Printing from Remote Desktop

Cannot print on Fanfold 210 x 305mm on Epson LQ680 from remote desktop on windows server 2008 r2.
Printer installed in the local system is listed under printers in remote session and able to print on other paper size fanfold
210mm x 11.5 inch
When selecting the paper size fanfold 210 x 305mm, it is not printing.

Tried disabling :"Use Terminal
Services Easy Print printer driver first"
Still not able to print on  paper size fan fold. 210 x 305mm.
I tried using another printer OKI Ml5790 which supports windows server 2008.
Same was the result.

I have an HP 1300n attached via USB to a windows 7 computer.  I log onto a clien'ts windows 2003 server using remote desktop application.  I have installed the driver to HP 1300 PCL 5 on the remote server and of course it's installed on the windows 7 machine.  I can see the HP via port TSXxx on the remote server but when printing, nothing happens.  The document is sent to the "printer" but doesnt print in my office.   I've tried many solutions and nothing so far works.  I have 3 other windows 7 computers and 3 others HP 1300 and all are experiencing the same thing.

  • "remote desktop connection has stopped working" When printing from remote desktop connection

I have been having a issue when using a windows 7 machine. I have Remote Desktop to a session on Windows2008 R2, I am using the local printer resources to redirect the printing. However everytime i try to print it crashes the remote desktop application.
Gives me "remote desktop connection has stopped working." I have 4 other computers connected and printing with no issues what so ever. This only happens when i print. It does print by the way just the application crashes.
-I have also updated the printer drivers to newest possible thru the manufactorer website. The printer is a Brother MFC-8890DW. Windows 2008 R2 is up to date for the RDS server. 3 other machines are able to Remote in and print. The user is able to print using
diffrent machines just not the Windows 7 machine.

    Hi,
Happy to hear that you resolved your issue. For another issue which you are facing here trying to provide some suggestion.
As you have commented that you are facing issue with second screen resolution on wide screen. The setting which I am suggesting can only applies when you are using multi-monitor Remote Desktop connections.  If you are making Connections using a single
monitor do not use this setting.
So for this you can try to apply “Limit maximum display resolution” setting in group policy, where you can mention the width & height for the screen to display. The setting can be applied on below mentioned
    path.
    Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Remote Session Environment
Meanwhile sharing article with you for more information.

  • Hp laserjet m1132 mfp can't print from remote desktop

Hi, i've installed HP LASERJET M1132 MFP in my PC with windows 7 ultimate 32 bit and it works fine. But when i connect using remote dekstop with  our Windows server 2008 r2 64 bit. its not printing. error "test page failed to print , would you like to view the print troubleshooter for assistance?" and it doesnt solved the problem.
    please help

    Thank you for your interest.
The situation is a bit different than the picture. Windows Server 2008 R2 is available through the WAN. LAN is plugged into the PC-1, PC-2 and Konica Minolta printer. HP LaserJet M1120n MFP is connected via USB to the PC-1. OKI ML 3320 printer is connected via LPT also to the PC-1. PC-1 has access to Konica Minolta printer via the LAN. PC-2 also has access to Konica Minolta printer via the LAN. PC-2 is also available for PC-1 HP and OKI.
It seems to me that I found the explanation for the printing problems - some of "my" printers are simply not compatible with Windows Server 2008 R2. I found on the net the following information:

  • Trouble Printing to Network Printer via Remote Desktop Connection

    Specs:
    Macbook Pro, early 2013,
    Mavericks (10.9.2),
Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection v.8.0.5 (latest),
Connecting to Windows Server 2008 standard
Printer, HP LaserJet P2035n, connected via the network
When on the Mac connected to the server, the printers from the Mac are redirected so you're supposed to be able to print from Remote Desktop to the HP printer.  However, when you select something to print, the job goes to the print and keeps printing over and over and over again until you cancel the print job, which it usually allows you to do, or turn off the printer, which you have to do when it won't let you cancel the job.
Any advice on how to get the printer connection running normally?

What you haven't told us is what method you use to connect/setup the printer on Windows. There are two ways - Bonjour for Windows (free software from Apple), and TCP/IP raw port 9100. If you have a problem using one, try the other.

  • P1005 Windows 7 can't print from remote PC

    Very strange issue.
Windows 7 computers. All HP compaqs. Printer P1005. Driver just downloaded (version 20090918).
No problem to print from the host PC
From the remote PC. Windows 7 Pro with 3 local account.  After lot of issues I'm now able to print on using the administrator account. However the 2 others accounts can't print.  Everytime the print dialog should come on the screen Windows 7 report an error and application crash (even printing a test page).   In an application if I default another shared printer (deskjet 5940), the print dialog come on, then I select the P1005 in the dropdown and got the error again.  Deskjet have no issue on all accounts.
To install on the admin account I did the following:
       - deinstall the P1005
       - decompressed the install app on the HD
      - Add a printer, select a local printer on USB, and manual selection of the drivers. printed without problem (with printer connected locally)
     - added a printer, selected the network one, added it and printed without issue (yes I switch back the printer to be on the shared one)
I tried the same tricks on the others accounts but still crashing when printing
I tried to upgrade the 2 others account to Admin role, no luck same issue.
I have exhausted. sounds this printer is not very compatible with Windows 7.
PS. my windows xP remote PC is able to print through the Windows 7 host without issue.

