AuC is posting un planned depreciation

Hi
We are using asset class 160 for Asset under construction and we have activated Investment support measure for AuC (through Internal order)
while at the time of creating internal order system ask for the creation of Asset master
we have acquired some value in to this AuC in april 2006 since then we have not used this AuC and neither we have settled its balanced to any main asset
But during period end (12/2008) we trying to post unplanned depreciation, at the time system is giving an error message " 16000 account group is not configured for accumulated depreciation  unplanned depreciation"
16000 is account group for asset class 160 (AuC) and we have used the deprecaition key 0000 - no deprecaition.
Pls any bidy tell me why the system is asking for configuration of unplanned depreciation posting for AuC and that too after 1 year and 9 mths of posting to AuC.
In AuC depreciation is not allowed
Please guide me what to do (we are on SAP R/3 4.7)
Now when we are trying to run AFAB system is saying last posting run was terminated between, pls restart run for period 12/2008
And we try to run AFAB in restart run and see the session in sm37 , system shows status cancelled and spool says   " 16000 account group is not configured for accumulated depreciation  unplanned depreciation"
Pls guide how to resolve this issue
Regards
Ajay

Hi,
Your GL account is not maintained in Account determination, that's why I think u are getting this error.Check if the GL account is maintained under Ordinary depreciation for AuC.Please follow the following path and maintain the entries:
IMG> Financial Accounting> Asset Accounting> Depreciation> Ordinary Depreciation>Assign accounts> Select the Asset class and check if the accumulated depreciation is maintained or not.
Thanks,

  • Deleting Planned depreciation.

    Dear Experts,
Is it possible to close the FI-AA year without postin the planned depreciation?
    The issue is as under:
the acqusition value of asset is 30000, chargable @ 4.75% depreciation.
depreciation were posted upto 11th period, then we change the depreciation key (20%) as per the AS rule for that year. System shows a adjusted value in 12th period (which we dont need), to meet our requirement (depreciation for that year should be 30000*20%=6000) we passed a unplanned depreciation in 12th period, we get depreciation 6000.
But for the particular period 12th only system is showing one more planned depreciation, which we dont need at all. Unless we post that planned depreciation, system will not allow to close that year.
since we cant reverse the posted depreciation, is there any other alternative to close that particular year without posting that wrong planned. we have already posted depreciation for 12th period but again it is showing one more 12th period with planned depreciation.

  • Avoid depreciation posting for a depreciation area

    Hello experts,
    I have the following problem:
I created a new valuation area for fixed assets that is to be active since 31.12.2007. Values are going to be uploaded for the new area in this transfer date. Afterwards, depreciation  for years 2008, 2009 and 2010 is to be run in order to post the depreciation of the new area during these years but I don´t want any depreciation to be posted in area 01 by any means, because for this area depreciation is already posted. I know that no depreciation shoud be posted because planned depreciation is already equal to real depreciation in area 01 but just in any case I would like to avoid depreciation to be posted in this area.
So, I thought about shutting down the asset for area 01 but when testing it. I don´t see the efect, I mean the asset keeps depreciating. I put the shutdown flag in the asset master data and also created a new depreciation key, to assign a different key depending on depreciation area. For the area I need sutdown, shutdown indicator is set to "yes" at the assignment of calculation method (transaction AFAMA) but for the depr. area I don´t need the sutdown indicator is set to "no" .
Is it a good idea to use asset shutdown in this case or is there any risk of area 01  trying to adjust the already posted depreciation?
Why shutting down the asset is failing since I configured both asset master master and depr. key?
Is there another solution (different to shutdown) to avoid posting depreciations in area 01?
    Thanks in advace, rmb

    Hi,
my last answer was wrong - I'm sorry.
    Shutdown is the correct solution.
For shutdown there are 2 settings relevant.
    1) in Asset master date you hav set the flat shotdown.
    2) In depr. Key you have not set "Shutdown. Yes"
          ad 2)
    AFAMA:
      Depr. Key
        -> Assignment of Calculation Methods
-> please see the last field below.
For sure I would not change the standard depr. key, i would make a copy.

