Rate Routings Partial Costing
Need the help of this forum please. We are a discreet manufacturing firm with specific operations for our products. In many cases, we will perform an operation only a portion of the time, say 10% or 15%. I'm trying to find a way to have the cost of these operations represented in the standard cost based on their prorated frequency. I thought cost relevency was the ticket, but that didn't work, and in searching this forum for solutions, determined it truly was not the answer.
is the answer in the control key for the operation? At present, the control keys we have available are either cost yes, or cost no. In other words, cost at 100% , or cost at 0%. Do I need to have a custom control key created? If this isn't the proper approach, then is there another?
Thanks,
Roy
only 10 % will go through operation 5, that means, the time taken to test 10 PC is say 10 hrs. While you confirm the qty of 100, enter the time as 10 hrs instead of 100 hrs, so that you are confirming the correct hrs and then the cost.
Or build the formula as below
You need to have a correct formula in WC. i.e. how the cost is calulated. in nromal way-->
(operation qty* hr/base qty)* USD / hr.
Now you need to have a new variable in the std value to indicate the %.
Hence your costing formula will include the new varibale to calculate the %, i,e new varibale.
Hence new formula is ((operation qty* hr/base qty)* USD / hr.)* new variable)/100.
Hence the cost will get booked accordinly.
Or you can use fornula constants if the qty is always constant irrespective of production qty, and include this in the fcosting formula.
Please try the above and come back

Does Transfer Invoice Price Variance pro-rate for partial quantity ?
We were planning on using Transfer Invoice Price Variance to Inventory but unfortunately, we find when there's an IPV for quantity that's partly issued - the variance is not pro-rated but entirely applied to the remaining quantity.
Just wondering if this is desired functionality and if so, could we use SLA to ask the program to pro-rate the variance and for partial quantity, apply the pro-rated amount to the quantity remaining and the rest to the Cost Variance account.
Thanks,
SanjibTIPV to Inventory doesn't pro-rate for partial quantity.
It transfers the entire IPV to the remaining quantity. -
How can I enter "Flate rates for travel costs" with more than 2 decimals?
Hi expert,
I want to enter flat rates for travel costs in table T706F.
I have a figure with more than 2 decimals (0,066), but I cannot save it, because only 2 decimals are allowed for EUR.
I don't want to change the decimals for this currency.
I found OSS note 446116 which is release independent. It is a note of 30.10.2001.
It suggests to create a new currency e.g. EUR3 and enter translation ratio's and exchange rates.
This seems pretty drastic.
Do you know if there is another way to handle this issue?
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Linda VerdingHello Christian,
I have checked it with consultants from SAP Brussels.
They confirm that OSS note 446116 can be used to create flat rates for travel costs with more than 2 decimals.
I will create a new currency (EUR3) with the description "for travel expenses only".
Kind regards,
Linda Verding -
Define Flat Rate for Travel Cost based on location (Maximum points awarded)
Hello,
SPRO>Financial Accounting>Travel Management>Travel Expenses>Trip Reimbursement Amount>Reimbursement Amount Travel Costs>Define Flat rates for Travel Costs, in this path we can enter the reimbursement amount for trip country/ trip region. I created different reimbursement amounts for different locations(additional locations/regions can be created in table T702o for country US) for USA but in expense report its taking only default amount (0.36) that is already there for Country:US not the amount i gave (0.27) for different location even when I gave the location name in the expense report. Could anyone tell me what i am missing. Do i have create corresponding WT for these expense types based on location.
Thanks,

Differences between rate routing and reference rate routings?
Hello PP members:
I would like to differences between rate routing and reference rate routings
Thanks for your time,
Thanks Again,
Suren RHi Mr.Suren,
As explained by other friends Routing is used in Discrete manufacturing and Rate routing is used for REM-Repetitive manufacturing.
In addional to these types SAP has given 2 more types
1.Reference operation set -Used in Discrete manufacturing.
2.Reference rate routing - Used in REM.
If similar rate routing is been used for producing many materials, then instead of entering(these steps) in rate routing of each material you create a refrence rate routing and you enter the work centres used and the other details. After saving you get a group counter number showing reference rate routing is saved with group XXXXXXXXX.
When you are creating rate routing for a material say A ,after giving the name and plant details in the top you will be able to see an icon "copy from" and you can select the radio button for reference rate routing and give the group counter number. or else without giving it here you have got an option to select the reference rate routing after entering into the operation screen also.
In that particular page in operation overview screen, there will be an icon copy, there you can click that icon and you can give the reference rate routing group counter number and very easily you can create rate routing for N number of material.
Likewise you can use reference operation set while creating routing for a material in Discrete manufacturing. This basically reduces the time in creating routing or rate routing for materials in Discrete & REM respectively
CA01,CA02,CA03-Create,Change,display (routing) respectively.
CA11,CA12,CA13-Create,Change,Display reference operation set Respectively.
CA21,CA22,CA23-Create,Change,Display rate routing respectively.
CA31,CA32,CA33-create,change,display reference rate routing resp.
I hope this will help you.
If useful reward your points.
Thanks & regards

