UCCX to PCCE upgrade

Hi all ,
Is there any upgrade path from UCCX 9.0 to PCCE ? Because one of our customers (Telecom service providers) are looking for a contact centre with minimum options and later upgarde to a fully fledged system with minimum cost ,
Please advice whether UCCX is upgardable to PCCE  down the line ,
Thanks
Purna

I found a interesting article about PCCUE: http://stcblog.com/2012/05/21/cisco-pcce-but-what-about-business-process-optimimization/

  • CUCM / UCCX / AQM / WFM Upgrade

    Hi all,
We are getting ready to upgrade a customer's voice system and I've think I may have just hit a snag. Any advice would be very much appreciated
As we are both upgrading to the latest current version and migrating to a virtual environment we had planned on taking a staged approach to minimise impact on the environment. ie Upgrade CUCM, wait a few days to let the dust settle, then upgrade UCCX / AQM / WFM. However, from the AQM release notes it looks as though the CUCM version we are moving to (8.6) requires AQM 8.5(2) or later to function. Does this mean I need to  upgrade AQM at the same time as CUCM?
Also, it says that AQM 8.5(2) supports UCCX 8.5(1) or later. The customer is currently running 8.0(2). I'm concerned that if I upgrade AQM to keep in line with CUCM I'm going to break compatibility with UCCX until I upgrade that too :/
Am I going to need to cut the entire system over in one scary, foul swoop to keep everything from breaking?
Again, any advice will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jason

At the end of the day you need to follow the documentation for version compatibility requirements; none of us would be foolish enough to suggest otherwise. Having said that, have you considered upgrading CUCM last instead of first? CCX 8.5(1)SU3 supports several CUCM 8.0 builds. You could upgrade CCX, AQM and WFM on a weekend, wait a few days and then uprade CUCM.

  • UCCX and CUCM Upgrade

Hi All - We are planning to go for CUCM direct upgrade from 7.1.3 - 9.1.2
    Also for UCCX from 7.0.1 SR5 ---> 8.5.1 --> 8.5.1 SU3 --> 9.0.2
During upgarde of UCCX 8.5.1 on UCS Machine it will ask to eneter CUCM AXL user Credentails which is in 9.1.2, So we need to know is that correct way by doing so since UCCX is 8.5.1 and CUCM 9.1.2
Also i checked few PDF'S where i can get below info.
These Unified CM versions are supported - 8.0(1), 8.0(2) and all SUs, 8.5(1) and all SUs, and Unified CM 8.6.2.22033 and later.
Does it mean CUCM 9.1.2 is compatible with UCCX 8.5.1 and 8.5.1 SU3.

Refer to this document for all CCX compatibility details including which version you can upgrade from:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_compatibility/matrix/crscomtx.pdf
CUCM 9.1.2 is compatible with CCX 8.5SU4 for example.
Also, you can upgrade to CCX 9.0.2 directly from 7.0.2ES3.

  • UCCX After CUCM Upgrade

    Hi All
I am running UCCX 8.5.1.11004-25 and upgrading to CUCM 8.6.2.23900. I have completed several CUCM upgrades with various dependencies but never with UCCX as a dependency. I have checked the compatibility matrix and this all seems fine however i cant find any information on if anything needs to be done to UCCX once i switch versions on CUCM.
Im suspecting that i will need to run a JTAPI re-sync which will download a new JTAPI if it finds a different version ? Is this correct and also is there anything else i need to be watching out for ?
    Thanks, Carl Ratcliffe

Thanks Tanner, quick reply and confirmed what i thought, just didnt want to get caught out at 2 in the morning with something i have missed.
    Thanks, Carl

  • UCCX and WFO upgrade

    Hi all,
I need to perform an upgrade for a client of UCCX 7 with Workforce Optimization to the latest and greatest, but I'm having trouble determining exactly what I need to order from the Product Upgrade Tool. Especially with the QM component, as they are running v2.7 and all of the upgrade options listed are either 5,6,7 or 8.
Any help would be most appreciated.
    Cheers,

  • UCCX 10.5 upgrade to 10.6

    Hi,
I have installed UCCX 10.5 using ova 10.5
Now I need to upgrade to 10.6 and there is ova for 10.6
Correct me if I'm wrong or advise for easier steps
I'll upgrade existing to 10.6 then get backup. then re-build VM using ova 10.6 then install 10.5 and use upgrade patch while installation then restore after installation ?
    Regards
    Haitham

No need to rebuild anything, simply perform the in place upgrade and adjust the virtual machine setting to what the new version requires if any, i.e. adjust vCPU count, RAM, Linux Enterprise version.