  • Incorrect Planned Depreciation after posting unplanned depreciation

    Hello Everyone,
We have encountered a case whereas an asset acquired in April 2008 with 5 years useful life was planned to be fully depreciated in period 2 of 2009. Below are the details and postings done:
    1 - NBV -> 1,056,143.00
    2 - Posted Write-up -> 18,054.00
3 - Posted Unplanned depreciation -> 1,038,992.23- (the system actually issued that only the amount of 835,445 can be posted as unplanned dep. In order to bypass this, user changed the dep key to MANU then changing it back after the unplanned posting)
    4 - Posted Ordinary Dep for Period 1 of 2009 -> 19,892
    5 - Planned Ordinary Dep for Period 2 of 2009 -> 15,312.77-
Once the amount of 15,312.77 is posted, the asset will have Zero NBV.
*My question is: Why did the system posted the 15,312.77 in period 2 only and not spread the amount until 2013 since the asset's useful life is for 5 years (until 2013).
We have tried recalculation of values and the planned depreciation remains the same for period 2.
    Hope someone can help.
    Thank you in advance.
    Regards,
    Cholo

    Hello Vinod,
Period control is 004 which is configured in AFAMP having 01 - Pro rata at period start date for Acquisition, Acquisition in the following year, Retirement and trasfer. Does it have anything to do with the start of depreciation?
Also, when we adjust the ord dep start date to < April 26, the original planned depreciation is not affected for the current FY but only the next FY and moving forward.
    For example:
Asset worth 12,000 to be depreciated in 10 years
1 - Alrready in period 3 and 200 has been posted
    2 - Posted unplanned dep of 800
3 - Total planned dep for this year did not change (1,200)
    4 - System calculated for current year depreciation 1200 (planned) + 800 (unplanned) = 2000
    5 - And for the next years 12,000 - 2,000 = 10,000 / 9 years
    Should it not be that that 12,000 - 1,000 (200 planned + 800 unplanned) = 11,000 / 9 years and 9 months?
It seems that the unplanned depreciation affected the depreciation computation of the asset only in the next FY.

  • Prior year planned depreciation never posted. How to post in current year?

    Hi Experts,
Planned Depreciation was not posted in 2010. Is it possible to post that in 2011? What all steps are required?
When I execute AW01N for the asset in question, system gives error "Message # AA669 - Fiscal year 2010 is already closed in Financial Accounting.
I checked OAAR the last closed fiscal year is 2009.
I executed AFAB in 'Test Mode' for Period 12, 2010, system gives error message "Period 12 is already posted".
    Your inputs will be appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rachana

    Dear Rachana
The long text of error AA669 is very clear about the root cause of the
    error.
The idea behind the message: it is not allowed to close first general
ledger before subleger. This leads to inconsistencies. It is common
accounting principle to always close the subledgers first and only
then close the general ledger (FI-GL).
The solution is: re-open fiscal year in FI-GL (txn OB52) and follow the
    steps from note 619969.
    o  RAAFAR00
    o  RAPOST2000
    o  RAPERB2000
    o  RAJABS00
If it is not possible to open the fiscal year because audit has already
been completed: workaround (which is not quite correct from the legal
point of view) is the report RACORR20_A from note 29694.

  • Planned depreciation not showing for posting period

    hi,
I have query for planned depreciation.
my company code is having following setting.
    1. check "dep to the day" is there.
    2. in Fiscal year Variant for the period 7 & 8 the setting is as below.
    month day period
    8          1      7
    8          29    8
so the planned depreciation is not showing in period 8, in period 7 it is showing double (for period 7 & 8). this is the same for posted depreciation also.
please suggest if any setting available for the same.
    Thanks,

Why do you have your both periods 7 & 8 setting in the same month 8 ??
Every period and month should be exclusive and look something like this > http://www.saptechies.com/userfiles/Define-Business-Area-5.jpg
Please post your query properly if you don't get this explanation.

  • Posted depreciation is missing in period 7, planned depreciation for period 8 is doubled

    Hi Experts,
I would like to ask for some explanation for this issue and how to correct the error.
Performed Depreciation run via AFAB transaction.
then upon checking in asset explorer. period 7 is missing while the amount in planned depreciation for period 8 is doubled.
could you please explain how and why this thing happened?
    thanks in advance!

  • How to clear planned depreciation amount

We had a purchase order that was incorrectly coded to post to an asset account, instead of an AUC, so when invoice receipt was processed, the asset was posted with the value.
This asset was capitalized in Aug 2006 (although the first depreciation was not run until Nov 2006).  It had a useful life of one year.  So, when the invoice receipt was posted in August 2007, the net book value of the asset was zero and there were no future planned depreciation amounts (the first depreciation run posted 4 months worth of depreciation amount).
In Asset Explorer, the posting from the invoice receipt (MIRO) showed 'Ord Depr' as $73k, but when we reversed the invoice (using MR8M), this posting showed 'Ord Depr' as $121k.   The difference is $48k and the system is showing this as the Planned Net Book Value.   This is causing the asset to have 'planned depreciation amounts' for the next few months, even though the Posted NEt Book Value is zero.
Why does the invoice reversal showing a different Ord Depr amount from the original invoice (both have the same document date and posting date)?   And how do we clear out the $48k?
    thank you,
    Lanny

