[ Solved ] R 2.7.2 fails to load some packages

Hi,
I was trying to install some R package from CRAN. For example "Hmisc" or "sp". Installation (through install.packages() ) was ok, but then ...
> library("sp")
Error in dyn.load(file, DLLpath = DLLpath, ...) :
  impossibile caricare libreria condivisa '/mnt/data2/Rlib/sp/libs/sp.so':
/mnt/data2/Rlib/sp/libs/sp.so: failed to map segment from shared object: Operation not permitted
Errore: caricamento pacchetto/namespace fallito per 'sp'
> library("tripack")
Error in dyn.load(file, DLLpath = DLLpath, ...) :
  impossibile caricare libreria condivisa '/mnt/data2/Rlib/tripack/libs/tripack.so':
/mnt/data2/Rlib/tripack/libs/tripack.so: failed to map segment from shared object: Operation not permitted
Errore in library("tripack") : .First.lib fallita per 'tripack'
Other packages were successfully loaded, such as:
> library("RUnit")
> library("RColorBrewer")
Any hint/clue on what's happening? Anyone else using R out there?

You probably just need to rebuild it against the current version of your system libraries.
Yo, nevermind, it was my fault. As you probably saw in my first post, I installed the R packages as normal user (not root) in a partition mounted as /mnt/data2. I just had to add 'exec' to that partition's fstab entry, remount, and the problem was solved. My bad: I've lost 2 hours trying to figure it out (complete reinstallation of R and of a bunch of packages, which is not so fast on my old machine).
Bye, happy useRs!

  • [solved] kernel 3.2.8 fails with loading nvidia and virtualbox modules

Topic says it. I just updated from kernel 3.2.7 to 3.2.8 and X won't start. The kernel fails to load the nvidia module with the follwing error: 'Exec format error'. Same for the virtualbox kernel modules. This is on x86_64, multilib and all testing repos enabled.
    Downgrade to 3.2.7 by
    pacman -S core/linux
    solves the issue.

The vesa and fbdev errors were always there, those two are potential fallback drivers. What's new now is that instead of nvidia-utils installing a xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf, X has been patched to load nouveau, nv, nvidia, in that order. Since you don't have the first two installed, and you shouldn't if you want to use the third, you'll see error messages for them. It's normal.

  • Failed to load Execute Package Task error.

    Hello Experts,
    Excuse my newbie question.
Execute Package Task: Error: The task has failed to load. The contact information for the task is "Microsoft Corporation; Microsoft SQL Server; Microsoft corporation; All Rights Reserved http://www.microsoft.com/sql/support/default.asp:1"
We have a windows service running on our app server that deploys a package that executes other packages using execute package task. This package and rest of the packages are in the same folder at the same level under integration services
catalog. The package fails to execute with the above said error.
Execute package task is configured to run in 'in-process' mode. Changing delay validation to true/false in child packages didn't help.
ironically if the package is deployed using a console application from the app server the package gets executed just fine. I checked permissions, everything seem fine.
Is there anyway to get details of this error to understand the problem better? I am looking at reports > standard reports > all executions.
    Thanks.

As it turns out, the 63bit ExecPackageTask.dll was not found under "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\Binn". Installing "SQL Server Data Tools" installed only 32 bit version of the component under "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL
    Server\110\DTS\Binn".
Is there a way to get 64bit version of this component without installing "Integration Services" (to avoid possible license issues)?
    Hi Jayakarthiks,
To make use of the 64-bit ExecPackageTask.dll, you also need the 64-bit SSIS runtime and 64-bit DTExec utility tool. To obtain the 64-bit SSIS runtime and tools, you have to install the SQL Server Integration Services service from your SQL Server 2012 install
    media.

  • Lightroom 5.5 grid view fails to load some images.  These do load in develop, then re-appear in grid.  Re-installed 5.4 (after deleting 5.5, then emptying trash in 10.9.5) and it now exhibits same behavior.  Suggestions?

These same images fail to load in slideshows; "loading" appears without the image ever appearing.  I can export these grayed-out images and retrieve the image content in the exported file.  Not being able to see all images in grid view is an inconvenience for sure; e.g., I can't review all the contents of a collection before posting it.  This behavior didn't occur until I upgraded to 5.5.  Now it has migrated back into 5.4, despite having selected 5.5 and emptying trash before the re-install.

Whoa this is happening to me...

