7000 copies of document on desktop!!!

I frequently work on documents like Word on two different computers, a Powerbook and an iMac. I network the computers wirelessly and after I make some modifications to the document I sent the changed/updated document back to the iMac. Usually no problem but in the last two weeks I noticed several instances of the document appearing on my iMac but from 1700-7000 copies with a file size of 0.
Using the find function I can delete the copies easily but I would like to prevent this situation in the future.
Thanks for your kind help.

this should allow anyone to put this document in the trash.
Well no, if you're talking about a document on the Desktop. The Desktop is a folder, and like other folders has an owner. To move something off the Desktop, you must have write permission to the Desktop folder.
Also, when you go to "open with" in get info it has a website listed???
You mean where you would normally expect to see a list of applications? Never seen this before.

  • Unable to print multiple copies of documents on Win7 machine with Office 2010

Since upgrading to Windows 7, I have been unable to print multiple copies of documents in any MS Office 2007, 2010, Word Pad or Adobe Reader 9.  I also experience the same problem if I print from Word Pad.  The issue appears to be associated with the Collate Option in the Print Dialog box.  If the Collate box is checked, I only get one copy of the document.  If I uncheck the Collate box I get as many copies as I choose.   The problem is that with the Collate box unchecked, I have to collate multiple copies by hand, and with 10 – 20 copies of multi-page documents that can be quite a chore.
The ironic thing is that MS Visio 2003, on the same machine, prints and collates as many copies as I choose, with the Collate box checked.
I can print multiple copies of Word 2003 documents from my wife’s Win XP machine to the same printer, but not from my Win 7 machine with Office 2010.
My printer is an HP LaserJet 1320nw and I have downloaded and installed the latest printer drivers from the HP Web site.
Has anyone experienced this problem, and if so, are you aware of a solution other than unchecking the Collate box?

I have the same issues with my LJ1320. I have Office 2010 and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.   However, my printing problem is more widespread since I have been unsuccessful at printing multiple copies of all types of documents, not just from  Office 2010.  For example, I have the same problem trying to print multiple copies from  Internet Explorer.
I also have other problems printing  from Office 2010 that you may not have discovered yet.  I cannot print Excel spreadsheet grid lines from Office 2010 if those documents were originally created in an earlier version of Office.  I tried saving them as Office 2010 documents and also using compatibility mode but nothing worked.  These same documents print fine on the same printer from my laptop which uses Windows Vista and Office 2007.  Also Excel spreadsheets originated in Office 2010 print nicely.
Looks like HP has a few bugs in their printer drivers.
I note that HP released a new Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL5x64 on Feb 18, 2011 (Version 5.2.6).  Have you tried it yet?

  • COPA Error - Document "1000000062" is not profit-related and thus could not

    Dear Experts,
I have an following issue , please send your inputs for the below issue.
Client is using Make to Sale order scenario ( MTO).
At the time of billing, COPA documents are not getting generated. I also checked if the COPA documents can be generated after VA88 (Make to Sale order settlement. But still the COPA Document for Revenue and Discounts is not getting generated.
Below is the error when KE5ST is executed. I have also checked the note 20254,  but couldnt fix the issue .
Error Message - Document "1000000062" is not profit-related and thus could not be transferred
    Message no. KF755
    Diagnosis
Sales document "1000000062" was not transferred to Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) because it is not relevant for the analyses in CO-PA. This can be due to one of the following reasons (among others):
The document type is not profit-related, such as an inquiry
The sales document shows zero for the quantity
The sales document has been denied
The sales document is locked due to credit reasons
    Advance thanks
    Sanjai

    Hi Sanjai,
I'm facing an issue related to Credit Notes without quantity volume. It is right to have Credit Notes without quantity, but we need to capture these amounts in COPA.
When the CN/DN is posted no COPA document is generated and trying to simulate this through KE4ST I've received the message you've outlined above "
Sales document "XXXXXXXX" was not transferred to Profitability Analysis (CO-PA) because it is not relevant for the analyses in CO-PA. This can be due to one of the following reasons (among others):
The document type is not profit-related, such as an inquiry
The sales document shows zero for the quantity
The sales document has been denied
The sales document is locked due to credit reasons
Do you know how we could capture in COPA these documents which have zero for the quantity?
    Thanks,
    Jorge

  • Finder restarts after trying to open the documents or desktop tab

    Hello!
I've got a MBA 13, 128Gb mid 11 with Lion on it. That's my first Mac so I'm new to it. The problem is in Finder. There are a few tabs in a left side it (My files, AirDrop and others). But I can't open Documents or Desktop tabs. If I try to do it, Finder restarts. Anyone's got any idea about it?
    Thank you!