Standard Routings and Rate Routings
Dear guru.
Whose are the difference between Standard Routings and Rate Routings ?
Thanks.Hi,
Ca01 is std Routing
CA21 is Rate Routing
The routing lists the operations needed to manufacture a product.
The rate routing is used in repetitive manufacturing. Repetitive
manufacturing normally produces in one comparative stable production line,
and has normally only one production operation.
With a routing, the base quantity is normally constant and the times
(such as the processing time) are determined through the standard values.
With the rate routing, however, it is the other way around.
The production quantities are maintained separately for each article,
and the time is constant. In a rate routing, therefore, you can specify
what quantity of an article is manufactured in a given time using a
production rate.
The functions of rate routings and routings are otherwise the same as those of normal routings -
Automation for actual input of utility rate in Production Cost centers
Dear All,
Currently we have a process where we are downloading actual rates through KSII for each location and rates calculated are inputed through KBK6 for all individual production cost centers by activities ,so my requirement is whether there is any procedure where downloading and uploading can be eliminated and actual rates calculated by system directly loads on to the production cost centers.
Kindly provide any suggestions
Thanks and Regards
vijayHi,
If u run KSII, system will give a message "Do you want to post the results of price calculation?" if u click on YES , it will automatically update in your KBK6. Pl. Check once.

Resource Rate Information for Costing
In the MS TN article for best practices for submitting and reporting on actual work (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh694531%28v=office.14%29.aspx), the recommended best practice is to report directly against the actual work captured in timesheets.
The problem with this is the timesheet tables do not have resource cost/rate information. From what we've seen in other TN articles, resource rate table doesn't exist in the reporting database? How then is it possible to base reporting on actual work from
the timesheet?
According to MS, it's easy... "While many calculations are made in a project plan, such as cost based on cost rates, these can be easily replicated with timesheet data"
We could get actual work in the assignments tables, but the actual hours are then changed by EVA calculations and therefore won't match weekly or monthly invoices for receiving.
What are our options?Indeed you're right.
As far as I remember, the publish DB has the MSP_RESOURCES table which contains a RES_RATE_TABLE column with the rate table UID. Then you'll have to dig into the publish DB to find where is located the rate tables since I don't remember.
Hope this helps,

04.2006 hence it resulting in picking wrong exchange rate.Any solution to solve it and what is the cause of this issue? Thank Youhie, the currency is set in the table TCURR. the time rederence ? sorry,I am very new to this.the user just told me to that the currency for actual cost taken wrongly, all i managed to check is tat the value date for currency translation for tat particular actual cost document is 01.04.2006,tat's y it took the wrong exchange rate. And i guess the exchange rate is already updated in BW.

Raouting, Rate Routing and Cost run Problem
We have changed the our process from routing to rate routing.
But while doing the cost run - CK40N, the sytem is considering the routing in stead of rate routing.
Please advice.
Regards
PranavDear Pranav,
1.Check what selection ID has been assigned in the quantity structure control tab(for the costing variant that is used for costing in
CK40N) for routing selection,If it's 01 means, then check with selection ID 02 where the first priority is assigned for routing type R.
(In standard SAP selection ID 01 by default has first priority to routing - N and then further prirority to rate routing - type - R).So
assuming selection ID 01 is assigned and a product has both routing(task list type - N) and rate routing(task list type - R),now at
the time of costing the system picks up the routing by default as the first priority is set for routing.
2.Also check whether the task list type and the corresponding group and group counter has been changed in the production
version for inhouse manufactured product either in MM02-->MRP4 view or else in C223.
Check and revert back with your further queries.

Exchange rate type in costing run.
Hi all,
In costing run, we use price from customer info record.
Info record is in USD and material is in CAD (Canadian dollar).
During costing run, all the materials are taking exchange rate 'P'. This is correct (as 'P' is maintained in controlling area version)
But for one material alone exchange rate 'M' is being picked up.
Could you please share if you have any idea as to where to check and where the problem could have been.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
DSKHI,
Whats the CO-area currency type? I guess for the case you've mentioned there is no currency conversion possible with ex rate type "P", so ex. rate type "M" is taken as a 2nd best option.
To check if converison is possible use SE37, function module "convert_to_local_currency", use the "test" button (F8) and key in the data required for currency conversion (type of rate "P").

Freight Rates and Shipping Cost in TPVS
Freight costing occurs in LES transportation planning system and contains freight rates, agreements etc. Is the final cost based on pricing procedures and condition techniques? I would assume shipments are communicated via IDOC structure of freight document?
Many thanks.
MichaelThe final cost is based on the pricing procedure and condition techniques.

Calculate Multiple Activity Rates in One Cost Center
Hi Everyone,
We currently have many cost centers allocating expenses (through assessment KSUB) into a few cost centers that calculate activity prices. Furthermore, the cost centers that calculate the rates have a few rates to calculate. So, can anyone tell me how to have the receiving cost center that would calculate 3 separate activity prices based upon secondary cost elements? I understand that when posting primary plan expenses in KP06, you can specify the activity type and cost element combination so that a rate can be calculated based on specific cost elements, but how is that performed on secondary cost elements allocated into a cost center?
Thanks,
PeteThe budgets will be planned on the cost centers using KP06. You dont need any activty here. After doing all the budgets, you will do your assesments making all the postings. Then you will plan you activites on cost centers using KP26. This is planning of activity quantities not the dollar value. So now you have the budget and the activity quantities in the cost cenetrs. You will run the activity price calculation using KSPI in which each costcenter with the activity will divde the budget with quantities and will caluculate the rate per unit. This will be you activity prices. The role of secondary cost element here is it is associtate with activity and this is the link for cost center and activity. So the activity price will assosicated with secondary cost element. When you make any posting with these activites the posintgs will be booked against these activities.
