Process Chain - RSPC - related Abend
Hi All
I am using 2004s, nd when ever I tried to open any process chain I get an program termination with MESSAGE TYPE X. I created and executed process chain before. I am not even able to just open the same process chain I created before nor create a new one.
If anyone had come accross this error please advice. I need this to be solved quickly.

Process chain (RSPC) modifcation in Quality and production system

In our landscape quality and production system is set as non modifiable. But we want to modify the process chain (RSPC) in Quality and production system.
As per the thread Need input: do process chain/InfoPackages changeable on PROD in your compa? in RSA1 -> Transport connection we made RSPC ( Process Chain) , RSPT (process chain starter) and RSPV (process variants) are changeable.
With this setting we are able to create/ edit new process chain in Quality and Production system. But we canu2019t edit the transported Process chain. i.e. process chain transported from Dev to Quality system.
We donu2019t want to open Business Information Warehouse: Customer Namespace (/BIC/ ) in Quality and production system (Se06). Please let me know is there any other settings needs to be.
We are on BI 7.0

Process Chain problem related to Update ODS Object Data (Further Update)
In the process chain, the data is loaded to an ODS first then feed to an InfoCube by kind of data mart load. But when checking the process chain, getting yellow warning msg:
A type "Update ODS Object Data (Further Update)" process has to follow process "Activate ODS Object Data" var.our_infopackage_name in the chain
Message no. RSMPC016
If we add the variant "Update ODS Object Data (Further Update) after the activation of the ODS and before the InfoPackage to feed data to the cube, then another yellow warning shows up for the InfoPackage of loading data to the InfoCube that says the Update variant can not be before the loading to this Cube and etc.
What should we do to have the problem resolved?

In checking view of PC i get :
A type "Attribute Change Run" process has to follow process "Save Hierarchy"
color : yellow
However, in log view everything is in Green (meaning Ok)
Why the differ in the above two / what does it mean ?SAP tried to build some validation logic into the process chain maintenence process. They have certain expectations when they check the PC, e.g. when you load a hierarchy, you would normally want to perform a Change Run to update any aggregates that might have the hierarchy embedded in them.
The checking view is just warning you about what SAP believes is an omission in our PC. When you activate the chain, you should have been given an option to disregard the warning. When the chain runs, all the steps that are in the chain run correctly, so the log will show green.
Now if you have aggregates, you might have problems because you did not run the Change Run - that is the issue SAP is trying to warn you about by showing something as yellow in the Checking view.
Some of the validation has changed over time and some steps that SAP considered to be necessary together in a PC may no longer be a requirement now so something that was flagged as yellow in one version of BW might not get flagged as yellow in a differnet version. -

whats the techinical difference between PROCESS CHAIN & MASS PROCESSING? I know about mass processing how it works creating activity and assing activity to job and scheduling the job after an event or immediate or a spcefic time... but when it come to MASS PROCSSING- RSPC. here also we need to create a varient we need to assing an varient to program varient.. but i am not able to find the difference.. can anybody make me clear..

Mass processing: Here individual jobs are run, we define activity for it and create a job & schedule it.
Manily job activites like forecast release, running macros, forecast creation etc.

Main difference in these two is that process chains is related with BI while massprocessing is not.
In APO through process chains we can trigger loading of data in the infocubes and do all the activities related with BW which we cannot do through massprocessing.

BI IP Executing planning sequence via process chain not possible
Hi,
we use BI IP and have defined a process chain (RSPC) with value type process planning sequence. When we execute it, we get error message
"Inconsistent input parameter (parameter: <unknown>, value <unknown>)"
When we execute this planning sequence via the modeller or via SE38 RSPLS_PLSEQ_EXECUTE everything works fine. I thougt the cause could be the user of the job itself (job is executed with different user, and variant of planning sequence is user-dependent!), but I changed the user in the job itself as well without results.

I executed with my user and have a SAP_ALL authorization. Perhaps it could be because we use authorisation with the old method (4.0) (-> I'm not sure on this). I also think it has to do with authorization. I'll check this out with our authorization consultant.