  • T410 reinstallation fails after loading some windows optional updates

Reinstalling a Thinkpad T410 Windows 7 Pro 64bit:  all is fine through Windows 7 SP1,  then all Thinkpad (Thinkvantage) drivers and then all the Windows security patches (to October 2013).
HOWEVER loading some optional windows updates ( Bluetooth), or Windows .Net, or some of the other optional updates result in -get this- any keyboard entry freezing the currently active application it is meant for.
All other applications open and work fine as long as only the mouse is used. A keyboard entry only freezes the application it is meant for.  I once succeeded in having Google respond by entering a VOICE search item, but could never cut and paste ( -> keyboard entry!) into a Google search or any application
Some other clues: rolling back (windows restore points) sometimes but NOT always return to a machine in good status. And starting in safe mode, the problem disappears. I have not had the patience to figure out which service /driver is causing the keyboard glitch. Will be ignoring these optional updates for now, but it would be good to know the reason this is happening ( a strange combination of drivers / inappropriate order loading updates? )

Since you deselected IIS & Tomcat, it sounds like the links defaulted to Tomcat (port 8080).  WACS requires IIS to run and port 6405 is what WACS listens on.  You have a couple options.
The easy solution would be to find the file:
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\bobjsetup\administrator_guide
Right click on the shortcut file and change it to point to:
    http://localhost:6405/CmcApp/help/en/administration/html/default.htm
Another option would be to uninstall and then do a full install rather than a custom install.  Let it install Tomcat and if it detects IIS, it will configure that as well.  Depending on how you plan to use the product, you may find yourself wanting to use Tomcat anyway.  If you've already spent a lot of time configuring your current system and are ok with changing the links as above, that would be the easiest solution.  Keep in mind, the latest revisions of the admin guide and other documentation can always be downloaded from Service MarketPlace.

  • [SOLVED] Would "pacman -S foo" fail if system's package list is old?

I'm new to Arch and want to understand my system as much as possible.
In several places in the wiki it is recommended to install a single package with "pacman -S foo" instead of "pacman -Sy foo" unless I'm doing a system upgrade at the same time, so that versions of foo and its dependencies are in sync with all the other packages on my system. This seems to be good advice and I follow it.
However, I recently read that the Arch repos only have the latest version of any given package. Now I'm confused. So what happens if the versions of foo and its dependencies on my package masterlist are outdated? Would "pacman -S foo" fail? If not, how can it possibly work if pacman is trying to install package versions that are no longer in the repository?
Last edited by bdantas (2014-06-18 12:34:01)

To be safest, always use `pacman -Syu <newpackage>`.
I generally use `pacman -S <newpackage>` which is a bit quicker - and this is fine if you update frequently.  I do a `-Syu` at least once a day.
Never ever do a `pacman -Sy <newpackage>`.  This can lead to severe breakage and potentially a completely unbootable system.  In fact never do `pacman -Sy` in any way unless there is also a 'u' there (i.e. "-Syu").  I think a feature request for pacman could be made to have a prompt when such a command is entered "Are you an idiot?[Y/n]  Do you want pacman to destroy your system? [Y/n]".
In contrast, `pacman -S <newpackage>` should never do any damage.  If your package database is still current, it will work fine.  If you package database is too old, it will exit with an error message without making any changes to your system.  The error message is along the lines of the package/file not being found in the repos or on the server(s).
EDIT: as this is already well covered in the wiki this may be best suited to the NC.

  • Error: The Task has failed to load on Execute Package Task using TFS Build and MSBuild.exe on dedicated Build Machine.

I'm trying to automate my building and deployment of SSIS packages using TFS build definitionss in conjunction with MSBuild.exe on a separate build machine.
I have successfully built and deployed my projects but receive the following error:
Error: Failed to load task "etl_UWP_Stage_tstg_7_Large",type "".  The contact information for this task is "Microsoft Corporation: Microsoft SQL Server .... "
This error happens at runtime as well as if I perform a "Validate..." on the SSIS Catalog on the server.
This only occurs when trying to execute a package that contains an Execute Package Task.  Any other packages that are doing the actual work are working just fine.
In addition, when I do the MSBuild from my developer machine with the same deployment process everything works fine, even the Execute Package Task.
I can even open up the project on the build machine in VS2012, rebuild all, then deploy and everything works fine.
    Some things I've considered/verified:
    1) Visual Studio 2012 and Visual Studio Data Tools 2012 are both on the build machine and my local machine.
    2) The .NET version being used by VS2012 is the same on the build machine and my local machine.
    3) I find it suspicious that the "Type" referenced in the error above is blank...but not sure where to go with that.
    4) Obvious difference is that during the TFS Build and Deploy on the build machine, everything is running under the TFS Service account, rather than my account...once again...not sure where to go with this, but it is a significant difference.
Has anyone had similar issues or have any thoughts on things to try?
    Thanks,
    Jason

Nevermind..got it working after configured that I have to put this line in .ncmpcpp/config:
    visualizer_look = "+|"
Anybody have a better look for the visualizer?
I also have tried several figures like "=="..hmm..kinda like it..