  • UCCX 8.5 Upgrade SU3

Just after a bit of advice.
In an HA cluster, which of these is the correct method:
    Upgrade Publisher
    Switch version
    Upgrade Subscriber
    Switch version
    or
    Upgrade Publisher
    Upgrade Subscriber
    Switch version on Publisher
    Switch version on Subscriber
Also once both are upgraded, the guide suggests running "utils uccx dbreplication repair all".
It seems to suggest running this regardless of any replication errors or not. Anyone have any thoughts?
Is this command only run on the Publisher?

    Hi,
In a High Availability (HA) Deployment:
In case of a High Availability setup, initiate the switch-version process through Cisco Unified Operating System Administration web interface or CLI after completing the software upgrade installation on both the publisher and subscriber nodes, with publisher being the first, followed by the subscriber node. To identify whether the switch-version is successful, follow the steps mentioned below after triggering the switch-version process. The time needed to trigger the switch-version process will depend on the amount of data available.
Warning: If you are upgrading Unified CCX in a two-node (high availability) deployment, once you complete the switch version of second node, execute the following CLI command utils uccx dbreplication repair all to remove any data discrepancy between the two nodes.
    Reference:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_8_5/configuration/guide/uccx851osag.pdf
    utils uccx dbreplication repair
This command is only available in the High Availability deployment of Unified CCX. This command can be executed on any node. This command repairs mismatched data between cluster nodes; it does not repair replication setup. The command initiates the repair which executes in the background. The user would have to go to data store control centre in serviceability administration to monitor the status of the repair process. For more information, see the Cisco Unified CCX Serviceability Administration Guide available here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/custcosw/ps1846/products_installation_and_configuration_guides_list.html

  • Using Upgrade License on UCCX 8.0 with "Fresh Install" setup

    Hi all,
My situation right now is that I want to install UCCX 8.0 (on a VM environment) and I don't have any previous UCCX version deployed, but the licenses I have are :
    - an Upgrade License from ver.5 to ver.8
    - a PAK and SW kit license (also contains the seats licenses) for UCCX version 5.
Because I don't have any previous UCCX version deployed, I installed UCCX 8.0 and chose "Fresh Install". When I upload the upgrade license, the server returned a warning that said "The license for Cisco Unified CCX Premium Seat ESW or UCSS Upgrade is not a valid addition for the package None and therefore it will be ignored" and "The license for Cisco Unified CCX Premium ESW or UCSS Upgrade is not a valid addition for the package None and therefore it will be ignored".
    My questions are :
    - Can I use the licenses I have on a fresh installation of UCCX 8.0 ( the upgrade license and the ver.5 license) ? Because I've tried similar scenarios with the licenses on Unity Connection and it worked. I'm wondering if it's not possible with UCCX 8.0 and that's what caused the error.
    - If the answer for the "Fresh Install" path is No, does it mean I have to use the "Upgrade" path -what I'm trying to avoid if I can- meaning that I have to install ver.5 first and then upgrade it to ver.8 using PUT( ? Because on the initial setup If I choose "Ugrade from previous version" it will ask where the data from the previous version are located and right now I don't have any.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Regi

Thanks for the answer Hoai Huynh (and Aaron for adding the info).
Just what I was worrying about, I need to build a ver.5 first. I would appreciate it if you can answer a few last questions if you don't mind :
So, I need to install UCCX v.5 and also CM v.5 (because my CM v.8 is not supported by UCCX v.5).
Can the UCCX ver.5 data from the migration tool (PUT) be used on the UCCX v.8 that is integrated with different CM server (different IP address, different credentials, etc) ? Because the steps in the UCCX v.8 upgrade guide are describing a scenario where the CM is the same server and is being upgraded at the same time with UCCX.
Related to no.1 question, Is there anything I should be aware of when setting up the UCCX ver.5 and CM ver.5 ? For example : need to have same IP addresses with the version8 servers, same AXL / application user name and password, etc.
At exactly what point of configuration on UCCX v.5 can I use the PUT to migrate data from the ver.5 (the guide only mentioned to make sure that the server is up and running)? Can I do it right away after the first initial setup ? Or do I need to configure a working application to get all the subsystems in "full-service" first ?
    Thanks again.
    Regi

