Why have the security questions have become mandatory?

It used to be  possible to ignore to setting up of the security questions. Now it has become mandatory. I believe security questions are outdated and a step back in security. Searching the internet or using social enginering the answers to these standard questions may be found and your apple id hijacked.
Since your apple id is also used in financial transactions, e.g. purchases, this is a bad idea.
Please stop making security questions mandatory!

I can remember the fake answers I gave. It's not that difficult. But your memory skills may differ. If you don't think you can remember something totally fake, you can just put in an extra strange character somewhere in an otherwise real name in an easy-to-remember pattern, such as always putting in an exclamation point after the third character of whatever answer you provide. That would make it almost impossible for someone to get the data, unless you blab about the scheme to someone, but still be easy for you to remember. There are also highly security password/note utilities where you can keep your answers available but still protected.
About social enginering, if someone asks me for a password they won't get it. If they are in a conversation ask me about my first pet or first crush I might answere them
Then don't use the real information.
In any case, right now those security questions are mandatory. You have the feedback link through which you can offer alternate suggestions to Apple.
Regards.
