HP -Other hardware, printer - Null Fax - HP Officejet 8610

I recently update to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 on a desk top machine. Everything went well until Windows is trying to install an update for this printer (HP Officejet 8610). It is getting error 8007002. I checked the Windows site to find a fix and found nothing that works. I did try a couple solutions that I found which did not resolve the error. Has anyone run into this error and if you did were you able to get it resolved? I would appreciate a solution if someone has it. Thanks.

Hi @beary_one
According to the Windows website "If you receive Windows Update error 80070490, it means that a file (CBS Manifest) that's needed to install updates is corrupt."
This seems to apply to different error codes, including 8007002
Please take a look at what I found: Windows Update error 80070490
It appears the reason the file is appearing as corrupt is because it is whats is referred to as a "ghost update". Basically a "ghost update" is an update that was for the device, but the device has more recent drivers which causes the update to keep failing.  The only thing you can do is hide the update, or ignore it.  Windows will keep trying to push it, but your printer doesn't need it.  If it did need the update, it would install right.
Aside from there error, are you experiencing any issues printing, scanning, or using the HP software?
If so, running the Print and Scan Doctor could help. The HP Print and Scan Doctor is a free utility (tool) that helps to quickly resolve common printing, scanning and connectivity issues including but not limited to:
Connectivity:
USB: Verifies that the USB connection from your computer to the HP product is working correctly.
Network: Verifies that the network connection between your computer and your network is working correctly.
Device Status Test: Checks for device errors such as out of paper, paper jams, carriage stalls, and paper feed issues, and then provides instructions for fixing the error.
Driver Check: Checks for missing or corrupt driver files.
Device Manager: Checks for problems in Device Manager that would prevent printing.
Device Online: Checks if the product has been paused or set to offline, and then sets the status back to online if necessary.
Print Queue: Checks for and clears pending print jobs in the print queue (a log of print jobs waiting to print).
Port Match: Checks the port settings for the HP product.
Device Conflicts: Checks for conflicts with other drivers, such as other printer brands.
Ink Issues: Checks the cartridges and ink levels for issues that affect print quality.
Print Settings: Checks and adjusts the print quality settings.
Test Print: Prints a test page for print quality evaluation, and provides options for cleaning and aligning the printhead if necessary.
Scan Tests: Checks the scan mechanism, drivers, and registry entries.

Click here to download and run the Print and Scan Doctor >>>>> > www.hp.com/go/tools
If that does not resolve the issue, post back and let me know if there are any symbols other than green check marks and what they are next to of course. The wrench is not always easy to spot as the wrench and the check mart are in the green circle.
If you see only green check marks (), the tool did not find any problems.
If you see green wrenches (), the utility identified an issue and corrected it automatically.
If you see yellow exclamation points (), the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.
If you see a red X (), follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
I hope this puts your mind at ease

The indicated update (HP - Other hardware, Printer - Null Fax - HP Officejet Pro 8620) is supplied by Microsoft was an optional update for the HP 8620. Installation fails, with 80070490 error. Hello Ermagherd, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are having issues with your print drivers.  I would like to help.
Are you connected USB or wireless?
I would suggest deleting the printer from your print system, using this document: Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once you have deleted it, I would suggest verifying and repairing the disk permissions: About Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions feature.
I would also suggest running your Apple updates:  OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps
After the updates, I would recommend reinstalling the HP Officejet Pro 8600 series Full Feature Software and Driver.

Does anyone know how to install the Fax Printer for an HP Officejet Pro 8500 to work with Mountain Lion? HP website says it's in Mountain Lion. Never had a HP, but with my Canon device that supports Faxing from OS X, you see multiple entries in the Default view of the Add printer window. One for printing, one for scanning and one for faxing. When you select the entry showing Fax in the Kind column, the supporting fax driver is selected.

