Pavilion m6 hinge

I am having the same issue as everyone in this forum and did not know that everyone else is having the same issues. I purchased the Pavilion M6 laptop less than 2 years old, but it is definitely out of warranty. I would love to get this issue resolved because I am really in need of my laptop. The sad thing is I could not wait and was forced to purchase a new HP Touchscreen desktop TODAY because I could not use my laptop screen because the hinges came loose and Now the laptop screen is just reflecting lines and I am unable to close the screen. I would love for someone from HP to contact me as well because I am a great supporter of your product but this laptop issue has me very very worried and concerned. Can someone please resolve this issue for me.  I would appreciate any assistance that can be offered as well. Thank You.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 hinge issue

I have an HP Pavilion dv7t-6000 Quad Edition notebook PC that i purchased in 2011. This laptop worked great for the first year and a half and then the left hinge snapped off and now the laptop lid won't close. If I try to close the lid, the plastic holding the screen begins to separate and crack. This is a known and very common flaw with the design of this model, yet there was no recall. I paid $1400+ for this laptop and it has lost its mobile functionality because of the hinge. Similar to other users with the same problem, I use my laptop normally in a work setting so there is absolutely no way that this problem is my fault. I need someone at HP to help me find a solution to this problem.

this is only a forum for people have their issues solved, the only advice you will recieve here is how to repair things, this isnt a customer complaints forum you will need to contact hp customer support, people on here dont actually work for hp

  • HP Pavilion g7 Hinge / casing breaking Issue

    Hello,
I've had this laptop HP Pavilion g7-2235dx for awhile and the side part of my laptop eventually cracked off. I didn't think too much of it  though it did bother me slightly. Overtime opening my laptop it started pulling the casing off and this is when I've gotten bothered by it. Now I fear having to open and close this laptop and it's such a shame because I like it quite a bit for what it cost me. I don't know what to do the screws are not loose on it as it's still intact on my laptop. What do I do / who do I contact for this? Now I just leave my laptop open when I'm done with it to not further worsen it.. But it's terrible because I bring it to  school occasionally..

  • Pavilion G7 Hinge Casing

Fixed loose screw on right hinge of G7 Pavilion, week later both sides popped out, left side casing broke and totally out, right side metal popped out screen attached, literally by thread ... trying to hold together and prop back up with something. Cannot afford to repair obvious by number of complaints design flaw, should be recall, free replacement screen. I cannot afford not to have the computer ie mail for and time to repair ... keep elderly, sick parents, literal lifeline..

  • HP Pavilion Left Hinge Broke

For some reason the other topic that had 255 replies has been closed???? I got off the phone with HP and was told it would be $200 to repair the damage done by their horrible hinges. Not that the care but they have lost me as a customer. Bye HP.

I reported, elevated the issue. HP is ready to Fix it.
    Thanks HP.
    All the very Best!

  • Pavilion dv7 hinge & power chord socket

A few months ago, the area on my laptop near the hinge cracked.  It became difficult to open the laptop because the plastic on the bottom was scraping against the top part.  Now, the socket that the power chord plugs into, along with the hardware around it, has separated from the case and is attached only by some wires.  Is there a way to have the hardware replaced, and how costly would this be?  It was an expensive laptop and still works very well, but is no longer under warranty.  I would ask HP, but I can't seem to get through on the support line, and I'm no longer eligible for live chat.

  • Hing conected to monitor case and wires broken on HP Pavilion dv6-6c13cl

    Hello,
I have a monitor with broken hing/monitor case and the wires that connect the monitor to the computer is also broken. (I know I droped it in is such way that the monitor is okay but the hings broken from over extension.)
I need to replace the monitor case.  The monitor works but the wire that comes out of it is in bad condition, needs either repair or placement.
    Basically what I need are
    1. The part number of the case with the hings.
    2.  The wire that connects the monitor to the computer, Or I can replace the monitor and I have found p/n  from this forum which is 665334-001  I belive.
    Thank you

    You need one of these:

Your display part nos are listed on page 31 of the Manual:
    Manual
The whole screen assembly with hinges is not a single part; you have to order multiple parts.
Here is a complete screen assembly with hinges and the cable for $107 plus shipping:

You will never order all the parts separately, even without the screen for less than that from HP.

  • Pavilion dv7 - heating and fan problems, hinge broken - DO NOT PURCHASE THIS JUNK!!!

