Web Services problem - Server connection error

Hi everybody.
When i try to enable the Web Services i get an error. I am connected to the internet (WiFi) and the connection is ok.
The error is the following:
Server Connection Error
The printer was unable to connect to the server. Check the internet connection and try again, or enter a proxy address.
I do not have a proxy, and the internet connection is ok! Why do i get this problem?
Thank you very much.

Let's set a static IP address for the printer:
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). You can find the DHCP range of the router using its internal settings page or in its manual. Use the CD that came with your router or type the router's IP address (ends in .1) into a browser.
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway and first DNS. Leave the second one blank.  <<< The DNS could be your problem.  If this does not work, try Google's DNS 8.8.8.8
- Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

  • Cannot enable ePrint Web Services - get internet connection error for HP LaserJet 1102W

I have a HP laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.  We just changed over to Comcast internet service from AT&T where my HP LaserJet 1102W was set up for ePrint.  After several hours, I was finally able to add the 1102W printer to the Comcast network, access the Embedded Web Server tool and print wirelessly but I cannot set up ePrint.  I have deleted the printer but cannot get it to connect to Web Services.  I keep on getting:  Connection Error. Check Internet Connection but again, I can print wirelessly successfully to the printer but would like to be able to set it back up for ePrint.  My Comcast router is an Arris TG862.
I have updated the firmware and used the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool but still am not able to get the ePrint Web Services to connect.  Here is the information from the Networking page of the EWS:

    Hi Surf1981,
I understand that you're not able to enable web services on your printer.  I would try steps listed below.
    1. Open an internet browser type printer's IP address.
    2. Should bring you to the printer's status page.
    3. Select networking tab at the top.
    4. Left hand side select Network Identification.
    5. Under DNS address Configuration select Manual DNS Server.
    6. For Preferred enter 8.8.8.8
    7. For Alternate enter 8.8.4.4
    8. Select apply. You might get a warning saying this could interrupt connection that's fine.
    9. Turn printer off for about 30 seconds then try again.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Alex8lf,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that you are unable to enable the Web Services for your Laserjet P1102w printer.
To enable the web services for your printer the printer needs to be up-to-date with the firmware. I have included a document with the steps to check your firmware version and if needed, how to update the firmware. Once the firmware is up-to-date, you can enable the web services and set up the ePrint.
I have included a document with steps for setting up ePrint and customizing the ePrint email address.  Please create your account on eprintcenter.com unless you live in the USA or the UK, then please create your account at hpconnected.com.

  • Web Services Server Connection Error

Although I was able to add my printer to hpeprintcenter successfully, after a few hours it was showing disconnected.  When I pressed refresh I received a popup saying my printer had been removed.  After clicking ok on the popup my printer was still listed and it's state was disconnected.  Some advice I read suggested I disable Web Services from my printer's menu and renable it which would give it a new email adddress.  I disabled it, but now when I try to enable Web Services the printer displays "Server Connection Error There was a problem connecting to the Server. Touch retry to connect again, or OK to Exit.".  I have retried multple times for the last 12 hours with no success.  Any suggestions?

I don't want to jump to that conclusion just yet. When you set the static IP from the front panel of the printer, did it let you set a static DNS? The static DNS is the important part of that step. If it didn't let you set the static DNS, go into the printer's EWS by typing it's IP address into a web browser. Set the printer to use Google's DNS (Preferred = 8.8.8.8 : Alternate = 8.8.4.4). Once you set the static DNS, power down the printer and router. Turn the router back on first and let it stabilize before turning the printer back on. It normally takes a minute or two for a router to stabilize. Let me know what happens.

We are using the Azure server for our web services. Server is generating an error "Unable to connect to the remote server". What is this error means

    Hello,
Did you means that you use the Windows Azure Virtual Machine DNS name as the server name in the Reporting Server Web Services URL?
    For example:
    Report server:http://uebi.cloudapp.net/reportserver
    Report manager:http://uebi.cloudapp.net/reports
If you want to connect to Report Manager on the virtual machine from a remote computer, you should create a  virtual machine TCP Endpoint and open the port in the virtual machine’s firewall. By default, the report server listens for HTTP requests
    on port 80.

