Refund on apps

Hi. i have bought a brand new iPad mini with Retina and i very much liking it after having Android tablets in the past.
My query is regarding refunds on apps. Is there a system or way that if for some reason the app is not working properly (even though it does say it is compatible with an iPad) or has crahsed multiple times do i need to contact Apple or the developer itself?
And how many days will i receive a possible refund?
Pls advice. Thanks.

You've tried deleting and redownloading them and seeing if they then work and tried contacting the developers ? If you have and they can't/won't help then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

  • HT4009 Refunding an App Store purchase

    Refunding of App Purchase:
I have been using an application on my iPhone called "Keeper Security" for several months with no problems.
Today while using the application I got a pop up IN the application telling me I was "unprotected" and that I needed to "upgrade" the account to stay protected.
The application stated that I would be able to "backup" my account and password lists stored IN the application to my computer for backup if I "upgraded."
The "upgrade" was $9.99 [and turns out PER YEAR].  I "upgraded" the application VIA the application itself and was charged the $9.99.
I went to the SYNC options and it told me that I needed to download the desktop software to make the SYNC possible.
I proceed to the Security Keeper website and pick my Mac OS and download the software.
I then install the Security Keeper desktop application, launch my iPhone Security Keeper application and attempt to SYNC my data.
The desktop application THEN tellms me that the iPhone is "NOT AUTHORIZED" to SYNC and that I need to BUY an ADDITIONAL License.
The ADDITIONAL License is ANOTHER $9.99 a YEAR.
So be simply be able to SYNC the data on the iPhone app to my desktop they are telling me I need 2 Licenses at $9.99 EACH per YEAR - thats $20 a year to simply SYNC my data on MY OWN DEVICES.
This is a RUSE and a pathetic MONEY GRAB from the Security Keeper company.  I was misinformed and misled into buying the app based on lies of things it would supposedly do when in fact it does NONE of what it states and ONLY does what it says when you BUY MORE products and services from them.
I DO NOT want the application on EITHER device now - I will find a more suitable option for my needs.
Once I found all this out, of course AFTER I PAID the money to them, I immediately contacted the company support team who told me they CANNOT refund anything at all - that I need to contact ANOTHER company who does NOT respond.
I need to know how I can get a REFUND from Apple [iTunes or the App Store] for that application purchase and the purchase amount of $9.99.
I have been with Apple for years and have bought and downloaded hundreds of applications and have NEVER experienced anything like this - EVER.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

  • TS1702 Refund on Apps.

Has the refund on apps changed.  I ask this as I have got a far as report a problem via iTunes.  Following iTunes>Store>View Account>Purchase History>View All>Report A Problem> This now takes you to Apple Support where you have even more options that lead you these boards.   A
When I last requested a refund on an App that did not live up to standards I found the whole thing very simple.  Has Apple just made the complete process condusing?
    Sean

Demo, You very wrong there.  in the UK your protected by laws governing the sale of goods.  If you can prove an App does not do as it says then you are entitled to a refund.
I have requested a refund by calling Apple Support and they have now told me it is done through "Express" Lane. This is not an "Express" method of getting a refund on an App that does not do as it says.
Its slow, too many clicks and not accessed from iTunes.  If I had to go through the same process to purchase an App, I would not bother.  I am a big fan of all things Apple, they should be valuing any purchases and have a clear refund policy on the Apps that fail.
I wrote the following to Apple's Support Team:
I am trying to get a refund on these two apps that I have mentioned.  This process has tainted my view of Apple and the way you work.
Up until two hours ago I adored Apple and its products.  The ease of use, the simple design and how they stand out from the crowd.  This process of getting refund has become so long and click hungry.
When I first completed a refund it was all done in the iTunes store.  It was simple, click purchase history and report a problem.  Refund was an option.
I am annoyed at how Apple have changed this user experience and then have the hard face to say it's "Express" lane.  There is no part of this refund process that would make it "Express"!  If this was within the first 7 days of starting my contract on my  iPhone, I would return it back to my telephone service provider.
I defend and and sing Apple's praises.  I think this process is nothing far of disgraceful.  What happened to SIMPLIFY - SIMPLIFY - SIMPLIFY.
Ask your self this, if a customer had to go the the same amount of bother to purchase and App as what we do to get a rotten refund, would you sell any Apps?
I feel I have been treated badly by these changes and it is not an Apple experience, I would expect this with any other firm but Apple.
Apple need to look at what people are asking online.  Search Google "App Store Refund Apple" there you will find pages of forums asking how to get a refund.
I will be using a card with just £1 on it until this process is made simple and can be done through iTunes like it could before.
I am starting to wonder if this is the beginning of the magic fading.  The question is, do Apple need Steve Jobs?  The man will be spinning in his grave at the complicated method of getting a refund.
I hope you take my views onboard and go and read these online forums I have mentioned.  I am looking at getting a new MacBook Pro, I will need to ensure the refund process is as simple as the purchase process.

