Understand the bandwidth usage on production.

Hi all, i try to understand the bandwidth usage on production time on the network. I took one C3560G with all device are conected to 1000Mb/s.
I make: show int gi0/1
  5 minute input rate 320000 bits/sec, 555 packets/sec
  5 minute output rate 9787000 bits/sec, 821 packets/sec
The total is: 10.1 Mb/sec (on this port)
In all active port the summary is: 47 Mb/s (input rate+output rate in all ports)
So, i used 4,7% of the total of the bandwidth. And in cacti (by snmp) software i see one device transfer data with a maximun of 24Mb/s. Why don't use more bandwidth if is available?
Some can give me a hand to understand this?
Thanks!

So, the bandwidth is limited for the windows size. How i manualy set the RWIN? in a LAN is posible?
Yes, it's often possible.  How depends on the host.  Search the Internet for BDP and your host IOS, and you'll likely find how to adjust.
PS:
BTW, too large a RWIN can cause a sender to send too many packets at one time which can result in drops.  Have you checked your transit interfaces for drops?
Ideally, RWIN should be sized for BDP; not smaller and not larger.

  • How can i calculate the bandwidth usage of my Azure subscription?

    Hi,
I know currently there is no API which provide bandwidth usage details. Is there any other way to find out my subscription's bandwidth usage?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Please have a look at below thread.
    Here is a snippet.
The Azure SDK doesn't provide any billing or consumption information programatically. As lgorek stated, you can approximate usage with IIS And WCF performance counters. And you'll also be able to use your own logging to track traffic from different users.
However, you won't be able to track bandwidth consumed when users download content from blob storage. Well, you could, but only if all of your blobs were private and you streamed their content through your web application instead of direct links on your web
    pages .

  • Can anybody help me to understand the CPU usage logs

    Hello community,
I try to find the faulty machine in our network, but I don`t understand the logfiles. We have many servers which normally work very fast and reliable.
But sometimes we have such a huge cpu usage drain on our server. Nobody knows where it comes from, so I looked in the vsphere web client and looked in the cpu usage logs.
Following you can see two pictures. One is from the main host. It shows only a cpu usage of a maximum of 45 %.
When I look on the vmware machines I can see a cpu usage of more than 150%.
This is something I completely not understand. How is it possible that the main host machine has only a 45% cpu usage and the clients are exploding?
I don`t have set a cpu usage limit in our resource pool.
The next thing is. When I look on the vmmachines, I can not identify the faulty machine. Because when one machine increases the cpu usage many others increase too. Whatever why.
Can somebody explain me the pictures below please:
    Thank you for your time
    Paul

You don't have any need to understand this code. The complication is due to the registry needing a fixed objectID.
You just need to know the methods of java.rmi.registry.LocateRegistry class. This allows you to start an RMI Registry inside your JVM and give it any TCP port number you like.

  • 100 percent bandwidth usage

I have two 2 Cisco 2821-VK/9 routers between 2 offices. The connection between the 2 is a 2 Meg diginet line.
When ever I copy a file between the two sites that is more than 1 Gb in size, the bandwidth usage is 100 % and it takes a very long time to complete.
Could you please advice what I should do.
    Regards
    Cyril

    Hi Cyril,
I'll assume since you're posting in the UC section that your question in some way relates to voice/video traffic on that link and perhaps not just to the length of time taken to copy large files.
you might want to consider implemented a QoS policy on your network if there isn't one already in place.
You can start with some light reading here.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/5x/50nstrct.html#wp1043960
It won't make your 1Gb files copy faster but it can help stop them choking off your other network traffic.

