Tax on Restocking Fees

My client has this requirement
1)The Goods are shipped with freight charges and tax is also calculated on the same.
2)The goods are returned againt RMA and the customer is charged with the "Restocking fees" in this order(RMA order is copied from original order)
3)The client wants the restocking fees also charged to tax.
I am encountering the following issue
The autoInvoice program is taking the credit memo associated with the transaction type associated with the original order type and not the return order type
C)If we don’t give a credt memo type in the transaction type for the original orde type r,the credit memo given in the following profile option is taken
OM: Credit Memo Transaction Type
What I should do to ensure that the AutoInvoice Program takes the credit memo type associated with the Invoice Transaction Type for the Return Order Type
Would appreciate any help
thanks

I'm not so sure, I don't know if there are restocking fees for basic accessories such as cases, screen protectors, etc... however I think the more advanced accessories may be treated a bit differently than those.
For example, my employer's discount gives me a discount on accessories. This discount used to be available on ALL accessories but has recently changed to exclude the more advanced accessories such as Android Wear Watches, Nest, Wemo, Fitbit, Up, etc...
Whether or not they treat restocking fees differently on the normal/advanced accessories you would probably have to find out on a case by case basis. Let us know if you are charged one when returning the device.

  • Taxes, Fees, and the bottom line?

So, I'm looking at the More Everything Plan with 4GB's which shows the monthly bill for 120.00 for one line. I'm also looking at the 3GB one for 110.00 a month. I know there are extra charges, taxes, and activation fees. Does anyone have one of these two plans and wouldn't mind telling me the bottom line?
(I'm looking at the Samsung Galaxy s5 if that helps.)

I don't know. The billing cycle date is chosen at random. The first is always higher as you are paying for a partial billing and the full month cycle plus the activation/upgrade fee, taxes and regulatory fees.

  • Calculation of taxes on condition types

    hi team,
I am using different condition types in my calculation schema. whenever lumpsum amounts are fed in the system, like Discount/Quantity, Absolute discount, Header Disc.(Value), Header Surch.(Value), Pack & Forward-Value, Pack & Forward- Qty, Freight/Quantity, Freight (Value), LC/Bank Charges(Val), Entry Tax/Octroi(V) Road Tax (Value), Registration Fees(V), Miscellaneous(Value) & Miscellaneos/Quntity, are independent of each other on which tax etc should not be calculated.
My client is inserting these values including tax. so, he dont want cascading effect on these values.
he wants only those values with % should have cascading effect.
how to confiure the same in calculation schema.
my schema currently is having cascading effect.
    thanks
    satish

    any updates.

  • Restocking fee option not available on ebay.ca

ebay.ca does not offer the restocking fee option that ebay.com has available in their settings. Not surprising we are always left in the stone age when it comes to changes. With the new return process I`ve had more return requests in the past 2 weeks than I have had in almost 10 years on ebay. Yet another unnecessary change. Now when I go to issue a refund when the item is returned it only gives the option to refund the full item cost. Will have to refund through paypal and see how the return process handles or acknowledges the partial refund.

Noticed the same thing.   Essentially, the ebay hassle free returns feature is not yet ready for sites other than ebay.com so I went ahead and disabled it for now in site preferences.  I will turn it on again once they fully implement it including the ability to setup restocking fees.

  • Help! $42 vague surcharge in addition to gov and other fees!

Help!... I just got my first bill and in addition to all the plan fees, government fees, taxes and other surcharges, is a vague Verizon surcharge that raised by bill by 33%. My bill went from an outrageous 112.00 to an outrageously egregious 154.00! 154.00 a month for limited talk and limited data! How could I have comparison shopped if they slip a vague charge like that in? Of course, there is no customer service link anywhere to contest this.
    A - How do I contest this?
B - How do I early terminate this contract before it bankrupts me?
Please help, my wife and I may have to eat cat food to pay for this plan... and my wife hates fish.

