3 connector configured and working fine , smtp send mail connector configured.
Now users can connect to OWA, receive email but cant not send.
smtp connector works fine from Outlook client. Tried to track the emails from exchange server management console and I get the
    SEND DELIVER SUBMIT TRANSFER.
The emails go to the sent items folder, but it never reach the recipients.
Have been troubleshooting for a while without succes. Any help will be most appreciated.
    Regards
    Faisal

POP3 is a single mailbox client mail retrieval protocol, not a mail transport protocol.
Any attempt to use it as a mail transport protocol is a great big kludge.
Exchange is designed to connect to the Internet using SMTP.
No version of Exchange has a POP3 connector.
I recommend that you post this in the SBS Forum:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/smallbusinessserver/threads

  • User not receiving email / corrupt database?

Much like another recent post, I have a user that can not receive email the emails just sit in the queue.
The error on those messages is "[[email protected]]: temporary failure"
    Here are the twists:
    1) We had a power spike a couple of days ago. The user's UPS failed and his machine lost power completely. He rebooted and everything else was fine, but he has not received an e-mail since then.
    2) When looking at the list of users on the Server Admin > Mail > Maintenance > Accounts screen, the list in the database stops at the person BEFORE this particular user. They're alphabetical, obviously, so everyone after this person are not listed at all - 13 total missing accounts.
The kicker is that the rest of us are still receiving e-mail normally!
    Thoughts?!
    Details:
    Mac Xserve running 10.4.11
    Dual 2GHz, and 2GB RAM
Keep in mind I am NOT a born tech person, have a mild to moderate comfort level with a command-line prompt, and no native intuition for any of this.
    Thanks!

I'm the consultant that fixed MNX04's server, but it took several attempts.
the Cyrus reconstruct command failed to resolve the issue, and even removing the user using cyradm, and re-creating them in Workgroup manager didn't fix the problem.
Pterobyte's mailbfr utility did the trick: mailbfr -f, wait awhile for the repair to run, and all was well.
I'm grateful for all the help pterobyte has given to people on this forum, but it concerns me a little bit that the Cyrus utilities built in to OS X server can't fix this sort of problem. (However, this is the first time I've run into a problem with OS X mail servers that the Cyrus reconstruct command couldn't fix.)

  • Problem with some user accounts receiving email

We are running Exchange 2003 and having our end users get their email via Outlook Web Access on their Blackberry devices, and are having a problem with just some users. When we go into BIS, we can setup their account just fine, but they never receive any e-mails. They can send e-mails fine also. We have done the following tests:
    1. I have setup my AT&T Curve to check my e-mail, works fine.
    2. I have three users I'm currently using as my "test group" since this problem began. Two using Verizon Storms, and one using a Verizon Bold. All three can send e-mail fine, one of the storm users can check e-mail, but not the other two.
    3. I have setup these accounts on my (known working from test 1) Blackberry Curve, and get the same results. I cannot receive e-mail on either of those two accounts.
I don't see any errors in any logs (unless I am looking in the wrong place). I've even gone throught adsiedit and compared the msexch* settings and they all seem comperable. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

On the devices browser options, are these settings all identical?

  • User not receiving Email

I have a user that can not receive email the emails just sit in the queue.
The error I see is DBERROR: error fetching user.user: cyrusdb error
I have ran mailbfr -m twice and restarted the server with no success.
    What is the next step.

The next step would be to reconstruct the entire cyrus database using mailbfr -f
It will take a while and you will loose read/unread flags.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • User not receiving emails she has been copied in to

Hello, we have a user in our office who receives her own emails in to her inbox but also has emails for another user delivered in to a folder within her Outlook so she can review (she is the secretary for this other user).
The issue is that if she is copied in to any of the emails that the other user has been sent she will not receive her copy in to her inbox.
She only discovers the email when she reviews the emails for the other user within the separate folder.
    How can we rectify this?
    Thank you.

She has an Inbox Rule that moves the messages the other person gets into this subfolder.  You can fix this issue in one of the following ways:
Modify that rule so it only runs if she is not on the message.  This will leave the messages she is a recipient of in her Inbox and will not place them in the subfolder
Create a new rule that applies only to messages she receives.  Have this rule do nothing, and not to run any further rules.  Have this rule run before the troubled rule.  This will also leave the messages she is a recipient of in her Inbox.
Create a rule that copies the current rule except that it also runs only if her name is on the message.  Have this leave a copy in the Inbox, but also put the messages in the subfolder, and have it run no further rules.  Have this rule run before
the troubled rule.  This will leave a copy of the messages she is on the recipient lines for in the Inbox, but it will also put a copy in the sub-folder.