    Paul

  • Need Information for the Status & usage in the routing

    HI all,
I need some inforamation ,  what is impact if i will use in the routing ,  usage 1- Production & 4 -- released general &  Suppose i will use universal 3  &  4 released general .  What will be impact .
    Regrads
    satish

    Hi Satish ,
Task list type usage Key specifies the areas in which the task list can be used (for Example, in production or plant Maintenance).
Status: You use the status key to indicate the processing status of a task list.  For example, you can indicate whether the task list is still in the creation phase or has already been released.
Dependencies: Note that certain transactions are dependent upon the status of the task list. For example, you can only include a reference operation set in a routing if the routing has the status "Released (general)".
    Case 1: If you use
Usage 1 - Production     If you use the usage key as 1 that means that the task list can only be used in Production if the status is released only.
    Status 4 - Released (General)
    Case 2 :
    If you use
Usage - 3   Universal   which means that the routing can be used in the Production , Engg/ Design, Plant maintenance  areas etc if the status is released only.
    Status - 4 Released(General)
Hope it is useful for you.
    Thanks

  • How to globally limit the bandwidth of FMS 3.5

    Hi all,
Can you give me a hint on how to solve this or confirm me the following ?
Is it possible to limit globally the bandwidth usage of FMS 3.5 ?
I don't want FMS  to use all the bandwidth available via our ISP.
I want my coworkers and other servers to be able to continue using Internet while sending/receiving data from/to FMS
I know it is possible to limit various bandwidths per Applications, but it seems there is no easy way - using the xml config files - to globally limit the server bandwidth.Ok I could compute a limit per app, but it is not a long terme solution to modify all the config files each time a new applications is to be installed.
So I think it is not possible to easily limit globally the bandwidth of FMS.
Do you agree with me ?
If not, how did you manage this : do you have an example, some code ?
    Thanks for your answers
    Fred

Thanks for the try, though I'd hope you aimed at a another solution
I think your proposition is not possible this way, because:
(It is for streaming only )
    1) say we have a BW of 100 [Mb/s] available for this FMS.
    2) the individual bw needed by the media files (indbw) within an application ranges from 200 [kb/s] to 2000[kb/s] (some files are audio, others medium quality video, some good quality video)
    3) the BandwidthCap (in application.xml) is  per connection within the application. (to simplify the talk we choose a BandwidthCap = indbw )
    4) the MaxConnections (in vhost.xml) is per vhost
The question is "which indbw one chooses to divide the available 100 [Mb/s] BW" : ( MaxConnections = BW divided by BandwidthCap )
    Two possibilities:
    A) Let's take audio only indbw, that's 200 [kb/s], then FMS can serve 500 connections
    B) Let's take good quality vid indbw, that's 20000 [kb/s], then FMS would be limited to 50 connections.
Both ways are not good :  in A) we risk jamming the internet link if too many of the connections are in fact streaming video, in B) we can not serve enough people and will likely waste some BW sinc not all clients will stream good quality video.
Does anyone has another hint about " how to globally limiting the bandwidth of Flash Media Server 3.5" ?

    if (( $UPDATE_CRON )); then
    /usr/bin/pkgfile --update >/dev/null

  • Wifi Calling - Bandwidth usage

Hi there I have bought an iPhone 6 so that I can use the wifi calling at home due to lack of phone signal. I am trying to find out the bandwidth usage for a call using this service? If I have a few friends around and my home internet is a terrible 1Mb down and 0.5 up - when will teh calls start bombing or jittering etc? I also work for a tech company and I'm interested how this will effect our client's office internet or their public wifi for the hospitality clients  Thanks in advance Neil

    Hi ,
Thanks for joining the EE Community.
To use WiFi calling we recommend a minimum connection speed of 1mbps.

  • How to calculate & provision the bandwidth ?

    Dear all,
I notice that the MARS hardware specification:
For EPS / FPS ... depends on the models.
But does it mean the capability that MARS can process both or either ?
For example, should we have to calculate both consumption of syslog packets & NetFlow packets when calculating the bandwidth?
Or we should just calculate either syslog packets or NetFlow packets when calculating the bandwidth usage?
Becuase the DCN is consisted of ATM switches, we must calculate & provision the bandwidth usage.
    Thanks & Appreciate