  • Billing Problem: Tax and Franchise Fee for Internet Service

As I said it's likely not fixed. They likely just issued a one time credit to offset the charges, but the charges will just be back next month. I already said agents have no control over taxes.

I am currently being charged tax and a franchise fee for my internet only service. I do not have cable/TV service. I have verified this fact with two Comcast representatives. However, my account as it appears online shows that I have cable/tv service. As per H.R. 3086 - 113th Congress (2013-2014), Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act - Amends the Internet Tax Freedom Act to make permanent the ban on state and local taxation of Internet access and on multiple or discriminatory taxes on electronic commerce.  Therefore, since the Comcast representatives verify that I have only Internet service, the tax and franchise fees on my bill are illegal. On numerous occasions I have requested that this error be addressed, and now I am resorting to this forum for some help before I file a complaint with my local utilities and other regulatory boards. My wish is not to create a problem for Comcast. I simply wish for my bill to be corrected and reflect only the legal charges associated with my account. Thus far, no Comcast representative has been able to address or correct this problem.

  • I am so sick of Verizon ripping me off and when I call the agents they are so rude to me.

I need help.  I know you say, it sounds like it, but I can't get the help from tech support, the agents that answer the phone or the supervisors.  My MINIFIED #G has not worked for over a year.  I finally realized that I could put it on suspend which I did and I can do it one more time.
I have 2 lines that are due for upgrades and new contracts..  I want an phone 4S and see that this can happen at rthew Apple Store.  should I have the Apple Store get me into an iPhone 4S or not?  I will lose the NE2 which for the cell line is $35 and the data line is $50.  is it possible to use any of the phones like the iPhone 4S like I used the MiFI2200 for?  Can I get a phone these days and hook my MacBook Pro up to it and have the phone act like a Mobile HotSpot?
If that is so there is no reason to gt a 4G mobile hotspot.
what is the best smartphone to get that has the capability to be used as a mobile hot spot and is not too hard?
does anybody else have trouble with this company?  do they treat you like you are a loser?  Iam promised by supervisors that they will call me and help me get set-up with the devices you need but I never get a call. I am only told "I called you but you did not answe the phone.
what is the best cell carrier to use these days?
what is the best smartphone for my data line that has the $50 NE2 hooked up to it?  Every phone I read about says the battery is crappy.  there is not one phone that I read about that has all good marks. Just at the beginning of summer there were tons of people saying I can't wait for fall when this comes out that will be the best time.
I got one of the agents to document if any of my devices do not work they will not charge me restocking fees but I do not know if there are any devices worth the cost this company charges.  I have a MoTO phone that is 8 years old, can't do text messages and I have unlimited.  the data device and line is suspended and I pay $80/mo and I talk to friends with other carriers whohave complicated smartphones, unlimited calls and texts and data and they pay $90/mo.
what does a person who does not know the phones do like me?  Are there any phones that are really worth going through a new plan and getting all set up, sign a new contract and have it be worth it?
there has got to be som people here who can help an idiot like me.  I used to be satisfied with the MOTO basic cell phone and the MIFI2200 3G. it was awesome. I would go on a trip, take my MacBok Pro and HOOK IT UP TO THE MIFI AND JUST SURF THE INTERNET, FIND A HOTEL and that was it.
I just need to know if this company is worth staying or should I go to a better carier like ATT
what is the phone that allows a person to hook their laptop to and suf without ot depleating my data allowance for the month?
I am in need of big help.  thanks for any help and Merry Christmas.  I won't be getting a phone under my tree because nobody in my family knows what ssmatphones are worth it.
should I cancel the data line I saved for the $50 NE2 or save it and get one of the new data devices?  if I should then that means none of the decent phones will allow me to use the phone as a data mobile hotspot or are there good phons that will allow me to use the phone for this purpose?
I thought the Androids were supposed to be the next best thing.  is the Droid a good phone?
I need help big time and help with what is a good phone and if it is the iPhone 4S can I use that phone and have it be easy and use oitas a mobile hotspot.