    Hi
    Can you try this.
Download this HP SW driver from HP.com
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4142&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4083...
This is a mountain lion installer, currently there's no support for Mavericks. Just downlaod this.
After you ahve downloaded, install the sw.
When you reach the page below, try to check everything.
Whne you reach this page, select the "Bonjour Multifunction" and in Use: select the the HP Officejet ******. Dont select AirPrint. You should see the HP Fax during this page. If dontsee the Fax, just wait for a while maybe 2mins. Update me if you dont. And continue the installation.
After the installation, click "System Preferences" in the dock. Select Printers & Scanners, on this page you should see the Printers and Faxes of your printer.
Please try it out and update me the outcome.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a - Print when Fax is Not Saved

Can I make it so a fax is printed when it's not saved? I know I can set it to print and save every time, but I rely on HP Digital Fax to save paper. If a fax is not saved, either due to a network error or if the computer that it usually saves to is shut off, can the fax just be printed?

, it's nice to meet you. I think I found something that may help with your faxing dilemma. This information was in the User Guide for the Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a; pg 69. Set up backup fax Depending on your preference and security requirements, you can set up the printer to store all the faxes it receives, only the faxes it receives while the printer is in an error condition, or none of the faxes it receives. The following backup fax modes are available:On > The default setting. When Backup fax is On, the printer stores all received faxes in memory. This enables you to reprint up to eight of the most recently printed faxes if they are still saved in memory. NOTE: When printer memory is low, it overwrites the oldest, printed faxes as it receives new faxes. If the memory becomes full of unprinted faxes, the printer stops answering incoming fax calls. NOTE: If you receive a fax that is too large, such as a very detailed color photo, it might not be stored in memory due to memory limitations.
On Error Only > Causes the printer to store faxes in memory only if an error condition exists that prevents the printer from printing the faxes (for example, if the printer runs out of paper). The printer continues to store incoming faxes as long as there is memory available. (If the memory becomes full, the printer stops answering incoming fax calls.) When the error condition is resolved, the faxes stored in memory print automatically, and then they are deleted from memory.
Off > Faxes are never stored in memory. For example, you might want to turn off Backup fax for security purposes. If an error condition occurs that prevents the printer from printing (for example, the printer runs out of paper), the printer stops answering incoming fax calls. NOTE: If backup fax is enabled and you turn the printer off, all faxes stored in memory are deleted, including any unprinted faxes that you might have received while the printer was in an error condition. You must contact the senders to ask them to resend any unprinted faxes. For a list of the faxes you have received, print the Fax Log. The Fax Log is not deleted when the printer is turned off. To set backup fax from the printer control panel 1. Touch (right arrow), and then select Setup.2. Touch Fax Setup, and then select Advanced Fax Setup.3. Touch Backup Fax Reception.4. Touch On, On Error Only, or Off. Reprint received faxes from memoryIf you set the Backup fax mode to On, the received faxes are stored in memory, whether the printer has an error condition or not. NOTE: After the memory becomes full, the oldest, printed faxes are overwritten as new faxes are received. If all the stored faxes are unprinted, the printer does not receive any fax calls until you print or delete the faxes from memory. You might also want to delete the faxes in memory for security or privacy purposes. Depending on the sizes of the faxes in memory, you can reprint up to eight of the most recently printed faxes, if they are still in memory. For example, you might need to reprint your faxes if you lost the copy of your last printout. To reprint faxes in memory from the printer control panel 1. Make sure you have paper loaded in the main tray.2. Touch (right arrow), and then select Setup.3. Touch Tools or Fax Tools, and then select Reprint Faxes in Memory. The faxes are printed in the reverse order from which they were received with the most recently received fax printed first, and so on.4. If you want to stop reprinting the faxes in memory, touch the Cancel button.  Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,

  • What other hp print drivers will work with the officejet pro 8600

I have an Officejet Pro 8600 and like many others here, I am having a problem printing a custom size envelope (6x9). I did find that I can use the drivers for a deskjet 450 and setup  my 8600 using those drivers. However, the 450 6x9 does not have a portait option in the layout.
My question is, what other hp print drivers will work in the 8600? I'm hoping one will have a 6x9 portrait layout?