    Hi Paul,
Thanks for the answer.   Yes, I can see from the period in depreciation key why the system is calculating the $121k when we reversed the invoice.    I think the question now is how do we fix this so the asset will not have the 'planned' depreciation amount?   I changed the value in Expired Useful Life in the asset depreciation areas so that all 12 months of the asset life has expired.  I then use AFAR to recalculate depreciation, but nothing happens.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Planned Depreciation Changed - Recalculation of Depreciation

When we are displaying any asset through AS03 system shows message " value of Ordinary deprec. have changed in dep. area 01 in fiscal year 2009 for all the assets.
If we click on the message system shows following diagnosis
Values for Ordinary deprec. have changed in dep. area 01 in fiscal year 2009Message no. AU390
    Diagnosis
Depreciation terms were changed in depreciation area 01 since the last time depreciation was recalculated. The values for Ordinary deprec. that were saved in the database in fiscal year 2009 are therefore different from the newly calculated values by an amount of                                               22.33-.
    Procedure
Check if the newly calculated values are correct. If they are, then carry out a depreciation recalculation. You should be aware that if you recalculate depreciation, new values could arise for all open fiscal years, and these would then have to be posted to the general ledger by means of a depreciation posting run.
If, on the other hand, you want to keep the values that are saved in the database, you have to set the depreciation terms back to how they were at the time of the last depreciation recalculation.
To see a comparison of the old and new values, you can use the Display dep. calc. function in the asset value display or the Recalculate values function in the Asset Accounting menu.
                Proceed
And if we click on  Proceed  system take us to transaction recalculation of depreciation (t-code AFAR).
As per the diagnosis given in the message depreciation is recalculated whereas we have not run recalculation of depreciation (AFAR) but we have changed the useful life of Asset Class 2260 & 2265 from 12 to 10 years. and transferred few assets within company code by transaction code ABUMN.  Is this happening because of that ?.
We are surprised that till last depreciation run (period 5) business were not getting any such type of message and from period 5 onward system started showing this message.
I was just checking planned depreciation for F.Y. 2009 of few assets and found that depreciation is not calculating properly.
I have run AFAR in test mode and taken list of recalculated assets and also checked the recalculated depreciation manually and found that depreciation is calculated properly. Now we want to run AFAR in final mode but before moving ahead we want take concern from asset expert that we are going on right track or which another steps to be taken to resolve the same.
One more thing I have noticed that if we run AFAR from F.Y. 2008 in test mode when F.Y. 2008 is closed system shows message  "Error in Dep. Calculation"  for all the assets related to F.Y. 2008 and before and when we open F.Y. 2008 and run AFAR again in test mode then system shows message   "Error in Dep. Calculation" only few AUC assets.

    Hi Paul,
    Thanks for quick response.
I have ran AFAR in test mode in F.Y. 2009 when F.Y. 2008 is closed and checked that deprecation is calculating properly but the assets pertaining to F.Y. 2008 and there before are showing in error "Error in Dep. Calculation. I have ran AFAR in testing box by opening F.Y. 2008 and seen that system is not showing any error.
Now my question is, if i will open F.Y. 2008 in production system and run AFAR and repeat deprecation run for recent period what will be the impact in last F.Y. 2008.
    Thanks,
    Vishwa Dikondwar

  • Planned depreciation not showing in the AW01n for current FY

    Hi Experts,
I have an issue on Planned Depreciation and the issue as below.
I have created an Asset with Dep.start date is 10.05.2011 and my Fiscal year is Jan- Dec with 445 posting periods. I have posted Acquisition with the value of 10,000 through F-90. When i check the Asset Explorer through AW01n its not showing Planned deprecation in the Posted Values tab and in Comparisons tab its showing the Dep. from 2012 onwards till useful life and here in 2012 its showing the dep.value from May to Dec only, and also its not showing Dep.value for 2011 year ( showing blank).
If i post the acquistion in 2010, its showing the depreciation from 2011 onwards and also for 2010 year its not showing any planned deprecation.
In Dep. calculation it means  % of dep. and every thing is ok. ( its showing the values as per the % stated in dep.key)
I have posted the same scenario to another company code and its showing planned deprecation for 2011 year.
May i know the missed config settings to view planned depreciation.
    kindly provide your valuable solution
    thanks,

