ZCM 11.2.3a to 11.2.4 Update stuck on "Update Assigned"

We are updating from ZCM 11.2.3a to 11.2.4 and then hopefully to 11.2.4MU1 to fix some issues with imaging new machines. I downloaded both updates and imported them using the zman sui commands and then waited for replication to finish to all servers and satellites. Initially scheduled the first update to kick off for our primary server after business hours and the time passed and nothing happened. I refreshed the server and still nothing. Tried the deploy now option and got the same. Checked the zmd-messages.log as well as services-messages.log and there are no errors or mentions of a system update at all.
The update has been sitting at "update assigned" all weekend through multiple refreshes and has yet to start. Any help would be appreciated.

Does your reference to "SP3" mean SLES11 SP3 or ZCM11 SP3?
If SLES11 SP3 then yes, you should avoid upgrading to SLES11 SP3 when
upgrading SLES11 SP1 to SLES11 SP2 as you should fully patch SLES11 SP2
before upgrading to SLES11 SP3 (it's not supported to go directly from
SLES11 SP1 to SLES11 SP3).
With remote access to your server you have two options to upgrade from
SLES11 SP1 to SLES11 SP2 - YaST wagon and zypper. See

  • ZCM 11.4 Updates

I'm a newbie to the world ZCM. We currently operation version 11.2.4. Could explain how updates work with ZCM or how can I display all the updates that are currently install at my primary servers.
I'm a little confuse if there are any update that have been publish after my installed of 11.2.4. I just been have a few users not been able to login to ZCM.
    thank youl

If yous are kind a take a look at my post below, I'm trying to solve this login issue. There are people having similar problems but there fix has corrected my login problem.
    https://forums.novell.com/showthread...Zenwork-11-2-4
Also keep in mind that "Login Issues" are very complex and an SR may help.
The problem is that there are so many place things could go wrong.
Could be an LDAP Issue, ZCM Primary Issue, Certificate Issue, Client Issue, etc.. etc...
It is very unlikely applying any patch would resolve an logon issue.
Re-Applying the last patch could resolve an issue if the patch only 1/2 installed originally and left the server in an invalid state.

  • Upgrade ZCM 11.2.3 to 11.3 - appliance question

    Hello,
we are using the ZCM 11.2 appliance with ZCM 11.2.3
we are planing to update to ZCM 11.3 and i'm not sure if it is necessary to upgrade the appliance to 11.3 (like described in the documentation, install appliance 11.3 and then migrate data from 11.2 appliance to 11.3 appliance). Or can i upgrade ZCM from 11.2.3 to 11.3 on the ZCM 11.2 appliance?
Is it possible and if yes, what is the best way - the upgrade to 11.3 appliance or use the 11.2 appliance with zcm 11.3?
    Greeting and thanks!

if we upgrade to the new 11.3 appliance we have to do this changes again, right? So it would be great if we can use the 11.2 appliance because i'm not a linux pro. The zcm documenatation is really good and the fstab file for the permanent mount for the image repo can be edit very easily but i dont know how to increase the hdd on the appliance.
Yes you need to do it again, here is the docs: https://www.novell.com/documentation...a/bnfdrww.html

  • Problem with User Assigned Bundles on Win7 x64, ZCM 10.3.4

    Greetings,
We are experiencing an issue with user assigned bundles in our environment. Specifically we are seeing the following problem on some, but not all, workstations running Windows 7 Pro x64 with ZCM 10.3.4. Some users do not get new, user assigned bundles until they log out of ZENworks Adaptive Agent, via the system tray "Z" icon, and then log back in to the agent. A simple refresh does not grab the new user assigned bundles. One has to perform this logout/login routine to get all user assigned bundles. The problem seems to be machine specific. The server shows that the missing bundles are, in fact, properly associated with the user. If the affected user logs onto a different machine, their user assigned bundles populate as expected. Any ideas?
In addition to rebooting our ZCM servers, we performed the following on the affected workstations:
    zac unr
    zac unr -f
    zac cc
    zac reg -g
    Uninstalled/reinstalled ZENworks Adaptive Agent 10.3.4
Deleted affected user's local machine profile
    Repaired CASA installation

  • Update 10.3.4.0 - 0% installed

I am trying to install ZCM 10.3.4.0 to our Primary (only) ZCM server. I downloaded and ran the update. The server has been rebooted and it shows the correct update modules on the main configuration screen but if I look at the System Updates tab, it lists the update as Ready and Deploy System updates area lists the server as pending.
I have checked the system-update log and it says all updates were installed successfully.
Any ideas how to get the update status out of pending? I have done a device refresh for the ZCM server.
    Steve D.

    Disregard this post.
I used the linux commands to restart all ZCM services and the status changed to rebuilding packages and now it is all set.

