Post Upgrade Activity: db6_update_db script
Hi Experts,
I've already upgraded db2 version from 9.1 to 9.7 but I am stuck in post upgrade activity where I need to run the db6_update_db script.
Question to this procedure: "Copy the file db6_update_db.bat (Windows) from the relevant operating system folder on the database DVD to a temporary directory (<temp_dir>)."
Is the <temp_dir> can be any directory? If not, what specific directory that I need to save the db6_update_db script?
I've tried to create a directory and save the script but when I issue the command I've got this error:
JAVA could not be found on the maschine
Please make sure that the DB2PATH environment variable is set to the installation directory of the DB2 software or set DB6_UPDATE_DB_JAVA to the full qualified path of your java.exe
I've tried this with different access like administrator, db2<dbsid> and <sapsid>adm but I have no luck.
Can anyone help me?

Chonalyn

BW 7.0 to 7.3 upgrade-Post upgrade activity and Transport the changes
Hi Experts,
We have upgraded our BW system from Release 7.0 to 7.3. As part of Security post upgrade activity I ran Migration steps,
RSECADMIN-Extras->Migrations->Migration:Release 7.0 to Release 7.3. and later SU25 steps too.
I fixed the Roles appeared in SU25 Step 2C and made below Characteristics as auth relevant,
0TCAACTVT
0TCAIPROV
0TCAVALID
But I have few doubts before Quality movement,
1) Do I need to Run the Migration steps again in Quality and Production?
RSECADMIN-Extras->Migrations->Migration:Release 7.0 to Release 7.3
2) Do I need to transport only above Characteristics to Quality and Production or need to transport all the Characteristics and Analysis Authorization?
3) How to transport Characteristics?
Please provide your views.
Regards
ParagHi,
Technically its possible but it has its own consequences again based on the kind of object that you are going to Tranport.
The above statement is applicable considering that you have 3.x flow in Bi7.0 system and with no DTP's or transformation etc...
And if the BI7.0 is Unicode and 3.5 system is non-unicode then you will have lot of issues and most of the times you need Basis help to resolve the issues. So its bit risk to move the transport this way.
So its better to develop the objects once again in 3.x system and then transport from D to Q and to P as a standard practice.
Hope this helps.

12.1.1 POST-upgrade ---verify concurrent process
I have upgraded 11.5.10.to 12.1.1 successfully when I was running post upgrade
Oracle® Applications
Upgrade Guide
Release 11i to 12.1.1
Part No. E14010-01
chapter 4
Step 1: Verify completion of concurrent programs (recommended)
The upgrade process creates numerous concurrent program requests. Once you bring
up the application tier, these programs run automatically to complete tasks such as data
cleanup and upgrades to historical data, among others. You can run these programs in
the background, while your system is up and running and users are active, unless
otherwise instructed in the product-specific sections of this book.
Before you continue, be sure all the concurrent programs generated by the upgrade
have run successfully. In the Required Post Upgrade Jobs section of E-Business Suite
Release 12 Upgrade Sizing and Best Practices (Doc ID: 399362.1), you will find a list of the
distinct concurrent programs included in the upgrade process. The Best Practices
section includes a recommendation on how to isolate these programs (and all their
executions) into a separate concurrent manager queue, which you can use for
processing.
post upgrade concurrent request were around 989 but
by mistake I stopped the concurrent manager and I ran cmclean.sql --:(
then after some time I shut abort the database
please tell me what should I do now
what impact will cmclean and shut abort will have ?
how do i know which request are clean by cmclean
and how can I ran them again??

Please suggest me, how to proceed and what to do. please guide if i skip this step now and later on I apply latest SP than still I need to do all this.

VinayHi All,
I also faced a similar issue during upgrade. Some useful findings.
1. Only super user can access this /n/ASU/START
2. All the obligatory executable tasks are automatically performed by the system automatically during upgrade. SAPADM. Only errors (if any) are to be corrected.
3. Some of the tasks are only to go through some SAP notes as a precaution before upgrade.
4. Execute all the checks /n/ASU/UPGRADE
5. This surely can be skipped, but not advisable.

