Charged twice, but no refund or explanation.

Hi there,
I was taking a look at my most recent billed dated 16 January, and have noticed that as well as the Line Rental price increase charges (which I find confusing but have accepted now), my Broadband package was also added onto the bill again.
My bill from October charged me for three months (Oct 17 to Jan 16) at £26 a month (£78). This has added onto my total amount. I get that.
What has confused me is the most recent bill which has a broadband charge from Dec 1 to Jan 16 at £27.65 a month - £42.40. I see the price change, but at no point does it work out a refund for what I've already paid and then recharge me - it just adds another £42.40 to my total!
Essentially they have done the following:
Oct 17 - Nov 16 - £26
Nov 17 - Dec 16 - £26
Dec 17 - Jan 16 - £26
Dec 1 - Jan 16 - £42.40 <---- Unexplained extra charge.
Jan 17 - Feb 16 - £27.65
Feb 17 - March 16 - £27.65
March 17 - April 16 - £27.65
Can anyone make sense of this?

Welcome to the forum. You've correctly deciphered BT's practice of applying price increases retrospectively on the first bill after an increase by notionally refunding the amount paid in advance and recharging at the higher rate. So the recharge of £42.40 is correct, but it should have been accompanied by a refund of £39.87 (£26 x 1 + 16/30ths). (They use 30ths as the daily rate irrespective of the number of days in the month in question.)
Best way to take it up is via Billing Live Chat, but be prepared for a struggle if you want it refunded before your next bill as they don't like giving cash refunds. If you don't get satisfaction please report back here for help.

    I've been charged twice for the same song on iTunes. This has happened before and I've ignored it as we're only talking a few dollars, but really, a company that makes as much money as Apple shouldn't be ripping people off like this. I searched through the Support Community threads and found a few answers that suggested the answer was easy - all I need to do is log into my account, view purchase history and then click report a problem and so on.
    Problem is that I don't have a purchase history. Dispite having bought a number of songs, and apps over the last few months (and days), there's not a single item in my purchase history, so I can't use that method for claiming a refund. What should I do?

    If you have made iTunes Store purchases, you have a purchase history. If your purchase history is appearing empty but you know you've made purchases, then you likely have multiple accounts and you are signed in to the wrong account. If you have access to any of your iTunes Store purchases, you can locate your account name by following these instructions:
    1) Open iTunes and locate one of these purchases.
    2) Control-click (Mac) or Right-click (Windows) the item in your iTunes Library.
    3) Choose Get Info from the menu that appears.
    4) Click the Summary tab and note the account name that appears in the list. That's the name of the account that purchased the item.
    Once you have the correct account name, you can review your purchase history following the steps in this article:

    That said, the duplicate "charges" you are seeing sound like they might just be authorization holds. When you update your billing information, the iTunes Store will place an authorization hold on your credit card to verify your account has sufficient credit to cover the amount of the sale. You might see this authorization request on your online statement. This is not an actual charge, it is simply a test to confirm that your credit card account is active and has credit available to accommodate transactions.

  • Charged Twice For A Refund?

    Hi!
    My buyer opened a returns case, for an item value of £44.99,  the funds where deuducted from my paypal account and put on hold. When the item was returned I had immidently refunded my buyer, another £44.99 was taken from my account & the prevoius £44.99 that was put on hold was still not released, I have waited over 48 hours.
    Have I been charged twice for this return transaction?
    This seems to be happening more and more with alot of my returned transactions. And yes the funds definatly have been deudcted twice from my account! I'm not sure whats going on and I'm getting really annoyed because it's not just this transaction that it has happened with. I am unable to call paypal up because I really struggle on the phone with people. I have emailed but still yet awaiting a reply.
    Has this happened to anybody else or anybody know whats going on?

    Apple's policy on sales of digital content is that all sales are final. If however you wish to appeal to Apple, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History.

    Hi, I've been trying twice now to upload an order in iPhoto, and after manyhours of trying I still get nothing but charged twice.I cancelled once (after 2 hours), and after trying again, my credit card got charged again, so how do I proceed from here? Who do I contact to get my money back and how do I get to upload the order?

