OfficeJet 8500 Pro A910 display freezed on "Printing in progress"

Hi,
I've a problem with my OfficeJet 8500 Pro A910. When I send a file to print the print queue on PC shows "Print error" and on the printer display appears "Printing in progress" but nothing is printed. At this point I must switch off the printer, wait some seconds, switch on the printer and send again the file to the printer, so the file is finally printed.
The printer is plugged by wired network and I've the same error on Windows 8 and Windows 7 PC. Why?

Hello and thank you for your update.
In my honest opinion and from my experience working in this field, it could be anything at this point. Your printer may be having an issue where the screen is freezing when you send a command to the printer.
You want to try everything before you determine it's your printer that is at fault.
Make sure you have this printer plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector?
Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall your software? (To make sure that's not a possible cause)
How long have you been experiencing this issue for?
Also, try a hard reset. Click here to perform this step.
Let me know your troubleshooting steps and I will continue to assist you further.

  • Officejet 8500 Plus A910, in OS 10.6, won't keep duplex accessory recognized.

I have the duplex printing accessory installed on my new Officejet 8500 Plus A910. I am using an iMac with OS 10.6. When I first set up the printer, I am pretty sure it recognized the duplexer. However, now it does not automatically recognize the duplexer. EACH TIME I want to print on both sides of the paper, I have to go into System Preferences first and click on the check box that the duplex accessory is installed. Then the printing program will indicate that two-sided printing is ON. Otherwise, the two-sided printing option (under "layout" in the print dialog box says "OFF" and is grayed-out. How do I get the printer/software to keep the duplex accessory recognized?

Thanks for response on the Epson duplex mode problem. I downloaded the updater, but it would NOT open after I installed it. The install created a second file called InkJet Printer 2 (original was w/o the 2). The updater tool is v 8.33 on the one just downloaded while the existing one was v 6.66, so definitely a later version. The v 6.66 gave message "unexpected quit", so it would not open either. Got same results on iMAC and MAC PRO. Do I delete the original InkJet printer file before installing the new download? Was afraid to as afraid driver would not work at all. What am I doing wrong???
When select duplex mode in the print window get message "duplexer not installed" on both computers.

  • Auto run file for installation of HP Officejet 8500 Pro A909g Missing from driver download

I have a HP Officejet 8500  Pro A909g. I downloaded the new Windows 8.1 64 bit driver as 8.1 would not allow the scanner to operate on the existing driver.  Printing was fine. When i went to install the wizard,  auto run file for the wizard is missing and so the installation can  not run and instal the new driver.

    Hello IanHP8500,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you're having an issue getting your Officejet 8500 scanning on Windows 8.1. I will do my best to help you with this issue.
Did you upgrade to 8.1 from an older version of Windows?
If so, with it not scanning correctly. You can try just removing the HP Solution Center from programs and features.
Go to the bottom left corner of your screen right click on the Windows icon> go to Control Panel> Go to Programs> uninstall Solution Center if it's listed.
Next, instead of using the printer install wizard. Download the software from this link: HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver. Let it run through, it should prompt to " add more software". This should allow you to reinstall Solution Center.
If you run into issues, there is something you may have to do. If you get a file missing error here, or the install hangs check your computer for the following.
McAfee Live Safe - Disable the "Realtime Scanning".
Check for and remove HPOINS*.dat or HPWINS*.dat. Here is a link to a post by JonW on how to do this: Re: installer setup hangs under Windows 8.1.
Try all of this, and let me know how you make out. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • HP Officejet 8500 wireless A909g all-in-one printer

Just some information for those who have HP Officejet 8500 wireless A909g all-in-one printer.  I purchased one in June, 2010.   The yellow cartridge was empty as of Dec. 20, so I replaced it with a brand new genuine HP yellow cartridge.  The result was a sort of dull, dirty-looking yellow mustard color.  I called HP tech support, and was advised to remove and clean all the ink cartridges and printheads, replace them in the printer, and print a document.  The problem was not corrected.
I was then asked to remove the printheads and replace them with the new HP printheads that I had purchased after buying the printer, for backup.  This corrected the problem 100%.  Since this happened before the expiration dates for the printheads, HP is shipping me, at no charge, brand new printheads.   I commented that I've used HP color printers for 12 yrs., & never had to replace printheads within a 6-month period.  I was advised that this seems to be a problem with all of the 8500 models.  The tech support was excellent, and very courteously supplied by a very experienced technician.