    Hello wingcheck,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're receiving a problem printing a custom envelope size (6x9). You did state that you installed a Deskjet 450, but it doesn't come with a portrait option. I will do my best to assist you!
First,  I need to find out your operating system on your computer? Windows or Mac?
If you have a Windows computer and using this Deskjet 450 driver, have you checked Devices and Printers on your computer to see if you have this portrait option:
    1) Right click on the Deskjet 450, then click on Printer Preferences
    2) Very top you should see a tab called "Finishing" and look for Orientation
    3) You should see portrait, landscape, rotate by 180 degrees or mirror image.
    4) Let me know if you don't have this option on this post
If not, then I would recommend installing a Deskjet 9800 to see if you have this option. Please follow this HP document on Installing an Alternate Print Driver in Windows 7 for a USB Cable Connection. When setting up this custom size, change the paper type to "Other Specialty Media". Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!
Hi Cheetah .... I don't have access to my printer at the moment due to travel, but here's what I have right now. My operating system is Windows 7 64. That's not much, but it is a start. I will have the additional information for you in a day or so. Something else I discovered in the user guide, which I didn't know, is that each tray will only handle specific media. So, when I print envelopes, I will have to use Tray 1 in order to do so.
Now I do have another question for you. Can I have installed, 2 different sets of print drivers at the same time without it causing a conflict? I'm assuming the diffenent driver will simply show up as a different printer in the listed printers, right?? Any way, thanks for your quick response, and upon arriving home, I will follow your previous suggestions. I will also keep you posted as to my success or failure.
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Daniel1963,
The fax driver has to be installed in printers and scanners window in able to fax from the computer.
    Click on the Apple.
Click system preferences, click the printers and scanner icon, then click the + sign, then select the
printer name with fax beside it if it is available from the list, then click on the add button.
(if the Apple Update doesn't add the fax driver then you won't be able to send the fax from the computer since there isn't a Full Feature driver for Mavericks)
    Try sending a fax.
Go to file, print and select the fax and fill out fax number, then send the fax.

  • Printing problems with HP OfficeJet G55

I have a MacBook running OS X 10.5.4 and I'm having problems printing with my HP OfficeJet G55. I have updated to HP Printer Driver 1.1.1, but after updating, I realized my printer type was not in the list. So that did not fix the problem. I connect my printer to my computer by USB and as soon as I hook it up, the computer recognizes the kind of printer.
When I go to System Preferences-->Print & Fax--> Open Print Queue, it says "Printer Ready". Then when I want to print out a page and after I hit Print, it says something like Printing 11%,...,100%, then automatically the status of whatever I wanted to print says "complete", but the page has not even printed yet. My printer did nothing. I have tried rebooting, and had the same problem. I have also tried deleting the printer from system preferences/print & fax and then adding the printer again, and it doesn't work.
There is nothing wrong with my printer because I printed out a test page, and it worked fine. Also when it's connected to a desktop computer we have..Windows XP, the printer also works. And even when I connect the printer to my old ibook (I think it's on OS 9.1), it also works.
Please if anyone knows about this, I need instructions on correcting the problem!
    Thank you!!

A Gutenprint driver for that model is included in OS X:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1370#hpdrivers
I'd guess you have a corrupted file somewhere. Try these generic fixes:
Reset Printing System - In Print & Fax prefs:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/14001.html
Get the downloadable Combination Updater from Apple, use it to re-Update OS X.
Use Disk Utility to repair the HD (see Try Disk Utility):
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
(Final step - reinstall OS X using the Archive & Install option in the installer.)

  • Hp officejet 8610 fax sends out more pages than scanned - received partial output on remote end

Hp officejet 8610 fax sends out more pages than scanned - received partial output on remote end

    Hi,
How long is a page on the sender side?  If it is a long page like a legal page, it may end up in in 2 pages in the receiver side. Also check on the receiver end, if it is set to 'auto reduction - off' this may happen, try turning it "on".
Also if the sender page is not a long page, try observing the paper that is going into the ADF, it should be 1 page at a time, if pages goes into the ADF continueously, it suggest that ADF is could be faulty.
Set automatic reduction for incoming faxes (for HP printers only)
The Automatic Reduction setting determines what the printer does if it receives a fax that is too large
for the default paper size. This setting is turned on by default, so the image of the incoming fax is
reduced to fit on one page, if possible. If this feature is turned off, information that does not fit on the
first page is printed on a second page. Automatic Reduction is useful when you receive a Legal-size
fax and Letter-size paper is loaded in the main tray.
To set automatic reduction from the printer control panel
    1. From the printer control panel display, touch and slide your finger across the screen and then
    touch Setup.
    2. Touch Fax Setup.
    3. Touch Advanced Fax Setup.
    4. Touch Automatic Reduction to turn on or off.