    For the charges - probably Apple will automatically remove them - but to be sure contact Apple support
    as to your upload problem - you need to provide details and error messages

  • Charged twice, need £26 refund

    Hi,
    One month ago I called BT help line and talked to some one that barely spoke english, I made it very clear that in the first bill that I paid (90.51 pounds.... ) I had been charged twice with regards to my broadband. I need a refund for 26 pounds to my account.
    He admitted it had been charged twice by accident and claimed that this would be discounted in the next bill. I asked if he was sure it was fixed and he said it was indeed. Needless to say, I am writing this because he clearly disregarded his duty and I have not had that charge refunded.
    Can somebody with at least a double digit IQ and that speaks english to the extent that we can communicate help me with this?

  • HT1904 Everytime I make an order I am charged twice and cannot rectify this charge please help as  refuse to play anymore. Because of these charges  please help.

    I have played Funbridge  for a year at least and on all my orders I am charged twice but not given twice the time.  Please look back at my account as I jhave tried every way of contacting  to rectify this without success so refuse to pay any more until I get refunded.

    First off this is a USER forums. So asking for a resolution here will not help you.
    What are all of the ways that you have taken to try to get a resolution?
    Have you tried going to expresslane.apple.com selecting itunes then itunes store and then the option that best matches your issue and input the information which is requested to contact itunes?
    If you have done so and it has been longer than 48hrs and you still have not got a reply back,
    MayBe you should then try calling Apple Support and ask if can speak to the fraud department and then I am mostly sured you would get information on that.

    I play Bejeweled Blitz on my iPad and i recently bought a  Package of 17 Extra Spins during the purchase an error message poped up on the screen to say a connection error had occured and i would not be charged, i tried again and succsesfully bought 17 Extra Spins. When i received the receipt from iTunes it showed i was charged twice but only got 1 set of 17 extra spins! Any suggestions how to claim the money back?

  • Credit Card billed and charged twice for a Single ...

    Dear All,
    I bought skype credit (Calling India 120min/month, 3 months subscrption) over the internet on my credit card and have been charged twice but only recieved a single credit to my account.
    This happened first in Mar'14, and i just ignored.
    When this happed again in Jun'14, I contacted my Bank and they said to contact skype but as there is not a phone number I am here. I use Skype to keep in touch with family overseas and to not have credit is tough. Now this Sep'14 again i have been charged twice for the same subscription.
    I want all these amounts to be refunded, immediately.
    I have tried everything possible except to email Bill Gates. 
    Now this community is the only resort please Help...

  • Best Buy Gift Card was charged twice.

    I recently placed an order on Best Buy.com and it said there was an error. After I tried again, it went through, but I noticed that I had only $3.28 left on my gift card. My gift card balance before the transaction was around 77 dollars. I thought that was peculiar. The trade-in I made a couple weeks ago on 12/26/14 gave me 77 dollars for trading in Assassin's Creed Unity and Call of Duty Advanced Warfare on the PS4 for 26 and 21 dollars respectively. Additionally, there was a 50% bonus trade-in that week for video games and on top of that I have Gamer's Club Unlocked, which gave me an extra 10% on video game trade-ins.  All that would have came out to $77.55. 
    I think that BestBuy.com charged my card twice, but there is no way to confirm it. Either that or Best Buy had given me less for my trade-in.

    Using the e-mail you registered on the forum, I was able to view the order, and transaction history. It does look like your gift card was charged twice, but the good news is that our customer support agents have sent you a new gift card with the missing balance. You should see this card arrive within 10 - 12 business days. If you do not see it arrive within this timeframe please let me know.

  • Charged twice for Slider Lock to be upgraded to paid version but application not downloaded

    I was on BB Applications and decided to buy the paid version of the slider lock, I used my credit card to buy this application, now my credit card has been charged twice for this application and all I have got is an error message stating that there was an internal error and so I should try again later, I have already tried twice, each time you try, your credit card gets charged and you get the error message.The support website for slider lock is : www.getempower.com and it is a product by Ajani Infotech Private Ltd , and so i tried contacting them and sent them e-mails but all in vain it seems as I did not get any response from anywhere and also even after being charged twice for the same application, did not get anything from the company. Can someone please forward this matter to the concerned authorities and can i get the paid version and also refund for the money charged in access?