  • Compatibility Uccx 9.0(2)SU2 with CUCM 9.1(2)SU3

Have seen the recent discussion on UCCX 9.0(2)SU2 and CUCM 9.1(2)SU2 here:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12482146/compatibility-uccx-902su2-cucm-912su2
But with the release of CUCM 9.1(2)SU3 looking at the same compatibility matrix:
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_CCX_Software_Compatibility_Matrix_for_9.0(2)_SU2
I do not see that UCCX 9.0(2)SU2 and CUCM 9.1(2)SU3 are compatible.  Is this an error in the document or do we need to upgrade UCCX if we upgrade CUCM from 9.1(1) to 9.1(2)SU3?
    Thanks,
    Ryan

  • CAD 8.x on UCCX 7.0 - Compatible?

I'm doing a UCCX upgrade for a customer from 7.0 to 8.x.  The customer wants to upgrade all of the agents before we upgrade the servers, so that the upgrade process will be that much smoother.  The question is, can I upgrade the CAD server (and agents) to 8.x and leave the rest of the UCCX system on 7.0?
    Thanks,
    Corey

    Hi Corey,
    Sorry, you can not.
Each UCCX version has its compatiable CAD version with it.
Everytime you launch the CAD\CSD\CDA it will check the version against the UCCX server and upgrade itslef if its in the lower version.
There is no option for you to upgrade your CAD clients to next release before upgrading UCCX.
The sequence is Upgarde UCCX first, run the CAD client configuaration tool, and when you launch the CAD\CSD\CDA they will automatically get upgraded.
    Hope it helps.

  • Cisco CAD Issue , UCCX System version: 8.5.1.11003-32

The main issue around the guys taking calls, After finishing the call and the CAD display staying  in the 'Not Ready' state. Once clicked on 'Ready' (to take a call) which goes straight back to 'Not Ready' state, So they  are unable to take calls. This is happening intermittenly with all Agents of  one particular call  center site. I took a look into the CAD ebug  logs and I can see Agents state changing from Reserved state to Not ready state without Intervention of Agent.I can also see the number of timeouts session which is leading to RTPstoped event. The UCCX system is upgraded from V7.0 to  8.5.1.11003-32.
Also I have a strong feeling this could be a network related issue which results to timeouts and disconnection of session  between UCCX and CAD.
I have  attached the debug logs, Guys do you any idea onthis issue ??
    Thanks !!
    Shridhar Reddy (Shri)

    HI Shridhar,
Why are these Agents going to Reserved state? Is it because they are getting the inbound or Direct Preview Outbound calls?
After this Reserved state, Agent's phone should start rining and they should pickup the calls, if they don't do it in stipulated time, UCCX will force them to go to the Not_Ready state (depending on the parameter set for RONA under UCCX Admin->System parameter page).
Could you please check the Reason code for the Not_ready state in CAD for these events?
I will meantime check the logs to see any specific reason for this issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • APIs Flags on UCCX9 for time of day

    Hi,
I was discussing UCCX and our upgrades to V9 for a few of our customers with a Voice CCIE at an event a few days ago, and was explaining that  our customers found the configured time of day and holidays  in scripts was very restricting. They want the ability to upload holidays and early close the call centre via a Web interface. I advised that was looking into doing this via a SQL server running a stored procedure fired from a script; however this would not be possible with our clients on the enhanced license.
The CCIE mentioned that in UCCX v9 we can use APIs to set flags and reference these in scripts. I have has a trawl of the Web but cannot find any reference to this. Can someone point me in the right direction where I can find :-
    a) How to reference these flags in scripts – I am more than happy to write the script logic
    b) Info to pass to our Developer on how to integrate with APIs to set these flags.