  • How to get a refund for app store purchases after 90 days

Is it possible to recieve a refund for App store purchases after 90 days have passed. In my case I purchased several apps by the same developer which cost around £10 in total, but due to a recent update they are now unusable and lead to frustration as they are impossible to use. The initial purchase was longer than 90 days ago, however the most recent update that has lead to the faulty item was probably within the last 90 days.
    many thanks.

Click Contact Us at the bottom of this page and contact iTunes support and ask.
In general, all sales are final.

How do I refund my apps when I never got an email for my recite?

Why are looking for a refund ? Unless an app isn't working as described then purchases are considered final.
If an app isn't working then have you tried deleting it and redownloading it via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your phone, and/or contacted the developer ? If you have and not had a reply then try the 'report a problem' link to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

  • If I refund an app, am I still able to get updates for it?

Even though I refunded the app, I am still able to launch and play it.

Why were you given a refund? If you made claims that the app was defective, then to continue to use it would be dishonest.

  • Frustration! Refund for apps that don't do what they are supposed to?

How quickly a $2 app turns into a $50 waste of time!
I purchased a $2 unit converter app to use at work and whenever else I needed it. After playing with it for about 20-30 minutes, I realized that there were several calculation errors. The unit converter simply didn't do correct conversions! (1 foot equals 11.986 inches!?) Now, If I'm noticing some simple conversion errors myself, how many conversion errors are happening that I don't realize? Needless to say, this app is useless to me because I can't trust its data.
So I contacted the dev, and even got a response within a day. I sent a second message where I had done a lot of troubleshooting for them, hoping they could correct the problems. Nothing. No update, no response, nothing.
So this brings me to my question... how can you get a refund for an app that doesn't do what it is supposed to do?
Yes, yes, I realize the "all sales are final" thing. But this is where Apple's usual high level of customer service fails. Am I supposed to buy apps on blind faith that they work, knowing there is no refund? If I was assured that someone was testing these apps and assuring me that they do what they are supposed to, then okay. But that's not happening.
Oh, wait... read reviews before buying? How is that possible for new(er) apps? If nobody buys it because they are waiting for reviews, then nobody can review it. I'd hate to be a dev and make a great app and have nobody buy it because they were afraid it wouldn't work.
Not all apps have free/lite/trial versions.
If this "no refund" policy is to be fair, then there needs to be demo or trial periods on all apps, to be certain that they actually do what they are supposed to! Until then, I want my $2 back so I can buy a unit converter that doesn't have calculation errors. I won't hold my breath for that... or for the ~$50 of my time wasted testing someone else’s app to no avail, and trying to find a contact source for Apple to request a refund.

I do see where you are coming from.
However I'm just personally against people buying something with the intent of taking it back and that's what would worry me here. I'm talking about girls I know who buy 4 dresses to take home and try out (and perhaps wear) and then take some or all of them back. Now that's one way to shop but I don't agree with it as I think it makes it more expensive for the rest of us as there is a cost involved in customer service and repackaging returned items. Note that is an example and I don't particularly care about buying dresses myself - except on Fridays when I log on as BettyDP
And you mention you only want this for broken apps (i.e. ones that fail to deliver what the are for), rather than apps you bought and decided you didn't like/need. But this is a fine line and some people would use such a system to try to claim money back on an app they bought and thought wasn't that good, even if it did what it said. So who's to judge where that line is? And to have Apple employing people to make that call would push up the cost to all the apps.
Now you genuinely have an issue with this particular app and, in my opinion, deserve your money back. However if you buy 100s of apps and end up wanting your money back on a large proportion of them then I do not agree with you, for the above reasons. When spending money, in my opinion, you should do your research and read reviews to make sure it suits. Sometimes, for a new app, you can't do as much in which case you either take a risk or hope you can get your money back if it doesn't suit. Yes, an item sold should do what it says to meet basic trading standards (and otherwise it's basically fraud), but, IMHO, there should also be a level of caveat emptor (buyer beware).
Ultimately, for $2, I personally would probably chalk it up to experience and not try to reclaim it - thinking that the time spent trying to claim it back would be more hassle than it's worth. But then maybe that's just me.
Now your demo point is a good one. Some app developers make a demo or lite version of their app to give you a free preview. That's their choice and not something Apple enforces and they think the extra coding to make this version is worth it in that it hopefully will drive up more sales. I agree it would be nice if Apple put some funky time limit on ALL apps so developers don't have to do this, and so you get it for free for 24hours to trial. It would certainly help in your situation and I myself would also find this useful.
Finally the time you spent debugging the app is your time. You didn't need to do that and I don't think that's really that relevant here (I presume you aren't expecting to get you $2 back AND some extra because you spent some time fiddling with it?)
Anyway, now I've made my opinion known (which you are perfectly entitled to disagree with), I'll get off my high horse and actually point you out to something helpful:

(note I did read your comment about this form not working but I'd say try it again later or on another browser).
Also note the interesting comments on this link which give more reasons (from a Developers point of view) why this is possibly a bad idea...

No you cannot ! Also when buy any  application from  App World we are paying to the vendor of that particular Application not RIM.
