"Temp Fail" with BLF Speed Dial + Call Pickup

Good day All,
I am running CUCM version 8.6.2 and many IP Phones 7962G.
I have a Manager configured with extension 1001 and his PA with extension 1002. Both extensions are configured in the same Call Pickup Group.
On the PA IP Phone, the second button is configured as a BLF Speed Dial with Call Pickup for the Manager.
When someone calls the Manager, she can see that the Manager Line is ringing but when she press the button in order to pick up that calls, she hear a busy tone and the IP Phone display a message that says "Temp Fail". I have checked every thing on both IP Phones and all seems to be correct. Am I missing something may be?
When I changed the Manager Line from 1001 to 1003, in the same Call Pickup Group, thats works fine. She is able to pick up calls for 1003. But on the CUCM Server, there is no such difference between extension 1001 and 1003.
Please advise.
Warm regards,
J. Kabundi.

Which PickUp group they belong doesn't matter, don't need to be the same for the BLF PickUp Feature.
But if they are in the same group as you mentioned: Can the pickup via the normal PickUp Softkey?
If changing only the Number makes it working i think you may have a problem with the DNs/Partitions. Ever renamed the partition? Try deleting the manager DN, remove the unassigned number from your server, and add it again.
If it still doesn't work... i would restart the whole server if possible.
Regards,
Sven

    Hi
We have a setup for a customer who has few 8961 phones and for some reason, the BLF SD stops working after working for few days.
The last time I raised a TAC SR and was advised to reload the router and everything came back to normal for few days.
Any ideas what is that I am missing?

What OS/DB combination are you on?  We are seeing something similar on NW 7.0/CRM 2007 on windows 2003/oracle, where the work process dies in similar fashion but an error 050.

  • Speed dial with separate CSS from primary line

    Hello All,
I have a question about the possibility of using speed dials on a phone in a somewhat restricted sense. What I would like to do is setup a phone with a primary line that is only capable of making internal calls within our organization, and set a few speed dials that can call outside in the local area code for on-call techs. From what I see speed dials can't be set to a specific CSS, which leads me to believe that phone will just use the CSS of the primary line when making speed dial calls.
The question is, is this possible without messing around with custom CSS's and route patterns?

No, as you have seen, they will use the CSS from the configured DN to make the call, they cannot be configured with a separate CSS

  • CME 10 cannot attended transfer with BLF button

    Good morning!
I'm having an issue with a client's CME in which they can no longer do an attended transfer using BLF speed dial buttons.  Yesterday morning, their CME router was rebooted for unrelated reasons.  Prior to this reboot, attended transfers could be done using BLF buttons but NOT by dialing the number.  After the reboot this has reversed so you can do an attended transfer when you dial but if you hit the BLF button it automatically performs a blind transfer.
The client has stated that if they have to have one or the other they'd like it to go back to the way it was working prior to yesterday morning as the receptionist has everyone in the organization on BLF buttons on a side car and most transfers need to be attended rather than blind.  I have tested with other phones and confirmed its organization wide and not just on his phone.

  • E65 Speed dial problem

Just got a new E65 after dumping my i-mate SP5 Windows Mobile device. I seem to have a bug/problem with the speed dial functionality. The speed dials work fine when using the kepad long press method, but if I select from the on screen application I just get "Invalid phone number". Can anyone help

I managed to resolve this myself throguh trial and error. It seems that the speed dial application doesn't like spaces and brackets in the phone number (as often happens when the number is first entered in Outlook for example), whilst the long key press method doesn't care about this sort of number punctuation. Using +country-code doesn't seem to be a problem in either mode. So I just edited my stored numbers and it works fine.
Also note that the same problem exists with the number used for conference calls, and using the hot key for conference call dialing.