  • Future of ZLM

    Hi,
What is the future of ZLM?
Is the only option to upgrade to ZCM 11, or will the ZLM product exist for some time to come?
    Thanks,
    Hein

Hmm, I would say most of the ZLM things are there. I try to find
something I miss in ZCM .... and maybe the DELL Update packages are one
of those things. But we do not have any Dell hardware so that isn't a
problem for us. And the rest ... nothing important I would remember.
Okay one problem could be that only systems starting with SLES 10 SP2 are
supported. We have a couple of them but it is already time to upgrade
them so that is also no problem.
I participated in the closed beta and reported a lot of issues. Nearly
all were fixed and it looks now ready for me to use it in production.
Therefor I have installed the first full test system to let our operation
team work with it and learn the new features and the new handling. After
one or two months we will start to migrate the first systems over and see
    how it works.

  • Error message When Importing device from ZCM

    Hi
I create a ZCM importing setting in the AMIE, when I save the configuration setting...it show successfully, but I clieck import button,it show "A default Service Request team must be set in the preferences prior to running an import"....
I do not know how to set default request team,Who could teach me ?
    thanks!!
    wyldkao

First, create groups for each process. Then go to [Setup] -> Setup -> Privileges -> Requests and select the defined teams (must be above the Proof Options).

  • ZCM 10 SP3 Beta failed to install properly

We have a test ZCM installation and working towards production. We really need the features added in SP3 beta so I went to install on our test 10.2.1 primary server. Followed the instructions and added the zip file to ZCC and then deployed the update to our only primary server/embedded sybase ZCM box. There is little to nothing built in the database at this time. The primary server is running OES2 SP1 and completely failed to update as I can no longer log in.
After the update I rebooted the server and I launch the ZCC. When I try to log in as administrator I get this error: Login Error: org.hibernate.HibernateException: JDBC Driver class not found: ianywhere.ml.jdbcodbc.IDriver
It looks like some component is updated and looking for a dependency that maybe didn't make it (related to Sybase, the ianywhere piece).
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • ZCM and Windows 8

    Hi all,
I have ZCm 11.2.3a running nicely with my Windows 7 workstations.
Management is now on the move and wants to deploy Windows 8.1 on our devices.
So far, I have stalled this move as ZCM does not support 8.1, but they want to know when we can expect support for Windows 8.1.
Searching these forums, the guess would be somewhat March 2014, with the release of 11.3.
Can anyone confirm this or give a hint when it is expected?

Any news ? Where could we find answer or to look for ? Herre too we are under pressure to "when ?"

  • ZCM 11 SP3 and Windows 8.1, need clarification...

I dont know if I can't read, but I need som clarification...
When SP3 arrived, there were problems with Win 8.1.
I have customers that have machines, that were upgraded to 8.1 and it have worked with the already installed 11.2.3a -agent, even if its not supported. They deployed ZCM 11.3-agent to this machines that were upgraded to 8.1, and they all crached, never started again. I made tests in my test-environment, same result.
Last week I started to check and found the update "ZENworks 11.3.0a Windows 8.1 Update" (https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7014805 / http://download.novell.com/Download?...d=0yMdXrTonF8~). Downloaded that yesterday, and was to test it today. Looked for the instructions again today, and now its not availble anymore, Obsolete. I have not deplyed it yet, so that is no problem.
There are since yesterday a new update, "ZCM 11.3.0 WIN8.1 Patch 866736" (http://download.novell.com/Download?...d=OvBLs9qZhrU~).
But in the instructions on this, it talks about it talks about how to update machines already updated. Here the text mentions "11.3.0_WIN8.1". What is that? Is it the now Obsolete "ZENworks 11.3.0a Windows 8.1 Update"? Or machined patched with the standard "Update for ZENworks (11 SP3)", that was created during SP3 install? If reffering to the last, it cant be done because in both my customers production environment and my testenvironment the Win 8.1 machined crached and never came up.
Next two methods in the description describes how to update "Windows 8.1 Update for ZENworks (11 SP3)", if already imported (zman supf "Windows 8.1 Update for ZENworks (11 SP3)" ZCM_11.3.0_WIN8.1_20140404_866736.zip).
But for those who have not imported that, what is the way to go? You cant download "Windows 8.1 Update for ZENworks (11 SP3)" anymore, and the patch seems to be for that one?
What is the way to get Win 8.1 to works with ZCM 11.3?
    Can anyone clarify this?
I dont know if this belongs in agent forum or server-forum, but I start here.
    /Stefan

  • ZCM Version 10.3.3.44626 Does not Run on Windows 7 64 Bit

    Hello,
I am trying to get the ZCM client running on a Dell XPS 13 with Windows 7 64 bit installed.
The first problem I have is that the install errors with "The application was unable to start correctly 0xc000007b)" and it refers to ZPA_Iface.exe. But it does install.
The real problem is it doesn't update. If I right-click on the Zen icon in the system tray and click refresh, nothing happens.
Is there anything different that needs to be done with 64bit Windows?

No, but there are different agents for 32 and 64 bit.