If you suspended without billing, you are not completing your contract on that line.  Each month you suspend without billing adds one month to your contract period.

If that is so there is no reason to gt a 4G mobile hotspot. If you want a 3G phone (like the iPhone), then you'll only have 3G speeds.
what is the best smartphone to get that has the capability to be used as a mobile hot spot and is not too hard? Look on Verizon's site, each phone listing specifies if it supports the mobile hotspot, and you can read reviews.
does anybody else have trouble with this company? No.  do they treat you like you are a loser? Nope.  Iam promised by supervisors that they will call me and help me get set-up with the devices you need but I never get a call. I am only told "I called you but you did not answe the phone. Maybe they did.  Why don't you purchase your phone in-store and ask them for help setting up your phone if that is important to you.
what is the best cell carrier to use these days? The one that provides adequate service in the areas you use your phone at a price you find to be a good value.  You need to do some research to determine that.
what is the best smartphone for my data line that has the $50 NE2 hooked up to it? If you add a phone to your data line, you'll need a calling plan for that line.  Why do you want two smartphones?  Why not just cancel the data line after the contract expires if you plan to get a phone with a mobile hotspot to replace that functionality?  Every phone I read about says the battery is crappy. Smartphones do not have the 2-3 day battery life many people became accustomed to with basic phones, but many of them last through the day easily, you just have to charge them at night.  Again, read the reviews to determine the best phone for you.  there is not one phone that I read about that has all good marks. And there never will be, no one phone is great for everyone, nor is any phone free of flaws.  Just at the beginning of summer there were tons of people saying I can't wait for fall when this comes out that will be the best time. There's always something new around the corner...
I got one of the agents to document if any of my devices do not work they will not charge me restocking fees but I do not know if there are any devices worth the cost this company charges. If you exchange a phone due to an issue covered by the warranty you will get a new phone in the first 14 days, and a refurbished unit after that.  As far as the cost, if you don't like Verizon's selection, then look at other carriers, or consider buying older phones used from eBay or the like. I have a MoTO phone that is 8 years old, can't do text messages and I have unlimited.  the data device and line is suspended and I pay $80/mo and I talk to friends with other carriers whohave complicated smartphones, unlimited calls and texts and data and they pay $90/mo. A basic one line plan with unlimited texting and 2GB of data on Verizon is $89.99 + taxes/fees.  I think the mobile hotspot capable data plans are $20/month more.
what does a person who does not know the phones do like me? Research, and then play with the phones in store.  Also, buy your phone at a store with friendly staff who can help you get set up.  You may have to go to more than one. Are there any phones that are really worth going through a new plan and getting all set up, sign a new contract and have it be worth it? Maybe, how much do you care about the features and capabilities of a smartphone?  Enough to deal with some hassle and learning curve?  If not, a basic phone may be better for you?
there has got to be som people here who can help an idiot like me.
I just need to know if this company is worth staying or should I go to a better carier like ATT Do some research about coverage and cost, and then make a decision.
what is the phone that allows a person to hook their laptop to and suf without ot depleating my data allowance for the month? Any mobile hotspot use will come out of your data allowance.
I don't know if you would be better off with a basic phone + data device, or a smartphone with mobile hotspot.  There are advantages to both setups.  You can use Verizon's site to do some mock orders and see what the cost difference would be between the two options.
I thought the Androids were supposed to be the next best thing.  is the Droid a good phone? There is a large selection of Android phones, and many people like them.  You'll need to read some reviews and play with a few to choose the one you may like.
I need help big time and help with what is a good phone and if it is the iPhone 4S can I use that phone and have it be easy and use oitas a mobile hotspot.