  • Office 365 w/ADFS & DirSync: User can receive emails but is unable to send.

I'm catching hell with one user in an organization of about 20 users. This afternoon he began having issues sending emails. From Outlook 2013, if he attempts to send, the messages get stuck in the outbox. In OWA, the get moved to the drafts folder after send is pressed. If you navigate to the same message in the drafts folder and try to send again, you get a little notification at the top right that says "couldn't send hte floowing message: ", then if you click on that, another error shows "You don't have permission to perform this action." He is also unable to send from his phone activesync. I have noticed that about once an hour, it seems like a few messages will deliver from the outbox. The first time this happened, I immediately tried to send another message but had the same issue and error. I'm absolutely stumped on this one. If I...

Hey SpiceHeads,For those of you using the Spiceworks 7.4 application, make sure to read Babbitt (Spiceworks)'s update. Also, we're upgrading the search we use for various parts of the community this weekend. Due to this, we're going to have to rebuild various indexes within the community which means you may notice some weirdness when using Quick Search (aka "/"), tagging, and the listing of topics in groups. This should be starting momentarily but may run throughout the weekend.TL;DR - You'll notice some quirks but don't panic, it'll be over Soon.

  • Why cant I edit a received email?

I just switched from a PC using Outlook. My Outlook has always been much more than a bunch of sent and received emails. I have lots of folders and file things away for reference, and I frequently edit emails to make them easier to find via a search or to add additional useful info.
I cant see how there could be any technical difficulties in allowing users to edit emails, so I can only assume that they are unaware of the usefulness.
Why would you want to edit an email examples:
    1. Quotes from vendors. Add keywords, our part numbers or additional info....maybe after a phone conversation. Sometimes the vendors call a part something different than what we call it, or they use horrible abbreviations in the product name.
    2. eFax faxes that arrive via email. They all have a useless subject with the senders fax number only, AND the content isnt indexed by search since they are essentially pictures. So....without the ability to edit the subject, I loose the nice paperless fax filing system in my email bec I cant search and find them any more!
    3. Receipts from web purchases. Add keywords to make finding them easier. Edit subject to include the name of the product/s that were purchased.
    4. Notes or emails I create myself in these folders for reference. Outlook has a neat feature "Post in this folder" that lets you create a text document in the folder and type whatever you want. This is handy for keeping info in a folder that was not received as an email. you could email yourself, but that is a multi-step process that isnt nearly as clean and simple.
I think the Apple Mail creators don't realize that an email app can be much more useful than something to store exact copies of sent and received emails. If I cant find a solution for this, I will have to use another program, which is a huge bummer, bec aside from this one simple missing feature, I like Apple Mail, but this is a deal breaker for me.
Please just turn on this ability!

    Mulder wrote:
You've misunderstood what Mail is: a mail client only, not a personal notebook or information manager. Outlook is more like the latter, but poor at that task, too. Apple can't "turn on" an ability that isn't there to begin with, and it's doubtful they are going to bloat Mail by trying to make it into an Outlook clone.
Maybe you've misunderstood what it CAN be. I'm not asking for an outlook clone. Just the ability to add useful notes to an email.
One very big reason you shouldn't be able to edit received messages is if you have to produce them for evidence of anything. The ability to edit an email means you could alter the contents to be different than what the sender actually sent.
This can be alleviated by recording the "Last modified date"
e-Faxes are still images, and Outlook doesn't let you edit an image, either. There's nothing stopping you from opening the fax in Preview, adding notes and then exporting it as a PDF file.
I dont want to edit an image, just change the subject of the email it came in.
As for creating notes, you can do that, but it looks as though you haven't read the Help documentation for Mail yet.
As far as I can tell, you can create a note but you cant put it in whatever folder you want. They live in separate notes folders, so it doesn't do what I was asking.
If you want to add keywords or tags to email, you need to use something like MailTags.
Mailtags looks like it will address all the issues I have. It allows you to add notes to an email in a separate text box that is searchable. Thanks for the tip. i would really prefer not to have to rely on a third party add-on, but will probably do it anyway. i really dont want to have to switch to Entourage...which WILL let you do this by the way as does Eudora, MS Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird.
Regarding MailTags, the fact that this popular add-on exists indicates to me that I'm far from alone in finding some useful functionality missing. At a bare minimum I think they should allow you to edit the subject line.

