Correct clock time adjustment

Hello guys,
yesterday I set my clock to the right time via the following commands:
date -s 00:00
hwclock --systohc
Today I recognized that there is already a difference of three minutes to the right time. I know that isn't much but nevertheless I want to know the reason for that.
Is that normal?
Thank you in advance.

Hardware clocks are not accurate in computers. They run from a battery when the computer is not connected to an outside source.
You can use openntpd or ntp to synchronize your hardware clock to the internet. ArchWiki article: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ntpd

  • Daylight Savings started in my country... Alarm clock time did not change

    Hi,
DST began in mexico. My iphone clock is set to "Mexico City" time zone and the clock indeed adjusted automatically to DST this past sunday.
The iphone alarm (not a 3rd party app, but the original iphone alarm app) is what had a weird behavior... the time for "Alarm 1" was displayed to be set at, say 7am. But the alarm went off at 8am!
The time shown in the app for all my alarms is correct but they are all coming off one our late of the time shown; as if set at the pre daylight savings time.
    Please Help.
FWIW, all my calendar (exchange-synconized) appointments are working correctly.

I found that even though the correct time and time zone where set on my iPhone, it depended on what my iTunes account time zone was set to. I had relocated country recently, and because I had to open a new iTunes account in my new country of residence, my iPhone alarms and calendar reminders would pop up depending on what iTunes account I happened to be singed in with. So I closed my old iTunes account, and thus elimiated the problem of accidentally singing in with my old itunes account that was set to a different time zone. Hope this helps someone, as I was frustrated for months before I discovered this. Cheers.

  • Why is the clock time off on my imac

The clock on my iMac is off about 10 minutes. How does this happen with a battery back up?

Hmmm, theres some file where it keeps timing things to adjust the clock by a certain amount, can't remember where or what it is.
Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when going from correct manual time to auto time.

  • How do i make a clock/timer that can be reset to zero?

I need to make this clock/timer to run my control off of. To be more detailed I need to ouput a steadily increasing voltage slowly over a period of time. I have my DAQ assist set up to output a voltage to my device but i can't figure out how to make the timer/clock correctly.

It seems you simply want to update the ramp at a constant dt, why would you need to reset anything?
There are two main ways to do this:
software timed: use a loop with a given delay and write single points to the output.
hardware timed: setup timing for your task and send the entire ramp to the hardware. It will do the rest. No extra code needed.

  • IPad 3 clock time

I have the iPad 3.  Just updated the new software, ios7.  The time on my home page at the top shows the incorrect time.  The clock icon also shows the same incorrect time.  However, when I tap the clock icon, the next page shows the correct time.  I am in Baltimore, MD and the time zone of New York is being used.  I can't figure out how to correct the home page time.  Can anyone help me?

Thank you.  I don't know why I did not see that in general settings.  Also, it was set to the automatic on selection.  When I turned that off, it corrected the time on the home screen at the top.  Your help was much appreciated!

  • Applying time adjustment twice.

I guess the time adjustment works on what is showing, not on the original photo time. I used Batch Change twice on some photos because some of them weren't imported with the time adjustment, so I thought, what the heck I'm just telling it the camera time (always UTC) and the local time zone, so if I do it again it shouldn't matter (I'm assuming Aperture is looking at the original photo time capture). But Aperture does the shift twice. I see this as a bug, but maybe my thinking is wrong.
This happens frequently for me because I use two camera's and also my girl friends pictures, and when I'm importing I sometimes forget to set the time adjustment.
    Update:
I dug into the library and the original photo has not been change and "Date Time Original" and "Date Time Digitized" are still the correct UTC zone. (But we all knew that since Aperture never changes the original.) Why can't I use this as the basis for resetting the "Image Date"?

    Hi all,
A developer came to me saying that he put a 11gr2 table into default compression mode which was already in default compresssion mode. After that 32GB of table got compressed to 26GB. How is this possible? Is it that it is double compressed?
Right now I do not have access to that database nor do I know how to find what happed there. Only thing I can think of is that , the table was originally put in compression in 11gr1 and then again applied compression in 11gr2,so some algorithm enhancement might have done this.
    Any thoughs?
with this I am also wondering what happens when enahancements are introduced in any feature I mean let say in case of compression if a algorithm enhanced will the enahancement be applied on the whole table or the data that will be inserted/updated post such upgrade?multiple compression option available in 11gR2 with different compression level.

and Compression can occur while data is being inserted, updated, or bulk loaded into a table.