  • Call Pickup within a Hunt Group CallManager 5.1

I have a customer where we have several hunt groups configured. We also have Pickup Groups configured for each of these areas so that anyone within that group of users can pickup a call ringing on another phone. If someone dials a number directly that is within the pickup group, the call can be picked up from another phone in that group. However, if someone dials the hunt group number, other people within the pickup group cannot pickup the call and have to wait until the hunt works its way around to them. The DNs in the Pickup Group are the same as the DNs in the Hunt Group.
What I want to know is "should this work?". I think I understand why it isn't working, as the dialled number is not a number within the pickup group, as it's a hunt pilot, but is there any way of getting this to work?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    regards
    Mark.

    Hi Mark,
    You are hitting this bug CSCsb12946 which prevents this feature from working. For various CCM versions there was this workaround but supposedly not for CCM 5.1 (see Fixed-In versions);
Set enterprise parameter (System->Enterprise Parameters->Cisco Support Use 1) Cisco Support Use 1 to CSCsb42763 (case sensitive)
This operation added listbox (Route Plan->Route/Hunt->Hunt Pilot->hunt pilot XXXX -> Call Pickup Group) Call Pickup Group.
    From this doc;
    http://www.ciscotaccc.com/kaidara-advisor/voice/showcase?case=K11612191
    1.- Enter
CSCsb42763 (in mixed case) in the Enterprise Parameter 'Cisco Support
Use 1' under the new group 'Cisco Support use Only' and click update. Only the value
CSCsb42763 in this parameter can enable the configuration. Change the
value to anything else to disable this functionality.
    2. Go to Hunt Pilot Configuration page and select a call pickup group from the Call
Pickup Group dropdown list and click update.

  • Steps to Configure Speed Dial

    Hello,
Need steps to configure speed dial.
    Thanks
    Abhishek

    Hello,
Go to the phone / UDP configuration page and check the Phone Button Template and check whether you have enough lines available to configure as speed dials. If not create a new Phone button template with sufficient speed dial lines and assosiate the newlt created Phone Button Template to your phone /  UDP configuration page. Clikc the link Add/Update Speed Dials on the same page and update the speed dial with the requested entries with the Label asthe Speed dial Label and the Number as the number where the speed dial shld reach.
The UDP profiles has to log out and login back for the changes to take effect.
    Hope this helps..
Please let me know whether this was infromative or not.
    Thanks

  • Speed Dial and Abbreviated Dial

I have to configure 40 phones with 100 Speed dial/Abbre. numbers. Is there anyways I can configure one phone with these numbers and have this phone publish these  to other 39 phones?
OR is there a easy way of doing this task?
I am using CCM 9.x and Cisco 7821 SIP phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
You could configure one phone, and then export the phone config (using BAT import/export functions) then edit the output file to copy the speed dials to the other phones.
On 10.5 you can associate all the phones to one user, and the User Portal allows you to link the phones together so the speed dials are synced. Just found this the other day, but it's not much use to you just now!

  • Cisco UCM Call Pickup

We recently migrated our old phone system to Cisco IP Telephony and just getting used to UCM.  Don't know if this is the correct place to ask, but here is my question to ask.  I have two users that are in a call pickup group.  (Secretary and Director)  The secretary wants to be able to pickup the Directors line if she's not available, but the Director does not want to receive any calls from the Secretary.  The director has no means of answering the main line for any reason and kind of have a conflict with doing this thru call pickup.  How can I accomplish this?  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

The easiest way to give the secretary the ability to answer the director's calls is to add the director's DN to the secretary's phone.  This will allow incoming calls to the director's phone  to ring at the secretary's phone simultaneously.  Secretary can answer the director's calls and see if the director is on the phone or not.
I hope I understood your question correctly.
"The secretary wants to be able to pickup the Directors line if she's not available, but the Director does not want to receive any calls from the Secretary."

  • Dialling from 7960 - speed dial works, manual dial fails

Hi, i've got an issue on a dialling a particular number from 7960 phones. When i dial a speed dial setup with the number 9121000 i hit the correct route pattern and the the 9 is stripped and an external call is placed to 121000 through my gateway.
if i dial 9121000 manually the call fails, and the 7960 display looks like its attempting to the 4 digit internal number 1210
I can't work out why this would work differently through speed dial and manual dial - any ideas?
thanks in advance for any hints

This is because you have overlapping pattern i.e. TP or RP, DN extension, etc with urgent priority set on it.  Locate it and disable urgent priority.