  • Received emails show nothin in the reading pane

I have an issue with Outlook 2010 on a Win7 32-bit client. This user is receiving emails and nothing shows up in the reading pane. It only happens to certain emails but it happens often enough to be really annoying. When you go to reply/forward the email
the text will show up but it will show up in a weird font with paragraph marks and there will be dots between every word. I forwarded the email to myself and the formatting of the original message shows up just fine. The email shows up fine on the users phone
as well as in OWA. The issue is specific to this outlook installation. I deleted her profile and data files and let the mailbox recreate and I also tried repairing the office installation with no luck. I've tried playing around with some fonts and stationary
settings(I think this is the culprit) with no success.
Is there any way to do a reset on outlook and go back to default settings accross the board? Or do you know of any settings I may just be missing that would cause this?

    Hi,
    Try to reset the view.
Click Start->Run and type Outlook.exe /cleanviews and click OK.
If it still not work, I suggest you creating a new outlook profile. How to do this, you can refer to this article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918
    Hope that helps.
I forgot to add that i've already tried creating a new profile. I'll try resting the view.

  • Exchange 2013, a distribution group within a distribution group is not receiving emails.

Here's the explanation of what's going on:
"A" is an internal distribution group containing other internal contacts, and internal distribution groups "B" and "C". "B" is a working distribution group that contains all internal contacts. "C" contains all
external contacts, who will successfully receive emails sent directly to "C". The problem is, when you send an email to "A", everyone in "B" receives the email, but no one in "C" does. "C" is set to receive
emails from external sources and has correct SMTP settings as far as I can tell.
Is this problem related to the fact that "C" is full of external contacts? Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere that will allow "C" to receive emails sent to "A"?
Edit: Group "C" can not receive emails at all.

Sorry, i meant does the mailbox you are sending the email FROM have permission to send emails TO external email address?
Our exchange server is set up so that certain people can only email internal addresses. This is configured in the ECP under Mail Flow - Rules, and is basically configured to state that anyone within the AD group "internal only" to reject the message and
provide the explanation "you are not allowed to email externally".
If the mailbox you are sending the mail from is not permitted to email external contacts, it wont work.
It can be tested by emailing one of the addresses in Group C individually.

  • I can't receive emails because I am over quota

I reached my 5 GB quota and so received an email telling me so.  I disabled the iCloud backup of my mails.  I can't delete any more from iCloud and the problem is I am not receiving any new emails!  I don't understand why?  Why would it not allow me to receive emails (even if my "backup" is over quota?).

  • Managing Users - Editing a User Name and Email?

    Hello!
I have absolutely no experience using the Windows Small Business Server 2003.  Our IT person showed me how to add Users and this is bascially the only task I perform with regard to the server.
I recently added a new User and accidentally misspelled his name.  I went back in and edited the User file to correct the name and I was able to send a test email to him and receive a response from him - however, the response came in with the sender's
name still misspelled.  I went back in to the User file and found that the alias still showed the misspelled name.  I corrected the error there but now the User is not able to send or receive email.
    To to clarify:
    1. I entered the User name incorrectly - I typed the name ending in "ki" instead of "ik".
    2. Went back in to the User file and changed the name and email address to reflect the correct spelling - [email protected]
    3.  Sent test email to User (ik at company dot com) and received a response from User but the response listed the sender as: "Employee Ki" - instead of "Employee Ik".
    4. Discovered that alias was still showing "ki" - changed alias to correct spelling.
    5. User is not able to send or receive email.
    My questions are:
    A. Did I do the right thing by simply trying to edit the file to correct the mistake?  Or should I have deleted the User and started over?
    B. If it is acceptable to simply edit the file, is there some other step I am missing or that still needs to be performed so the User can receive email?
Thank you so very much for your time and assistance! :-)

Thank you so much for responding Larry!
I did go through and make the correction in every tab.  (That was actually how I found out that I had missed the "alias").
This employee is mostly out in the field and will be sending and receiving email from his phone or ipad.  He was able to send and receive email before I corrrected the "alias" - would changing this cause him to lose the ability to send and receive
    email?
Also he left me a note that he is not able to log in under the company acount.  When he attempts to log in, he is asked for the "exchange account".
I suspect that this may be more involved than just correcting the misspelling.  I appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide.