Process chain delete index from TABLE
is it possible to put a step in a process chain (/rspc) to delete and rebuild indexes from a normal table?
I can only find a way to do this for cubes... ?

How to send an email/sms in process chain

I would like to send an email/SMS in a process chain with same key figures. I get the key figures from a query. But I need a program to send these key figures to email. Is there any programs to send an email like the transaction sbwp?

1. select classification "Process Chains"
2. click on display/change
3. double-click on "error in a process of a process chain"
4. click on "fixed recipients"
5. write in your username (you have to maintain your e-mail address in SU01 for that to work)
6. save
Tcode: RSPC
1. go to your process chain (rspc)
2. go into edit mode
3. from the menu, select Process chain -> attributes -> alerting
4. check "send alerts if errors occur" (select as per your requirement )

BI Content 7.57 SP4 Activating Process Chain

I am trying to activate a process chain from BI content . My source system is ERP 6.0. While collecting objects for activating this Process Chain BW gives an errors. It says some of DTP and Transformations are missing. I have put two of the errors are at below.
When i search these missing objects on the BI content these objects are not exist. Also on the BW system they are not exist. I could not find any solution for this problem.
Can you please show me a way for solving this. I am stuck on this.

Process chain executed synchronously produces dump and hangs
Process chain (RSPC) being executed synchronously hangs on a step (not first) with yellow status. Analysis of ST22 shows there is dump: RAISE_EXCEPTION
The chain loads data from flat files on frontend to several characteristics (attributes and texts). All the steps are sequential.
After the start first file is loaded successfully (info package), subsequent data transfer process has no errors too. But the second info package becomes yellow and hangs just after ( after some time timeout occurs and the step becomes red). In ST22 i see dump, text of the dump is below. Analysis of the dump reveals that 'GUI_UPLOAD' FM doesn't work during execution of the second info-package.
The chain looks as follows:

Process Chains - Production Support
Hi Gurus,
I have doubt regarding process chains in production support system. Is the consultant who is working on production support on process chains monitoring, how many process chains are assigned to him( maximum). Is all the process chains are related to application specific, i mean like all the process chain related to SD, FICO, MM, and so on or from any application.

Process Chains can be triggered as Batch Jobs ... After completing the batch Job the consultant checks for any failure in process chain or whether the batch job run successfully or not.
More over Process chains are categorised and triggered based on how much time they are consuming to Load the Data.. normally first Master Data Chains will be triggered and then Transactional Data Chains
So there will not be any count that a Consultant assigned with how many chains in production support, as its totally depends on the Batch Jobs triggered ....

Collecting Process Chain Statistics
Hi anyone,
I'm looking to write some ABAP Code to collect Process Chain Statistics so they can be coherently evaluated and not by looking at the process chains individually. I'll be looking to identify variances in # of records, load times, etc. so I can send out alerts.
I've been able to collect a lot of Process Chain Process information so far using existing API and FM calls. I'm able to get down to the Process Log Levels so far, but I'm trying to think how to go about collecting the actual key figures I need.
<b>I'm looking to capture things like the following:</b>
- Statistics of each process chain and related process chain process like I need to know that my ODS activation started @ 10am actived 10,000 records and ended at 10:01 am. (how long it took).
- I need to know that my data load loaded 1,000 records and how long it took.
- I need to know that my rollup compressed x number of records and took how long.. Etc, Etc, Etc.
I know the BI Administration Cockpit in 2004s might provide some/most of this information, but it isn't an option right now.
The way I see it I really only 1 option with a 2nd potential option:
1. Most likely option is to write a program to go out and collect the statistics for all the processes executing the program on a scheduled basis.
2. Modify/Copy the process chain process classes to somehow output the statistics I need. No idea how I would do this yet.
So again I am currently down to the process level logs and just don't know how to collect the statistical key figures I need like how many records were loaded, compressed, activated, etc... I'm thinking of somehow parsing the logs to get the key figures, but that seems like it would be difficult.
Anyone have any suggestions or ideas how to collect this information so I can report on it?
I posted this here because I thought the bw abappers would frequent this area. Also, If anyone thinks this would be better suited in another forum then please suggest.