  • Frusterated with huge bills and no help

So last week I went into Verizon to get my tablet fixed. I ended up getting convinced to get a second tablet for my husband and upgrade my data to 4 gigs with a promotional deal. I was told one of my activation fees (for my husband's cell phone) would be removed. My monthly bill is supposed to be 150 plus tax with all my new stuff. I expect to pay about 180 plus tax with the one activation fee (for the new tablet). I am now getting an email saying that with my new plan next month will cost me around 239 before taxes and other fees. I am a student on a budget who always pays her bills on time. This is the second time this has happened. The rep I purchased this from told me to call her work number or text when my bill came if I had questions. I left her a voicemail and sent two texts but heard nothing. I love my devices but I am feeling ignored and cheated out of money :(

Take back the tablet and pay the restocking fee.  Cheaper in the long run.
How much data did you have before for what cost?   How much was promised rate for 4 GB?

  • Feeling ripped off by VZW?  I understand!

<< Moved from https://community.verizonwireless.com/community/apple/iphone4s for better subject match >>
I just had the wrost experience ever!!!  After receiving an email thanking me for my payment of $533.35 I called customer service!  They charged me for early termination fee of $350.00 even though I cancelled within 14 days!  RIPOFF!!!  I had wanted to switch to another carrier after having what I had thought to be bad customer support and service with another carrier.  Man was I wrong!  We purchased two new phones and signed up for a family plan with verizon.  Our reservation was  the data plan being limited to 2 GB and the anytime minutes being reduced to 700 anytime while raising our monthly bill by $40.00. We decided to only activate one phone of the two to try it out. Over the next 5 business days I watched the usage tracker.  It was scary enought for us to return our phones and cancel our verizon service.  After taking the phone and the service for a test drive for 1 week, I Somehow racked up $323.00 in less than 8 days!!! $140.00 restocking fees, $70.00 for each phone (one was unopened) but the kicker was the fact that for the 8 days with 1 phone in usage, We racked up $183.00 in usage and taxes?!!!  That is ridiculous!!!  That is more than the family plan that we had signed up for both phones for a full months worth of service!!!  The worst part of this story is that only after you receive the billing statement and call customer service to let them know of the mistake in billing do they credit your account back.  What if I hadnt checked my email?  or set up the notification on my previous account?  I have several friends and family that I will gladly send this experience to.  I would be happy to speak with a customer service Mgr that could provide a fix to this major problem!  However until that happens I will continue to post my experience whenever and wherever I can!
When I called they said that there was nothing that could be done about the charges and the Mgr declined to speak or work with me.

verizon customer service is so bad thet they cannot read the notes on the account or they purposely act that they cannot read.  I called them to cancel my jet pack account in oct 2013.  they talked me into moving to a cell phone account. long story short I did agree on the condition they would terminate my jet pack account without the termination fee. the reap over the phone assured me that my account is canceled and we are good. Not so true. 2 months later I received a past due notice for my account and charges for 2 months. I called verizon and no one seems to know what im talking about. finaly one manger sees it and told me he reversed the charges. next day I signed in and the charges are still there and round 2. 3. 4 and still missing around with me. one rep told me that 192 dollars were charges from the last bill while the account was active even though i canceled the account before then.  I went ahead and paid them any way because im tired of the **** there was another balance of 111 dollers thwy said they would credit that ammount which has been over 10 days and still shows I owe verizon the ammount. Verizon customer service is so terrible . I will pay them the termination fee for the new service that they dumped on me and dump this company for ever. I was planning to move my family plan and my company plans to verizon. now I know not to. verizon is so smart. they got greedy over 300 dollers but lost an potential customer that was going to move an account worth millions of dollers. Thank you verizon for giving the heads up