I, too have used HP printers only for 12 years and had nothing but the best in tech sppt. Thinking along those lines, I purchased an HP laptop. Worst experience of my life!!! There is nothing in the way of cust. svc even tho the warranty is 4 yrs. Don't know if I will continue to purchase HP printers, but most certainly will NOT ever purchase another laptop. May leave HP altogether after my last experience. I had an issue with the MB. Notified them and they wanted me to send it back. I could but only if I were allowed to remove the harddrive and RAM because I have approximately 47 clients' ledgers on my system. Was told that would void my warranty and also was told I could NOT take it to a local HP facility. Was never told why. I'm an IT graduate with certs in many areas. Was told I could not repair it myself. Still cannot understand that. Purchased an Acer and have had no issues so far. I'm still very bitter and probably will not get over it. I had a local business that I consult with ask me what products (printers, laptops and servers) I would recommend. They were looking at quite a few HP devices. I had to advise against those because of my experience and explained that to my client. That may have cost HP between 15 and $20,000. They should be very careful how they treat their customers. It could come back to bite them as it did with the client I spoke with. Just because a customer is just 1 person with a very small footprint, doesn't mean you can treat them this way.

  • HP OfficeJet 8500 Pro A909n error says printhead has problem, can't access tests or fixes

The printer was not printing but a few streaks of magenta. I ran the tests and the test printing and did the functions to allign printheads, clean printheads, and calibrate linefeed but still could not get magenta to print. I read much advise on the forum and followed it: after making sure the ink cartridges were not empty, I first cleaned the contacts on the 2 printheads and replaced them. After a partial reset, the printer could not get proper allignment. After using the HP Print & Scan Doctor to do the tests and the services again (including 3 trials at allignment), the printer could still not get allignment. While I was getting this error message, I could press OK and bypass the message to allow printing and other functions.
Then I started getting an error message that there was a problem with the Black/Yellow printhead. This error message could not be bypassed and I could not access Setup, it would not respond to anything I tried to do from the HP Print & Scan Dr, or the Solution Center, or the embedded web server--I could also not bypass the error message to access the printer from the LCD touchplate. Then it switched error message to say that there was a problem with the Magenta/Cyan printhead. Trying to do tests or services from the Solution Center, I get the screen where it shows that there's adequate ink in all the cartridges, but then when trying to access any of the Services, I get the error message on my computer that there were no ink cartridges detected! Because of this wrong conclusion by the Solution Center, it won't run any of the Services.
I don't believe any of the 2 printheads need to be replaced. I think that whatever it takes to allign the printheads is not working right. Because I could not get past the printhead problem error message, I tried a full reset by plugging in the printer while holding down the 3 and the # symbol on the keypad. Then I was prompted to choose a language and location, but it went right back as I confirmed the location as the USA to the printhead error message and I'm back to square one, unable to do anything or to print anything. I could replace both printheads, but I'm afraid the printer will still not be able to do a proper allignment and still will not print with the same error message or something new. Is there any help for this printer?

Welcome to the forums @uvbogden !
I read through your post about the problems you have been having with your Officejet 8500 A909a model. To be honest with you, you seem to have tried just about all of the steps I could have possibly suggested to you, in order to get through the alignment problem. Usually when this happens, the printhead(s) have failed, and need to be replaced, or the printer itself could have an internal malfunction and a new unit entirely might be needed. I have found some troubleshooting guides for you to check out below, perhaps browse through them and try any steps that you may not have tried to see if they can help.

  • MacBook Pro Retina Display freezes

15" MacBook Pro Retina display has started to freeze, "flutter" and crash. After I power off, and try to power back on, there is a "beep" which sounds ominously similar to an "error" beep on a PC. Anyone else had this occur? MacBook is less than 9 months old.

I never had this issue until now. My laptop was working alright, but I noticed ghosting, then I realized that it was overheating and on rare occasions it would freeze. But I never got a white screen saying: Your computer restarted because of an error
neither did I before have this beeping and crashing. It all happened after they switched the motherboard..
I am in Israel, and when I took my laptop in to change the motherboard they said it would take them 10 working days. I can't go without a laptop for that long, I'm a student, and I use my laptop for work as well... Aren't they supposed to give me a replacement or something for that time? I don't understand how the think to take so much money for a computer then not even provide a replacement computer, especially for such a high-end, professional piece of equipment..

  • Compatibility Issue(s): Airport Express and HP Officejet 8500 Pro. How to enable network-printing?

    Hello there,
I recently bought a Macbookl pro and now wanted to connect my Denon S 302 and my printer to my wireless network. Since the Denon S 302 cannot connect to my mac (since it's fireware is to old, so there are combatibility issues as well), I bought a "Airport Express station". The station has been configurated as a seperate wireless network, the stereo device (my Denon) and the HP Officejet were also connected. The stereo device with it's optical plug, the printer first over USB and then over ethernet conncetion.
The setup was quite easy, the stereo device is also working with my iTunes libary, so the connection from Mac to Airport Express is not the problem.
Also the printer is working correct, when it's plugged in my Mac... Both connection ways, the USB and Ethernet connection were not working, the printer cannot be activated it's status is offline.
Also the Manual does not really help.
The prouble shooting here linked a document to the HP site, which states, that my printer will not work with the airport express station, so is this ture???
Unfortunatly the warranty is exeeded, so there are no possibilities to connect the HP support via Mail or ask any questions..
Thanks for any help and advice in this case...