  • Problem with scanning - printer display shows "Server connection error"

My printer has been working great and I have had no problems with scanning.  But two days ago, all of a succen I rec'd message "server connection error".  I tried to send to email as well as computer.  Got the same message.  As usual, I don't recall any action on my part that could have caused this problem.    The copying and printing functions work fine. Detailed advice to someone technically challenged will be much appreciated.  Thank you.

    Ran
into a problem with connecting to the DB on the SQL server from the IPAM server.  The Dba and I checked the target SQL instance was enabled TCP and listening on a valid TCP port.  SQL server was set to use port 1443 for incoming connections.
IPAM was set by default to use 1433.
    Also used
netstat-n to identify issue and verified 1443 on SQL server was
being used.  Made the correction under the IPAM provisioning wizard and connected to the database.  Fixed.
Important note I was able to connect to the database with a .udlfile
    without any issues
Also note that 2012 R2 IPAM only supports 2012 SQL Enterprise.  Why?

  • Can't re-add printer after removing from eprint center - 'Web Services Problem'

I have an HP Photosmart Premium C310 series printer (Model Number CN503B) which I have been using with ePrint for about 18 months. Aside from intermittent issues it has worked, I use a chromebook most of the time so rely on the ePrint option via Google Cloud Print.
Last week it stopped working, with every job in the list showing as cancelled. Following advice on the forum I removed the email address of the printer from the eprint center. I thought it would then be simple to add the printer back. However, I have been unable to connect the printer to the web service so I cannot create the code I need to add the printer back.
    STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
    1. Factory reset printer settings
    2. Factory reset network settings
    3. Restart printer and Reboot router
    3. Settings -> Network -> Wireless Setup Wizard
    4. Choose correct SSID, enter password for WPA
    5. ‘Connected to Network’
    6. Settings -> Web -> Enable Web Services
    7. ‘Accept terms’ screen -> Accept
    8. ‘Checking for product updates’ screen shows briefly then returns to 'accept terms' screen
    9. Next it makes a ping sound and shows ‘Web Services Problem’ ‘Problem connecting to Web Services Server’, it then pings again a few seconds later (which ties in with what I see in the network logs as a second attempt)
    10. Log on to printer via web interface and set IP address of printer to manual IP outside DHCP range (as advice on other threads in this forum). Check DNS setting valid (same as gateway server which all other devices on network are also using successfully as DNS)
    11. Repeat steps 6 and 7 - still same error message
I consider myself technically savvy and have followed all advice I can find on this forum including the following:
    1. reverting to printer and network defaults
    2. rebooting router
    3. assigning static IP address to printer outside of DHCP range of router
    4. connecting to printer via web interface and setting DNS to variously: same as gateway, google DNS (8.8.8.8), ISP DNS
    5. adjusting firewall settings on router to explicitly allow and log outbound connection on the HP ports (already had a rule allowing all outbound connections)
As mentioned, the printer worked fine with ePrint previously so I suspect the ePrint server is rejecting a request from my printer for some reason, maybe because there is old / corrupt  data on the server regarding my specific printer.
I’m logging outbound traffic from the printer and here are what the router logs show me (printer IP replaced with 192.168.x.x below, even though it is not public )

Looks like both are HP sites: first is 'g4t2674.houston.hp.com' and the second secure one is ‘registration-pro-site2eprint.houston.hp.com’ which sound likely to be correct. That suggests the DNS is working but that the registration server doesn’t like the request for some reason.
I had the printer registered for Google Cloud Print but I have now deleted that also and it doesn’t seem to have made any difference (assume it just formats and forwards to the HP ePrint email anyway).
One hack that sheds some further light is to switch off wifi on the printer and then switch on ePrint. Eprint gives an error but stays set as 'on'. When I then switch wifi back on I can then at least check for product updates (it tells me I have the latest product updates). However, web services are still a 'no go'. Network traffic for that product update exchange looks like this:

So clearly the printer can communicate to those servers well enough to find it has the latest firmware.
I realise this is a lot of information but hopefully some of it is helpful for troubleshooting.
Thank you in advance for any help!