    Go to ~/Library/Prefereces
Move these files to the Trash.
    com.apple.finder.plist
    com.apple.sidebarlists.plist
    Then restart your Mac.
~ (Tilde) character represents the Home folder.
For Lion:   To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library

  • COPA billing documents - reverse and repost in different period

At the end of the period accounting is required to reverse certain sales posted for the period and repost to the following period due to shipping terms and revenue recognition requirements. They currently do this in FI using a high level entry in FB50. How can we also reverse and repost the COPA billing documents to a different period?
    Thanks

    Hi,
You should not be required to assign a profit center in OKB9 except for a few situations where the system does (can) not put profit center in the line item or you do not put profit center while posting.
Therefore, if the the profit center is alreadt in line item then the OKB9 profit center will not be defaulted.
Use of OKB9 for default profit center should be done sparingly.

  • Attaching documents from desktop to FIORI

    Hi everyone,
Is it possible to add documents from desktop/tablet to FIORI apps? If yes, it leads to further questions:
    a. how can this be implemented/activated?
    b. is there any inherent virus control?
    c. what are the document types allowed?
    d. size limits?
    e. DMS/archiving.
We have  biz case in invoice approval. Looking forward to your f/b.
    cheers

    Hi Vlkram,
If you do not want to change the business process, I recommend Fiori Approve Requests app. Attachments are stored in workflow container.
Approvers can approve/reject/forward/comment but there is no creating attachment in the standard.
If creating attachment from approver side is mandatory, you can extend the standard app by using UI extension points. Please look at SAP Fiori - Extensibility.
Is there any business requirement for approving documents in their mobile devices? In that case, is excel attachment the best option?

  • Any way to turn OFF that stupid saving of multiple copies of documents?!

I would love to know who thought it was a good idea to add this WITHOUT a way to turn it off!! So when you're in a text document (or any other kind of file that you can make changes in) you can go into the Time Machine icon on the status bar, select "Enter Time Machine" and there will be multiple versions of your document from various states auto saved so that you can go back to a previous version of your document for whatever reason. This can be a great thing, EXCEPT when you have no choice in that matter!
I DO NOT NEED a hundred copies of every single document I have on my computer because I happened to do a lot of tweeking to minor lines of text or make numerous very minor changes. And before anyone asks (because I am SO sick of answering this question twenty times a day) I DO NOT have a time machine hard drive OR Time Capsule connected to my computer in any way at all, (under normal usage. I do have a Time Machine hard drive I manually connect every few days to back up my computer, I just don't ALWAYS have it connected because it's a laptop) these multiple copies are being saved into my computer and taking up valuable hard drive space and there's no way to shut off this feature. I just called into Apple and the only thing they said was "Well it doesn't take up very much hard drive space" completely failing to see the point that I don't want it to take up ANY space because, again, I DON'T NEED A HUNDRED COPIES OF EVERY DOCUMENT IN MY COMPUTER!!!
Does anyone have any idea how to shut off this "feature" because it is utterly stupid. in System Settings -> General I checked "Ask to keep changes when closing documents" and I selected "None" in the "Show Recent Items for Documents, Apps and Servers" but it still saves multiple copies of my documents. Can anyone  help me figure out how to shut this off and delete the multiple copies? Not all of us are hysterical computer users opening up random documents and slapping the keyboard with our open palms requiring the ability to go back to multiple pages of the same document, some of us actually KNOW how to open up something, make a change and save it. We don't need the computer to constantly save multiple copies of everything we do so there needs to be SOME way to shut this off. What about my final cut, Aperture, Motion and any other program that make files? Am I going to have a thousand copies of every single video I ever edit from this point on? (cause anyone who does video editing knows there will be MANY tweeks and changes to those) What about Pages, Numbers or Keynote? How much room on my hard drive is going to be wasted storing hundreds of copies of hundreds of documents every time I wanted to change a graph colour slightly, or add tax into a spreadsheet, or change a decimal point in a presentation? Adding this without a way to shut it off was the most ridiculous thing I've seen! Thanks to anyone that can help.

Actually, there are two mechanisms by which Mountain Lion does this, both of which are on by default (for laptops; only one of which is on by default for desktops).
You mention going into the Time Machine icon in the menubar? Good news - that one's easy to turn off.
To do so, you need to open Terminal.app (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and copy/paste this line into the Terminal window:
    sudo tmutil disablelocal
press 'return' on your keyboard and enter your Admin password. Note that the password does not echo to the screen, so type carefully.
The second mechanism is what Apple call 'Versions'. The bad news is you can't turn Versions off; the good news is it's only enabled on certain Apple apps like Preview, TextEdit, XCode, Pages, Numbers, Keynote etc. The only way to avoid Versions, therefore, is to use alternatives such as Skim (for Preview), Tincta (for TextEdit) and LibreOffice for Pages, Numbers, Keynote (alas, I don't know of an alternative for XCode).