Hi, first thing first, you should see this post, which lays out for you how to integrate UCCX Enhanced with an external DB via a "man in the middle" web server.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-29776
Long story short, tell your developer to build a URL for accessing calendar and business hours logic in various formats: XML, JSON, HTML, etc.  You'll use XML, but asking them for more opens your options down the road.
Next up, the API's.  These are pretty new to UCCX, with v9.0 bringing the first round of access and then v10 coming in behind with even more access.
Normally, when I don't know the answer to a question on the forums, I go research it, and sometimes proof of concept it, and then post my findings.  However, the developer.cisco.com site has a revoked certificate at the moment and I cannot get to the API docs for UCCX.  Or says the proxy im going through anyway.
I've managed to get my hands on the documentation, unfortunately I don't have UCCX 9 or 10 to try this out on so look at this more of a point in the right direction.
The API you're CCIE was referring to is most likely the application API within System Configuration grouping of APIs.  It has five or so methods, one of them is an HTTP PUT to modify the application of your choice.
    HTTP Method
    PUT
    URI
    http:///adminapi/application/{applicationName}
    Example URI
    http://10.10.10.10/adminapi/application/mysweetapplication
    Content Body Type
    Application/XML or Application/JSON
    Response Code on Success
    HTTP 200
    Response Codes on Failure
    HTTP 401, 405 or 412
    Error Codes
    None
In your Content Body, which is like a file you send it with instructions in either XML or JSON format, you will need to send it:
script - The name of the current script (unless you plan to also change it)
scriptParams - The list of parameters for the script
    script
In order to send it the same script name that is currently using, you'll need to query the application first, which means you'll need to use another one of the five available methods for the application: Get Application
    HTTP Method
    GET
    URI
    http:///adminapi/application/{applicationName}
    Example URI
    http://10.10.10.10/adminapi/applications/mysweetapplication
    Content Body Type
    Application/XML or Application/JSON
    HTTP Code on Success
    HTTP 200
    HTTP Codes on Failure
    HTTP 401, 405
    Error Codes
    None
Inside that response (assume XML for a moment) you will see:
        mysweetscript.aef
This gives you the current script name to use in your Modify Method.
    scriptParams
This is where things get a little fuzzy without some hand on experience (good thing there's also a forum on the delvepor site).  The application XSD shows us that the scriptParams element is defined as:
Which tells us that the name of the element is scriptParams, the type is variable (more on that in a second), it is optional, and can occur an infinite amount of times in the XML document.
The type variable is pretty key, as the application XSD defines type variable as:
That tells us three major things about variable types:
It has to have a single name element whose value has to be a string and have atleast one character in itThis is the name of the variable in your script  E.g., start_time
It has to have a single value element whose value has to be a string and have atleast one character in itThis is what value you want to set it to  E.g., T[8:00 AM]
It has to have a single type element whose value has to be a string and have atleast one character in itThis is what type of variable it is in your script  E.g., Time
Note that the XSD does not define the format of the name, value, or type elements, above the the string and 1 character limitation.
Therefore a valid XML document should look like:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>      mysweetscript.aef          start_time      T[8:00 AM]      Time
To conclude this much longer than anticipated reply, a few things I do not know about how this works:
How do you disable the use of a parameter such that the script default value takes effect?
How do you set multiple parameters at once without sending multiple API PUT requests?
    It might just be:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>      mysweetscript.aef          start_time      T[8:00 AM]      Time              end_time      T[5:00 PM]      Time
Do you have to send all of the existing parameters, as to not inadvertinly disable them?  And if so, how do you get a list of them?  Perhaps from the Get Application method, but I don't see that sepcified anywhere.
EDIT: I do see that there is a query parameter for the GET operation of an application named detail which can have a value of full.  I'd need to test it though.
Good luck and happy API programming!

  • Running VBS script from CAD Agent

    Edit:
I found it, it is thru Agent Desktop Administrator.
We have a scrip set up to populate members account numbers from the call in menu, when the memeber talkes to the call center agent, the account number is populated in the agent screen.
This is a vbs scrip located on a network share. The share was off line and the agent were getting the following pop-up message:
    Error Launching Application
    Acction Name:           Runscript
    Application:              \\share\desktop_cfg\script.vbs
Error Masseage:     The network path was not found
I need to be able to point the agents to a new share for this scrip. Where do I find this parameter to change it?

    Hi Wilson,
Yes. Every time you launch the CAD\CAD-BE , it checks for the updates from UCCX (for version upgrades) and also from the CDA side, if any it syncs.
Work Flow Configuration enables you to configure and maintain the appearance and behavior of Agent Desktop, Agent Desktop—Browser Edition, and IP Phone Agent.
The CAD client applications must be restarted for any configuration changes you make
    to go into effect.
    Hope it helps,
    Anand

  • UCCX 7.0.1SR5 to 8.0 upgrade while also adding LDAP integration for CUCM - what happens to agents and Historical Reporting data?