  • Verizon to big?, customer service lacking

Customer Service run around - Has Verizon gotten too big, to big to handle the customers.  I did a Verizon Edge contract on to lines that were eligible for upgrades.  I received the phones on December 27th and went to the store with the phones. The phones I received were the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. I asked if I could get both lines with 6 Plus and the rep at the store suggested I send them both back to iPhone 6 and 6 Plus to receive both gray iPhone 6 Plus, due to no restock fees. I called customer service and they sent a return label, I asked how long would it take and the reply as soon as they see the shipping label you can get your phones. Well it has been down hill from there. I sent the phones in on January 5, 2015. I followed the tracking number and the warehouse received them on the January 15, 2015. Now in between time I call customer service and they claim they have no tracking number, go thing I made a copy. I was told I can go into the store and get the new phones. I did and the store told me sorry I am under the Edge contract. I call customer service again and this time I was told I had to wait until the end of my billing cycle. Now which is another 12 days. I did and to no avail, I call customer service, I chatted on line to customer service and I have been on facebook with customer service, and I get it will be 24 hours. I spent the next 5 days on the phone trying to get this corrected and every time I get, it will be 24 hours. I even received a phone call stating it is fixed, which when I longed on line it wasn't fix and I called back to hear, it will be another 24 hours. Today is the 31st and I call once more and explain the whole situation all over again, well sir we will expedite it and it will be 3 to 5 days WHAT???? another 3 to 5 days!!!!!  I have asked to speak to a supervisor and was told "I will e-mail him" - no calls.  Meanwhile my account has been charged additional $190, over my normal bill.  I took the advise of the store clerk and the on-line rep, no problem just send them back and we will get you your iPhone 6 Plus's you have been with Verizon for 6 years you are a good customer. It has been 35 days from the start of the return and I have lost $120 in trade in for both my iPhone 5s and my bill is $391.00 - this has gotten expensive and drawn out.  How do you fix customer service?

Verizon is by far the worst company I have ever had to deal with and we were customers since before when it was All-tel (a great company btw).  Every time you call with a complaint or a dispute about a bill they make it seem like you are getting your issue resolved and then boom- next bill some new **** charges that don't even make sense.  Furthermore, they got  a family member of mine to accept a tablet under false pretenses.  She understood the deal with her new phone was a free tablet and she thought that meant free!  Well, no there was a $35 registration fee. A $10 activation fee and a one month prorated fee, which once all was said and done and you add in taxes and surcharges, the bill was over $50 higher.  She never even opened the box and when she went to return the device saying she only took it under the false pretenses, they wanted to charge a $70 **** restocking fee!  This company is the worst ever.  I have already pulled 2 of 4 of my phones and can not wait until my contracts are up for the other 2 and be rid of this crap for good!  And I haven't even gotten started on the service in my area!!!!!

  • Return to Apple if you buy from Amazon?

If you buy a MacBook Pro on Amazon, will Apple allow you to return it to them, or do you have to return it to Amazon? Because it would be great to take advantage of the rebate!
    Thanks!

I would never buy from Apple. They have restocking fees, charge tax and don't have any special deals on new items. Always go with amazon - they have great return policies, extremely fast and inexpensive shipping, great prices and don't charge sales tax. You can't beat that.
If you have a problem with your new 'book, and I hope you won't, you just return it to amazon and they'll send you another one as soon you email them the tracking number of your return. They'll pay for return shipping too. If you sign up for a free three month trial of their premier service, you'll pay 3.95 for next day shipping or free second day shipping. If they need to send you a replacement, they'll use the same shipping method you chose.
I love amazon and buy all my expensive technology from them. I've never been disappointed and always feel confident when I make a purchase from them.
    Good luck!

  • Return or exchange Galaxy S3 and keep unlimited data?

I have preordered a Galaxy S3 and it's been shipped already, should be delivered on Monday. After finding out about the encrypted bootloader on this phone I'm not sure I want it anymore (I'll save that rant for somewhere else). If I return the device will I keep my unlimited data? I ordered it prior to June 28th. I've read conflicting info about restocking fees. Do I need to refuse delivery from Fedex or can I accept delivery and go through normal return methods without being charged a fee? Paying $35 to return a phone that's still in its shrink wrap seems ridiculous.
I'm also trying to decide whether I'd prefer a Galaxy Nexus. I know that if I return the S3 and then try to re-use my upgrade, I'll lose unlimited data. Is there a way for me to do a direct exchange of one device for the other, so that I'm not technically cancelling one upgrade and re-using it?