This message is targetted towards people looking to purchase an HP Pavilion dv7 series of notebooks. Hopefully they are scanning these boards prior to purchase, something I (very) regretfully did not do.
    My system: Intel i7 Q720 @ 1.60GHz, 8GB, ATI mobility radeon HD5650 1GB, Windows 7 home premium 64 bit.
Almost immediately, there were severe overheating problems. Even under normal use (1- 4% CPU, Word, Excel etc.) it became too hot on the left side to keep on my lap. My kids actually burned their hands on that part. I once used it on a table with a vinyl tablecloth. It actually melted the vinyl!
Running any CPU/GPU intensive software causes a shutdown due to overheating, a real nuiscance with playing games or watching video in HD. Just as a test, I ran one computationally intensive program overnight while I kept the machine in my freezer. Even then, it overheated and shutdown! (I have not overclocked; just running my software on the hardware as purchased).
Even in normal use, the fan runs very high, and is very noisy. It is so noisy that I cannot leave it on in my bedroom.
Finally, because of the positioning of the vent, I am certain that the intense heat weakens the left hinge. I am very careful with how I open lids, always with both hands on the lid. Within two months, the left hinge cracked. I argued extensively with HP, but they insisted that it was my fault, and I was charged for the fix.
I'm wondering whether the designers ever turned on (let alone stress tested) these units prior to selling this piece of !@#$.
Added bonus: within 4 months, the hard drive failed, though I can't pin that on HP. While the drive was getting replaced, I went out and bought an Acer. It had better specs than the HP, was cheaper, lighter, and even with the CPU at close to 100 percent, the heat is hardly noticable, and the fan is barely audible.
I bought HP because most of the scientific instruments in our labs is manufactured by HP, and it is truly high quality , high precision equipement, some of it running for over 25 years problem free. From that, I really trusted the HP name, I trusted that their PC division would have equal quality and standards. !#$% was I wrong! I'm glad they're getting out of the PC business.
The only reason I'm keeping this junk is because I took the extended warranty at the store, and under it, after three major repairs, they will get me a new notebook of equal or greater value. I can't wait for that inevitable third breakdown!

The dv 7 eg 4012  is the biggest disapointment:
the hinge brakes, it has an overheating problem!!!
Be prepared to replace it after 12 months or pay the bill for the repairs, hundreds of dollars.
I purchased the laptop directly from the hp online store about a year and a half ago.
First of all I had to install the latest drivers because hp is not making sure it comes with up to date drivers.
To find out what the problem was I had to contact the costumer service about 6 times.
After about 12 months the laptop startet splitting at the left hinge.  The HP Costumer Service looked at the photos and told me this, Quote:  "We have received the attachment of broken hinges and find it is an user damage hence, the service of the Notebook would be done on chargeable basis."
Before you want to buy a hp laptop, please type into google:  broken hinge hp laptop
And you will see hundreds of posts of disappointed costumers.
Even class action lawsuit have been taken out against them.
For me, this was the last time that I invested about a 1000 Euros( bought it in Europe) in a product which needs to be replaced after a year and a half.
Please stay away from this product,
except you have plenty of time and money to keep this machine alive.

  • Where to Get Hinge Covers - Pavilion G6

    Hi,
I have a Pavilion G6, its model number is 1202EA, both hinge covers have snapped and I am trying to find out where to get replacement hinge covers without going to rip off eBay prices.

There were several more on eBay at around that price or a touch more. This guy has them at $4 apiece, but is selling one side per auction; ships worldwide:

  • Faulty Hinge on HP pavilion M6 Laptop

My wife and I both got a Pavilion m6 laptop and both have the same issue with each one.  The left hinge on her lap top the was $550 broke within a year, no damages were made to the laptop, it was well taken care of and it just slowly broke over time until it was all the sudden completely detached. It also caused damages to the screen. We weren't aware it even had a problem until the whole thing was all the sudden unattached. Then on my computer that was about $700+ after normal use and it being also well taken care of the same thing happens. The left hinge all the sudden is completely broken. This should not happen. A computer that is $500 and $700 should not have breaking hinges. We are very disatisfied with these computers for that reason and now we have to take much precaution just opening and closing them to make sure the problem doesn't get any worse.  Is there anything that can be done about this problem that should not have happened?

  • HP Pavilion dv7t broken hinge

I have a HP Pavilion dv7t that has a broken hinge. It has slowly become a problem. First the screw fell out and we tried to replace it but it did not hold it tight enough. I have been very carefull with my laptop and I very rarely move it from its location in our house. Now I realize that my free support ended last week September 25th.  I wish I had looked into the problem sooner because I have been dealing with it for months.
I have seen the other posts and seen where some have tried to get this fixed and others have been sent a new laptop. What are my options at this point? Will it cost me to call support and ask what they recommend I do?
I am very disappointed in HP because I have up to now had great trust in this company and it's products.

Just got my Pavilion m6 back from HP, fixed hinges and screen at no cost to me. Laptop was out of warranty, but after a long phone conversation, HP finally decided to make it right. There are numerous people with this same issue. Let them know that. Good luck