    Dear ...
The thing is ... whilst we made a traffic generation test at (64-byte length) line rate, the MARS55 told us she reached the capability limitation.
    That time, we only:
1.) turned on the syslog delivery with "rate-limit 1500 1" configuration on ASA5580-40
2.) turned on the permitted-ACL w/ log parameter.
I wonder at this time ... can MARS55 still process NetFlow data?
What we want to know is the MARS specification of EPS/FPS processing.
When either reaches the limitation, can the other one be processed?
Besides, the calculation of bandwidth usage depends on the MARS5 capability.
Right now we can only calculate the syslog messages bandwidth usage.
    For example:
Each syslog message = 200 bytes
    1500 syslog messages = 2400000bps = 2.4Mbps
    But for the FPS = 30,000 ... what's the relationship w/ Ethernet MTU ?
    Thanks & Appreciate

  • Limiting Bandwidth usage for MDT 2013

    Hello Technet,
I recently built up a MDT 2013 platform (on server 2k8R2) for deploying our Windows 7 image to over 125+ computers in our building at the same time.  Our deployment server, which is a VM, is located on the same host and switch as our web server
(not my design) and I am forced to limit the bandwidth usage to only 50%.  I know WDS was/is able to limit bandwidth usage when multicasting, but I haven't found anything online about MDT being able to limit it.
Do I need to have the WDS role installed on my server to limit the bandwidth or can MDT 2013 do this for me.  As always, any and all help is appreciated!

  • What is the actual bandwidth usage?

When I use Adobe Connect I am online and broadcasting for about 4 hours a day, for 10 days at a time. I only do screen sharing and voice -- no video.
I have DSL Internet. The DSL upload speeds are very poor (under 1Mb). To speed things up, I thought I'd look into getting a 4G hotspot, but I'm worried about actual bandwidth usage, since such plans have a practical limit of 5 or 10Gb per month.
My off-hand guess is that If I were to watch a video of myself, I guess it would be a couple of gigs for a four hour, non-HD video. So by that very rough guestimate, I'd hit 20Gb pretty easily over the 40 hours of my meeting. Is that right the way to think about it?
Has anyone monitored actual consumed bandwidth for a simple meeting of one person talking and sharing his screen? I'm not looking for definitive answers -- just some ballpark estimate of what such a meeting consumes each hour...
    Thanks! :-)

Page 22 of this document will give you some numbers that will allow you to estimate the total data used for a meeting. Keep in mind these numbers are what Adobe saw as average consumption, yours may be higher or lower.

  • Understanding the Router product line

I'm in the process of doing a comparison between the newer 2800 (2811 to be exact) vs. a 3725. I am finding (or atleast it appears) that it is apples to oranges. I noticed that I can find things like "packets per second" for the 3725, but the 2800 series talks about lots of slots and abilities for things like VoIP. Can someone help me to understand the difference between what they are calling an Access Router (3725 etc) and a Multi-Service Router (2800 etc..)? I consult for a wireless ISP and which has currently a 45Mbps 802.11A backbone. Right now is is a switched backbone with 2611XM's doing InterVLAN routing. We are moving to a routed network and feel we need to upgrade the routers.
    Thanks

Have you looked at the Cisco Product Quick Reference Guide (QRG)? The QRG is a good place to start for comparison of the various products and product lines. See http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/752/qrg/ for access.
Generally the 2811 would be good for a T-1 or two on the WAN side and the 3725 can accommodate higher speed WAN interfaces along with higher density port cards.
The 3725 will generally have more CPU horsepower but the AIM modules available on the 2800 series may offset that advantage depnding on what services you see your environment needing to use.
The 3700 series is also more expandable via a wider selection of interface cards.
Hope this helps - please rate the post if it does.

  • Measure the Network bandwidth usage

    Hi,
For application server, is there any Oracle tool to be used to measure the Network bandwidth usage?

    Hi,
The following policies are supported in Window 7
Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | Network | Background Intelligent Transfer Services (BITS) |Set up a maintence schedule to limit the maximum network bandwidth used for BITS Background transfers
or Set up a work schedule to limit the maximum network bandwidth used for BITS Background transfers
    see this link
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/wmi/archive/2011/02/02/bits-more-flexible-bandwidth-limit-policies.aspx
And download speed is also related with your network connection, your ISP, setting in your router, your system perfrormance...