  • IRM 11g - How to track copies of documents

    hi all,
i understand that IRM allows documents to be tracked. ie. it knows how many copies of the document there are and how many are currently open and being edited. I read this somewhere but not very sure where exactly.
    1) is this true? if true, how can i monitor from the irm server?
    2) i did download the userguide from the oracle website. wondering if there are other/better user guides out there so that i can go deeper into the administration of IRM.
    thanks,
    gear

    Hello Gear,
ad 1) it is not exactly true that you can track copies of sealed documents. What you can track is who tried to open (a copy of) a sealed document, provided that this user has installed and configured the correct IRM licensing server.
Let me explain the difference: if you seal a document (ie. you take a document, created its encrypted version and store its encryption key on a server) you create a doc id, which can be tracked. If someone attempts to open the document (or its copy), he or she needs to go the licensing server to get the decryption key. This can be tracked.
I'm simplifying a little bit - there is the offline mode, permissions are cached for the whole context, not for a single document, there are versions of documents, not just copies, but I believe you get the basic idea.
Of course, if you attempt to open a sealed doc on a PC with no IRM Desktop Client, or if the Desktop Client cannot reach the IRM Licensing server (either not configured, or not accessible), IRM Licensing server won't receive any info about it - the exception is tracking in the offline mode (ie. info will be sent once the Licensing server becomes accessible)
ad 2) I'd suggest just go for it - open the admin console and play with the configuration. 80% of settings are self-explanatory and they will help you to understand the remainder. And if not, there's always a chance to ask about a particular feature.

  • Can't save or delete documents to desktop

I created a read only word document and then disabled read only. But the disabling the read only doens't stick. It keeps reverting back to read only. I did this because I was having trouble saving the file (don't recall why). Now I can't delete the file. Mac asks for my password which I do and it makes the dropping a file in the trash noise but the file doesn't go away.
Now I can't save files to the desk top, only to my user folder, documents and drop box.
Now when I try to save a new Word file I get the following message: can't create this file and the suggested reasons are HD full, or write protected or damaged. I can't figure out which of this issues is the problem.
When i try to resave an existing Excel file as a different file I get the following message: file name path doesn't exist, being used, or read only can't access the file HD:User:my name: desktop.

Click on the desktop, choose Get Info from the File menu, uncheck the Locked box, and give yourself Read and Write access under Sharing & Permissions.

  • Unable to edit SharePoint document in desktop applications

A number of our users are reporting issues when trying to edit Excel or Word documents that are stored on SharePoint via their Desktop applications. The error is as follows
Error 1: "Sorry, we couldn't open [file location here]"
    Followed by:
Error 2: "Microsoft Excel cannot access the file [file location here] There are seveal possible reasons:"
We are running Windows 8 and I have tried resetting IE settings back to default and removing all Windows Credentials (well, only those relevant to Office). If I remove the credentials I get asked to sign back in, which I do.
Any ideas what else we can try?

PLease try with office 32 bit version. 64bit sometime create issue.

  • Editing icloud pages document on desktop, edits not showing up on icloud

I have a pages document on my icloud called "ABC123"
    I am on my mac
I go to FINDER > iCLOUD > PAGES FOLDER
in the pages folder I see the document "ABC123"
    I click ABC123
It opens in pages on my desktop (not in browser)
I make an edit and type: "***?"
    I click save.
When I open ABC123 in the browser-version of pages, my "***?" edit is not there.
Why are my edits not syncing with the icloud version even though I opened it through my icloud folder? Everything is updated (software and pages and icloud acct).... can we just not use the desktop version to edit icloud documents?
    In other words:
I ask because I'd like to collaborate with others, but I would like to use my desktop version. They can use the browser to edit. but.... my desktop edits aren't saving to the collaborative online version of ABC123

    Hello anonAnthony,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Yes, Pages and iCloud Drive can be used in the way you're describing. It sounds like you're seeing some unexpected behavior with this feature.
For troubleshooting, start with the tips in the "Documents on iCloud.com are not updated when changes are made on my iOS device or Mac" section of this article:
iCloud: Troubleshooting Documents in the Cloud - Apple Support
You may also want to close and re-open Pages and Safari, and test again.
If the steps above don't solve it, the article I mentioned recommends contacting iCloud Support for more help:

  • Changing a document's desktop icon to the cover of the document

Hey gang, the subject pretty much says it all.  What I mean is, I opened a PDF file, then saved a shortcut to my desktop.  When I did, the shortcut icon was the cover of the document.  Great!  Now it's easier for me to choose which document to read!  Now, on my new computer, it doesn't do that, so I've got a bunch of generic PDF icons all over the place.  How do I get back to the nice, easy, icon I had before?  There's got to be a setting I'm not seeing, or a trick to this.  I'm running Windows 7 if that helps.  Thanks!

  • COPA- Billing document transfer

    Hi All
When I am creating a sales document ,  A profitability document is getting created and Gross sales(PR00) and costs(VPRS) are getting transfered to COPA, But when I am creating Billing document, A COPA document is getting created without gross sales value, Value in PR00 is not getting transferred...It is passing only costs(VPRS) to COPA....Am I missing any configuration?
    Also
With document types A Sales order and F Billing data I am transferring revenue to COPA twice , Is this a best practice?

You need to configure the Condition types with values fields in TCode KE4I.
Check if you have reset the condition types for Billing types of Billing Document which would stop or zeroise the values that flow to COPA.
It is not duplication of transferring Sales order and Billing Document to COPA, they are meant for two different purposes, Sales order is forecasting your sales and Billing Documents is your actual sales.