If it is not wireless it is USB connected.  So you need to choose USB connected and let the program do it's thing.   Are you trying to share the printer from the desktop to the laptop?  If yes, just go to Add Printer and follow the instruction.  Make sure File and Print Sharing is enabled on the desktop.

  • WhenI print from firefox on a Mac everything comes out 50% too light, if I save the image and print from the desktop it looks fine. No problem either printing from FF with Win7. How do I fix FF on the Mac?

My iMac runs bootcamp, so I have both OSX and win7 available. I run the latest Firefox on both as my primary browser. The printing looks like the ink is running low, but when the same image is printed from other desktop apps the printing looks fine.

    Hi, Jordan -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
If the original drive in the newer Mac is a Western Digital, its jumpers may be set to Single, which WD drives often use when there is only one device on the bus. When a second drive is added, the jumpers on the original must be reset to Master.
OS 9's utility is named Drive Setup - you should find it in the Utilities folder on the hard drive. Run that. Select the added hard drive in the list, then select Mount Volume from the Functions menu.
You can also check with that utility to see if the OS believes the drive has been set to automount at boot. Again, select the drive in the list. Then select Volume Settings from the Functions menu - there's a checkbox in that screen to set automount (for freshly initialized drives, that's turned on by default).
Also, try running Disk First Aid (should also be in the Utilities folder). Let it have a look at the second drive, and repair anything it can.
Apple System Profiler should report the format of all drives it sees. Is the format of the drive from the old Mac stated as Mac OS Standard, or as Mac OS Extended?

    Hello Lahaina,
I will assume that you have power cycled the printer already, does that Correct the issue for a period of time? or does it continue as normal?

  • Printing locally from remote desktop not working

i have a client who recently upgraded his computers from xp to win7.  he has a multi store quickbooks pos setup where he has to log in to a remote desktop connection onto a server in another store.  he used to just login and run his reports and
then print them locally.  since the upgrade, he has not been able to do this.  the work around i found was to keep the xp laptop just for printing reports.  well, now he is separating from the other store and going out on his own.  he needs
to run some reports and save them to the local machine in order to bring the databases to his store.  first, i need to know how to make the win 7 computer print the reports locally, so that he can run them (the xp laptop crashed).  second, i need
to know how to copy the files onto his local computer (in server 2008 i can drag and drop them, not in 2003).
the win 7 is 64 bit, the server 2003 is 32.  i tried installing the print drivers locally onto the server, but it's the wrong architecture.  i also tried installing the 32 bit drivers onto the win 7 machine, same thing.  i found several things
to try, but really need to get this fixed asap.  when i try to install the printer, it shows up, and adds just fine.  i am really  having a fit here.
the copying thing is an absolute must also.  i may be able to get by without the print issue fixed, but would like to know what happened just for my own information.  thanx in advance.

    Hi,
Firstly you can check whether print spooler service is not stopped. Also ensure that printer driver is compatible\supported by Windows 7 and by server. If you are using printer redirection then might happen that it’s not configure properly. The client must
have enough permission and also check client requirement for printer redirection (RDP 6.1 or above, .Net 3.5or above).
    More information:
    Terminal Server and Printer Redirection
Five reasons printer redirection causes Windows printing problems in RDS
For this can you describe little more”second, i need to know how to copy the files onto his local computer (in server 2008 i can drag and drop them, not in 2003).” Do you want to copy from remote session to local computer?
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks,

    Hi William,
Please make sure that Forward printing devices is checked. This allows you to use the local printer connects to your Mac in a remote desktop session.

  • Unable to print from my desktop but I can print wirelessly from my tablet

I have an HP Officejet 4620 all-in-one wireless printer that worked fine until I switched from a Verizon to an Xfinity router. The printer is not communicating with my desktop [a Gateway], which is using Windows 7, however I can send things from my tablet [ipad] to the printer wirelessly and it prints no problem. I tried to troubleshoot but kept getting pop-ups and I just don't trust saying "Yes" to any of that crap, I've had so many problems with viruses through the years. can you help me please?

We switched from Verizon to Comcast and in the process of switching we lost the ability for my desktop to communicate with my wireless printer [HP 4620]. I could still print from my Ipad, but that was it. In my quest for help I went to the HP help center. I downloaded new drivers for both of my laptops and they were able to print wirelessly. I thought I would do the same for my desktop. But did not need to. I tried printing a document I was working on, and was very surprised when my printer responded. All is well! Thanks for the Forum. It's great to know this type of support is available.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Have you applied any GPO setting related to session time out?
Please check the setting under below path.
    •Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