    Hi,
When i click the Dep. calculation its showing as below

  • Posting period of "Depreciation Posting Run" problem

    Hi all,
I was configured my company code with 12 period of nomal fiscal year (defauld fiscal year variant K4). I think Posting period field of Depreciation Posting Run screen (T-code: AFAB) must have 12 posible entries, are 1,2,3,...,11,12. But when I display posible entries of this filed, it only have to posible entries (000-000, 000-365). So that, I can't choose a period to excute real depreciation run.
How to define posible entries 1,2,3,..,11,12 of posting period field of Depreciation posting run screen?
    Chinhvh

    Hi,
If I have understood your question correctly
When u do F4 in field "Posting Period" in AFAB you get the following screen:
    From            To
    000               000
    000               365
You don't do F4 in that field. Since your Posting Period Variant is K4, just manual input the relevant posting period in the field. i.e if you want to post depreciation for April then just input Period 4 in the field.
Now what you have to be careful is which depreciation method you are going to select for doing the Posing Run. (i.e the Reason for Posting Run fields)
You have 4 methods which is described below:
    1. Planned Posting Run. (This should be done if all the depreciation upto the earlier posting period has been done properly under the planned posting run).
If you have done unplanned run for earlier periods and have never done a planned posting run for the earlier periods for the concerned asset, then you cannot do planned posting run for period 4 directly. You should first do planned posting for period 1, then for period 2, then for period 3, and then finally for period 4. The depreciation will be zero for Posting periods 1,2,3 if your start depn in your asset master is 1st April.
    2. Repeat Run: You can use this to do repeat run. You can do Planned depreciation run only once for a particular asset for a particular period. You can then do a repeat run for doing the depreciation run for the same asset.
3.I don't think you wll need to do Restart run.
    4. You can do unplanned depreciation run directly for period 4, if you have not done the depreciation run for the particular asset for the earlier period. but this is not recommended. This should be done only in specific circumstances when you have no chance of doing either planned depn run or repeat run.
    Pl assign points.

  • SAP Planned Depreciation Values

    Hi,
Can anybody suggest how can I bring the total planned depreciation values (month wise).
I would like to know the structure, table or function module.
We have tried with function module ANEP_AFARECHNEN but notfetching the results.
I know ANLC table shows the values but only for the years that are roll-forwarded by the system.
But, I want the planned depreciation values for complete life of the asset.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
For depreciation planned value by month, it should be calculated using the total value from table ANLC by double checking program AW01N perhaps storing in work area within the program.
As for depreciaiont posted monthly from acquisition up until now, table ANLP shall gives the details monthly.
    Hope the above helps.
    Kind regards,

I have executed planned posint run in AFAB until 10 the period.
I want to ran planned depreciation for 8th period. Whehther Its possible to undo the previous planned posting runs.

    Hi,
the depreciation run for period 8 is required for all assets or for selected assets.

  • Difference in planned depreciation value because of wrong positing of unpla

    Hi All,
    1.     Unplanned depreciation has been posted in last fiscal year.
    2.     Amount posted in IGAAP was higher than IFRS value.
    3.     Now planned value of depreciation in being calculated by system is not equal for both books (IFRS / IGAAP) because of difference in unplanned depreciation posted in last year.
    Example "
    IFRS -01 AREA- 765431.89
    IGGAP-02 AREA- 765431.78       = 0.11 difference in 01 and 02 areas.
T.codeABCO i posted unplanned depreciation in 01 area after posting 01 and 01 unplanned depreciation amount are same but Planned depreciation values show 0.11 difference.
Please suggest what steps needs t be followed to settle this difference of depreciation in both books.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Kishore,
please check if area 03 = - 01 + 02 and you have special settings in OADB for area 03.
In this case the system  makes roundigs to fulfill this settings.

  • Change of Depreciation key - Planned Depreciation

    Dear All,
We are having the scenario that, when we change the depreciation key for the asset, the system issues the warning message and still we need to change that.
However the asset has been posted to already. As a result of changing the depreciation key, the planned depreciation in open fiscal years will be recalculated.
How do we avoid to recalculate the planned depreciaiton for the asset when we change the depreciation key.
Because everytime we need to stop depreciation for a number of assets and thus change of depre.key is required.
I request you to all, please kindly provide your values.
    Regards,
    Ran.

    Hi Friend,
It is possible to change the depreciation key, but you can not avoid Planned Dep. Posting Run. As the system considers that it has to re-run.
According to me, you should create the new depreciation Area for such kind of assets and you should go for manual depreciation. Because it is not reasonable to change the depreciation key everytime.

    Jigar