    There is another problem:
The printer is recognized in the router setup, so it should work, but since I'm now using a Mac instead of my old Laptop, the router cannot forward the printer to my Mac, this only works with Windows PC's ...
I could post a link to the official help board of my telephone provider (the distributor of my router), but since this post is in german, it might not really help. But what was said, that it could work, if Apple would help them to get the right settings...
Now I'm trying again to connect the printer to the Airport Express, which is now connected to the existing wireless network, instead of building a new one...
So, are there any more possible solutions?
And thanks in forward for all your help...
    Greetings from Germany

  • Officejet 8500 pro Wireless problems

This week I bought an HP pro 8500 wireless printer.  I've never owned a wireless printer before, so I actually read the instructions and before installing the printer software, I ran the wireless wizard on the unit--entered the 10-digit WEP, which was accepted. Then within seconds the printer started to wig out. Cycles between "turn printer off and on", then after doing so, get "Improper Shutdown", as if I didn't use the power button to turn it off.
I'm running Windows Vista Premium SP1, and am using a 2wire 1800HG  modem/router with my ATT DSL--have a static IP, as my service was installed up in 1999, back when you had to live within five miles of a switching station. The connection is very stable, and as far as I know, only one update was done to the unit (remotely by a ATT tech) when I upgraded to PRO service.
Same thing happens when I try to connect via ethernet. When I turn the printer's radio off and connect via USB, it works fine, albeit wired. The printer's network diagnostic printout says it can't locate the SSID.
I'm dealing with HP support in India, and they have been OK,  have had me try all of the normal stuff (reset, not using power strip, etc), to no avail. Now they are going to access my set remotely, hopefully this morning. Any ideas what may be causing this? Could my router be incompatible?

The problem with some HP wireless printers (including the Officejet Pro 8500) and AT&T's 2WIRE DSL wireless-router is a known issue. For others reading this, the problem is that the printer FW faults when you connect the printer to the 2WIRE router (Ethernet or Wireless).
The work around is to use assign a static IP address to the printer. Here's one way to do this:
Unplug he telephone line from the 2WIRE router
Turn the power off on the 2WIRE router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the 2WIRE device (Ethernet or Wi-Fi). The printer will not crash as long as the telephone line is disconnected from the 2WIRE device.
From the Officejet's front panel, access the "Advanced Setup" menu under "Network"
Select "IP Settings", acknowledge the warning and select "Manual IP Address"
Select "IP Address" and change the last IP address group (octet) to something higher or lower. Specifically for your 2WIRE router, select 192.168.0.60.
Press Ok and plug in the telephone line into the 2WIRE router.

I was shocked when I was trying to do my reports yesterday, after upgrading to Win 8.1 and finding the driver for my OJ 8500 WILL NOT WORK in printing off ADOBE which lead to me trying to open the HP Solution Center and it just pops up a box that says HP Solution Center cannot run because device install NOT COMPLETE. I understand you're having issues with the Solution Center program after upgrading to Windows 8.1. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues but I will do my best to help.
I'd like you to uninstall your HP printer software (if you have an HP computer, make sure you are only removing HP printer software from the computer) and once it's been completely removed we will want to attempt to reinstall. To reinstall the software I'd like you to download and run the HP Printer Install Wizard to get the software downloaded and reinstalled.

  • Paper jam error message - HP Officejet 8500 pro - please help, deployed no return option

You may have solved this now but this problem seems to be inherit to the HP design. I have it also after 6 months of operation.   I have downloaded the new firmware and it does not help.  I have found a  symptom of the problem is the arm does not drop down and the paper does not feed.  Then, loud clicking noises take place and a "out of paper" error happens.  Countless calls to HP does nothing to solve this.  One partial fix I tried after reading it here is to set your paper settings for " HP Premium Inkjet Paper" This seems to work but the printing is at a much slower rate.  Not a final fix. I have been trying to work with HP, but they are making it very difficult to stay with them.

don't buy it. I had the paper feed problem - now a paper jam message (with no paper jam) - and HP is not interested in my business.  I installed this on 1/22/2010 and after about 300 pages, it is unusable.  (and "out of warranty")  Ridiculous.  I have gone back and forth with HP over the past 3 weeks and I have no progress to report.  Sad.Excellent history with 970 - 970Cse - 7310cxi - and coutless printers before that.  WHAT HAPPENED???ok - done venting I think. I don't know how to fix this - HP doesn't seem to know what to do besides replacing it with the same model that eventually has the same problem.  I will keep watching this in case there is real progress on this issue.  In the meantime, I fired up the 7310 and will NOT buy another HP unless I hear that they have their act back together.  (If they take too long, I'll go to Consumer Reports and pick the best printer there (non-HP)) Good Luck