I would just refuse delivery if you don't want the phone. If you
return this phone your upgrade will fall under the new upgrade after June 28,
2012 and as such you will have to move to the new plans when you upgrade at
subsidized prices. You do have the right to return for exchange I was told by VZW rep
but then again your mileage may vary as to what you do.  It is not a set thing and no one
at VZW will always to the samething in all locations.  Again buyer beware.  The last phone I
returned by just not accepting delivery which was just late last year VZW
charged the restocking fee but I mentioned to the person I called that it was
still not opened.  They said the phone
still had to go back as an opened phone as they had to open the package to make
sure everything was in the box as the shrink wrap could have been re-shrunk by
someone else in shipping.  They told me
they did not take any returns without an inspection of the contents.  I hope your mileage will vary with your
return.  Once they go back they go to
refurbished phones?  I have been seeing
people complain they are getting new phones with no battery cover and VZW tells
them to return them which I am sure VZW will charge the re-stocking fee
anyway.  These issues are why I don’t
order phones off the web site.  I only
    purchase from a VZW store.

  • Can I return My IMac to exchange it for a Macbook Pro?

I have had a IMac 27 inch since march and it is the newest one. I dont like it, so can i return it for a macbook pro? I have the receipt and everything that it was bought with.
Please let me know, because im going to the apple store soon!

If it is past 30 days then no you cant, which by what you said in your post; you purchased in march. If it is in the past 30 days then you will most likely only be able to do it through corporate apple. To the best of my knowledge the Apple retail stores aren't fit to handle returns and exchanges all that well. So call 1-800-my-apple or chat with an apple store rep to ask about exchanges. If you want directions for how to chat then just ask, they are lengthy so I don't want to type them if you aren't going to use them.
Remember, you can only exchange/return within 30days, restocking fees may be applied. See Apple, Inc. For more information.

  • Beware of Verizon Home Fusion Service - DO NOT BUY

    Warning! Warning! Warning!
Do not do business with Verizon
They will do everything possible to steal from you.
They are worse than the government. They are worse than the big banks. They are worse than the airlines.
Hidden fees? Check. Lies from store associates? Check. False advertising? Check.
The degree to which Verizon is able to rob its customers without government intervention or a class-action lawsuit is unbelievable.
If you make the mistake of signing up for a Home Fusion account, here is the agony you will suffer:
    1) Unlike any other form of home internet, you will be locked into a 2-year contract. You will not be told about this. You will not be asked to sign any paperwork. You will just be locked into a contract and then threatened with a $350 fee if you try to cancel your service - even if you're dissatisfied with the quality of the internet connection.
    2) Every month, you will be charged a hidden "$20 access fee" in addition to the fee you pay for your data. So if you think you're going to be paying $90 a month for internet, get ready for a rude surprise that you'll actually be paying $110 per month.
    3) You will also be charged $15 for every GB you go over for your plan. Verizon of course is hoping that you will go over so they can slap you with feesor upgrade you to a more expensive plan.
    4) You will be shown one price and then charged another. If you visit the website for Home Fusion or review the prices shown in marketing materials, you will see that 30GB plans are $120 per month. You will sign up for that plan, then receive your bill and discover that Verizon wants to charge you $185 a month instead. They will never tell you about this discrepancy, they will just start charging you whatever you want. Don't like the abuse? You can always cancel and Verizon will charge you a $350 cancellation fee.
You will be ripped off. You will be disrespected. You will be lied to.
For your own sake, please do not sign up for Verizon Home Fusion and if you can... do not sign up for any Verizon services. I am cancelling all of my plans because of the poor treatment I have received.
I've attached to this post the fake pricing that Verizon shows on their site. This is not the pricing they will actually charge you when you sign up. Buyer beware.