  • QuickWeb Clock Time

    Pavilion G4-1229dx, Windows 7 64 bit
When the Windows clock is set to the correct local time, the QuickWeb time is too hours fast.
To get QuickWeb clock to the same time as the Windows clock, I must set the QuickWeb clock to use a time zone two hours earliert than my local time zone.
This work around does the job but I don't think it should work that way.  I've tried changing the Windows internet sync location, tried manually settiing one clock, both clocks, and not manually setting either clock;  the Bios time is correct. Nothing helps. I've run out of ideas.
Any suggestions for getting the QuickWeb clock and the Windows clock on the same time zone showing the correct local time?
I looked at some HP laptops on display in stores and they have the same two hour error.
    Thanks,
    Rich

HP is offering to replace or refund the price paid for the laptop as they are unable to fix the issue nor have any matching replacement....
All those having HP laptops, its a good opportunity to check your Quick web clock time and if it doesnt match Windows clock time (which i am 100% sure will not), then approach HP Support and escalate for replacement / refund....irrespective of how old your machine is this issue is inherent problem in all HP machines for which you should be duly compensated
Dont miss this chance of recovering the value for money paid to HP
    Cheers!

  • Payroll using time evaluation with clock times

    Dear all,
I have configured an employee to have time management status 1, and my company would like to use attendance for time recording instead of time event since our clocking interface cannot provide exact clock times. I have also configured HRSIF to return 1 for all conditions.
I found every thing run correctly after creating the attendance records for all days of a payroll period while all attendance hours are equal to the planned work time. However, I have modified some of the days to attendance hours less than planned working hours (with no exact time inputted), I've noticed that the time evaluation can be processed successfully, but the attendance hours are not being calculated in the payroll result.
Does SAP actually support payroll for attendance with no exact clock time? If yes, what may I miss in my configurations?
    Thanks
    Steven

    Hi,
    Thanks for the advice.
For suggestion 1, yes, it can do I want if the attendance hours is actuall equal to the planned working hours. However, say I have a case that the planned working hours is 8, and a workman shows up for 6 hours and take 2 hours leave, the system still require me to enter the clock time in order to get the attendance and absence be calculated.
For suggestion 2, I understand that there's always be way if I do programming, however, my company decided not to do any customization, so I should first find if there's a default solution in SAP.
    Thanks.

  • Time adjustment problem!!

I accidently entered the wrong information while importing some photos and got the wrong time zone, I then tried to do a batch adjustment to get the correct time and just made matters worse. I am totally confused on how to get the correct adjusted time zone. Can anyone lead me in the right direction on how to either restore the default camera time so that I can then do a batch change to the zone I need or explain to me how I can get the correct zone entered manually.
    Thanks

I agree, Apertures way seems a little counter intuitive but I think they did it that way to account for the time zones being named within Apertures file, not just the time it was shot without any relationship to time zones. That being said what you need to do is make sure the second lines time zone is your actual time zone, then on the first pick out a time zone the correct number of hours in front of or behind you to correct the time difference in the files. \
So if you need to shift the time period an hour later, put in a time zone that is 1 hour behind yours in the "Camera's Time Zone" and put your time zone in the "Actual Time Zone".
Do the opposite for going 1 hour earlier, pick a time zone 1 hour before yours and use yours for the actual time zone.

  • Clock time still in California, though iBook isn't

Okay, I just got an iBook for the wife on eBay. It came from California. I'm in New York, so of course I changed the time zone setting. However, when I set the clock to automatically correct the time to online, it still gives California time.
So, it's a 1.2 GHz iBook G4, running 10.5.8. Any thoughts on how to convince it it's not in Cali anymore?
    Thanks

Hi, that pref seems to be stored in 10.5.8 in a hidden file called...
    /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist
But another can affect whether the setting is saved or not also.
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then trash...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    Reboot
See if the Time Zone holds.

  • Clock/time incorrect after upgrade to bootcamp 5 running windows 8-64

Since I did the upgrade to bootcamp 5 running windows 8-64, (which solved all the previous problems), the clock/time changes by itself to be off by hours frequently throughout the day.

I'd suggest you upgrade to OSB10.4.0.1.0 release.
Webtool taking ages is probably related to some other OS issue, check /var/log/messages and whatever and check your DNS settings are all correct.
What about obtool commands, are they also slow?
    Thanks

  • How to correct system time

    Hi
Can any one help me how to correct JVM time.. when we run interface at 14.00 hrs, file has been created with date and time stamp like 20090112-020012 this way.. however i would be expecting 20090112-140012 . here if you see the difference, 12 hrs time format has been set.. that's why system never shows more than 12 hours. Although it's a silly issue, but want to understand where we are missing.

Have iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X Yosemite (10.10 ) and iCal app suddenly will not display the correct Event times that I have designated in the little pop up box? Any ideas about what I can do to reset iCal or fix this annoying error in the app?

    Hi,
Have you tried turning it off in iCal's Preferences and then back on again?

  • Flash Flip Clock Timer

    Hi all,
I am looking to develop a flip clock timer to place on a
company website to show when some software will be made available
(basically a release count down timer). I have seen a similar style
of what I am looking to do
    here.
Although the one I want to create should count down not display the
    time.
The reason for my post is I have no idea where to start and
was hoping someone could point me in the right direction to a
tutorial or provide a small sample fla.
    Kind regards
    David.

that's going to require some advanced scripting and i don't
know of any tutorials. i made something similar with numbers
    flipping like an old-time scoreboard.
you'll need to tween the _yscale and _y property of the
number lower halves to give the appearance of flipping
    numbers.