Upgrading Oracle Text - Post upgrade step 10.2 to 11.2
I already upgraded my 10.2.0.4 database to 11.2.0.1 and have to do post upgrade steps. In step 39 of Manual guideline (837570.1) is not clear for me. If some one can explain further would be appriciated. When i check my source ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/ctxf102.txt or ctxf102.sql
Step 39
Upgrading Oracle Text
Copy the following files from the previous Oracle home to the new Oracle home:
* Stemming user-dictionary files
* User-modified KOREAN_MORPH_LEXER dictionary files
* USER_FILTER executables
To obtain a list of the above files, use:
$ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/ctxf<version>.txt
$ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/ctxf<version>.sql
where version is 920,101,102
For instance, if upgrading from 10.2.0
*1. For dictionary files check*
*$ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/ctxf102.txt*
*2. Execute the script as database user SYS,SYSTEM, or CTXSYS*
*$ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/ctxf102.sql*
If your Oracle Text index uses KOREAN_LEXER which was deprecated in Oracle 9i and desupported in Oracle 10g Release 2, see below Note for further information on manual migration from KOREAN_LEXER to KOREAN_MORPH_LEXER.
Note 300172.1 Obsolescence of KOREAN_LEXER Lexer TypeHi Srini
Thank you very much. now i got it.
Oracle asked me to identify the CTXCAT indexes with KOREAN_LEXER execute the following query as user CTXSYS: if nothing return then i can skip this step.
SELECT idx_name
FROM ctxsys.ctx_indexes
WHERE idx_type = 'CTXCAT'
AND idx_name IN
(SELECT ixo_index_name
FROM ctxsys.ctx_index_objects
WHERE ixo_class = 'LEXER'
AND ixo_object = 'KOREAN_MORPH_LEXER ');
SELECT isl_index_owner,isl_index_name,isl_language
FROM CTXSYS.ctx_index_sub_lexers
WHERE isl_object = 'KOREAN_MORPH_LEXER'; -
Question regarding MSCS post upgrade.
We currently have ECC 5.0 ABAP only system (NO JAVA) running in MSCS environment. ( Windows-SQL server)
Currently we have Two nodes such as Node 1 and Node 2. At a given time we have all resources running either on Node 1 or Node 2.
Now, we have completed upgrade of above ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0 ( again we do not have Java in ECC 6.0 ).
Asper upgrade guide Page # 141 Section 6.2 some post-upgrade activities are necessary for an MSCS configuration, for this follow OSS note 941092.
After reading these notes and as per OSS note 941092 / 1011190 / 919046 we have to install
1)"ASCS" instance and
2) Enqueue Replication server
3) Additional ABAP dialog instance on other node.
We will not be adding JAVA in future OR we do not want JAVA isntance at all.
So, my question is do we really have to do above step 1 , 2 & 3?
Can we leave system after upgrade as it is? i.e not to install ASCS and enqueue replication.
What is the necessity to install ASCS?in earlier version
Central Instance = Message Server + Enqueue server + disp+work
in newer version
ASCS = Message Server + Enqueue server (only)
you need to install CI (disp + work) + Enqueue Replication server in main node and DI (disp + work) + Enqueue Replication Server in additional node
from my understanding only ASCS and DB Instance are clustered
for example in my recent project
BEFORE UPGRADE
NODE 1 : CI Active + (DB INSTANCE passive)
NODE 2 : DB INSTANCE Active + (CI Passive)
AFTER UPGRADE
NODE 1 : ASCS (Active) + (DB INSTANCE passive) + ENQ Replication Server (Active) + Central Instance (Active)
NODE 2 : DB INSTANCE (Active) + ASCS (Passive) + ENQ Replication Server (Active) + Dialog Instance (Active)
Dialog Instance is optional but please do remember without Dialog instance, once your CI down, you dont have Application Server
Dialog Instance can be installed in additional node (node 2 in example above) or you can install in separate server
all this information you can read from Upgrade Guide and SAP Notes -

Recommendations
Oracle recommends gathering dictionary statistics prior to
upgrading the database.
To gather dictionary statistics execute the following command
while connected as SYSDBA:
EXECUTE dbms_stats.gather_dictionary_stats;
Oracle recommends reviewing any defined events prior to upgrading.
To view existing non-default events execute the following commands
while connected AS SYSDBA:
Events:
SELECT (translate(value,chr(13)||chr(10),' ')) FROM sys.v$parameter2
WHERE UPPER(name) ='EVENT' AND isdefault='FALSE'
Trace Events:
SELECT (translate(value,chr(13)||chr(10),' ')) from sys.v$parameter2
WHERE UPPER(name) = '_TRACE_EVENTS' AND isdefault='FALSE'
Changes will need to be made in the init.ora or spfile.

Objects for RSRV Check Post Upgrade
Hi,
Could be a Trivial Question for some - Nevertheless.....
What would be an Exhaustive list of various types of Objects to be tested for Consistency using RSRV post Upgrade ?
Please throw some "Expert" Light ...
Regards
ShwetaIn our case we apply upgrades to Sand Box.
We created few reports and prepared test script before and after upgrade.
We prepared our own document.
But this is what the guideline we did.

EHP5 post installation activity
Dear All,
We have upgraded our DEV server to EHP5, but we have following queries. We are using SUSE Linux 11 and DB2 9.1 data base.
In system -> Status - > SAP system data -> component version "SAP ECC 6.0"
System Component Information -> EA-APPL = 605, SAP-APPL = 605, EA-HR* = 605 etc
1. Is there any procedure to validate our installation is complete and doesn't require any more changes, during installation we didn't give any transport request? post intallation activity, if required.
2. We are facing following issues in DBACockpit transaction, what is the solution to remove these errors?
Space -> virtual tables
@5D\QYellow LED; caution@ DEV Last data collector run is older than 14 days
@8O\QError message@ DEV SQL0204N "SAPTOOLS.DBH_STG_TABLE" is an undefined name.
SQLSTATE=42704
Configuration -> parameter check
@5C\QRed LED; stop; errors@ DEV Error when reading SAP Note 0001334923: Return code = 1. mentioned note is not understandable.
3. During Pre processing phase installer recommended some manual changes in database, some tablespaces were manually created i.e. DEV#EL702D, DEV#EL702I, DEV#ES702D, DEV#ES702I. Do we need to drop these tablespaces or keep it as it is?Hi,

This is correct. Even if system it upgraded to EHP4/EHP5, it will show you as ECC 6.0. You can confirm this by seeing version of the component. For a system to be called on EHP5, SAP_APPL and EA-APPL must be on EHP5. And additionally if you have installed any other usage type, you can also check its version to EHP5.

For this, you can refer to SAP note 1554750.

No, these are new containers of 702 release. You cannot drop it.