I'm sorry you are going through this.   I hope you let Customer service know the cost is almost double what you were told.
This seems to be a common complaint with this type of service.  I think it's a shock how much internet service we can consume.   Most customers sign up for just a few GB and keep getting hit with big overage charges.
I use Cable internet and have a 300 GB "allowance", but they don't charge for overage.   You would think that too much and we would never come close.  But every month we are just about up to the max.   With cable TV cut to the bone, we use Streaming players a lot and they use a lot of data.
You do have a contract you can view online.   In "My Verizon"  under "My Profile", choose Documents/receipts.
This lists your records and view in PDF provides the details.
I'm guessing they add equipment cost "rental" on every month .   And then the crazy high taxes and FCC fees also.
Do they add "repeaters" inside also that they charge for monthly?

  • Can I Escape my Cable Company with Internet TV?

I just checked my cable bill today after our free trial of a DVR box from our cable company, and while the service has been excellent (they also have my phone and internet), at $67 a month plus tax and service fees for TV alone, I could buy a whole bunch of equipment and still save some $$. My son doesn't have cable tv but watches hulu for most shows.
I was wondering what the possibilities are, what equipment I'd need, and what are the potential pitfalls of going internet tv and getting the signal to 1 HiDef TV and 2 CRT type tvs (no digital receivers on those).
The latest issue of MacWorld says that the Apple TV interface isn't quite all it is cracked up to be and there are elegato tv thingies on sale at OWC, but I have to confess, although I've used Macs since 1984, I have never bothered to investigate the technology for TV so it is Greek to me. I was not enthused about the idea of using my business computer for storing, even temporarily, huge video files on the HD....
I believe my HiDef TV will receive digital signals from Pittsburgh stations, because before I installed cable, I picked up OTA stations, but that was before the switch, so I don't know for a fact whether that was digital or regular broadcast... That was 2 years ago...
I guess what I'm not sure about mostly is creating a the multi floor setup for my particular situation. My cable company provides me with one cable modem in the basement. The rest of the coax cables are set to stream the HD and Analog signals to the other jacks in the house. (my older TVs -one in the basement and one on the second floor-are SD and pre digital. They can see the Analog signals, but the cable company sells boxes to allow the tv's to get digital and hd signals IF I wanted to pay for them.)
My Setup: I have my computer, router and cable modem box in the basement and one analog tv in another room in the basement, the HD TV is on the 1st floor and I have one analog tv on the second floor (2 floors away from my computer).
I assume that the Apple TV is wireless and perhaps can get a signal from the basement through the floor, but how would I wire up the 2 analogs, even if they would work with the Apple TV... I assume both the Apple TV and the Elegato system works through an internet attachment through a computer, or does the Elegato pull signal from the cable company and make is usable on conputer (but not a TV)...?
Would you, could you, run the signals from the computer back up the coax somehow and feed it to the other TVs?
Right now, with phone, internet, and tv on the same coax system, I can't lose one to save money on the other

0r does the Elegato pull signal from the cable company and make is usable on conputer
Yes. The El Gato devices are for getting content from an antenna or cable connection into the computer. If you want to bring OTA television broadcasts into your computer, a device like those made by El Gato might be of interest to you.
The Apple TV cannot (without hacking) access content other than from the iTunes Store, so it would not be useful for getting shows from other sources such as Hulu. You'd therefore need to figure out how to connect your computer(s) to your various TVs. Working out all the various distribution issues involved in HDMI and analog would probably be better taken up on an AV-related from such as the AV Science Forum.
As to the "pitfalls" of dropping your cable service, the largest pitfall is that though a number of TV shows have been made available on the Internet, by no means have all, or even a significant percentage, of the available shows been made available for streaming or download. So before you drop your cable service, you'll want to investigate whether or not the shows you care about are available somewhere on the Internet, at a price that you deem reasonable (some are made available for free by including commercials but some you have to pay per episode).
Another thing to consider; you may find that you're getting a "package" deal if you, as you indicate, have TV, Internet and phone all from the cable company and that if you drop one service, the price on the others will go up. This may make dropping TV service less attractive, so be sure to check that out.
    Hope this helps.