Do you have any idea of what should be done to fix it? I don't want to use NVIDIA driver from their site neither nouveau, I want to use the one from the repo. If you know how to solve it, instead of only pointing the solution, also tell why this is happening, it will help me and other people with the same problem too!
If you need additional information please ask me.
    Thanks!!

karol, I'll try to add the section you wrote to the xorg.conf, but first I want to show the log of the crash:

As it's mentioned, it may be a problem of ACPI.
About the lib32-nvidia-utils, I just installed because it's written in the wiki http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA#Installing: "Note: On 64 bit systems, For 32-bit programs to take advantage of nvidia-utils you must also install the equivalent lib32 package (for example lib32-nvidia-utils)."

  • [SOLVED]Get [FAIL] when loading user specified modules.

That is it, when the system is booting i get a [FAIL] message when loading user specified modules after upgrading udev, and the kmod new module handling or something as say in the news. I dont have a modprobe.conf or a modprobe.conf.pacsave file either and creating a modprobe.conf file doesn't solve the problem. The strange thing is that the modules are loaded anyways. I mean the ones that are specified in rc.conf. I dont know if the system [FAIL] to load that modules or others...The system works fine for now too.
    Thanks.
PD: sorry if you notice my poor english.

I had the same problem and removing the governor performance from rc.conf solved the problem. I tried however to remove both governors and only leave powernow-k8 (this is the only one that works for me) leaving rc.conf like this:
    MODULES=(brcmsmac powernow-k8)
When I boot the laptop and check which governors are available and being used I get the following:
    [netlak@soulrebel ~]$ cpufreq-info
    cpufrequtils 008: cpufreq-info (C) Dominik Brodowski 2004-2009
Report errors and bugs to [email protected], please.
    analyzing CPU 0:
    driver: powernow-k8
CPUs which run at the same hardware frequency: 0
CPUs which need to have their frequency coordinated by software: 0
    maximum transition latency: 8.0 us.
    hardware limits: 800 MHz - 2.10 GHz
available frequency steps: 2.10 GHz, 1.50 GHz, 800 MHz
    available cpufreq governors: performance
current policy: frequency should be within 800 MHz and 2.10 GHz.
The governor "performance" may decide which speed to use
    within this range.
current CPU frequency is 2.10 GHz.
This like as if the ondemand governor would not be available but when unplugging the laptop and check again I get this:
    [netlak@soulrebel ~]$ cpufreq-info
    cpufrequtils 008: cpufreq-info (C) Dominik Brodowski 2004-2009
Report errors and bugs to [email protected], please.
    analyzing CPU 0:
    driver: powernow-k8
CPUs which run at the same hardware frequency: 0
CPUs which need to have their frequency coordinated by software: 0
    maximum transition latency: 8.0 us.
    hardware limits: 800 MHz - 2.10 GHz
available frequency steps: 2.10 GHz, 1.50 GHz, 800 MHz
    available cpufreq governors: ondemand, performance
current policy: frequency should be within 800 MHz and 2.10 GHz.
The governor "ondemand" may decide which speed to use
    within this range.
current CPU frequency is 800 MHz.
This shows that the ondemand module can be autoloaded when needed, so I leave rc.conf only with powernow-k8.
    Thanks for your help.

  • [SOLVED] XOrg fails to load Nvidia driver on startup

    Hi,
I'm having a fairly strange issue where XOrg is failing to load my driver when I start up my laptop. I'm using kdm, but this is causing it to fail. However, doing a simple
    $sudo systemctl restart kdm
works, and everything starts up fine. When kdm is in the failed state, I see this:
    $sudo systemctl status kdm
    ● kdm.service - K Display Manager
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/kdm.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)

Dec 19 18:47:27 laptop kdm[247]: X server for display :0 cannot be started, session disabled
And in my XOrg log, I see:

Hmmmm, that doesn't seem to be the issue. I have a nvidia geforce gtx 670mx. The nvidia website does link me to the 340xx driver for that card, but downgrading to that version still has the same issue. I suspect the issue is in Xorg, since it seems to load the module, but then decides it doesn't have a driver to run for some reason.

  • [Solved] Catalyst fails to load kernel module

I have just been through the Catalyst install guide, I installed from the Vi0L0 repos rather than building myself.
    Everything appeared to go fine, however fglrx fails to load when I reboot. The xorg log contains;
fglrx(0): atiddxDriScreenInit failed. Probably kernel module missing or incompatible
    fglrx(0): **********************************************************
    fglrx(0): * DRI initialization failed
fglrx(0): * kernel module (fglrx.ko) may be missing or incompatible
    fglrx(0): * 2D and 3D acceleration disabled
    fglrx(0): **********************************************************
Is this recoverable? Or does this mean that the current Vi0L0 module has not been built for my kernel (3.11.5-1-ARCH)?

This issue has now been resolved after the update to xorg 1.14
    lsmod | grep fglrx
shows fglrx is not loaded, and:
    modprobe fglrx
    returns with;
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'fglrx': Exec format error
Does that indicate a 32/64 bit issue?