    Current State:
    •    I have a customer running CUCM 6.1 and UCCX 7.01SR5.  Currently their CUCM is *NOT* LDAP integrated and using local accounts only.  UCCX is AXL integrated to CUCM as usual and is pulling users from CUCM and using CUCM for login validation for CAD.
    •    The local user accounts in CUCM currently match the naming format in active directory (John Smith in CUCM is jsmith and John Smith is jsmith in AD)
    Goal:
    •    Upgrade software versions and migrate to new hardware for UCCX
    •    LDAP integrate the CUCM users
Desired Future State and Proposed Upgrade Method
Using the UCCX Pre Upgrade Tool (PUT), backup the current UCCX 7.01 server.
Then during a weekend maintenance window……
    •    Upgrade the CUCM cluster from 6.1 to 8.0 in 2 step process
    •    Integrate the CUCM cluster to corporate active directory (LDAP) - sync the same users that were present before, associate with physical phones, select the same ACD/UCCX line under the users settings as before
    •    Then build UCCX 8.0 server on new hardware and stop at the initial setup stage
    •    Restore the data from the UCCX PUT tool
    •    Continue setup per documentation
At this point does UCCX see these agents as the same as they were before?
Is the historical reporting data the same with regards to agent John Smith (local CUCM user) from last week and agent John Smith (LDAP imported CUCM user) from this week ?
I have the feeling that UCCX will see the agents as different almost as if there is a unique identifier that's used in addition to the simple user name.
We can simplify this question along these lines
Starting at the beginning with CUCM 6.1 (local users) and UCCX 7.01.  Let's say the customer decided to LDAP integrate the CUCM users and not upgrade any software.
If I follow the same steps with re-associating the users to devices and selecting the ACD/UCCX extension, what happens?
I would guess that UCCX would see all the users it knew about get deleted (making them inactive agents) and the see a whole group of new agents get created.
What would historical reporting show in this case?  A set of old agents and a set of new agents treated differently?
Has anyone run into this before?
Is my goal possible while keeping the agent configuration and HR data as it was before?

I was doing some more research looking at the DB schema for UCCX 8.
Looking at the Resource table in UCCX, it looks like there is primary key that represents each user.
My question, is this key replicated from CUCM or created locally when the user is imported into UCCX?
How does UCCX determine if user account jsmith in CUCM, when it’s a local account, is different than user account jsmith in CUCM that is LDAP imported?
Would it be possible (with TAC's help most likely) to edit this field back to the previous values so that AQM and historical reporting would think the user accounts are the same?
    Database table name: Resource
The Unified CCX system creates a new record in the Resource table when the Unified CCX system retrieves agent information from the Unified CM.
A Resource record contains information about the resource (agent). One such record exists for each active and inactive resource. When a resource is deleted, the old record is flagged as inactive; when a resource is updated, a new record is created and the old one is flagged as inactive.

  • UCCX upgrade 5.0 to 9.0

    Hello,
We are planning an UCCX upgrade from 5.0 to 9.0 on a UCS server. We're going to do a fresh install, and I would like to know if we will be able to use the old scripts and prompts on the new version, or will we have to build the scripts from scratch. If anybody has had a similar experience, I would appreciate the advice.
    Best regards,
    Ivana

Yes!  Scripts and prompts from older versions work on newer versions as well.  The opposite is not true however, so if you upgrade to UCCX 9x, and need to roll back for some reason, your scripts from the UCCX 9x will not work on UCCX 5x.  Not that I think your upgrade wont work, or that you couldn't just restore from a UCCX 5x backup though.  I'm just covering both scenarios here.
One thing to note, in UCCX versions 7x and lower, people could script incorrectly, and it would still work.  However, starting in UCCX 8x, there are additional restrictions and security measures in place, which will make those scripts fail.  Be sure to do your testing of all scripts before going live on UCCX 9x.  One of the major offenders of this is using the Write Document step to write files to the local C:\.  So, if you open all of your scripts, and do a CTRL+F "Write Document", to find this step, you may be able to correct it now, before you even go through the upgrade.