  • CUCM 4.3 using BLF and Speed Dials features.

    Hello,
Does anyone has some informations about if BLF and Speed Dials work with CUCM 4.3
We have tested it using 6.1 and it works
We have the needing to use both features Speed Dials ( and not Call Park ) and BLF.
    Thanx in advance
    Marco

    Hi Marco,
Sadly, support for BLF/Speeddials was not added until CCM 5.x so these features are not supported in CCM 4.3
    Hope this helps!

  • Jabber call to voice mail fails with fast busy over VPN

I have an issue that I ran into with CIPC phones over a VPN.  If a CIPC phone called over a VPN and started ringing a phone the call would fail with fast busy at the time the call would be forwarded to voicemail.  I found the issue was when remote the CIPC phone would negotiate the g.729 codec, when forwarded to a voicemail pilot over a SIP trunk set to g.711 the call would fail due to codec missmatch when no transcoders are present.
So now I am running into what I believe to be the same issue with Jabber, when on premise the calls to voice mail work just fine, but when remote they fail.  I can directly call the voicemail pilot without error, but if calling a phone the call gets fast busy at the point we are forwarded to voicemail.  Even though all my regions are set to talk to all other regions on G.711 and the voicemail SIP trunk is set to G.711, I believe with the new features in CUCM9 that a lower speed codec has been negotiated since the we are going over the VPN, or Jabber has done this as it knows it's over VPN (not sure).  WIth CIPC I could go into the settings and turn off the Optimize for Bandwidth check box and the call would negotiate G.711.  With Jabber I can't find anything that would tell my Jabber client to stay on G.711 and I can only imagine this is a codec missmatch as the following are true.
    1. CIPC and Jabber share the same line
    2. VPN established and CIPC optimised for low bandwidth un-checked
    3. Over the same VPN the CIPC phone can leave a voicemail
    4. Over the same VPN the Jabber client gets fast busy once forwarded to voicemail
    5. Voicemail environment is Exchange-UM over SIP trunk
    6. SIP trunk is assigned a Device Pool, that is assigned to a region that all other regions communicate G.711 to
    7. On CIPC if optimised for low bandwidth is checked I get the exact same issue as I get with the Jabber client (fast busy when forwarded to voicemail)
Would anyone know what I can do in CUCM 9 to fix this issue, as said no issue when all devices are on premise.  Wondering if there is a service parameter or a way to change the codec selection so the Jabber client attempts to always negotiate G.711.  The correct answer would be to get some PVDM DSP resources and kick up a transcoder in my resource group, and that may be what I talk them into doing if I have no other options.

We have been getting the exact same thing for almost a year now... since switching to FiOS Digital Voice in May of last year!  Every time I call in to report it they 'escalate' the issue but it never gets resolved.  The problem seems to be in the initial connection.  Most of the time it works fine but, several times a month, after I call to get messages and it starts to play the new message it goes dead and I get the busy signal.  I get the same message when I call back:  “I’m sorry – that account is in use at this time.  Please try again later!”  I have even called in with my cell phone and get the same message!  I HAVE EVEN used the Internet to see if I could get my messages and, when I hit Play, I get a pop-up saying: “Your Voice Mail box is currently in being accessed; please try again later.  If the problem continues, please contact our Customer Support Center at 1-888-553-1555. We apologize for any inconvenience.”  This is obviously a software bug that Verizon has no clue on how to troubleshoot OR fix!!!  I wonder how many people have the problem and just don’t bother reporting it because of the hassle?  When it first started happening they destroyed my entire mailbox and I had to re-enter the complete mailbox setup again – 3 times!!!  NEVER let them talk you into that!!!  It’s their problem and they need to fix it!!!!!!!  I wish I could go back to the ‘normal’ voicemail we originally had… they want hundred$ to switch back because I’d be breaking my #$@%^&* contract!  Good luck if you have Verizon………