The issue disappeared this weekend. I didn't change anything so it must have been something server side. I notice others with the same issue have also seen it resolved.
Thanks to all those who contributed and tried to help out. Although disappointed I went for a long time without ePrint I'm glad that action was apparently taken to resolve in the end.

  • RV320 SSL VPN web service unable to connect port 56000 56001...

I have recently installed a RV320 dual WAN small business router in order to use the SSL VPN functionality to allow secure access to our intranet pages which are hosted on a server inside our network. I have the latest firmware installed on the router.
With the firewall feature of the RV320 disabled - After logging in to the router remotely via the HTTPS interface, I am able to use the web-based services such as SSH and NetworkPls. However, when using the HTTP and HTTPS services I receive a web browser unable to connect error on port 56000, 1, 2, 3 ... This is regardless of whether I enter a URL or IP address on the network behind the router or on the internet.
Enabling the firewall feature of the RV320 gives a different result - when any IP or URL is entered into the box in the second image below, the router log-in page is loaded instead of the required site. I have pasted an extract from the log at the bottom of this post although it doesn't seem to contain any relevant information. As a separate issue, you will also notice that users connecting to the router brings up [HACK] SynFlooding Attack in error.
Can anyone explain why this is happening? Alternatively, does anyone have a guide for setting up a IPSec VPN with this router? There seems to be very little literature available for this model.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I know that typically you should not have to do this, especially since I already had defined DEFAULT_SERIVCE_LISTENER = (XE) at the bottom of the listener.ora file.  Explicitly defining the XE service in the listener.ora file allows the listener to find it while the system is running under the Cisco AnyConnect VPN.  The only hiccup I found by doing this is that the XE service is discovered twice by the listener when the system is NOT running under the Cisco AnyConnect VPN.  It still works OK.  The listener just seems to ignore the repeated definition of the XE service (see output below):
    C:\ProgramData\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\bin>lsnrctl service

  • Phototsmart 5510 ePrint server connection error

    Hi,
I have a Photosmart 5510 with Windows 7.  I am trying to turn on the ePrint service, but it has to run an update before it will enable.  However, every time I try to enable it it gives me a "Server Connection Error" after trying to connect to the server for a minute or two.  The printer is connected to a network with internet and I have no problems accessing every other feature.  I have also tried to download the firmware update from the HP support but when I run it I am told there are no supported devices connected to the computer, regardless of usb or wireless connection to the printer and full drivers being installed.  Is there a way I can do a factory reset on the printer or manually install firmware?
    UPDATE:
I followed instructions to set Static IP and DNS addresses and the printer connected to the server.
    Issue resolved

    Hi @iliaunt,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you are getting a connection error message when trying to enable the web services of your Photosmart 5510 printer.
Please set a manual IP address and manual DNS server for the printer. I have included a link to another post that has the steps, including screen shots, of how to do this. Don’t worry that the screen shots show a Photosmart 7510 printer, the steps are the same.
Please let me know how it goes.

  • After 10.6.2 update Entourage Web Services Edition cannot connect

After I updated 10.6.2 patch, Entourage 2008 Web Services Edition cannot connect to the Exchange server anymore.
I removed the office 2008 and re-installed with all the available patches. Standard version of Entourage is able to connect and synchronize however Web Services Edition is not able to connect. Web Services Edition is using Exchange Web Services as primary connection protocol to the Exchange Server.
Nothing has changed on the server side and Apple Mail can connect to the exchange server. It seems to be related with 10.6.2 update. Any idea what might cause the problem and how to fix it?