  • Features in Patch 6.4 missing from ZCM Patch MGMT 11.2.1.0

We are migrating from Novell ZENworks Patch Mgmt v. 6.4.2.1592 to the ZCM v. 11.2.1.0 patching service. I've noticed that there are are few features in the Patch mgmt 6.4 that I don't see in ZCM 11.2.1.0 and want to see if I'm just missing them somehow. I've looked throught the zen11_pm_administration manual and could not find any info on the following:
    1) In Patch 6.4 when looking at the vulnerabilities/patches, you could filter by a specific OS in that it would only show patches (for example) for Windows 7 32bit workstations...and those patch results would only display "patched" or "not patched" numbers for that specific OS. In ZCM 11.2 patch mgmt...it appears that it can only filter by Platform: Windows, Vendor: Microsoft. With this filtering it mixes all the XP, Windows 7 32bit, Windows 7 64 bit, and Windows server patches all together. In the patch name field I can put "Windows 7" but it display 32 and 64 bit as well as patches for servers and includes servers in the numbers for "patched vs not patched". I would like to be able to filter the patches to show for example only patches for Windows 7 64bit workstations and have it reflect the workstations with only Windows 7 64 bit as it does in Patch 6.4. We have ZCM servers in our system but are using a different method to patch them. Basically, I currently have to wade throught the patches for Windows 7 (for example)..select the ones I want..and if that patch also is for Server 2008...I have to make sure that after the deployment creation is completed to remove the servers from the deployment. It would be much easier and efficient to be able to filter out the patches for a specific OS and apply those patches to only that specific OS workstations. Any ideas if this is possible under ZCM 11.2.1.0 patching?
    2) In Patch 6.4 you could configure a policy for snooze and reboot options. Then when completing the deployment wizard...you could select "Use policies" for these options. Is there a place to configure these presets in ZCM 11.2.1.0 or does one have to manually change them every time a deployment is created?
3)Once a deployment is set to a group of test workstations, in Patch 6.4 I could export the list of worksations in the test deployment to send to the helpdesk in case they received any calls. Is there an option to do this in ZCM? There doesnt seem to be one.
Any info or feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,

    Michaelstump,
is there a reason you posted in the ZCM *10* patch management forum? At
this time, I agree, some things are better with ZCM patch management,
    some things are not...

  • How to recover from a lost trust relationship (or zone configuration) between the linux ZCM agent to the Primary Zone server running on the same machine?

    I have tried:
zac retr, which fails as it says there is no zone to which this agent
    is connected
zac reg, which fails because of error 34 Invalid device authentication
    information
zac rereg GUID, which fails because of missing zone (as zac retr)
zac unr, which fails because of the same error.
zac ci shows the correct certificates
almost everything is working except registration refresh and location
    refresh.
What to do in this situation?

This was yesterday resolved by NTS - you see the "quick" resolution
time of NTS if you subtract the date of the initial post from the date
of this post - with an absolutely simple trick, which obviously nobody
did know of. The support engineer got it from the developer team.
There is a switch in the
    /opt/novell/zenworks/share/tomcat/webapps/zenworks-registration/WEB-INF/
config.xml configuration file, with which you can switch authentication
    off for device registration.
You just need to add <Authenticate>false<\Authenticate> into the only
    configuration this file contains.
This suppresses the error 34 on device registration and the device gets
registered correctly upon restart of the zenworks suite. After this is
done one can change back the above mentioned file to the original state
and restart the zenworks suite again.
The solution was really easy to deploy - the time till this resolution
was found was IMO too long.

  • Trying to rebuild ZCM 10.3.1 server after crash

    Hi all,
I'm currently trying to help a customer rebuild a ZCM 10.3.1 server (single primary server) used for Asset Management only, after a complete crash.
The situation is, that we have now re-installed both the OS and ZCM 10.3.1 server with same names, IP etc. We have also restored the SQL database and are able to login to ZCC and see all data.
But - the server is permanently running at 100% CPU Utilization, with the ZEN-loader and ZEN-Server as the primary culprit.
Looking in the loader-messages logfile, we found that it is being flooded with thousands and thousands og line with the same message:
    [MESSAGELOGGER.Debug] [9/23/11 1:08:52 PM] [] [Loader.InventoryStorerAMModule] [] [InventoryStorerModule: Exception: com.novell.zenworks.datamodel.exceptions.ObjectNot FoundException: 13e17b91e0b14c7074846efd50f2d034] [] []
And we have now realized that this is due to the fact, that our new install of ZCM 10.3.1 and Agent, naturally does not have the same GUID as the original server..
So - the question is then: how do we change the GUID on the new installed ZCM server, so that it will hook up to the original server/device in the database, and just move on as nothing has happened? I believe I have seen a ZMAN command at some point, doing this exact thing?
    Additional information about the installation:
    Server running on VMWare platform
    Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express (on same server)
ZCM server 10.3.1 used for Asset Management only (250 devices)