I managed to get the connection log from a working system and compared it to mine. During the Autodiscovery part the only difference I found was related with timezone. Below is the exact text from the log files:
    *Successful connection:* <t:TimeZoneContext><t:TimeZoneDefinition Id="Georgian Standard Time"/></t:TimeZoneContext></
    *failed connection:* <t:TimeZoneContext><t:TimeZoneDefinition Id="(null)"/></t:TimeZoneContext></
After figuring out this detail I checked the computer timezone again.
Both computer and Entourage was set to GMT+4 but the cities were different. Computer was set to “GMT+4 Dubai” and Entourage was “GMT+4 Abu Dhabi, Muscat”
Even though time zones were the same, Dubai is not defined as a timezone city in Entourage. I changed the computer timezone to “GMT+4 Muscat” and the connection established.
This is the most stupid error I ever seen...

  • HP Photosmart 6520 Server Connection Error: -1: Apps don't work and Scan to email doesn't work

My HP PhotoSmart 6520 has a persistent error to connect to the server and therefore Apps and Scan to email doesn't work.
I have manually set DNS to 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4, I have installed latest driver on my Macbook pro, I have updated firmware, but still not working. Weird is also that in my ePrintCenter, the Apps I see there are not in line with thos visible on the printer.
Detail is that I have set up the printer on a Windows PC but recently changed to Mac.
Printing, scan to Computer all works fine.
Help! I have read a lot on forums but so far no solution for me!

    Hi Jack6520,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I see that you are unable to connect to the apps and use the scan to email feature of your Photosmart 6520 printer due to a server connection error.
First off, thank you for the very detailed information, I really appreciate it.
To better assist you, would you please provide some additional information:
When you set the manual DNS servers, did you also set a manual IP address for the printer?
Have you changed routers or internet service providers recently?  Have you updated the firmware on the router? If you have an ISP-provided router, do you know if they pushed out a firmware update?
Have you recently installed any new anti-virus/malware software?  If so it may have blocked the ports the printer uses to communicate.  I’ve included a post by VisionAiry titled “Check the Anti-Virus for Blocked Ports and Timed Scans”.
Do you have a guest network setup? Please Print a Network Configuration page. It will let you know how many networks the printer sees. A guest network will have the same name as your network with a tag about it being the guest network.
Previously did you customize the printer’s ePrint email address? I’m asking this because I might ask you to disable then enable the web services.  If we have to take this step you will lose the customized ePrint email address without any ability to get it back.
What version of Mac OS X are you using? whatsmyos.com
Are there any cables other than the power cable connected to the printer?
    Thank you.

  • Server Connection Error 403 - HP Photosmart 6520

My scanner all of a sudden stopped working and I got "Server Connection Error 403"
    How do I fix this?

    Hello @SeanTK ,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are getting a Server Connection Error 403.
    I would like to help.
You would only receive the 403 error if you are using scan to email.
There are a few things you can try to resolve this issue.
    Hard reset the printer.
While the printer is turned on, unplug the power cord.
    Wait at least 30 seconds.
Plug the power back into the printer.
    Test the scan to email.
If you still get the error, try setting a manual DNS.
The following post by happytohelp01 has instructions for setting the manual DNS.
It is for a Photosmart 7510, but the steps should be very similar.
Re: Efax 7510 still won't work after turning off/on ePrint
If the Error is still present after setting the manual DNS, you should cycle your network.
Turn off your network devices, including the printer.
Unplug the power to your router for about a minute.
Plug the power back into the router.
Turn on your printer, and the other network devices.
When the blue wireless light on the printer stops blinking, try the scan to email.
Another option is to remove then re-enable the printers Web Services.
This will act like an uninstall and reinstall.
Caution: removing the printers Web Services will cause it to permanently loose its ePrint address.
If the ePrint address has been customised then that address will be lost forever.
Once you enable the Web Services again you will have to setup the scan to email.
This will provide you with a new pin.
If you need further deatail on any of the steps, please let me know.
